— Ace Well Hello Mr. Fancypants!
Eh. Why not. Let's do this for real.
- AP sources: Obama will visit Massachusetts to help endangered Democratic Senate candidate.
That's all for now.
I assume he will do this on Monday night. Most impact on his clueless braindead followers, least time to rouse the anti-Obama sentiment.
Nope, Sunday.
Remain Calm, All Is Well!

Massachusetts was once the core of the anti-slavery movement. It helped make history last year by electing me President. Now, I come before you to ask that you help make history one more time by voting for... uh, her over there.
Some may say that, uh, her over there is an uninspired party hack who can't even run a Democratic campaign in Massachusetts without outside help, let alone a subcommittee in Congress. I say to you, it is to me that you look to inspiration. All I need from her over there is all I need from you: a rubber stamp.

Imo there is more to this than meets the eye. I don't think that he would be going if his handlers were not 100% convinced that Coakley will (not could - will) win.
In other words, a lot of dead voters, unregistered voters, voters from other states and voters casting multiple ballots will be part of the voting.
They just needed to make certain that the mechanisms were in place.
If Obama goes to MA and loses, it will be a stake in the heart of his presidency. The Dems will abandon him en masse.

Obama should simply proclaim that the Senate seat vacated by Kennedy is a member of a protected and endangered species, so indeed, a Democrat must be appointed, not elected. You know, as part of the Endangered Species Act.

c) sends threatening letters to members of local garden clubs?
d) declares that there are no terrorists in Afghanistan?
etc.. etc..
That's the message the president wants to send to the entire country? Well, good luck with that. Corzine spent truckloads of of his own cash, ran a far better campaign (by an order of magnitude); Obama made numerous visits to the "Garden State" and Corzine still lost to a fat man in indigo-blue NJ.

At the start of the primary season, Coakley was so tone deaf as to start her campaign for the seat before Ted Kennedy died, causing allegations that Coakley had shown disrespect for Teddy. A candidate can't use state funds for a federal campaign, but that's exactly what Coakley has done. The state GOP was the first to pick up on this, saying she had paid roughly $30,000 to people on her payroll who had the ostensible job of helping with her AG run in 2010. Only problem is, these people are also helping her now with her Senate campaign. Coakley has publicly called the allegation petty politics, but she also quietly moved $35,000 from her state campaign coffers to her federal ones. The Federal Election Committee has taken the complaint from the state GOP under review. http://tinyurl.com/yddypna

I'm thinking along those lines, too. A Sunday evening appearance, maybe a couple photo-ops and some encouraging words, then a quick hop back down to DC? Sounds a whole lot less effective than if he spent all day Monday traveling the State drawing large crowds while selling Martha Coakley to the masses.
Good. Whether he thinks he doesn't need to do all that, or he simply doesn't want to, it's good news for us.

If Obama drags Coakley's corpse over the finish line by a percentage point or two (i.e. the worst case scenario where his showing up really does provide a margin for victory) then so what? How pathetic is it that he had to show up in MASSACHUSETTS to save TED KENNEDY'S SEAT from an AWFUL TEABBAGGER SCUMSUCKING RETHUGLIKKKAN?
The narrative, even in the worst case scenario, just writes itself.

If he wins the state Dems will do what they can to delay his certification while the Washington Dems move negotiations on the current bills to Ludicrous Speed.
Here is something else that wouldn't surprise me if he wins: numerous allegations by the local Dems of fraud and voter intimidation by the Brown campaign and the GOP, which will of course "require" the Senate to delay seating him until such heinous charges are investigated.

This is what Scott Brown is up against up here, folks. This is Massachusetts and you can be the biggest piece of shit (e.g., Ted Kennedy) and people will vote for you because you're a Democrat. Given how much the costs of an actual loss outweigh the costs of a perceived loss, Dem strategists are confused about why the WH has not set an event, even with VP Biden, in the race's crucial final days.
But, in reality, the situation is a lot worse for Dems than it appears. According to strategists familiar with internal polls conducted for Coakley's campaign, the consequences of Obama's visit could produce a net-negative effect on Coakley's campaign...
But the intensity of voters who view him unfavorably, or who disapprove of his job performance, is so high that an appearance with Coakley could bring out more GOPers ready to vote for Brown than it could Dems set on their nominee.
"Obama is radioactive in polls," said one senior Dem operative who has seen the campaign's internal numbers. "Every time they dropped his name in a poll, it was awful. So you just can't take those kinds of chances."
There are other considerations too. Obama has moved quickly to address the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Haiti, and combined with the WH's stated focus on creating jobs to turn around the economy, he risks the appearance of putting politics at the fore at an inopportune time.

