— DrewM As Obama has said, the time for talk about health care reform is over (even as he is giving another speech about it).
Okay, let's vote!
"As I said publicly, I can't vote for a bill that will publicly fund abortion," Rep. Chris Carney (D-Pa.) told the Scranton Times-Shamrock.Carney, who voted for the House bill in November, is regarded as a key vote for the Democratic leadership on the upcoming Senate bill.
Two other Democrats facing tough races -- Reps. Steve Driehaus (Ohio) and Brad Ellsworth (Ind.) -- made similar statements in recent days. The two of them and Carney are thought to be potential members of the bloc of Democrats standing with Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) over the abortion issue.
Glenn Nye (D-VA) is looking like he sticking with his no vote.
Related: Howie Kurtz tweets that FNC bailed on covering Obama's latest while MSNBC and CNN stuck with it.
This is part of the reason why FNC seen as tilting against WH.
And there's the liberal bias of assumptions in action. Perhaps the issue is CNN and MSNBC tilting towards the White House by giving Obama's pitch the umpteenth free airing.
Obama says the time for talk is over, FNC just took him at his word.
More [Gabe]: Two things that don't looks so good for Nancy:
Driehaus and Ellsworth were originally believed to be part of the Stupak bloc, but Democrats spent the weekend saying it had shrunk to six, instead of a baker's dozen. The six were Bart Stupak, Marion Berry, Dan Lipinski, Kathy Dahlkemper, Joe Donnelly, and Joe Cao. But if Driehaus and Ellsworth are still on board, I guess rumors of the group's demise were greatly exaggerated.
The other interesting thing is that Carney wasn't thought to be part of Stupak's group at all. He was a solid vote for healtcare reform in the fall. This means that he just reached out of nowhere to seize on the abortion issue...perhaps as an excuse?
Carney stated repeatedly in the fall that his constituents supported a healthcare overhaul. But recent polls have shown collapsing support and Carney, among others, has been the target of television and radio ads urging him to "Start Over" on healthcare reform. I guess the ads worked.

He's giving one. FNC aired the beginning. News value met. It's the repetitive nature of the speech that is not news.
Draw another straw Howie.

This whole thing has become "Do it for Obama and Pelosi, no one else. Throw your careers away and ignore the majority of Americans WHO DO NOT WANT THIS. Do it for Obama/Pelosi and Reid, or else."
The Democrats who stand up for the American people deserve our respect when this is over.
(eyeyeyey It's nerve-racking pinning hope on Democrats.)

Umm, President Transparency isn't quite living up to his words (shocka!) here in OH.
Biden is coming here today to buy off Steve Dreihaus' vote to fundraise. Our local paper is asking for people going to send them pics--the VP's office has barred photographers and tv crews from the junket!

Well, the more he speaks, the less popular his Health Care "Reform," so one might conclude that FNC is doing him a favor.

Carney's a good guy and there's been some talk he'll flip to R. I can't see that happening, this was an R district for ages (BITE ME SHERWOOD ahem) but there's a strong cultural Democrat influence.
This area is also hugely Catholic which explains the pro-life position. Not that Carney doesn't really mean it but even if he didn't he'd be destroyed around here if he voted for a bill with public funding of abortion.

ECM 2 Gee, I wonder if Fineman pointed out that when MSNBC et al didn't bother covering a Bush speech that that was a sign of them "tilting against" the Bush White House.
More likely, it was a sign of them tilting toward the Bush White House. You remember what Bush speeches were like, right?

I agree with Geraghty at NRO: A lot of assumed no's are actually yes's. They just don't want to be public about it and get the torch & pitchfork treatment.
Not good.

Carney's a good guy on paper only. He voted No on Cap n' tax because he got a hall pass from Nancy to polish up his conservative street creed. He may be a Navy reservist but he's no moderate.
That said he's first termer and I very much doubt he wants to be a 2 year and out guy. He wants a figleaf to cover a Yes vote and he'll try and paint the recon bill as that figleaf.
No way he survives if he votes Yes to the Senate bill, recon or not. Keep pounding him with that. A Yes on the Senate bill is the end of his Congressional career.

Maybe FNC should just try to slob a little knob the next time the WH overtly shuts them out or says they're not a legitimate news organization.
Emphasis on little.

The Hill's survey/tracking of House Democrats' positions on healthcare reform legislation.
Game almost over for the PURPLE LIPPED COMMIE:
UPDATED: 3/15/10 at 1:26 p.m.
RECENT UPDATES: Reps. Chris Carney, Jason Altmire, Brian Baird, Bart Gordon and John Boccieri
House Democrats not on this list are expected to vote yes. However, some members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus who are not mentioned below have threatened to vote no unless the Senate's immigration-related provisions are changed.
All House Republicans are expected to vote no.
If every member votes and all GOP lawmakers vote no, the maximum amount of Democratic defections to pass a bill is 37, which would lead to a 216-215 tally.
Firm No, Leaning No, Likely No(36)

Zerocare is a never ending nightmare. I just hope it's worse for the leftards trying to ramrod that turd down our throats. Failure of this bill will be the end of them, so Pelosi and Zero will drag it out as long as they can, and screw everything else.

