— Ace Hey, let's be non-partisan, and just agree, you guys suck and are being too partisan.
"I'm just sayin'."
It's funny how our Post-Partisan President only gets around to addressing Republicans when he needs their votes. Funny how he didn't do that for a year.
The anger here is pretty palpable.
One point he makes is just stupid: He claims Republicans' rhetoric has denied them the tactical room to maneuver or compromise on this issue, because their brain-dead, bitter-clinger supporters are so stupid as to believe these horror stories and so of course will not permit them to compromise.
First of all: The GOP was, we all kinda know, ready to roll over and compromise, or at least enough of our Reps and Senators were to give Obama his win. It was only agitation from the grassroots that put some steel in their spine. And not, how Mr. Top-Down Command-and-Control You-Little-People-Listen-To-Your-Leaders would have it, the other way around, wherein our "leaders" told us what to think and what to say.
Second of all: The complaint he makes actually applies ten times as much to himself. It is this asshole who's telling everyone WE'RE ALL GOING TO FUCKING DIE, this asshole telling tales of foot-hungry amputating jigsaw surgeons, this asshole who sold his nutroots on the notion that the public option was the only path to single payer, and single payer is the only path to equality and wonderfulness.
And it is this asshole -- President "I Won" -- who has staked his young and now failed presidency on nothing but winning and steamrolling the opposition and ignoring critics and demonizing dissenting voices, all to "win" on this issue, to prove he could win, and so to prove that he was El Supremo Jefe and we all had to buckle under his benevolent dictatorship.
It is this asshole who has denied himself the wiggle room to compromise, and so it is this asshole who is now attempting to persuade us to compromise, because he can't.

Obama, a former law school professor, launched into lectures of his own at times. He warned lawmakers from both parties against demonizing a political opponent, because voters might find it incomprehensible if the two sides ever agree on anything.
"We've got to be careful about what we say about each other sometimes, because it boxes us in in ways that makes it difficult for us to work together because our constituents start believing us
BALTIMORE (AP)
In his opening remarks, Obama criticized what he said was a Washington culture driven by opinion polls and nonstop political campaigns.
"I don't believe that the American people want us to focus on our job security, they want us to focus on their job security," he said.
The president acknowledged that Republicans have joined Democrats in some efforts, such as sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan. But he said he was disappointed and perplexed by virtually unanimous GOP opposition to other programs, such as the economic stimulus bill.
Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said of the event, "In some places I kind of felt like I was in my high school assembly being lectured by my principal. In others, I felt like he was listening."

Meh. Obama NEEDED this invitation. That's why he consented to the cameras. He's going to get a little bounce from the appearance. My guess is the White House will use the footage more than any other footage he's accumulated in the last year.
The clips will make the President look good. The entire video makes him look silly. He routinely takes a question asked of him and rephrases it the way he wants to answer it. You know, a mother fucking Strawman argument? Those used to get you banned from Democratic Underground.

There is one way that the Republican can screw the pooch -- by starting to go along with the Democrats mission to bankrupt us by "compromising". If you think the tea partiers were pissed off over the summer, it would be nothing compared to what would happen if the Republicans start buying into this sh*t.

To those on the right who are now saying the GOP should have not allowed cameras on the Q&A I want to make one point. Obama's greatest hit from '08 won him the election and are now the things that are killing him today. Everytime he opens his mouth in front of a camera unplugged from his script or telepromter he creates more ammunition to kill him with in the future.
He spent the entire time DEFENDING his policy proposals. The same proposals that are polling in the 30's. He didn't provide any new reasons why they are good ideas. He is most certainly not communicating in new ways to the electorate. Its the same old talking point nonsense.
He shot himself in the foot in '09 with what he said in '08. So we have nothing to fear with him looking good to the MSM on TV now. His actions have overshadowed his words and he IS NOT changing his actions.
Let him keep saying one thing and doing another.

This is completely off-topic, but knowing how the morons feel about bacon I just had to share:
Some people take their diplomas from Kendall College and go on to work in restaurants. Ginna Haravon decided to make caramel corn. Really good caramel corn. Her business, Salted Caramel, only makes one thing: Bacon Bourbon Caramel Corn.
Here's the linky to abc7 chicago's front page, I can never get these links to work, the story is up right now.

The resolution was enacted Friday by a voice vote at the party's winter meeting in Hawaii.
It is an alternative to a more stringent proposal that would have required GOP candidates to support 10 specific policy positions if they wanted party help
Posted by: willow at January 29, 2010 02:25 PM (5Bf/7)
That proposal was sponsored by Indiana RNC member James Bopp. It was strongly opposed by party Chairman Michael Steele and a group of state party chairpersons.
The alternative does not contain a litmus test and grants party officials more flexibility in vetting GOP candidates seeking party support.