For the benefit of Mrs. Coak.
There will be a show tonight, on trampoline.
The Kennedys will all be there
Late of Arlington, he is there, what a scene.
Over men and fences, hoops, and reporters
Lastly through a hogshead of real gin!
In this way Mrs. C. will challenge the world!
The celebrated Mrs. C.
Performs her feat on Sunday, for Senate votes.
The MSM will dance and sing
As Mrs. Coak. flies through the ring, don't be late
Messrs. C & O assure the public
Their production will be second to none
And of course Chris The Tingler dances the waltz-!
(Circus organ music)
The band begins at ten to six
When Mrs. C. performs her tricks, without applause.
And Mr. O. will demonstrate
Ten stutters and uhhs he'll undertake, on solid ground.
Having been some days in preparation
A splendid time is guaranteed for all
And tonight Mrs. Coakley is topping the bill!
(Circus organ music.)
Most profound apologies to the Beatles.

You don't get it. There's nothing to be afraid of. This was Teddy "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy's seat. Anything but an overwhelming landslide victory is cause for Democratic concern.
Right now this is a disaster for the Democrats even if they win big. If they lose then Obama is 0 for 4 in rescue efforts. Worse yet, he'll have abandoned the dead and dying in Haiti to do it.
This is a no-lose situation. Meaningless political overanalysis would just detract from it.

Paraphrasing, you're saying the Republicans have already won. And that's probably true to some extent.
The fact that a Republican can seemingly come out of nowhere and come within striking distance of taking Ted "the people" Kennedy's seat away from a Dem insider in the bluest of blue states MA, has just GOT to have shaken every Democrat muckety-muck to the core.
Again, Obama wouldn't be showing up for this at the 11th hour unless his handlers were seriously scared.

414 Another reason this is so stupid is that this seat is "in play" because of policies that Obama is pushing. Shit noone wants.
Another great column today:
The Fall of ObamaBy Charles Krauthammer
WASHINGTON -- What went wrong? A year ago, he was king of the world. Now President Obama's approval rating, according to CBS, has dropped to 46 percent -- and his disapproval rating is the highest ever recorded by Gallup at the beginning of an (elected) president's second year...
Liberals try to attribute Obama's political decline to matters of style. He's too cool, detached, uninvolved. He's not tough, angry or aggressive enough with opponents. He's contracted out too much of his agenda to Congress.
These stylistic and tactical complaints may be true, but they miss the major point: The reason for today's vast discontent, presaged by spontaneous national Tea Party opposition, is not that Obama is too cool or compliant but that he's too left.
It's not about style; it's about substance...
Hence the resistance. Hence the fall. The system may not always work, but it does take its revenge.

LetÂ’s be clear here, Brown-Coakley is a fight between the working classes and the nonworking classes. If you have a job, if you pay your own way, then youÂ’re for Scott Brown. Rudy in Boston this morning:
“(Coakley’s) ignorance on the issues is astounding,” Giuliani said. “What the heck does she think we’re doing there?
"Believe me they are frightened. When you challenge arrogant power there’s nothing that fights back harder,” Giuliani said. “I always thought Scott had a good chance, but it’s even farther than we thought it would go. He’s ahead. We’ve got to keep sustaining this.”
“I love campaigning here because frankly, they feed me,” joked Giuliani. He and Brown made stops at a fire station, Caffe Vittoria and the Connah Store while taking pictures as they walked down Hanover Street.
Brown stopped in Modern Pastry, where he got a canoli that left powdered sugar on the corners of his mouth.

Personally I doubt one can underestimate the stupidity of the average MA voter and counting on them to vote for anyone to the right of Pelosi is a pretty lousy wager. They kept relecting a guy that left a woman to slowly drown with his unborn child for 40 years. They repeatedly reelected that piece of human garbage, Coakley could probably say she is in favor of abortions up until the terrible 2's and be elected there.

Jan. 15 (Bloomberg) -- About 25 percent of homeowners who received trial loan modifications through President Barack ObamaÂ’s main foreclosure prevention plan are failing to keep up with their new reduced payments, the Treasury Department said.
“None of these programs have really been a success,” said Vivek Srirem, a mortgage strategist for RBC Capital Markets in New York. “With the high unemployment rate, it’s tough to solve the problem because these people will redefault even if their loan terms are fixed.”

