— DrewM Yeah, we knew that but now Sen. Max "Hey My Girlfriend Would Be A Great US Attorney" Baucus admits it.
...the wealthy are getting way, way too wealthy, and the middle income class is left behind. Wages have not kept up with increased income of the highest income in America. This legislation will have the effect of addressing that mal-distribution of income in America.
But don't you dare call it socialism!
Follow the link for the video and decide for your self if you think he's drunk.
Meanwhile, Obama says bring it on, when it comes to Republicans running on repealing health care. Be careful what you wish for O.

There are no moderate democrats. Democrats all campaign in the middle and move left to govern. (control)
Every Senate Democrat was a reliable vote for Harry Reid.
Almost every House Democrat was a reliable vote for Nancy Pelosi (and the democrats who didn't vote for ObamaCare are in unsafe districts. they would have voted for it otherwise)

correct me if i'm wrong but wouln't it have been easier to tax those wealthy people and give the middle class a major tax cut if their goal was to distribute the wealth?
why would they need 2000pgs of rules and reg 143 new departments, 16,000 new IRS agents etc etc if this was their goal.
Sorry but that was not the goal of the HC bill. the goal of the HC bill is to control the people period end of story.
This is simply another effort at framing the debate by the dems.

Man, this health care reform legislation sure is a cure-all. Control the deficit, create jobs, bend the cost curve, make health care free and close the income gap between the social classes. The only thing the bill doesn't do is give everybody a complimentary unicorn, but I'm sure Barack, Nancy and Harry are getting right on fixing that little hitch.

I had one dummy deny on my friend's Facebook page that Obama's a Socialist and, as evidence, linked to an article written by another Socialist saying, "Obama isn't a Socialist."
So I informed him that Barack had once been part of the Socialist New Party and linked the evidence.
All of the sudden this guy backtracks and says he hasn't looked at the evidence closely enough ... doesn't have the time, you see ... but you can't just make sweeping statements about very complex things.
Uh huh. Obama belonged to a Socialist party, was mentored by Marixsts, has sprinkled his administration with Communists, and said to Joe the Plumber that we should "spread the wealth around."
But that's too complex for a leftist pin head to come to a decision on.

The AP is cheerleading again:
Democrats near victorious end of health care fight
WASHINGTON – Capping an epic struggle, congressional Democrats applied the final touches Thursday to historic legislation enshrining health care as the right of every citizen. Republicans vowed to campaign for repeal in the fall election season, drawing a quick retort from President Barack Obama: "I welcome that fight."
[...]
Repeal was far-fetched in the extreme, since Republicans are now deep in the minority in both houses and would need a two-thirds majority to overcome a certain veto by Obama.

On Tuesday, after a year of debate, a century of trying, after so many of you shared your stories and your heartaches and your hopes, that promise was finally fulfilled. (Applause.) And today, health insurance reform is the law of the land all across America. (Applause.)
AUDIENCE: Yes we did! Yes we did! Yes we did! Yes we did! Yes we did! Yes we did! Yes we did!
OBAMA: ...Leaders of the Republican Party, they called the passage of this bill "Armageddon." (Laughter.) Armageddon. "End of freedom as we know it."
So after I signed the bill, I looked around to see if there any -- (laughter) -- asteroids falling or -- (applause) -- some cracks opening up in the Earth. (Laughter.) ObamaCare Signing: Ex-Con at the scene of the crime
Convicted felon Robert Creamer, who wrote the blueprint for the Democrats’ health care reform campaign, attended official health care signing celebrations in Washington, D.C. yesterday. He was joined by numerous activists and “community organizers” who have had their sights set on nationalizing health care and have finally achieved it. Creamer’s spouse, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, was one of the bill’s most vociferous proponents.

Cincinnati pushed a non-resident income tax by listing all the entertainers and athletes who would be screwed by it. Of course, the real target -- the real mother lode of cash -- were the people who worked for suburban firms (consultants, contractors, etc.) and had an assignment downtown.

The Hill: President Obama was amused by Joe Biden's "big f---- deal" outburst at Tuesday's healthcare signing ceremony, the VP said last night.
According to a pool report, Biden told the audience at a Baltimore fundraiser that Obama laughed about the remark on Wednesday morning.
“You know what the best thing about yesterday was?" Obama said, according to Biden. "Joe's comment."

