NFL Pre-Game Flyovers
— Dave in Texas

It's not new but it's new to me (I think this is from the NFL Network).

Anyway, it's pretty cool, especially Tony Dungy talking about what they mean to Derrick Thomas.

Hope you morons have a great weekend. I plan to do the same.

Yo Chait - kiss mah ass.

"The New Republic’s Jonathan Chait writes that “right-wing icon Paul Ryan” and I have both made a claim about Obamacare’s financing that is “categorically false,” “not a legitimate complaint,” and “100% phony” — and that Representative Ryan has been performing a “stunt” to fuel a “crusade.”

It seems strange that, in the era of Obama, anyone on the left would derisively characterize an opponent as an “icon.” We have yet to see totalitarian-style propaganda posters depicting Congressman Ryan in red and blue, staring off into space, above one-word slogans such as “SOLVENCY.” [ hmmm?????  Chait, you left-wing freak] In truth, Congressman Ryan isnÂ’t an icon, but a uniquely articulate champion of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and liberty, and thus is completely in step with the mounting concerns of the vast majority of American voters — conservatives, libertarians, and independents (and even some liberals) alike.
"

Leftwingers are scared.  Must use bullshit to smear.

Paul Ryan is impressive. I recall hearing him on one of the conservative radio shows early in the health care debate, wishing he'd gain more prominence nationally. Lefty's attack on Ryan and attempt to discredit him proves he has arrived.

14 Never seen a live B-2 bomber until I was at a Jaguar homegame and, man, you ain't seen nothing 'til you see one. I read that the flyover was planned for weeks as part of a mission profile, way-point to their next objective. The video brought a little tear to my eye, as well....even if I shared it with Dick Vermil.

19 Still have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to the NFL.

Sorry--It's a nice video and I realize this isn't the place for it. I (and everybody else) obviously still watches it, but anytime I see something lionizing on the NFL now, it comes with the knowledge the higher-ups don't want me as a fan.

I'm with you Curious and Chicago Jedi. This is a terrible tragedy for a country that is still struggling from the chains of communism. Kaczynski and his twin brother were staunch anti-communists, and conservatives who balked at bringing Poland under the EU's aegis. They worked with the Bush administration to bring the missile defense system to Poland. They fought to ensure sound, capitalistic economic policies which were helping to bring Poland some financial stability. And there are not harder working people in the world. They don't import labor in Poland-the Poles are NOT to proud to do the heavy lifting and less attractive jobs. They are a decent people, where you are safe at night in most neighborhoods. After living there for two years, I have many positive things to say about the Poles, and yes, I have questions about what happened, especially since the Russian Air Traffic Controller claimed the Polish plane ignored his instructions (from Fox ). My prayers are with the Polish people, that they overcome this tragedy, and do not succumb to pressures that may take away the freedoms they fought so hard to attain.

26 19 Yeah, it's disappointing that the higher ups in the NFL are allowing or requesting fly overs to impress the bitter clinger fans yet actually hate them and think of them as just a mass of american ticket buying mechandise wearing scum.

Posted by: dagny at April 10, 2010 06:40 AM (UaT92)

27 That deafening, earth shaking roar is the sound of FREEDOM!!!

And if you don't like it, you are welcome to get the fuck out.

Back shortly after 9/11 I had a job driving a parts delivery truck.  I was tooling up I-55 headed back toward Cape Girardeau when I saw a F/A-18 doing Touch and Goes at the Cape Airport.  I got off at the airport exit and pulled into an empty lot to watch the show.

He did about 8-10 coming and going from every approach/depart angle, and about every other one had him going right over my position at only a couple hundred feet.  Every time he went overhead, I couldn't help but whoop and holler and shake my fists in the air, heart bursting with pride that this Aviator and his shipmates are OUR guys and that you don't fuck with the USA.

Anyway, I guess my antics caught his attention, for on his last departure, he flew over me low enough that I could look into his eyes, he waved and gave me a "Thumbs up" and then firewalled those bigass engines and did a vertical spiral and disappeared into the clouds.

Telling this story still fills my heart with pride and brings tears to my eyes, only now, some of those tears are from sorrow because of what is being done to our Great United States by a motherfucking muslim that probably deep in his commie heart still cheers his raghead brother's actions that day.

Fuck you, you kendonesian cocksucking motherfucker.  I hate every commie cell in your pathetic body.