That really is the core difference between us and them. Ever-expanding statism is a dogma to them. To us government is a necessary evil that should be limited. Our side goes off the track when we decide that we can practice overt governance better than they can.

I would prefer that we have a president that keeps his petulant irritation more than a millimeter beneath the surface.
VHD says something similar to what I said a few days ago: His words are antimatter. They are a better indicator of the opposite than they are of an affirmative.
That turns out to be a good thing as far as closing Gitmo, or trials in New York. But I think we need to take congress in 2010 so we can have independent counsels, e.g. investigations for things like Acorn that we won't get any other way.

Obama, a former law school professor, instructor, launched into lectures of his own at times. He warned lawmakers from both parties against demonizing a political opponent, because voters might find it incomprehensible if the two sides ever agree on anything.
There. That is accurate. A professor is far different than an instructor, he tought off a sylibus he had no dapth of understanding about. That was clear, given he taught Con Law and knows so little about it he had the gall to lecture the SC on case law that he was not familiar enough with to get right.

People are celebrating the fact that the Obama Administration is considering relocating the terrorists’ trial from New York to another American city. Yet there’s still no talk of moving the trial out of our U.S. civilian courts to where it should take place – a military tribunal.
Now the administration is backtracking in order to fix its initially blundered decision to try these dangerous terrorists in New York City despite the great danger and cost to New Yorkers. This scenario is all too common in Washington. The tactic is to propose something so outrageous that the public will rise up and demand common sense, and then the White House “concedes” and changes its initial decision to give the impression of newfound reasonability and moderation. But the problem still isn’t solved! The trial location debate becomes a diversion so that we’ll take our eyes off the ball. The point missed is that our President still wants to give these terrorists U.S. constitutional protections in our civilian courts, allowing them to lawyer-up on our dime.
This tactic is in the same vein as another Washington game: creating the appearance of a “crisis” in order to push for a radical solution. (“The health care crisis must be fixed by government now or we’re all gonna die! The earth’s temperature is fluctuating; government must fix this crisis now or we’re all gonna die! Private businesses made poor decisions and bureaucrats claim they’re too big to fail, so government must fix this crisis now or we’re all gonna die!”) Politicians and lobbyists announce that there is a “crisis,” and never letting a good crisis go to waste, they propose a radical solution to fix it. The public listens intently, and in a sincere desire to help, an alternative to the politicians’ radical solution gets put forward. The politicians then “concede” and mellow out their radical solution. The public’s attention has been diverted to tinkering on the periphery, all the while ignoring the real problem at the heart of the “crisis” that started the whole debate.
The fact is our government has a choice as to where to try the terrorists. We don’t have to try them in our civilian courts. The peripheral debate regarding in which city to try these evil, dangerous haters-of-America is a diversion. Let’s get back to the heart of the matter: what choice will our government make – terrorist trials in civilian courts or military tribunals?

Apologies if this is a rerun, but this is the crux:
He whines to the Repubs about "Largest drop in unemployment in November '08. You're certainly not going to blame that on me are you? Second largest drop in December '08. You guys aren't going to hang that on me are you? 3rd largest in Jan '09. My policies hadn't even gone into effect yet. C'mon guys."
Obama, you f_cking low-functioning moronic giblet head. Hiring, like any investment, is a forward looking investment based on the confidence of the employer. Now, Obama, you drooling fish-brain, what happened in November '08 that may have shaken the confidence of inverstors and employers. I'll give you a hint.
No, I'll just tell you because you are stupid. You happened.
And BTW, Obama you shrub, the jobless numbers are dropping because there's no one left after you got done with this economy. What a toolbox.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review.
In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch's request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws.

The Senate has voted on three pieces of legislation today that required 60 votes–to raise the debt ceiling to $14.3 trillion, to reduce the deficit by establishing five-year discretionary spending caps, and Ben Bernanke’s confirmation–all of which interim Senator Paul Kirk (D-MA) has voted on. In addition, there have been other Senate votes since Scott Brown was elected as Massachusetts senator that Kirk cast a vote.

Just saw a sound bite on Shep's program. The won says, and I'm paraphrasing, we can't start out by figuring A, who's to blame; B, how can we make the American people afraid of the other side. This line is almost verbatim from The American President, a movie with Michael Douglas playing the president.

