Obama Intends to Reveal His Healthcare Bill
— Dave in Texas

When all you need is something to sign, you can draw it up yourself.

This is akin to something I call in my profession "making it easier to get the 'yes'". If you want the CEO to sign off on an expense, don't send him an email and tell him "we need something". Fill out the forms and the justification and leave a place on it somewhere for his signature.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama is expected to publish his healthcare plan as early as Sunday or Monday, combining features of the two Democratic bills passed by the Senate and House of Representatives, congressional aides and healthcare advocates said on Friday.

How serious are they? In my moron opinion completely serious. They've ignored the majority opinion of the public on it for months, they've ignored their own party conflicts over the morass of the two bills. Why would they simply pick up the ball and go home?

Power grabs don't come cheap. Break a few eggs and all that. Whether they can pull it off remains to be seen, but I don't doubt for a moment that they will try.

Other news of the day, When Harry met Barry. Campaigning with Reid, Obama offers up $1.5 BN of uncommitted TARP funds to convince Nevada voters that he and Harry will save their mortgages.

I have done the arithmetic. I figured out that if I a) lost my job, and b) got a few lawyers to take $3000 bucks to renegotiate the terms of my mortgage, and c) still didn't get a job, I'd d) default on this sucker a little bit later than I was going to anyway.

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.


I doubt slavery by overwhelming government debt is within those bounds.

A.) Whatever was the main argument in the letter against the House Bill.

C.) The "personal story" and the exact ways in which this would prove to be harmful to one of Rep X's constituents?

You wrote me back and told me that you knew that the Bill that you had
helped to pass wasn't perfect but that it was a good start and that you were happy to send it on up to the Senate so that they could make improvements.

I saw what kind of "improvements" the Senate made and as hard as this is to believe I find it even more unacceptable than the version passed in the House. 

Even some the particular issues and provisions that I used to be somewhat agnostic about, I now regard with deep suspicion after seeing the unprecedented arm-twisting and flat out bribery that had to take place to get the votes of a few pretty reliably Democrat Senators.

I mean, how bad does it have to be if it takes the Corn-husker Kickback to sway Nelson for Pete's sake?  What did he and Harry Reid know, that we don't (and by we I mean you too Congress{being}) about how badly this bill will hurt the states?

In short, Representative X, I have not at all been happy with the main gist of either the House or Senate versions of this "reform" and can see serious problems with many of the specifics.

 And I assure you that whatever feculent stew the White House means to concoct of "features" of both bills and the interests and imperatives important to those special interests who are powerful enough lobby the Administration directly will not become suddenly more palatable because it has been newly branded as "The President's Bill".

If you don't believe me, then how helpful to the President do you think that the ideas put out by congress and reviled by the public this past year, referred to in short-hand as "Obamacare", have been?

Don't be fooled into helping to shove this down the throats of your constituents by means of parliamentary trickery. 

We will not thank you later. 

It matters not whether you believe the contents of the bolus to be harmful or helpful to the patient in the long run.

Clearly, people can disagree on this point.  You and I certainly do.

It is the action that you contemplate, the force feeding of citizens "for their own good", as if you were a prison nurse in Edwardian England acting on orders from the "Doctors" of your party.

It is a violence.  A bad faith violation that will cause all of your patients, wards, prisoners, constituents to not only spew out the immediate concoction but to also, be suspicious of any potion you offer, and wish nothing more than not to ever see your face again, no matter if you outsource the force-feedings to a rotating shift of functionaries.

We will always remember you.

273 Truth is the USA cannot afford or support a single payer public HC system. Canada and a host of Euro nations can do it because for one, they do not have the host of chronic health problems the US does and they have smaller populations. The State of California has more people than the entire nation of Canada or Denmark. 

Those nations are not expected to also be the world's policeman for every crisis that erupts in some turd world hellhole. Do you really want China doing that instead?

If the government is having problems coming up with any way to pay for this program, it mean we cannot afford it.

I think that after this is done HC will be like Gun Control as an issue. the Tea Party will but such a stink on it that no politician from any party will not go near it in fear of their own political career.
