As to why the Gubbermint is pushing the Volt, that's easy. It will be a lemon, and need repairs. And since it is new technology, it will have to be repaired at the dealerships. Dealerships who probably have union mechanics.

Never owned a Ford product in my life, but I just bought a used one as a backup pickup truck. Have a Toyota that even though not the top of the Toyota line is unbelievably well made and will be with me for some time. The Volt will barely get me to work, let alone be useful ( wonder what the speed and acceleration are like when the battery is running low--oh wait, that's when the premium gas backup engine will turn on to save the day, not to worry). One little problem there is that a lot of gas stations don't carry premium anymore, and those that do add at least 20 cents per gallon over the price of regular. Add the convenience of those public charging stations locate about every twenty miles and you have a green committee designed vehicle. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!

I contract with Toyota on their steel side, (yes, they do a lot more than just cars), and of all the large companies I've worked with, they are the shit. Everyone works their asses off, they actually try to help your business succeed, and their products are top of the line. The only other company that is even close is one in S Korea. The American companies pretty much suck these days. It's terribly depressing. Oh, and I should add, Toyota pays their bills. All of them. On time. None of the American companies do.

We need a return to Constitutionalism which is to say it's a bridge so far removed from what the country understands that a brief interlude from Team Obama's Marxism won't be enough. There's a Progressive momentum in our political class that cannot be undone. Actually, The Precedent is improving.  When a Kansas tornado killed 12, the Indonesian Imbecile announced that 10,000 had been killed.  During the health scare debate, the retarded liar claimed that foot amputations cost "30,000 ... 40,000 ... even 50,000 dollars" when the actual cost of the procedure was around $1,000.

I had a 2004 trailblazer, within like 8 months the transmission blew apart.  Took it in, and they replaced the sun gear and shroud.  6 months later, it failed again, this time taking the entire transmission with it.  They refused to honor the warranty because I was "Over towing" with a 2800 pound pop up camper.

Eventually, (after threatening them with a lawyer) I got a credit towards a new Tahoe.

Never again.  As soon as the Tahoe has had it, probably going to buy a Tundra.

PS Look up sun gear failure and GM and you will see what I am talking about.  Apparently GM thought it would be OK to use 1/8th inch sheet metal stamped gear in the transmission.

Chrysler did the same thing. Bought a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee, evaporator coil in the ac went bad, fixed it under warranty. Bought a 99 JGC, evaporator coil in ac goes bad, fixed under warranty. Jeep swears they don't have a problem. Several years later I discover my radiator is leaking, my mechanic looks at it, shows me the problem. Chrysler used a piece of plastic as a fitting in the radiator.

I have owned Chrysler, Honda, GM, and Mitsubishis, I will never buy a GM or Chrysler ever again even though I love the new Grand Cherokee.

GM stockholders deserved to be wiped out.  They owned a company that was worth less than nothing.  They had wiped themselves out.  It was the GM bondholders who got screwed, with criminal complicity by the federal courts and the SCOTUS.

the local Teamsters up here are picketing Dunkin Donuts.

I was driving by this morning and they were standing in front of one of the stores with a sign telling people to boycott Dunkin Donuts.

I snapped and freaked out. Beeping my horn and giving them my finger.

Had a similar experience here in LA.  Goof balls picketing a local ARCO station.  One guy has a sign that reads "BP is criminal", I yelled out the window, "Obama is a criminal".  The guy responds back in a whining tone, "No he isn't, asshole".

I turn to my 14 year old daughter and say, "see, a typical Obama robot".  We pulled in the ARCO station to fill up the tank of the SUV.