Great catch!
President Andrew Shepherd: "I've known Bob Rumson for years, and I've been operating under the assumption that the reason Bob devotes so much time and energy to shouting at the rain was that he simply didn't get it. Well, I was wrong. Bob's problem isn't that he doesn't get it. Bob's problem is that he can't sell it! We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections. You gather a group of middle-aged, middle-class, middle-income voters who remember with longing an easier time, and you talk to them about family and American values and character."
So Aaron Sorkin IS the puppetmaster operating the TOTUS.

Just because I want to smash the helmet-head face of Miss'80sbaby's consort, Lord Hades, with my newly acquired Cestus, doesn't mean that I'm trying to woo her. I'm doing it primarily because Hades is a jerk, and his underworld is a bitch to navigate, with the spiked roller pathways, Harpies and all.
With that being said, Paul Ryan seems like teh awesome and I would totally defend him if Lord Hades does get mad over losing another mate (his last mate Persephone was hit with the Gauntlet of Zeus, killing her in a massive explosion), I would definitely not let Hades steal his soul.

Obama surrendered his license rather than face review. The contention was that Obama provided false information on his 1991 application.
Obama NEVER tells the truth. He has much to hide.
Holy crap! What's your source? How come no one knows about that? (rhetorical question). If he'd been a Republican, that would have totally been an issue before the election. And what's the story with Michelle? Geez, unbelievable. (Yet not!)
I'm glad the Republicans invited him to this confab. It shows that they are willing to listen to him (something they should be receiving combat pay for) especially after already listening to him lie on Wed. It revealed a nasty, ugly side of Teh Won. He essentially is a lying, partisan, thin skinned, projecting, Chicago Thug, whiny crybaby. Other than his koolaid drinking base, I don't think that other Americans are going to see that as very attractive let alone presidential. I don't recall him inviting them any where or making any effort to "reach across the aisle." Like Rush, I hope he fails, cause every time he does, America lives to fight one more day.

(mid?)March. It's the last of the series, so it's probably going to be the last of Kratos, except in maybe some spin-offs in the style of Soul Calibur - Broken Destiny.Its been what 2 years?
Yeah, I think. The last game, Chains of Olympus, came in 2008.

After the vitriol and demonization that was shoveled and spewed 24/7 for 8 years from the Left at the the G.W. Bush administration during a War, that Obama and the people who foisted him on America have a lot of guilty admissions to make before America can get back to a healthy political environment that the Left poison for 8 years solid starting with Al Gore's endless recounts and the claim that G.W. Bush stole the 2000 election.
I say, "No Compromise with Radical Communists!", "Turnabout is FAIR PLAY!"
I won't hold my breath waiting for their admission of guilt or a promise that they won't do it again.
They broke it.
They are going to pay for it.