30 Thanks Dave.

The coolest one I ever saw was a B-2B come over a small football stadium in Charlotte.  Virginia Military Institute vs The Citadel, the last two state military colleges.

The entire student corp was on the field and the bomber came over at about 500 feet, you could smell AND feel the jet fuel.  He split the uprights and turned on the after burners!  He then swept the wings back and banked over the BoA building.

Holy shit was that cool, getting goose bumps just writing about it!

Michner's book Poland and Rutherford's book Russka give a lot of insight into the long history of Russia/Poland/Germany. Poor Poland could really have benefited from a natural barrier or two. It's amazing they still even have a national identity. Good for them.

One of my favorites was from the late actor turned conservative Ron Silver.

During Clinton's inauguration, he was upset that the USAF was doing a fly over at the ceremony and was angry and then he realized that Clinton was know the CINC and said “Wait a minute those are our planes now!”

Nah, what I'm getting at is when they go into that bit about "at that moment we're all one; it's not one team against another--we're all Americans..." it comes with the knowledge that the commissioner would be happy to add "except you, you bitter racist bigot."  I'm glad that they're patriotic and want the support of loyal, patriotic, well-meaning, hard-working Americans...except if I tried to buy into a team (assuming I had the money) or met the higher-ups in the league and discussed my politics, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't consider me among that group, or, more accurately, would give much more credence to people on the left trying to smear me as not being in that group.

Sorry, like I mentioned, this isn't really the place for it, but everytime I see something with the NFL now, that just comes with it.

Its not the NFL's job to do either, they are a business pure and simple. They could care less who owns what team, money is money to them, but at the same time they want to appeal to their entire fan base which includes liberals too. Coming out in defense or being critical of Rush would have alienated one section of their fan base either way and would have been a poor business decision.

I seem to recall Goodell sticking his nose into it saying Limbaugh has no place in the league. The same Goodell that gives every thug that breaks the law every chance to play the game.

Maybe. I'm just basically using Rush's own logic here. Even he said he didnt blame the NFL and would continue watching football on Sunday's.

When the dustup occurred, it was mostly the NFLPU that was doing all the bitching. At any rate, most of the team owners themselves are conservatives and give overwhelmingly to conservative candidates and causes.

I saw one of those once, at Andrews. I was trying not to jump up and down in excitement because there was a young Airman jogging nearby and I thought I'd look silly.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Tuesday [October 19, 2009]spoke out against Rush Limbaugh at the NFL owners meetings in Boston, in all probability putting to bed the conservative talk show host's bid to become a part-owner of the Rams.

Goodell said he is sensitive to complaints from African-American players, stemming largely from controversial remarks Limbaugh made in regard to Donovan McNabb as a panelist on ESPN's Sunday pregame show six years ago, as well as on his nationally syndicated radio program. Opponents feel parts of his commentary are racially charged, and Goodell seemed to agree.

"The comments that Rush made specifically about Donovan, I disagree with very strongly," Goodell said at his afternoon press conference. "They are polarizing comments that we don't think reflect accurately on the NFL or our players. I obviously do not believe that those comments are positive and they are divisive. That's a negative thing for us. I disagree with those comments very strongly and I have told the players that.

"I have said many times before that we are all held to a higher standard here," the commissioner continued. "I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about. I would not want to see those kind of comments from people who are in a responsible position within the NFL. No. Absolutely not."

Well, I understand that Donovan is clean and articulate, can speak in a negro dialect or not, changes languages when he goes into a Duncan Donuts, yet acted stupidly about something I know nothing about. He once told a cripple to stand up but bowls like he is in the special olympics----------oh wait-----liberals can say anything and conservatives have to be held to how liberals interpret what they say, boy.

no one ever worries about alienating the bitter clingers and I think it's time for the bitter clingers to stop letting it roll off their back. We'll end up like the british under sharia law.

49 Down at Virginia Beach the Naval Air Station sends jets out over the ocean all the time. There was the typical uproar over the noise from the usual suspects but down there there was also a reaction "I Love Jet Noise". It's awesome to watch the jets fly in and out, the amphibious vehicles come up on the bay beach, the carries go out to sea. I'd rather have that than all the peace and quiet in the world.

59 Hey, I am no big fan of war either, but the purpose of the flyover is just to let the people know. “Hey there are 50,000 of you people here and that could be a target for the bad guys but don’t worry we got your back.” Have a great time!