And for all us military-loving morons, snips from a lengthy profile emphasizing his guard service at Boston Globe:
At the end of his junior year at Tufts University, Scott P. Brown did not take a typical summer job like many of his classmates. Instead, he spent two months in Army basic training at Fort Dix, N.J., after joining the Massachusetts National Guard.
Three decades later, Brown is a lieutenant colonel in the GuardÂ… BrownÂ’s years as a citizen-soldier inform many aspects of his personal and political ethic: the value of discipline and physical fitness, his beliefs about national security, war, and peace, and his priorities in the Legislature...
As a legislator, he has served on the Veterans and Federal Affairs Committee, the Hidden Wounds of War Commission, and the GovernorÂ’s Task Force on Returning Veterans. He lists among his achievements his authorship of a 2007 law that created a check-off box on state income tax forms for veterans to indicate whether they served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
“Basic training helped to make me a totally Type A person, organized and on time,’’ Brown said. “It’s why I am like I am. I can bring it right back to basic training. I remember it like it was yesterday.’’
Brown describes himself as “probably one of the most qualified soldiers in the entire Massachusetts [Guard],’’ having been an enlisted man and trained in infantry, airborne, and quartermaster duties and joining the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 1994.
As a judge advocate, Brown has a range of duties in the 6,200-soldier Guard. He defends soldiers facing disciplinary action before administrative discharge boards, provides estate planning advice, and has even helped in real estate transactions to those deploying overseas to war zones.
“I’m the head trial defense attorney… I do everything.’’

“I’d give you a beer,’’ Farren says, “but I don’t have any money for it.’’
“Oh, they tax the beers, too,’’ Brown says. “There’s a beer tax, a sales tax, a meals tax, a hotel tax. And yesterday they were looking at, check this out, a tax for gas. They were going to raise it 20, 30, 40 cents, and they’re thinking - there’s been conversations - about putting a chip in your registration to tax your miles.’’
“What I’m hearing is that people are saying: ‘You know what, Scott? I just don’t like the way things are going. I’m angry. I’m frustrated. They’re just taxing us back to the Stone Age, and I’m going to give you a shot,’ ’’ he says.
It is mad-as-hell, not-gonna-take-it-anymore language, but Brown is chipper. For all the perceived ills he is describing - not just taxes but a staggering deficit, harmful health care legislation, and the coddling of terrorists - he is a gracious guest.
“The hot chocolate is amazing,’’ Brown says, drawing out the last word. He makes small talk about youth sports, about golden retrievers that act “psycho.’’ He is a 6-foot-2 former model and college basketball star in a trimly tailored suit, but in demeanor he is just another dorky dad, a few months past 50...
And he knows his Republican base is fired up, fired up over health care, fired up about lacking power in Washington, fired up that Democrats consider the Senate seat of Edward M. Kennedy theirs forever. He also knows that the base alone will not get him elected, not even in a low-turnout special election...
********
Brown is a self-described Type-A person, prompt, alert, in control. He is a triathlete who, until recently, worked out daily for an hour or more, usually before 6 a.m.
********
Brown is moving about the stage with the confidence of a man who believes the room is divided between those who are already with him, and those who can be won over.
He sprinkles in jokes. He frontloads his speech with tax talk. He says he learned everything he knows about constituent service from Ted Kennedy. He declares himself a straight-shooter and free thinker. He says he has always been an underdog...

Hey now, I was being sarcastic about "good". and yes they were ferrets.
I will say I do like the movies Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and the sequel to it.
If that makes me a bad person so be it.

I have the first one but not the second, although Death in the 2nd was pretty funny.

Third most emailed story at Boston Globe website:
Martha Coakley made a jaw-dropping declaration earlier this week at the only live televised debate in Boston that she has deigned to do. She said, and I quote, “I’ve traveled the state and met tremendous people.’’
If she did, it was under the cover of darkness, with an assumed name.
********
Literally, she all but vanished. She refused to debate on TV unless it was exactly on her terms. She went days without venturing out in public. When she did appear, it was typically to accept endorsements from elected officials or union heads in front of supportive crowds. She may have gone the first month of the campaign without ever meeting an honest-to-goodness rank-and-file undecided resident.
********
At a rare meet-and-greet with voters Wednesday, she worked a room of a couple of hundred senior citizens in Dorchester in under 10 minutes. Then she turned her back on the crowd as she spoke to reporters, leaving the seniors to awkwardly applaud remarks they werenÂ’t meant to hear.
As she quickly made her way to the exits, it took an outreach worker at the senior center to insist that she address the crowd...
Voters are smart. They want their next senator to take on all comers, to be aggressive and passionate in pursuit of such a critical office at a singular time. In Coakley, they see someone who hasnÂ’t earned their support. Worse, they see someone who assumed sheÂ’d get it...

