— LauraW A snippet of his speech that deserves to be singled out for special scorn.
Obama said that Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America."The first Muslim ambassador to the United States, from Tunisia, was hosted by President Jefferson, who arranged a sunset dinner for his guest because it was Ramadan — making it the first known iftar at the White House, more than 200 years ago."
How very disingenuous. We have here a fact presented not merely out of context, but so deceitfully as to be a laughable fraud.
First of all, the term 'a part of America' needs some thoughtful defining. I think we can mostly agree that the implication is that the mere act of feting the Tunisian envoy during his diplomatic mission to the US is some sort of general inclusion of Islam into the American experience at that early date.
How? Merely through his temporary presence in our country? Even though we were in conflict with his state at the time?
This isn't the first time Obama has spouted this same warped poppycock.
From his Cairo speech in 2009:
“Islam has always been a part of America’s story. The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our second President John Adams wrote, “The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims.”.............................
And when the first Muslim-American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers – Thomas Jefferson – kept in his personal library.”
"Islam has always been a part of AmericaÂ’s story."
Indeed!
That would be the same Treaty of Tripoli that was essentially a protection racket against the United States, requiring that tribute be paid to avoid being the victim of piracy.
That would be the same John Adams who reluctantly figured that bribing the pirates of Barbary was cheaper than military engagement (out of an understanding that the political will and money for creating the necessary naval force was out of reach for the time being).
And that would be the same Thomas Jefferson who, with his great knowledge and understanding of the Koran, reversed our course and decided that military engagement against the various Muslim states engaged in piracy was the only sensible way to proceed.
And then bombarded their coastline, invaded them, and persuaded them to find a new hobby.
This particular piece of history cannot be rewritten to suit current PC needs. The reasons for the envoy's visit cannot be recast into some pap about multicultural understanding.
And this earliest merging of Islam into 'the American story'- where we invade and punish them for their banditry- is not the sort of event someone with half a brain uses as a bragging point about American inclusiveness.
The best that can be said about our regard for Islam at the time is this: The United States' concern was for the economic and physical safety of the United States' interests and people and there was no religious conflict in effect (“The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims.”).
That's it. We don't have a problem with you because of what you believe, but because of what you do.
It's pretty much the same deal now, frankly.

Am I the only one one struck by the fact he labeled the hijackers "nihilists." They were the OPPOSITE of nihilists... in fact they were suicidal ideologues. Distorting the fact they were devout Muslims is one thing, but he's either trying further diminish the role the Religion-of-Peace had in killing 3000 Americans, or this retard literally has no idea what he's saying when he's speaking.
I'll give the benefit of the doubt and go with the latter.

My question is, who is he talking to or more importantly, who is listening? At this point in his Presidency, it seems that battle lines have been drawn. All the stupid people have sided with the Libs and the rest have said "Wait a minute, what's this guys game?"
I don't think people are being persuaded by his speeches anymore.

Here's the problem; it is what they believe that compels them to do what they do. It is not US foreign policy, poverty,or Israel that feeds the terrorist mind; it is the basic teachings of Muslim supremacy in the Quran and the Haditha that is the root. In that respect, their religion teaches that I must be converted, subjugated or else killed.
Laura, I vehemently disagree; they act as they do because of what they believe, and I take severe exception to a religion that teaches its adherents to hate me, my family, and my friends simply because we reject their religion.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."
The most penetrating insight of the problem America faces.

Some poster said yesterday that Islam is not so much a religion as it is (I'm paraphrasing) a complete political/social/religious system. Its ultimate goal is not to serve God, but to destroy all who don't follow its beliefs and savage practices.
Wish I could remember who said it. He (or she) had it nailed.
This is why having madrasa-trained, terrorist-appeasing, likely Muslim Osama Obama in the White House is so dangerous. He does not want to win as much as he wants to wipe all whom he hates from the face of the earth.

