— Slublog Well, at least he's consistent.
MIAMI (AP) -- President Barack Obama said Thursday he's amused by the anti-tax tea party protests that have been taking place around Tax Day.Hey, nothing says post-partisan unity like mocking average citizens doing nothing more than exercising their right to peaceably assemble in protest of their government's actions. I don't remember our former cowboy warmongering Constitution-shredding president saying anything similar about anti-war protesters, do you?Obama told a fundraiser in Miami that he's cut taxes, contrary to the claims of protesters.
"You would think they'd be saying thank you," he said.
At that, many in the crowd at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts stood and yelled, "Thank you!"
You've got to wonder what the One is thinking here. Is it simple delusion about his power to control the narrative, as Dan Riehl suggests, or is he so consumed by his own press clippings that he honestly doesn't realize the extent of the public's anger? Most likely: he just doesn't care and is completely playing to his base at this point, because there's nothing the nutroots like more than some sweet, sweet tea party hatin'.
Over/under on how low Obama will go in approval ratings before he starts referring to protesters as "teabaggers?" 40%? 35%? Your guess is as good as mine.

This is because the federal government mandates that we use its proprietary paper as "money," combined with the fact that it has no source of income other than taxation, borrowing (against future taxation), and monetizing the debt through inflation, which is at least as wealth-depleting as overt taxation, only more regressive, hidden and insidious. As a result, no matter how the expenditures are funded, all sources of federal funding of those expenditures are a tax.
Therefore, overt taxation is only one small part of our actual tax liability. The only true measure of overall tax liability is the sum total of all federal expenditures, regardless of how they are funded.
And, in case BO hasn't noticed, federal expenditures are going up lately.

Obama cheered the special-election victory of Florida Democratic state Sen. Ted Deutch in Tuesday's special election to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Robert Wexler. It was the first House election since passage of his controversial health care bill and Obama noted that commentators viewed the election as a referendum on that legislation or on Obama himself.
"And it was!" he said.

Well, I have to say I was pretty amazed when I finally finished my taxes today. I'm officially poor, at least according to my taxable income for 2009. I thought I would owe taxes anyway, because I did not have any taxes withheld from my unemployment checks or my small consulting payments, and my husband maxed out his withholding to get more take-home pay. But because my income fell so drastically in 2009, I qualified for a bunch of tax credits that I used to be too rich to get. I got the full $800 Obama tax credit too. So I am actually getting a $1000 refund this year. Call me shocked.
I guess I should thank Dear Leader for all of this largesse, but I won't. Because my income should double this year, and I know my taxes will more than double next year as a result of this wonderful progressive tax system we have which eliminates most tax credits and bumps you into a higher bracket if you are too successful. I don't even want to think about what my marginal tax rate is going to be. Probably well over 50%. I would say it isn't worth it, but I actually don't like being poor more than I don't like coughing up over half of every extra dollar I earn to the government.

Now I think this is all a tactic. The constant bowing, the "waving their little tea bags", the "what do you think a stimulus is?!", the not showing the real birth certificate (just to marginalize the crazies), all of it. This dude is a performance artist of Andy Kaufmann proportions.
So what is this tactic? What is the purpose? He wants to piss off some unstable rubes into doing something stupid so he can permanently malign the GOP?? If anyone has read the Alinksy sheit let me know...

The lefties I know truly believe he has cut taxes, and they will never have to pay anything. Or they figure they may have to pay a little bit more, which is of course the least they can do to help their more unfortunate fellows.
They have absolutely no idea what is coming down the pike. Which means, of course, they also aren't preparing for anything. I kind of enjoy that part of it.

The same goes for Eric Erickson and Moe Lane promoting good conservative candidates in GA-04, TN-09, and similar districts. The candidates are great folks, but have no chance to win those 60% black districts. NONE. And if we did have so much as an outside shot at winning in those districts, it would mean a 300+ seat wave throughout the country, and we wouldn't need them.

Wexler's seat was hardly winnable, it's a solid blue Democratic district. Any attempt by the GOP to steal the seat with a big turnout effort would be easily turned aside with a modest counter-effort, and all the time and money would have been wasted - not to mention that putting forth the effort would have justified Obama's victory claim.
So we're supposed to just throw in the towel on every race so that if Ofuzznuts makes one of his bullshit claims we'll have the satisfaction of knowing it has no basis in reality; is that really what you want to base your argument on? Look, I understand the argument that you have to choose your battles wisely with the party spending money expensing lesbian sex-club antics in this unique type of broaden the base outreach that Steele brings to the table. So what exactly is Steele doing to make the tent larger? Is there any seat that is now in play because of what he's done that wasn't previously? How would spending any money in this race have been money more ill-spent than the money they threw away on Scozzafava?
My point is they're not spending money wisely and I have no confidence that what you're saying was a conscious strategy as much as an oversight. Maybe you're correct but I'll feel a lot better if I start seeing some tangible evidence that somebody in the party knows wtf they're doing.