Um...that kind of assumes that you're both using the same definition of "unfair distribution of wealth". I suspect that you're not. See that money in your pocket and bank account that isn't in his? Unfair. He got elected. What have you ever done to be allowed to keep any of the government's money?

And in the course of that legislation, how much concern will they show for liberty? None, at least not for meaningful liberty. Democrats will gladly let you perform any sexual perversion in public -- see Zombie's photo essays for what is acceptable on the streets of Democrat stronghold San Francisco -- but consider the idea of you owning the moments of your own life an obscenity.

67 Convicted felon Robert Creamer, who wrote the blueprint for the Democrats’ health care reform campaign, attended official health care signing celebrations in Washington, D.C. yesterday. He was joined by numerous activists and “community organizers” who have had their sights set on nationalizing health care and have finally achieved it. Creamer’s spouse, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, was one of the bill’s most vociferous proponents.
Very interesting!! The link at Big Government was written by Joel Pollak, a republican who is running for the 9th congressional seat in Illinois. Who currently holds that seat you ask? Rep Jan Schakowsky!!!!
Robert Creamer, Jan Schakowsky's husband, went to prison for kiting checks. As I remember it, he pleaded guilty. The money he stole from the check kiting went to his non-profit organization.
History on Joel Pollak - last year during the financial crises, Barney Frank made an appearance at Harvard and was talkin trash about how it was all everybody elses fault, and that he Barney Frank had nothing to do with it. Joel Pollak at that point was a 3rd year law student, and he's the one who raised his hand and started questioning Frank. Of course Barney got all flustered and attacked him (I'm sure he thought it would be a friendly crowd at Harvard Law, not a crowd hiding a closet republican). The video is at YouTube, and Fox had him on later that week to talk about it. I can never get stuff to imbed right so I'm not going to try.
Here's a link to Joel Pollak's campaign website. Hope it works:

That was a poor attempt at snark on my part. They don't have a frigging clue what their Messiah just got them into. In the new health care bill there is no premium deduction or addition because of age. They will be paying the same premium that I do.
That hits them in a couple of ways, it lessens the cost of an employer to hire a more experienced worker and it lowers their salary if they do get a job.
Staying on their parents health care only works if they live in their parents house and their parents agree to it. It's a talking point but not a very good one.

First, the soap box

Third, the jury box
Fourth, the cartridge box.
Unfortunately, we're probably down to options 3 and 4 at this point. Even if the GOP wins in November, so what? The economy will be so bad that their only options will be to cut services and raise taxes. Voters will just love that, and you know who the media will blame (and they'll be at least partly correct - the GOP has been pretty disastrous at handling the economy, too). That brings the Dems back to power in short order, and the Glorious Socialist Utopia becomes reality.

Europe is, by the accounts of my libertarian Dutch friend (they do exist), a great place to visit. You get the full "laid back, cultured" experience without witnessing the initiative-gutting suffocation of the welfare state. Oh, and the streets are so clean and nice!
Really, it's just like life on a college campus: carefully designed to make you kick back, join the drum circle, and forget about the massive debt you're racking up or the bills that your parents are paying.
Chickens do have a tendency of coming home to roost, though. Eventually.

Well, a couple of them insisted that the nationalized health care systems there work perfectly fine and that anyone who says differently is just a shill for the insurance companies (when do I get my check?!). So if they've visited, they evidently have not stayed that long.
Well if they want to pay massive tax rates and get shitty care then they should be all over it. The rich in Europe still have great care, they very often come to the US for it. If you are rich after paying your taxes you can buy private insurance and go to private hospitals.
And don't forget the clinics you can go to to kill yourself.

Have you noticed Obama only gives speeches about health care on college campuses and most of the students love them some health care. It's almost like they don't even know that they are the ones that are going to be paying for us old farts. I am sure someone like their professors or the media has explained that to them but they act like they love it.