And now the Indonesian Imbecile likes to act as if islam was ever some measurable part of the US (he claims even more, but just this minor claim is laughable). He said it in his Cairo speech, too, and he got away with it.
This joke that muslims have always "been part of America" reminds me of Mohammed claiming that his lineage goes back to Ishmael. But, most of the world believes that and everyone entertains the joke by calling islam "an Abrahamic religion", getting two out three wrong in that short phrase.

Sharia Law is at odds with our concepts of law and government enshrined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, as well as Common Law, which in America, has roots going back to Great Britain.
This is frankly not even a Christina versus Muslim thing, so it encompasses everyone that wants to live in a semi-free Republic, with democratic institutions, and an independent judiciary.
A lot of other politicians (such as GWB) have spouted a lot of drivel about Islam, but the last 9 years has been a great educational experience for anyone paying attention. Many more of us are not now so easily fooled by such pap.
Sharia and Islam are ultimately in conflict with what we have believed to be our basic ideas as Americans. I have no problem with Muslims living among us and everyone minding their own business, but their impingement on the political process is not something that I welcome.
We are approaching, to quote Ronald Reagan in a different sense, a Time for Choosing.

Yes, we do need some immigration reform. And all these Mosques need to be reclassified as political centers and Islam needs to be classified as a political activity and not a religion.

Osama Obama sees himself as the Great Leader of his flock, the near-god who need not abide by the rules set for the "little people." His family gets the same pass as well.

Obumble needs to read some history.
The first recognition of the Continental Congress/United States as a legitimate nation by a foreign power occurred on November 16th, 1776. The guns of Fort Orange (Dutch) answered the ritual salute of the American ship ,Andrew Doria, upon entering the harbor at St. Eustatius.
This was paraphrased from Barbara Tuchman's excellent book "The First Salute".

One of the only things that saves Jefferson, by my reckoning, is the Louisianna Purchase. But, true to form, Jefferson had to go back on everything he'd railed about for years in order to do it. Thank G-d he did, though.
In terms of governing philosophy, I always hated Jefferson. He was for States' rights, and took some good positions, but only because he was a staticist who envisioned a stagnant US full of gentleman farmers.

Jefferson spoke heatedly against the ruling but there was very little he could do about it. That was part of the overall conspiracy between Adams and Marshall who engineered the case from beginning to end.
Marshall ruled that the the Judiciary Act (in part) was unconstitutional therefore the Supreme Court did not have jurisdiction to review a writ of mandamus. They also snuck in the theory that the Supreme Court has the sole power of judicial review. This was what Adams and Marshall were after the entire time. A ruling that gave a branch of the federal government the authority to decide what the power of the federal government was.
Since this ruling required no action by congress or the president there was little that Jefferson could do other than publicly state that he disagreed with that ruling.
Also recall that Jefferson was the author of the Kentucky and Virginia resolutions which advanced the theory of State Nullification.

So America began in 1796 or, to be gracious, close enough to 1776 to be "the beginning"? You stupid and disingenuous fuck. America didn't begin during the American Revolution. America, as defined by colonial Europeans, had been around for well over a century and a half, it evolving and developing into the political construct that eventually united. In fact America was forming even before that, however loosely, and as a consequence of conquest. Guess what? They weren't Muslim.
This idiot is illustrating either intent to recreate a new history for the books or a window into his education which clearly exposes an ignorance of the American perspective. Obama does not have American roots. Technically, maybe, but in every other capacity, no.

women, homos, brown ones, yellow ones, white ones, tards, hinudus, and
even a few canadians.
To the best of my knowledge, neither have we any hobos, so there's that. too.

I have an atheist friend who's convinced Obama is a closet atheist because he never attends a religious service without giving a shout-out to people of "no religion" (I think he did it at least twice in this speech).
I don't know if he's a Black Liberation Theology adherent, a Muslim, an atheist, or someone who picks beliefs as they suit his ambitions.
I think he has a deep animosity against Judeo-Christian heritage as part of his plan to fundamentally transform the country. Anything traditional, any belief strongly held, is a threat to his plans, it's bitter and clingy. The founders, the Constitution, faith, all must give way to Obama's vision.