Hmmm. This guy is named on a couple lists as someone to target as he's considered a flip to "yes." This from Michelle Malkin:
Representative John Boccieri, Democrat of Ohio, whose vote on major health care legislation could be crucial to the outcome, will not be attending President ObamaÂ’s health care rally on Monday in Strongsville, Ohio, not far from Mr. BoccieriÂ’s own district, a spokeswoman said.

Goddamn it...Driehaus is not going to vote "no". He is simply playing the game that Pelosi has instructed him to.
Driehaus is a fucking idiot. He is fucking Maxine Waters stupid. He does not have his own thoughts, convictions, or principles. The guy is a fucking moron..seriously.
Driehaus has done the same thing with every bill (stimulus notwithstanding because it happened too quickly to get a response from him). He first obfuscates saying he is a fiscal conservative and that he would never do anything to incerase the debt..then when he's called on that..he'll cite some outlier for his ratioanle..then reverse himself.
Trust me..he is not going to vote "no". Do not count him

I spoke with a staffer in Bluedog Bobby Bright's (AL-2, D) office today. Yesterday I saw he was listed as "undecided" on either Hotair or RWN so I thought I would call to confirm. She told me that he is a firm no on healthcare and will definitely not vote for the Slaughter rule.

32 Carney's not on Jay Cost's list (realclearpolitics horserace blog) of possible "yes" to "no" votes. Excellent. Excellent. Out of nowhere switch--just what we needed.
If there isn't any reason he did so that is particular to him other than general political pressure, this may be a good indicator.

phoenixrisen: i live in Dem Perriello's district. after a hot summer of the most townhalls of any Congressman, he decided that his district really wanted Obamacare (I assure you that he was met with strong, strong opposition at every townhall). He is Roman Catholic & declared before he voted on the Stupak amendment that he could not, Never, ever vote for fed funding for abortion.
my gut: he'll vote Yes. if nancy needs him, he'll do whatever she wants. and he will leave office in November.

Obama's latest speech on the healtcare debate.
"Now let me be perfectly clear. The time for talk is over, which is why I'm giving another speech. Now we all want Healthcare reform. Granted, we had to make this event invitation only and only invite the uber-left to make sure we got a room full of people that supported this rancorous turd in a punch bowl that we laughly call health care legislation. The truth is we don't even really have a bill, we've now have 3 different bills, one that passed the Senate which the House will never pass, one that passed the House that the Senate will never pass, and one that hasn't even been written yet that were going to force through regardless of the fact that this completely violates the Constitution on which our nation was founded.
The Constitution, after all, was written by a bunch of fat white guys. None of them even play basketball. What does that have to do with anything? Nothing, but as usual I'm at that portion of my speech where I throw out a bunch on non-sequiters and you all applaud like the witless, brain dead sheep that you are because you know as long as you do I'll keep all of you on the government gravy train. That is, afterall, what being in a union is all about.
The thing people have to understand is that were Democrats. We buy votes. That's what we do. We spend hard earned tax payer dollars like drunken sailors so we can assure we keep getting elected. For a while there we had the Republicans convinced they needed to buy votes to, that they also needed to kiss some good ole MSM bootie so they too could keep getting relected. But those times have changed. It looks like their wising up, so were on our own.
So this time I'm going to try something new, I'm going to tell you the truth about my health care plan. I don't have one, I never did. I kept making a bunch of phony promises I couldn't keep. That's what I do. But now that I've been forced to put forth an actual "plan" of my own I just let Axlerod and his boys write it up and read it off the teleprompter.
Look, it's simple. Were the government, and were in charge. If you don't sit down and shut up and just let us take over every aspect of your lives then were going to call you nasty names and eventually we'll really retaliate with the IRS, or whatever means necessary to keep you worthless tea bagging bastards under control.
Yes, were going to kill grandma. So what, she's no good to us anymore anyway. She doesn't produce. She doesn't pay taxes that we can redistribute for more votes. She must die. Don't worry though, we won't kill her outright, we'll just do what all of the other nations with socialized medicine do. We'll put her on a long waiting list for care, and she'll die waiting. It's the Candian way. It's the English way. Soon it will be the American Way too.
So for the first time, let me really be clear. I won the election. Granted I lied my ass off to get here, but I won. That means I'm in charge. That means I get my way. Let's face it, I know whats good for you and you don't. It's that simple. You'll love the bill, once we get it passed. Who cares if anyone knows what's in it. That doesn't matter.
All that matters is that I get to sign a peace of paper with the words "Health Care Bill" at the top. All that matters is that we take control of your health care. So next time we can pass laws against you eating anything other than wheat germ and tofu - since we're paying for your healthcare we can you know. You shouldn't be allowed to make decisions like what you should eat for yourself anyway. We know whats good for you, you don't.
So we'll put that evil corporate cabal of fast food out of business. Pepsi, Coke, Mcdonalds, Burger King.. oh yes, they'll all be on the hit list next. Who cares about all the jobs lost and what it will do to our economy. Their evil, just like the health care companies. And we'll get you on welfare, and let those rich bastards pay for it. You don't need a job. We'll take care of you. We're to government, after all."
Yikes.. ok.. have to stop now.. starting to scare myself.