@225: "So you're advocating what, exactly? I know what our options could be in TX, but what about the rest of the country? You have to "win" the rebellion before you can have a revolution. Would these other states be self-sustaining if they won independence?"
Not advocating anything. 52% of America voted for national socialism, and they're gonna get it, right along with the rest of us. The soap box hasn't stopped it. The ballot box hasn't stopped it. I don't really ever see the American public opting for the jury box, but who knows. That pretty much leaves the cartridge box. While there is probably enough anger for a rebellion/revolution/restoration/what have you, but there isn't really anyone to lead it, or to rebuild after.
There is, of course, the unspoken 5th box - and the one that I suspect that America will opt for: the "sit there and take it" box. I figure we'll get a lot of violence in small doses for a while, an economic collapse, and a national socialst state on the other side of it. And most of us will sit there and take it.

2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
7How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
It goes on & gets worse, but you get the picture.

The man The GOD in the White House sells hope. I don't. I lost mine after working for the GOP in Congress back in '97-'98. Watching the GOP at work, even then, I got the definite sense that the country was doomed - the GOP simply didn't have the will or inclination to stop what was coming as the Dems purged their moderates.
As Sam Elliott's General Buford said in Gettysburg:
"You know whats going to happen here in the morning? The whole damn Reb army is going to be here. They'll move through this town, occupy these hills on the other side, and when our people get here, Lee will have the high ground. There will be the devil to pay! The high ground! Meade will come in slowly, cautiously. New to command. They'll be on his back in Washington. Wire hot with messages: 'Attack! Attack!'. So he will set up a ring around these hills. And when Lee's army is nicely entrenched behind fat rocks on the high ground, Meade will finally attack, if he can coordinate the army. Straight up the hillside, out in the open, in that gorgeous field of fire. We will charge valiantly... and be butchered valiantly! And afterwards men in tall hats and gold watch fobs will thump their chest and say what a brave charge it was. Devin, I've led a soldier's life, and I've never seen anything as brutally clear as this."
Buford was wrong, but only because he, Reynolds, and Hancock didn't dawdle and actually fought. The GOP lacks a Buford, Reynolds, or Hancock. Hell, we don't even have someone with Pickett's reckless courage.

True story, today in Art History, my professor equated Conservatives to the Nazis of WWII. I wanted to walk out so badly.
One of my daughters is really getting educated in this crap too, but in highschool. We talk a lot in our home about politics, history, etc. So far not too much indoctrination. They have to have always have a book available for silent reading and so far this year she's taken among others "Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin, "Culture of Corruption" by Michelle Malkin, "Slobbering Love Affair" by Bernard Goldberg, "Shut Up and Sing" by Laura Ingraham. I've told her she may lose some of her friends because of their families' uber liberal stances (witness the defriending on Facebook described here among adults!). She doesn't give a shit. I'm so proud and sometimes I wonder where she got the strength and fortitude. Hope it continues as I think she will need it!!!

When I was in a high school, a couple of years ago, we read Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" and watched Micheal Moore movies *spits*. I live in the Bay Area. I was a starry-eyed, leftist, brain-dead sheep in order to fit in with the people around me, but deep down I knew it was all crap. I was lying to myself. But one day I realized that I was being an idiot and a coward, and that I really shouldn't give a shit about what those people thought of me. It can be hard sometimes, since the people around here consider conservatives to be pure evil. But really, the opinions of the libtards don't have much if any value, so who gives a damn what they think? Your daughter is brave to bring those books to class, good for her for being so secure in herself and her beliefs! Yes, she'll definitely need it, especially in the days to come, 'cause it isn't going to be pretty.

Those kiddies on that video are an excellent advertisement for the benefits of spanking your children and making them mind. Let's face it Boomers and X'ers, Dr. Spock and all those "I'm ok, you're ok" experts on child raising were full of crap -- and now we will all pay for it (fyi: I'm one of those 'tweeners that fell between the boom and the x...and am now directly behind the eight ball).
Not that I would do anything of the sort.; I would never touch a hair on my little precious' darling heads and tell them they are wonderful to bolster their self-esteem on a daily basis.

Your smugness betrays your complete lack of class. You lack of graciousness denotes not only poor character, but a lack of self esteem. For as arrogant as you are, it is all too apparent that you are insecure and full of bitterness. We will happily, "bring it on." We do it not because you are a jerk that needs to be humbled, but because we place the interests of the country above all else. We not only will "bring it," we'll at least act with a modicum of dignity and class after you have been sent back to Hyde Park with your carpet bag. So with all due respect, Mr. President, screw you, sir. We'll see you in the next election, and when it's all over don't let the White House door hit you on the tuckus on the way out.