Mohammed brought down from heaven and put into the Koran not religious doctrines only, but political maxims, criminal and civil laws, and scientific theories. The Gospels, on the other hand, deal only with the general relations between man and God and between man and man. Beyond that, they teach nothing and do not oblige people to believe anything. That alone, among a thousand reasons, is enough to show that Islam will not be able to hold its power long in ages of enlightenment and democracy, while Christianity is destined to reign in such ages, as in all others.

In Muslim-ruled Malaysia, where the jakoff spends a great deal of his time, it was published as "A Call To Prayer From the World Trade Center Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America Post-9/11".

Legitimate Questions for the President
by Sarah Palin on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 5:34pm
Mr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive "cross-cultural engagement" and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven't they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren't you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson's generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven't they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as "hallowed ground"? I believe these are legitimatequestions to ask.

All there was, in the beginning, was the Nation of Islam, and most muslims in the world didn't consider them real muslims. Then our immigration policy really started bringing them in, in the 90's. Before that, almost all of the arabs who emigrated to the US were Christians who were being chased out by the muslims.
When I was going for my BA. (Carter Years) we had dozens of Iranian foreign exchange students. If you smoked pot in the dorms you had to towel the door, spray Ozium, etc.The college police had hard-on to bust you. Your fate depended upon your Resident Advisor.
The Iranians OTOH smoked dope openly on college property -- right on campus street corners-- where the campus cops ignored them..They were usually discreet enough to do it after dark. They smoked out of enormous, garish pipes while wearing a fez. Balloon pants - check, turbans - check, curly toed shoes - check, big handlebar mustaches - check.
It was like watching an Abbot and Costello act, in color, live.
When one Iranian student died in a car crash the college sent messengers to each class in session with Iranian students to inform of the death of their fellow Iranian. The result was a bunch of Iranians running out of classes at top speed. It turned out he was a major cocaine dealer.
Everything was hunky-dory until the Iranian revolution. The next semester none of the Iranians students were there.
I wonder where their bones are now.

What kind of religion would find it to be okay to sell their daughters into prostitution? Is it in any way sane that Iran should "hire" temporary brides (making prostitutes out of children - by paying off their fathers to sell them, or even threatening fathers to sell their children
, and then accuse other nations of being decadent? And what kind of people would defend such a religion?

Why there?
cnn aug 5 2010 :Yesterday New York City's landmarks commission voted unanimously to deny historic status to the Park Place site, clearing the way for construction of Cordoba House, also known as Park51.
The name Cordoba House
christoper hitchens, Slate monday aug 09, 2010.
don't like anything much about the Cordoba Initiative or the people who run it. The supposed imam of the place, Feisal Abdul Rauf, is on record as saying various shady and creepy things about the original atrocity. Shortly after 9/11, he told 60 Minutes, "I wouldn't say that the United States deserved what happened, but the United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened." He added, "In the most direct sense, Osama Bin Laden is made in the USA." More recently, he has declined to identify the racist and totalitarian Hamas party as being guilty of the much less severe designation of terrorist. We are all familiar by now with the peddlers of such distortions and euphemisms and evasions, many of them repeated by half-baked secular and Christian spokesmen. A widespread cultural cringe impels many people to the half-belief that it's better to accommodate "moderates" like Rauf as a means of diluting the challenge of the real thing. So for the sake of peace and quiet, why not have Comedy Central censor itself or the entire U.S. press refuse to show the Danish cartoons?

