— DrewM Ooops.
Obama is giving a speech about the economy and attacking John Boehner but mostly attacking Boehner.
I asked on Twitter what Boehner's name recognition was, since as we all know punching down is a bad idea. Just as I asked that Philip Klein put this out on Twitter.
But according to the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday, House Minority Leader John Boehner, the man trying to replace Pelosi as speaker, doesn't fare particularly well among the minority of Americans who have an opinion of him.Fifty-one percent of people questioned in the poll say they have an unfavorable view of Pelosi, with 33 percent saying they see her in a favorable light, and 16 percent unsure. The California Democrat's unfavorable rating has climbed from 23 percent in 2006 to 43 percent last year and 50 percent at the beginning of 2010.
"Pelosi's unfavorable rating hit 50 percent at the start of this year and has stayed there throughout the spring and summer. That arguably makes her the least popular Democrat in the country," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.
According to the survey, 22 percent of the public has a favorable opinion of Boehner, with 23 percent saying they hold an unfavorable view of the Republican congressman from Ohio.
I'm guessing Obama is going after Boehner by name and not saying "Republicans" because Republicans are doing better than Democrats on most issues.
Obama says Boehner wants to borrow billions to give high earners a tax cut and that keeping the high end tax rate would come with "a 700 billion dollar price tag". He makes it sound like we are borrowing money and writing a check to people. Of course that's nonsense. If you want to save "700 billion dollars", cut the damn spending!
I guess since people actually do miss Bush, he's out as Public Enemy Number 1 and Boehner is in.
Boehner's camp responds.
The new and specific focus on Boehner leaves those in the minority leader's camp a little surprised, but read for the fight. "The fact that President Obama and the White House are so focused on what John Boehner is saying shows just how out-of-touch they really are," says Boehner spokesman Kevin Smith. "Americans are concerned about jobs, spending, and health care, yet this White House is flailing because it has no answers."
Obama says the GOP has never offered up any specific spending cuts. Brad Dayspring, spokesman for House GOP Whip Eric Cantor (who as the DNC likes to point out, is a Jew), is having too much fun pointing out what BS that is.

You mind if I repost this, please?
$12.8 Trillion - that's right - trillion.
Here is something you haven't heard. Why, you might ask, haven't you heard it?
Well because it hasn't been reported. Why, you might ask, hasn't it been reported?
Because it would blow this government from here to kingdom come, if true:
Allegations are that over $12 trillion were disbursed in the bailout. Bloomberg has been suing since Nov. of '08. Supreme Court will decide if the gov't has to disclose.

It has come to this...
Democrats think not raising taxes on someone is a spending increase.
Obama's not talking about a tax cut here but just keeping the same tax rates that we have now.

Breaking: At a speech today in Ohio, President Obama was slightly injured while transferring his cock from one hand-picked attendees mouth to anothers.
Obama remarked after being treated by paramedics, "You'd think after having my dicked sucked by most of the American people, that something like this would never happen."
President Obama is expected to recover in time to be fellated by Robert Gibbs this afternoon.

Borrowing money to give tax cuts isn't a formulation that makes sense. The republicans want to cut both taxes and spending and so greatly curtail the overall borrowing, helping the stability of the country and those not on the gov't payroll.
There's a growing divide between Public and private workers, and if the Dems don't get the finances in order and public salaries in line (or replaced with R's who will) they are doing the public workers no great service.

Nobody is falling for this worn-out, hopey-changey schtick anymore. That had a short shelf life to start. But I hope he keeps it up. Americans hate whiners and he's the Whiner-in-Chief. Allow me to put it in Obama's terms:

OT: Speaking of Boehner(s), San Francisco jail installs condom dispensers http://bit.ly/9esgAU
Looking for a little action?
You might want to try the San Francisco County Jail's San Bruno lockup, where authorities have installed 16 condom machines for the jail's 750 prisoners.
And although sex among inmates technically is illegal, the Sheriff's Department went ahead and installed the 16 machines anyway - one for each jailhouse pod - paid for by a pair of small grants from UCSF and a Southern California nonprofit.
As for the chance that all those machines will actually promote jailhouse sex?
The sex already takes place, says Kate Monico Klein, who is directing the program for the city's Public Health Department. "If (providing condoms) saves one or two lives, it's worth it," she said.

The White House has tapped a former leader of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Wildlife Federation as the Asian carp czar to oversee the federal response to keeping the invasive species out of the Great Lakes. On a conference call today with Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin and other congressional leaders, President Obama's Council on Environmental Quality announced the selection of John Goss to lead the near $80 million, multi-pronged federal attack against Asian carp. "This is a serious challenge, a serious threat," Durbin said. "When it comes to the Asian carp threat, we are not in denial. We are not in a go-slow mode. You wanna know why this is a big deal? He made this trip specifically to call out a politician in that politician's home state. He wants his audience to think that he as President is more in tune and in touch with their interests and needs than the politician from their own state is. Making this gaffe, even though he corrects it quickly, demonstrates to everyone watching that he really isn't all that into them.

It amazes me how anyone now can continue to see anything redeeming in this gasbag.

And this is anyone else's problem....why?
The very definition of a conservative (like myself) is one who cautiously adheres to the status quo.
No, it isn't. If the status quo was a totalatarian regime with sacrifices on Saturday nights, that's not the ideal of the Republican party.
So although I understand that Boehner is a Republican and would therefore share many of my principles, I do not know if it would be prudent to go out on a limb and risk his leadership. The devil you know and all that.

1. Most incumbents/frontrunners refuse to even mention the opponents' name, much less debate; it is a form of advertising.
2. Castle qualifies because he is leading in the polls and the local party here selected him.
3.Supposedly the polling between the two is tight, largely because this is a primary, and O'Donnell is the more ideologically appealing of the two. (She's also hotter. Having met both several times, trust me on this.)
4. I have seen few signs of his, and the number of her signs has dwindled. Vandalism of signs is unfortunately common here, and several times, campaigns have been caught pulling up to a spot where signs can be placed, putting one up for their guy, and blocking or destroying those of their opponent. This is in addition to any casual vandalism that may occur.

Attacking Boehner is the same as attacking Limbaugh or FoxNews was a year ago--pure Alinsky, but misapplied.
Alinsky taught organizers to personalize the enemy, then demonize them.
That may work when you're trying to organize a community against an institution that wants to use urban renewal to knock it down---identify the Mayor or the CEO of the institution, and get your people to see it as personal between "them" and "us." Makes sense, doesn't it?
But, yet again, Alinsky's ideas, developed for organizing neighborhoods in Chicago in the 1930s-40s-50s, are entirely inappropriate when used by the President of the United States for national partisan politics (viz, Valerie Jarrett saying about Fox News that the Administration would "speak truth to power," as if the politicians in the White House are Truth and Shep Smith or Brit Hume or Bill O'Reilly is more Powerful).
My conclusion, reinforced almost every day, is that these people are NOT very smart.
I also suspect Alinsky is spinning in his grave.