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
Who would have thunk the domestic enemy of the Constitution would be the radical Socialist President and the Democratic Party!

Some other ideas: Get conservative faculty to sit in on these classes and snicker or fight back. Tenure works both ways. And their grade doesn't suffer.
In some cases, you might be able to make a case to get the FEC on their ass for an in-kind campaign contribution. You'd have to have the video and you'd probably lose the case, but you could start up a stink.

@331: "I'm confident they'll appear, as such men/women always do...at our darkest moment of need."
Maybe, if we get lucky. There are some in the GOP who seem promising - if they don't go native. Plus, the GOP has to simply learn to embrace the fact that the media is against them, and not worry about it. Relish the black hat, and mock the guys who try to attack them.

I've been so furious, I've been just incapable of talking about it with anyone. And then seeing the dem's spin, their sudden attempt to criminalize people who disagree. The smug smarminess as the Party Politburo Elite like Frau Pelosi, et al, rubbed their successful bribery, lies, and power usurpation in our faces - it suddenly felt like they're telling us to "shut up, peasant" or we'll taste the lash. They've taken the MSM, utterly. They can whip up any lie they want, they can force anything through they just figured out, and they have no limits on them.
They're trying to make us into peasants, serfs, and slaves. They see anyone to the right of Sinclair Lewis to be illiterate subhumans. It's obvious, look at them attempt to paint normal Americans as bloodthirsty savages. This is what they do. This is how they always operate. This is how the Hard Left starts to choose the victims.
When someone as staid, unflappable, and rather boring as John Hindraker at Powerline says
It is important for the Democrats and their press minions to understand that there are many millions of Americans who regard Obamacare not just as misguided public policy, but as an illegitimate usurpation of power. I am one of the many millions who are outraged at the Left's attempt to destroy the private health care system that has served my family so well, and who regard Obamacare as illegitimate.
Then I think it's a hell of a larger issue than the MSM, Politburo, and Administration are thinking. In fact, because of what they are (divorced from American ideals and love of country) means that they really can't understand what they've gone and done. They probably do think that it's no big deal. And I am afraid they'll continue in the same manner which will ultimately go very bad - inevitably bad.

Step 2: after premiums go through the roof, put a cap on 'em.
Step 3a: bail out the last few standing insurance companies ala GM, AIG, Chrysler, CitiBank, etc.
Step 3b: let all the insurance companies go bankrupt and institute Gooberment Healthcare.
Posted by: Cooter at March 25, 2010 07:20 PM (OYw0U)
This isn't necessarily a slam dunk. BO says 'go for it' because he knows when we do his base out will come out to vote. He needs to get his base out to stem the losses. There will be Dem losses but the passage of the health care take over makes taking the House more difficult. Their base is going to be fired up to protect it. However if we don't go for it our base won't come out. Besides it's the right thing to do.
So the question is how do we go for it, depress the looney left and win back the House all at the same time?

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the real beneficiaries of this new healthcare legislation will be the healthcare industry; i.e., corporations comprised mostly of doctors and other entrepreneurs, who own and in some cases operate hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, nursing homes, walk-in clinics, private duty nursing agencies, etc., which have been stiffed for many years by people who couldn't afford to pay for the services which they received, or who were turned away, depriving those corporations of those revenues, too.
In fact, contrary to what the disingenuous propogandists are saying, all doctors will profit big time from this legislation. Watch: They will be charging even more for their services than they are already charging now. This legislation will be a windfall for doctors, as if they aren't wealthy enough already, and so medical costs will continue to skyrocket out of control.
Think about it. It won't be the indigent who will benefit. It will be the corporations and individual doctors, who, I suspect, own Democrats, who don't do anything for anybody, unless they have something to gain from it for themselves, like pay-offs under the table. Democrats don't do anything for anybody out of the goodness of their hearts.

Dear Employees:
As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn;t know how to choose who would have to go.
So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty 'Obama bumper stickers on our employee's cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change....I gave it to them.
I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.