OK, I remember how The One came up with that screwball logic about how giving money to people who don't pay taxes is "reducing taxes".
But what I don't remember is where that got, as far as actually happening. Any kind soul care to elighten me? Is that the "full $800 Obama tax credit" mentioned in #89?
All I remembered was that the "W" tax cuts are being allowed to expire, which means my taxes will go up. That $1000 tax credit for my dependent will probably go away, too, right? So The One (& his cohorts) are effectively raising my taxes, albeit passively.

Thanks to the new credits and deductions created by the Recovery Act, you might be eligible for these benefits:
Making Work Pay credit: 95 percent of working families are receiving this credit, which means $400 less in taxes for individuals and $800 less for married couples. You have probably already seen the effects of this credit in your paycheck.College expenses: Families and students can claim up to $2,500 to pay for college expenses.First home purchase: If buy your first home by April 30, you can claim an $8,000 deduction.Energy-efficiency incentives: If you made your home more energy efficient through steps like adding insulation or energy-efficient windows, you are probably already saving money on your energy bills. Now, you can also claim a $1,500 tax credit.New vehicle purchases: If you bought a new vehicle between Feb. 17 and Dec. 31, 2009, you can deduct state and local sales taxes from your federal tax return.I will note that the home credit is subject to "recovery": you have to pay it back over the next some-number years. It's like financing your down-payment.

I truly don't understand how a smart guy like Rahm Emmanuel can be the chief of staff of this guy and watch this destruction take place. Well, we live in interesting times.

I don't remember seeing / hearing any politician this brain dead and tone deaf. Obama elevated bd and td to the unprecedented level.
Yesterday with regards to Obama’s ‘humbleness’ interview, I had thought Obama missed his calling as a stand up comedian. This, this is just out right outrageous.

Over/under on how low Obama will go in approval ratings before he starts referring to protesters as "teabaggers?" 40%? 35%? Your guess is as good as mine.
Uh, but it will be done in just so subtle ways, like his middle finger (pretending touching / scratching his nose) to people he doesn't like (Hillary, for example).

I think that a nice, decisive loss for Democrats in November will bring our President around.
He has shown the uncanny ability to throw people, positions, and philosophies under the bus when necessary to advance his cause. Next January, he will have to learn to work with Republicans whether he wants to or not.
Additionally, he will see just how grateful all those two-bit tyrants are for his "resetting the relationship" actions (clue: not at all), as well as see how some his other policies have worked.
My assumption, of course, is that he performs well against a steep learning curve...

I would love to see more billboard showing Obama mug shot and
"Why haven't you THANK ME enough, peasants?"

Baggers go nuts because the President is 'amused' at their ignorance. Of course they had absolutly no problem when President Bush said: "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face. It's just a goddamned piece of paper!". Where was the outrage from the constitution loving baggers then?

And gawd knows we have so much to be thankful for, especially a socialist regime hellbent on deconstructing the fabric of the United States of America:
Contrary to the lie about "cutting taxes", you've actually legislated enormous tax increases in the ObamaCare bill and the Financial Reform Bill.
For using jack-booted tactics to force government-run health care on the American people.
For violating the Constitution. Repeatedly.
For the wholesale economic slaughter of bank bailouts, a huge $800 billion “stimulus” payoff to special interests, and seizure of private industry.
For the Dem autocratic kleptocracy.
For trying to bring this country to its knees economically, politically, and militarily.
For an unemployment rate of 15%.
For adding $2 trillion to the national debt, which brings the current debt to over $12 trillion, and climbing.
For quadrupling the national deficit.
For the burden of debt on future generations.
The total evisceration of the Dollar.
A cabal of Senate and Congressional Democrats who make decisions behind closed doors.
For the assault on freedom of speech and Americans who demand answers from their elected officials.
For stocking your cabinet with Marxist/Socialist/Dhimmi appointees with a history of anti-American/anti-democracy ideology.
For creating a new entitlement culture.
For changing the methods and terminology of fighting Islamic terrorism into a PC fest.
For hiring a tax cheat as Secretary of the Treasury.
For pandering to despots during a world "apology tour".
For insisting that “whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower.”
For "fundamentally transforming" America into economic mush.
For declaring that opponents of illegal aliens, proponents of the Second Amendment, Tea Party patriots, and military veterans are "domestic threats".
For all that and much, much more, thank you for galvanizing decent, hard-working, fed-up Americans who will kick the Dem majority out on their asses, come November.
