Posted by: EC at April 01, 2010 09:44 AM (mAhn3)

19 This is fucking fantastic.

I'm sorry, but I have to give these assholes some money.  If this is the kind of advertisement that money is going to buy, then I just have to do it.  I hope they learned their lesson in Florida with Crist.  Stay out of primaries and keep making awesome, intelligent, entertaining advertisements.

If this is the 2012 message, Obama will not win a single state.  Not California.  Not New Jersey.  Nor Massachusetts or even Illinois.  People do not like liars.

24 @18

It's true that great pie is a wondrous thing.  I'd kill for a well-made peach pie, for example.  And, pie has the advantage of having a wider array of types: cream pies, single crust, double crust, fruit pies, graham cracker crust, etc.

However, I think cake > pie.  It's more reliably good and it's (particularly cupcakes) a soothing reminder of childhood.

80 Frankly, if you don't send them $20 today, they won't think this kind of shit is wanted.  Money talks, folks.

This is one of the few Republican committee activities that has been worth a damn lately.

A lot of people cut them off over Cornyn-Crist.  The RNC is aimless and wasteful, too.  When the occasionally do things right, you have to give them a little treat.

Trust me, if a few thousands conservatives gave them $20 today, it would have a massive effect on the NRSC's behavior going forward.  Let them know that they can succeed by appealing to our attitude and view.  And don't contribute again until they do something else that impresses you.

And keep giving directly to the best candidates, although we actually do need well funded committees like this, too.

Posted by: throwaway handle at April 01, 2010 10:26 AM (dUOK+)

81 Unless, of course, you don't want the NRSC to change or recover, and you just want to burn them to the ground over their mistakes.  To me, the entire point of the outrage was to get them back on track as quickly as possible.  We have to do that real damn soon.

86 Ever have a dog you needed to train?  I have an amazing dog now that used to be a total pain.  I would scold her when she screwed up, but that wasn't enough to cement good behavior.  I had to give her a treat when she did good.

She was an abandoned breeding bitch with no idea how to deal with people (like Jeff Goldstein or Perez Hilton... basically the same person I guess).  A scared dog that bit folks and contributed nothing to the family.  Now she's simply the smartest and most loyal dog imaginable.  She got there because I rewarded her when she first started behaving well.

It's common sense, and I know I'm shilling for the NRSC.  But we have a limited window to cement this behavior in those assholes.  Let them know there's an upside to favoring the Aceofspades types.  They are looking for some good news like that, and will follow through.  You'll see ads like this on TV in swing states.  And isn't that exactly what you want?  Isn't that worth a lot more than $25 given to nrsc.org/donations ?

Do it today, and withhold further contributions until they please you again.  While contributing to individual candidates primarily makes a ton of sense, we do need some kind of committee funding.  We can't succeed without this too.

This is true.  The ad got lame at that point.  There was no reason to 'set the record straight'.  Anyone too stupid to realize that this proves Obama is a fucking liar, is too stupid to ever wake up no matter what you throw at him.

But I think this is the best political ad I've seen in ages, if ever.   If you're going to 'set the record straight' by blatantly admitting this is a  joke, keep that part very blunt and short.

The problem with smart republicans is that they are worried about the people who are dumb enough to keep believing everything the democrats say.  So they have to make every message so fucking patronizing and obvious that they work against themselves.  And isn't that why the first half of this ad is so refreshing?  They are relying on you to realize Obama's a liar.

How about we throw ALL of them out?

I refuse to choose between a hand grenade and a shit sandwich.

I'll vote for a libertarian-conservative candidate who is dedicated to free market small government principles.  I will NOT give money to the Republican party machine.

I went to the NRSC's page and what did I find?

John McCain.

Now I'm not one of those nitwits who thinks that JD Hayworth is a worthy candidate.  If he did his job properly in the house then he would still be there.

Is this the quality of candidates we can expect to see?  Is this the best that we can do?

I'm sick of it.
