President Barack Obama said Americans' "fear and frustration" is to blame for an intense midterm election cycle that threatens to derail the Democratic agenda."Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now and facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time is because we're hardwired not to always think clearly when we're scared,” Obama said Saturday evening in remarks at a small Democratic fundraiser Saturday evening. “And the country's scared.”
Obama told the several dozen donors that he was offering them his “view from the Oval Office.” He faulted the economic downturn for Americans’ inability to “think clearly” and said the burden is on Democrats “to break through the fear and the frustration people are feeling.”
“You can respond in a couple of ways to a trauma like this,” Obama said, referring to the economy. “One is to pull back, retrench and respond to your fears by pushing away challenges, looking backwards. Another is to say we can meet these challenges and we are going to move forward. And that’s what this election is about.”
Most Democrats believe this, or some variation of it; but 90% of office-holders do not say it. They do not give in to their angry id and impugn voters' judgments over the sin of deeming their failures to be actual failures.
Bill Clinton tended to avoid this almost always.
But Obama is different. He believes this deeply, and furthermore, he has such an ego that he feels he'd be demeaning himself to suppress his true beliefs.
He won't lower himself to your level -- it's that simple. Clinton would, Obama won't.

He believes that his pet policies about taking over this country are supported by facts, science, and rationality. Fine. That would make him not only narcissistic, but also delusional. my wife, a committed abortion access voter, said Obama was mentally unbalanced during the primaries and thus couldn't vote for him. I thought he was just another garden variety lefist who got good press coverage. The more he talks the more is I am coming to see the wisdom is her insight.
She thinks he will come unravelled after the midterm elections and is very fearful of the ensuing harm that could result from it.
Normally when a man has a big button that you can push to make him go off message I always suggest you hit that button as often as possible. I'm not so sure with Obama. He might just snap and take the car out of the ditch and over the cliff.

We not only have to clean out congress and the presidency, but many of the marxist state governments. I thought FDR's quote was pretty cool for many years, until I learned that it was actually about the Depression, and not WWII. Given that fact, it sounds like FDR and the One are using the same playbook. I guess we could look forward to Depression 2.0, if the Dems weren't about to get tossed out, followed in a couple of years by The One.

For some reason I think you may be disappointed. I give it a thirty percent probablility, Obama will not return to the White House from his post election vacation to Indonesia. I have no idea if it will be tragic or something like him saying "Nyah nyah, na nyah nyah. I fucked you", as he shows his real birth certificate and resigns and retires in Indonesia and demands his presidential pension be sent to him there.
Given what happened to Secretary of Commerce, Ron Brown, Obama should invite Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to travel along with him on AirForce1 for his vacation. Sun-tzu: "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."