The guys at Powerline had some rather incisive observations about Obozo's apparent belief that every religion can be boiled down to the Golden Rule. The point is that this is an imbecile's view of religion, especially as it applies to islam. (In islam, the rule is more like, "Do unto others exactly as I do, or I'll kill you.) If you haven't seen it, here's the link. http://tinyurl.com/26cglje

I don't know what Spencer said, but the Golden Rule is for individualistic religions/ideologies only. You couldn't have the Golden Rule in islam, since shame - the main control mechanism for islam - isn't based on an individual's actions, but public knowledge of an individual's actions. Nothing in islam addresses the sanctity of the individual. In fact, islam works hard to destroy any hint of individualism, which is the point of making muslims kiss the ground 5 times a day. It is constantly pounded into muslims how totally worthless and insignificant they are as individuals. The Golden Rule could NEVER part of that sort of system.
Of course, muzzies could steal the name, "Golden Rule", totally pervert its meaning, and then claim that the Jews and Christians (the Jewish Golden Rule of Hillel is the contra-positive of Jesus') lied about it in their canonical texts, in order to deceive the world ... just as Mohammed did with the story of the sacrifice of Isaac (revealed to really have been Ishmael by Mohammed) or the crucifixion of Jesus (determined to have been someone else, as per Mohammed's idea of truth). Muzzies love doing that. Steal shit. Screw it up. Accuse the creators of having lied about it. The Precedent loves this tack, too. What a surprise.

I need to add at the end,
"or public knowledge of someone else's actions towards the individual or his group, as shame cannot exist without someone ELSE knowing what happened, unlike guilt which is a totally private mechanism that requires no ones knowledge but the individual, himself."

Thankfully, I live in a somewhat rural area so my trips into the big city are few and far between but sometimes I wish there was the equivalent of a Confederate flag that I could hang off my truck just to piss off Muslims.

Obama took a more hardline position than the PLO in opposing even 'natural growth' in Jerusalem, putting him in the HAMAS (Muslim Brotherhood) camp. The PLO couldn't be more reasonable than the US president, so now no negotiations are possible.
Obama just gave the mega-monstrosity mosque a shot in the arm when the Muslim Brotherhood shill was feeling the pressure to move it, and was reported to be considering a new location.
Everything Obama has done throughout his presidency has favored the extreme Islamist, jihadi, global-sharia-pushing, caliphate-seeking MB types of Muslims. Thus further marginalizing the secular moderates. You know, the vast majority beleagured minority of Muslims.

As for Obama doing a Stalinesque rewrite of history concerning the Barbary Wars, I actually typed a sarcastic post maybe a week ago when the topic of "great Muslim gifts to America" came up. I mentioned building up the US Navy and the butt plug bomb.
Obama only stole one of those, in his own unique style of ahistorial and deeply Orwellian agitprop.

They're not going to hit NYC, not with their new mosque going up. Muslims are just being dickbags about it. An act of terrorism doesn't have to be violent to be effective.

A foursome of ladies tees off from the reds. The third one slices deep towards a foursome of guys on an adjoining fairway.
Before the lady can yell, "Fore!" the guy doubles over and rolls all over the ground clutching his hands to his crotch, writhing in pain.
The lady runs over and begins to massage his cock. "I'm so sorry," she says. "I'm a massage therapist and I promise I'll take care of you."
Through his pain, the golfer replies, "That feels great lady but my thumb still hurts like hell!"

When we speak of Ground Zero as hallowed ground, what we mean is that it belongs to those who suffered and died there -- and that such ownership obliges us, the living, to preserve the dignity and memory of the place, never allowing it to be forgotten, trivialized or misappropriated.
That's why Disney's early '90s proposal to build an American history theme park near Manassas Battlefield was defeated by a broad coalition fearing vulgarization of the Civil War (and wiser than me; at the time I obtusely saw little harm in the venture).
It's why the commercial viewing tower built right on the border of Gettysburg was taken down by the Park Service. It's why while no one objects to Japanese cultural centers, the idea of putting one up at Pearl Harbor would be offensive.
And why Pope John Paul II ordered the Carmelite nuns to leave the convent they had established at Auschwitz. He was in no way devaluing their heartfelt mission to pray for the souls of the dead. He was teaching them a lesson in respect: This is not your place, it belongs to others.

I just arrived home from a concert by the Air Force Band, it was terrific! Of course they do a medley of all the songs of the various branches of the military. It gave me a reason to tell my youngest what the words of the Marine song really mean ("from the halls of Montezume to the SHORES OF TRIPOLI!!!")
She's in high school, and never knew that the Marines were formed during Jefferson's presidency, specifically to pound the Barbary pirates back to the stone age from whence they came.

