A suspected U.S. drone fired six missiles into a compound in North Waziristan, killing 13 suspected militants Friday, according to a Pakistani intelligence official and a local government.

Wasn't us.  All our drones are right here.

Yay Barry! Way to go, Champ! Throw out a totally useless deadline and then...what? What happens if they can't fix the problem in two days? Widdle Barry can't confiscate the company because it isn't American. Maybe Widdle Barry can order all BP gas stations closed until the leak stops?

Well, only 13 that we know about.

Maybe Vince Foster was there.

This is, in a way, reminiscent of Somalia in '93, when the Clinton Administration was sleepwalking into a bad situation there.  At one point, they massaccered a large part of the tribal leadership of the tribe which "warlord" Mohammed Farah Aidid was a part of, with a barage of TOW missiles launched from helicopters.

That kinda put the hash on the fire, so to speak. We are either killing off the Taliban and al Qaeda leadership (and maybe winning the war?) or else making a lot of bad mistakes.  And I frankly don't know the truth of it, but it was interesting to read the limp wristed comments at the CNN blog.

Oooh, innocents are being killed. Wake up, lunkheads, that happens all the time in war. That's what makes wars something to be avoided.

39 we're in effect trying to 'create' a country. it past time to realize that afghanistan is basically a region only and not a unified nation state. it's just one big tribal area with a bunch of nincompoops running around with guns. we've been there for too long, i say screw em and let em kill each other. if any more trouble comes from out of there, go to the bombing campaign. we can't save em all you know, but we can level the place at will.

40 How many weddings parties we take out?

Given the number of times we supposedly took out wedding parties I figure the jihadis have a one trick propaganda pony... then again, it may be the only time that a bunch of high-value targets get together, kind of like a combined Gambino / Soprano family reunion... irresistible.

From daves link

Alston also urged the Obama administration to disclose the number of civilians killed in the drone strikes.

Hell Obama can now even assasinate Americans that the "obama team" might deem terrororists: with nary a  screech right or left.

Disclosures of LAW are only necessary with a REPUB administration.

55 Yeah...there's a little consistency, but they should be protesting the guy giving the orders, not the young guys carrying them out.  (Yeah, yeah, Nuremburg Trials, but the purpose of war is not to die for your country--it's to make the other bastard die for his.  The only difference between the drone and the planes they used to fly is if a drone goes down, no one gets a headstone in Saratoga National Cemetery in the section for those lost whose remains could not be recovered.)

64 Drones are the perfect tool for the Glowing Leper™ tactic.  You announce that, say, Mullah Omar is a dead man.  He may think he's alive but he's only walking meat.  You further announce that any building, hut, or cave where we suspect Omar is hiding will be smote, collateral damage notwithstanding.  Then you proceed to do so.  After awhile, nobody wants the leper to hang around anymore.

I live in MN; been deer hunting the same area for 20 years.  They've actually increased the limit on deer you can take, especially does.  The bag limit depends on where in the state you hunt.

Used to be you could shoot one deer per year, and unless you got a doe permit (done by lottery), it had to be a buck.

Then they started issuing bonus permits, allowing you to take two deer, one of which had to be antlerless.

Now, we can take up to 5- and only one of them can be a mature buck.  The rest have to be antlerless.  They also initiated an early season a couple weeks before the regular season in which you can only shoot antlerless deer.  In addition, they've opened our area to rifles- used to be by shotgun slug (or archery) only.

This is all due to a high deer population.  As we've gotten more urbanized, hunting just isn't as popular as it once was.

Let's Hellfire the U.N. building until it's leveled.  Hunt down those UN honcho windbags, too.  While we're at it, clip Hugo Chavez, Kim Jong Il, and A-hole-dumijad, too.

If Paki bites our feeding hand we can drop a few canisters of bubonic plague and typhus, and the place will be a crap-filled  morgue within a week.

We've suffered 2% of the fatalities that we had in Viet Nam, collateral damage is at a minimum, too. It won't get much better as time goes on, because the nutty muzzies want to come over here.  We need to be ready to defend ourselves here in the States from the domestic and infiltrated enemies.

Keeping our hands clean now is suicidal.  Let's get the job done right over there and back here, so that we are not permeated with religious and political extremists.  Otherwise, those lives were lost in vain.
