Obama In Afghanistan
— DrewM

Speaking now to the troops in Bagram.

Good for him for going and spending some time with the troops as the holidays approach.

Just a reminder....you can do something to help remind the troops they are cared about, remembered and appreciated.

1 Good for him, nothing.  The last thing the troops want is to have him around using them as his latest escape valve.

2 In total, Obama was to spend three hours on the ground in Afghanistan, about half the time he had scheduled.

Only had time for a 9 hole round?

3 ....Mr. Obama slipped out of the White House on Thursday night after presiding over a Hanukkah celebration, and boarded Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base for the flight.

"My dear brothers in Islam, look what I brought you to play with.  Jews!"

4 Haha...as if this is going to save him.

"Hey, are you guys still air-raiding villages and killing civilians?"

5 Damn, this guy is so in love with his own voice.....

Me, on the other hand....I hit the mute.

three hour tour. Good for President Gilligan.

1.On the day that suckass unemployment numbers come out

2 the deficit commission is officially rendered moot

3. Congress still hasn't passed a budget and id fucking around with the tax structure (heaven help anyone trying to run payrolls in January)

4. And the day after the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Sec of DoD announced that they don't give a shit AND don't believe what troops in combat arms think.

Something is very politic. Even President Pokemon doesn't want to be snubbed by a guy who we called corrupt in the bushel of cables that were leaked. Either Karzai answers the phone or not.

10 Obama heard the Marines got the XM25. He went to make sure they don't use them.

If he really said this, he lied straight to their faces (I know, who expects anything different?). Didn't even make it plausible.

12 good of him to stop over in fly over country to test out his teleprompter. he also must like slinging golf balls into minefields.

13 I wonder who forced Obama to go?

Posted by: nraendowment at December 03, 2010 09:47 AM (pk3HD)

14 "I wonder who forced Obama to go?" 15 million unemployed Americans. But hey, if you want to do something REAL for the troops besides voting the lawn jockey out, try Operation Gratitude... http://tinyurl.com/35868e7

15 Had to laugh..

.even without TOTUS (or perhaps I just didn't see it), Obama looks left and right, with his nose in the air,  just as if he is reading his beloved teleprompter.

16 Barry is over there making sure the troops don't violate the enemy combatants' civil rights. Or call them enemy combatants. Or fight them in any way

It makes perfect sense.  He flew over there to make the phone call so it wouldn't be a toll call.

I know there are more important things to get mad about, but when the Chairman sticks his nose and chin up in the air like that, it just ticks me off.  I read somewhere that he was taught to do that. That strikes me as horrendous body language, but what do I know.

You know, that would be great SNL skit.  Therefore SNL won't do it.

23 Glad he went.  Total Bull Shit.  He cares nothing about these troops, except as a photo op.

At $182,000 an hour.  Hope you enjoyed the visit Mr Taxpayer.

Get this dishonest fucker out of here.

24 I, for one, think this is the right thing to do. Genuine or not, our guys need to see that their CinC will show up and at least voice support and appreciation for the difficult job they are doing.

A coworker, who knows of my strong dislike for Obama, tried to bait me with 'how much do you suppose it cost for him to go to Afghanistan?' He was surprised when I expressed that he is the CinC and SHOULD be doing this, and that I have no problem with the money spent for this purpose.

He isn't a lefty - more of a moderate who leans right, I'd say.

People REALLY don't understand conservatives. I guess it's because they have no clarity of principals that they are surprised when they meet someone who does and is consistent about them. They figure that everyone is like them.

I find it really hard to have genuine respect for people like that.

Wonder if he gave them a great big hug like he did to MOH recipient Salvatore Giunta.

I guess Boy Wonder can't be bothered to salute.

First of all, it isn't costing him anything. It's costing this country over $182,000 per hour. This is as bad as Michelle claiming that she was making a sacrifice flying as a VIP to Copenhagen.

So what's next; the sun is now the moon?

What about the fact that he ducked out of the country the day some politically catastrophic shit hit the fan -- namely that the U rate increased to 9.8%.  Might this all be construed as a photo op designed to get attention off of all that; or don't you think it politic to bring it up -- for the troop's sake

That was not a sardonic rhetorical question, BTW  I'm not sure myself.  What are your thoughts?