"Some poster said yesterday that Islam is not so much a religion as it is (I'm paraphrasing) a complete political/social/religious system. Its ultimate goal is not to serve God, but to destroy all who don't follow its beliefs and savage practices."
==================================
In case you haven't seen this, it's a very interesting post about Islam. The author says that viewing Islam as a meme-plex helps in understanding why it's been so VERY successful at spreading its core beliefs faithfully and widely (even though the belief system is not necessarily beneficial for the individual humans who "host" the meme):
http://tinyurl.com/pp52nt
As far as "serving God", I suppose it depends on which god you're talking about. According to Islamic understanding, the Quran is the absolutely LITERAL word of God; as such it is perfect, unchangeable, and eternal. Yet when Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, announced some teachings that directly contradicted EARLIER revelations, Mohamm--sorry, I meant "Allah"-- announced that "sometimes I think of a better thing", so that when he contradicts earlier teachings, he's giving the new, improved Eternal Verity. Not that the earlier version is wrong, mind you. It just depends on the circumstances whether to claim "There is no compulsion in religion", or whether "Slay the Infidel wherever you find him" is the proper choice. We know that Allah approved of Mohammed --he praised the prophet as "The Perfect Man, Worthy of Emulation"-- yet this prophet surrounded himself with thugs who were happy to kill anyone who mocked their Leader, or who refused to accept the new religion. This prophet found excuses for raiding caravans -- even from his own tribe. This same prophet once announced that some junior goddesses were worthy of being worshipped along with the One True God; but later was forced to recant that revelation with the excuse that Satan had tricked him (=those famous "Satanic Verses"). How many prophets from other religions do you know of who inadvertently channel Satan???? Hmmmm?
Although Muslims claim they are descended from Abraham and thus "we all worship the same God", I STRONGLY suspect that the deity who approves of murder & terrorism to "make Islam victorious" (and who promises his jihadis eternal paradise in the Big Bordello in the Sky) is a totally different God from the one Jews and Christians worship.

You are giving too much credit to Thomas Jefferson. In fact, his administration negotiated a settlement to end the First Barbary War by the terms of which we returned the city of Derne, taken from the landward side by William Eaton, eight (yes, eight) Marines, and a few hundred mercenaries, returned all prisoners held by the U.S., and paid $60,000 ransom for the return of prisoners held by Tripoli. Jefferson justified the payment by pointing out that it was "ransom", not "tribute". The agreement did specify that no future annual "tribute" would be paid to Tripoli.
To his dying day Eaton felt betrayed by Jefferson, who had left Eaton sitting in Derne waiting for supplies and building up local support for an attack on Tripoli while negotiating the settlement behind Eaton's back.
The U.S. continued to pay "tribute" to the other Barbary states and periodically "ransom" prisoners from all, including Tripoli, until 1815.
Jefferson's attack on Tripoli seems to have been precipitated by a demand for an additional $225,000 in tribute after his inauguration ... probably at one of those iftars that that we now know were so popular with the early presidents.

But reality dictates that Obama's religions, like so much about him, is constantly in flux. Wright's church served its purpose, which was contacts in the Chicago black political community. Some political scout saw Obama as the liberals best chance to win a presidential election and implement real change. Its not hard to see and most of us who read this sight knew all of this before the election. It was the 52% that were fooled.

The thing is, it's hard for Americans to swallow the concept of the US being in Holy War. This is because it is quite literally against our Constitution to instigate such a thing. The problem is, that a religion faction has declared a war against us. To defend ourselves, we must fight a religious faction. In other words, we must engage in a holy war.
The reason it makes so little sense is that it doesn't seem to make sense for a religious sect to attack a country which is officially neutral, religiously. Insane or not, it's not something within our control.
So we're in this holy war - something we're extremely uncomfortable with - despite having a real "thing" about not having holy wars.