Coakley attack ad: http://tinyurl.com/ya8lxkq
The narrator in the 30-second spot by the American Future Fund says that, "300,000 Massachusetts workers don't have jobs. But incredibly, Martha Coakley says 'we need to get taxes up.'"
The quote comes from a primary debate when Coakley seemed to suggest that the economy needed to improve so that tax collections would rise.
"We do need to get out of this recession, also, and that requires, I think, looking at a couple of things," she said during a debate at Suffolk University, in response to a question about lowering the federal deficit. "There's no magic bullet to this. We need to get people back to work, we need to get taxes up, and weÂ’ll start to chip away at that deficit."
What an idiot. HereÂ’s how the ad ends. Maybe we should all call, or should we have a drink first?
"Call Martha Coakley and tell her we can't afford more taxes and wasteful spending: 617-727-2200"

Thanks for the heads up. I did rember she left Boston for a while. I guess the snow there reminds her of Kenya?
Probably better free shit in Boston than Ohio would be my bet.

More from Big Government. Note Frisoli was named "Lawyer of the Year" prior to running up against DA Martha Coakley.
Larry Frisoli was called by the family of the raped toddler to represent them. After the mother of the raped toddler took the child to the hospital, the hospital notified DSS that the child had been molested and or abused. The DSS came to the parentÂ’s home, and tried to take the child away; thinking the parents had perpetrated the crime. The parents called family friend and attorney Larry Frisoli to sort out the madness.
As we now know, and what seemed clear to Larry and his clients very early in the case, was that the child had been left in the care of Policeman Keith Winfield, the uncle of the child, the prior day. Officer Winfield, during his hour alone with his 23-month old niece, raped her with a hot curling iron.
Larry took the case and immediately took action to get Keith Winfield put away for his crimes. What he didnÂ’t realize was that he was about to go against then Middlesex DA Martha Coakley, who for reasons I will allow readers to conclude from Frank FrisoliÂ’s recounting of the facts and allegations in an email he provided to us today, would not bring charges against the Toddler Rapist and dragged the process out so long that her successor had to put Winfield away. Coakley allowed this toddler rapist to stay on the streets for over 2 years and she let him out of custody on No BAIL.
Larry Frisoli very quickly sensed there was something afoul with CoakleyÂ’s handling of the case: Larry had what seemed like an open and shut case against a public menace and monster, but CoakleyÂ’s office was moving at a snailÂ’s pace and refused to take action against the officer after calling a grand jury.
CoakleyÂ’s handling of the incident was so alarming to Larry Frisoli, that he decided to run against her in the MassachusettsÂ’ Attorney General race; solely due to his perceived mishandling of the case by DA Coakley.
What happened next sent the FrisoliÂ’s over the edge: CoakleyÂ’s campaign attacked Larry and said he was using the case to publicize his political ambitions and that Larry Frisoli had wanted to run all along. Larry went on to lose the race to Coakley and sadly passed away in 2008, but not before he put away Keith Winfield for life with the help of CoakleysÂ’ successor: Gerry Leone.
And, so, in the words of the LarryÂ’s brother, and the one person alive who has access to all of the files, facts, and timelines, I will let readers conclude what happened in this horrifying case. Why did it take so long for Coakley to take action? Why did Coakley push for no action by the grand jury? Why would she release a toddler rapist with no bail and let him walk the streets for 2 years? On no bail?

Whose quote:
Obama or Aristide? From misery to poverty with dignity! Do these guys have the same speech writers? Spread the wealth has become passé, and trickle up poverty, though cute, lacks gravitas.
Point being, neither ObamaÂ’s trip to trump Massachusetts with New Black Panthers and union thugs at the voting precincts nor AristideÂ’s return to Haiti are welcome signs usurping Constitutional authority for their own fraudulent extension of corrupt power.
Both Obama and Aristide promote Marxist Black Supremacist “Liberation Theology.”

DCCC Rapid Response
Michelle –
I want to ask for your personal help in the Special Election for my fatherÂ’s seat taking place in just 4 days.
The latest polls show Democrat Martha Coakley in the lead, but her Republican opponent is right on her heels in a race that represents the critical 60th vote for health insurance reform and the rest of President ObamaÂ’s agenda.
Please help us by making calls at Democratic National Headquarters in DC between now and Election Day on Tuesday. Together we can make thousands of calls that will put this great candidate over the top.
Please sign up to volunteer in DC.
Thank you so much. Your efforts will make a big difference in this race!
Sincerely,
Rep. Patrick Kennedy

I was looking at Brown's wiki page today. Last week it had next to nothing, today mentions some fights he may have had with relatives protecting his mom and sisters. Relatives may have been/are alcoholics. He must have put this out to defuse what may be coming.

Well as long as it isn't a waitress sandwich or timeshare he should be ok.
Because we all know voters in Massachusettes would NEVER vote for a person with "substance abuse" issues.

@232: "Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. . . . This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!"
