— andy These young ladies are clearly offended by the Washington Redskins' team name.

And here's an interesting piece in the WSJ - Bengals Fans: No More Katy Perry
The move is a win for tradition, but it also is proof of a national problem. Stadium music nationwide is calcified. Most arenas and stadiums play the same songs they have been playing for years, since testosterone-fueled rock is what people expect.
I'm not sure that's really true. The rotation is hard to crack, and once you're in, your're sure to be there for a while, but the first time I heard the song below the fold, I knew it'd make that cut (and it did), but it's not testosterone-fueled rock by any stretch of the imagination.
By contrast, the Katy Perry song isn't the kind of thing that's going to pump up a stadium. Other than the "Roar" tie-in with the Bengal tiger, I don't know why they'd play it at all.

I find it really funny that there were several little bitches here getting critical of Cruz, calling him a coward and how this was all nothing more than fundraising. And then in the Open Thread Ace links to Drew's post about Rubin doing the same, and that after she had the RCCC sent out a fundraising letter based on their defunding of Obamacare.

As a non-catholic who still expects catholics to be catholic, let me point out that rock and pop music do not really go with football at all. Brass band music goes with football. The crowd-control music played in stadiums comes from the stadiums' legacy as (very bad) rock concert venues, not from anything in football's history. Perhaps you don't find it crass and annoying. Fine. But you can't endorse the grand traditions of football while voting for your team's rock anthem.
Thank you. Oh, and in before CAC to tell Vic that in today's market, them are "moderate'uns." Mostly real(-ish) though, and for that, we may give thanks.

How is it counter to fair competition?
They suck. The picked the wrong people for the last 10 years.
They are going to suck next year and the year after under the best case scenario.
How is that unfair to you or anyone else's team?
No one forced Indy to trade the first round pick did they?
If a team is so bad they want to start over this is how you do it.

Most NFL teams won't waste a first round pick on an running back. That was the brown's mistake in 2012. Compounded by trading up to get him - they traded a 3rd 5th and 7th to move up on spot to get him. They didn't need to Minnesota was not going to take him. They had Peterson. its a miracle they got a first round back for him this time.
The trade that should have been stopped was Holmgren's trading up for Richardson in 2012. That guy is a total jackass. Fine coach, but Peter principle in action with the Browns. Wasted several drafts and carried off 40 million of the owners money that should have been spent on the Field not on his salary as the GM.

96 The Washington Unnamable Savages and the Baltimore Ravens both have in-house marching brass bands. When the Colts left, the band soldiered on, and were eventually rewarded by being able to play the first two Ravens seasons under their well-established name, the Marching Colts. That must have been fun.

The Browns had a top draft pick who is not injured and not a disciplinary problem - if they hid either of those factors the trade could be voided - but they suddenly two games in decide to dump him for a single draft pick?
Kind of crappy for the Browns fans and city of Cleveland.

They did not show up ready to play and McCarthy's play-calling was sub-par, but starting the game without Kuhn, losing Finley to a concussion, Rodgers taking several hits to the head and the knee, losing Matthews, and ending the game without a running back all contributed. So they definitely dug themselves into a hole and they deserved to lose but the injuries played a role, too.

Heh, at least none of 'em popped a cap in his buddy, to shut him about about yet another homicide, and went to jail.
I know the Pats haven't won pretty in the first two (don't know about today, but srsly, Tampa Bay??), but I'm glad they're stayin' turgid.

Twerkskins lose, yay.
San Diego down, yay.
What the hell is up with the Oilers, I mean Texans? (See, some Teams know how to change an un-PC name, heh.)

No, you are correct, I'm just joshing around. I've got little to do but kibbitz since the Broncos don't play the Raid-duhs until tomorrow.

I agree. The O-line also did a poor job of protecting Rodgers. If he had not chosen to slide on the play where Johnson hit him in the knee, he would be finished for the season. But while I feel he was playing injured after a certain point, he did not start the game well. Rare poor performance.

Yeah he made a few bad decisions and wasn't on target, I guess he's human.

Pardon me whilst I bask in the Cowboy's victory.
They may rise as high as 7-9 this year.
Optimism is always best.

It was undoubtedly a poor performance from a team that can do better but it was only one game. I would also take Rodgers over Cutler any day of the week.

I hear you, Peaches. They take over a couple of clubs in Denver and do that crap. Bears and Steelers fans are easier to put up with, and that's not easy.

today's football lesson
week 1- down by a score with 4 min left and you call on Jay Cutler-win!!
week 2- down by a score with 4 min left and you call on Jay Cutler-win!!
week 3- down by a score with 4 min left and you call on Aaron Rodgers-lose
when you need a win you get Jay Fucking Cutler

I love that!!!! Hoping to see Kaepernick screw up again today. Just because it would be satisfying.
And, for sure, I will take Bears and Steeler fans any day of the week over those asswipe 'skins fans. they truly suck.

Gotta admit, I DIDN'T see the Giants game coming. Thought this would be their "bounce back" game, so they could make all the statements about getting their shit together.
Makes one wonder if there isn't some locker room dissension going on.

Fuckity fuck, the Steelers look awful. I knew this was a weak team but dammit......
NHL starts on the 1 Oct. It can't get here soon enough. The Pens lost very capable backup goalie (Voukoun) indefinitly though (blood clot).