I think Obama's mad because the SOTUS (sic) ruling in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The only thing that The Precedent wants to hear from SCOTUS is Reparations and Redistribution. O'wise, they need to shut up and grab a post-partisan mop!!!
Barry desparately needs one Republican to cross over and vote for Healthcare Reform so that he can declare it "bipartisan" (and so that the media can swoon over his powers of persuasion and wet themselves over how he reached out across the aisle). Otherwise, it could be Armageddon. From Hotair (and this is Orrin Hatch who has done considerable reaching in the past!):
"Hatch said Thursday that using reconciliation would be “one of the worst grabs for power in the history of the country” that would permanently impact relations between the two parties.
“It is going to be outright war and it should be, because it would be such an abuse of the reconciliation rules,” Hatch said. “If they abuse those rules it is going to lead to even more heated animosities between not just the two parties, but even between individual senators.”
When Republicans controlled the House unemployment stood at at 4.6%.
8.1 Million jobs have been lost since nancy pelosi became Speaker.
Save the bullshit about how we always count based on the presidental inauguration date etc. The MSM will frame the debate to their advantage regardless of the details; the reality is that Democrat governance is killing this economy.
Bwhahaha! This is soo funny. From the Richmond Times Dispatch:
"Stupid American people have strange mad love for Constitution. Crazy right-wing Tea-Party people always making big fat deal out of it. Want to know where it say Congress can make people buy insurance. Freaky house speaker think that Constitution business nonsense. "Are you serious?" she want to know. Crazy right-wing Tea-Party people dead serious. Say government that can make you buy insurance can make you do anything, anything at all. Some even ask what crazy right-wing president and Congress with that kind of power might do. Me not like to think about that!
Whole issue make brain hurt. Good thing man with nice voice in charge. Him have right ideas. Just need to try new angle, that all. Talk slower. Talk louder. Use small words. Treat American people like kid who got held back in elementary school. That bound to work eventually."
Unlike Chris Buckley, this is satire. Here's a link to the whole thing:
Interesting admonishment about "not demonizing our enemies"....
Go back and look at his address at the Notre Dame Commencement Ceremony and you'll hear him give the full version of this lecture. At the time much of the Notre Dame Alumni were livid that Mr. "Federal funding for abortions everywhere" was even invited to give the commencement address. He pulled off the Mr Wonderful act by lecturing about "not demonizing our enemies but meeting on the common ground where we agree". He got a standing ovation from the crowd just before getting back on Air Force One and fucking the whole crowd in attendance that day by insisting on federal funding for abortions in the Health Care Bill......
A guy was traveling through Mexico on vacation when, low and behold,he lost his wallet and all identification. Cutting his trip short,he attempted to make his way home, but was stopped by a Mexican Customs Agent at the Tijuana border."May I see your identification, por favor, señor?" asked the agent."I'm sorry, but I lost my wallet," replied the guy."Si, amigo, I hear that every day. No ID, no crossing the border,"said the agent."But I can prove that I'm an American!" he exclaimed. "I have a picture of Bill Clinton tattooed on one butt cheek and a picture of Hillary Clinton tattooed on the other.""This I must see," replied the agent. With that, the American dropped his pants and bent over in front of the agent."Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, you're right!" exclaimed the agent. "Have a safe trip back to Chicago, Senor.""Thanks!" he said. "But why do you think I'm from Chicago ?"The agent replied, "I recognized Barack Obama in the middle!
Rewrite,
Well if Republicans don't contest this, shame on us.
Keep it up GOP! You are simply confirming our concerns that career politics is NOT the right foundation ... it gets to your head and becomes more about continuing to secure your seat of power instead of what is in the best interest of your state constituency first and the country second ... as for you? YOU ARE THERE TO SERVE; something the lot of you have forgotten!
I am coming around to the "nuke all incumbents" point of view. As they say, these people apparently could not figure out how to pour piss out of a boot, if the instructions were written on the sole!
Based on Massachusetts law, Senate precedent, and the U.S. Constitution, Republican attorneys said Kirk will no longer be a senator after election day, period. Brown meets the age, citizenship, and residency requirements in the Constitution to qualify for the Senate. "Qualification" does not require state "certification," the lawyers said.
The Republican leadership is absent in all this. Why? This is a flagrant violation of Senate rules, yet they say nothing. Meanwhile Kirk votes on legislation that has wide ranging impact on the American taxpayers.
Obama's opposition were motivated by grass roots agitators, this is why he has his mangina all in a knot. Grass Roots Agitation us supposed to be his arena and he got schooled.
So he decides to then end NASA's moon program in a tantrum and divert them to global warming bullshit. Although the program was already way behind schedule and over budget, because NASA is another government agency, with the same problems of waste and incompetence.
Pres Obama is going full force trying to shove his radical agenda full force because he knows he has only one year of a Democratic congress and is going to be a one termer.
One thing I think politicians don't realize is that people are moving at a different speed than they used to. Line item veto? Do you think you can amend the constitution, pass a law, get the law through the federal judiciary, and have the effects felt before spring/summer 2012? Cause that's how much time Conservatives will have after Nov 2010, if they take the House.
We will spend less next year than last year, and we will not spend ONE PENNY MORE more until we are in surplus.
That's the problem with Republicans - they don't have the determination to press the advantage when they know they have it.
And then there are the damned RINOs to have to deal with...
Posted by: Blacque Jacques Shellacque at January 29, 2010 11:03 PM (8PFPH)
Every speech he has made, he has taken pot shots at the Republicans and their President, blaming the "past 8 years" for every problem we have. He has lectured them that he doesn't mind cleaning up their mess, but he doesn't want to hear them complain about how he is accomplishing the mopping. They have been shut out of negotiations. The only plans presented for health care (or anything else) were hard core liberal all the way - tort reform and portability across state lines did not even get lip service.The promise to C-span televise the negotiations was broken unilaterally when he decided transparency wasn't so important after all.
And now, when he has all but lost, he has the chutzpah to come across the aisle and hector the Republicans for their obstructionism and to complain they weren't playing fair with his toys? And next he will go on TV and tell the media megaphone that he has reached out in a spirit of bi-partisanship, but that the other side remains partisan obstructionists to his vision of a brighter America.
I'm not sure, but my perception is that people generally, not just Republicans, are getting a little tired of hearing that everything is someone else's fault. He is the POTUS, I wouldn't expect him to grovel, but a tiny bit less arrogance, or a sense of just a bit of common humilty might just serve him better here.
