Obama To Ill 9/11 Rescue And Clean Up Workers: Screw You
— DrewM

Well, Obama may well have found a way to unite Democrats and Republicans after all.

The Obama administration stunned New York's delegation Thursday, dropping the bombshell news that it does not support funding the 9/11 health bill.

The state's two senators and 14 House members met with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius just hours before President Obama implored in his speech to the nation for Congress to come together and deliver a government that delivers on its promises to the American people.

So the legislators were floored to learn the Democratic administration does not want to deliver for the tens of thousands of people who sacrificed after 9/11, and the untold numbers now getting sick.

"I was stunned — and very disappointed," said Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who like most of the other legislators had expected more of a discussion on how to more forward.

..."She made it clear that the administration does not support any kind of funding mechanism that goes into the bill," said Bronx Rep. Eliot Engel. "I think it's fiscal restraintÂ… but you know what? They find money for everything else, they need to find money for this," Engel said.

And how much do these greedy bastards want anyway? 11 Billion dollars! Not all at once mind you but spread out over the next 30 years. $366 million, give or take, a year.

For the people who tried to rescue survivors of the attack and then cleaned out the site Obama says...no. Money to defend terrorists in court? Sure, he's all for that.

This reminds me of the idea the jackass floated about charging the private insurance companies of veterans for service related injuries. Eventually that was dropped, just as this will be funded, but it's pretty clear who Obama stands with and who he doesn't.

Added (as my anger builds) You know what? I bet we've already spent more than one year's worth of this money on Haiti (probably more than the whole 11 billion) so here's my idea...no more money for Haiti until we take care of our people.

Now, I think we can and should do both but if it's a choice, I say help Americans. What does Barack Obama say?

5 (Heh!  I'm first! I'm first!)  Say what you want about Obama, but he really is doubling down on stupid.  I don't understand why he would make such a boneheaded decision.  I think because in his mind, 9/11 isn't a really big deal, just some collateral damage that happened when George Bush was president, therefore not his responsibility.  I don't understand (other than his hatred of all things Bush) why on earth he would do this.  What do you all think?

Obama will always say help the terrorists first..they are the only ones he can relate to..after all, what was the real objective of the 9/11 terrorists?  The killing of innocents and the chosen places of destruction were only symbolic.  They want to destroy the American economy and along with it the American people.  They couldn't have a better friend than Obama.

Hell fucking yes! If we want to rebuild some fucked up buildings and infrastructure, why don't we start with Detroit, or East St. Louis? (future home of Aceapalooza)

Obama's been using this Haiti disaster to try and beef up his leadership cred, but I honestly think that those blue-collar independents who put him over the top in places like IN and OH are looking at it and thinking the exact same thing you are.

there are no U.S. engineering companies or manufacturers with experience in high-speed rail . . . much of the technology will have to be purchased abroad. . . . high-speed rail experts say that if the administration spreads the $8 billion among more than a handful of projects, none of the projects will get enough money to get up and running.

There might be a good reason to say no. If memory serves me correctly, I think this bill has been around (in some form or another) for a couple of years and hasn't gone anywhere. In it's earlier forms it funded a lot of things that barely had anything to do with 9/11 and (did at one time) have a lot of political pay-backs in it.

Does anyone have a link to this bill?

93 What a bunch of assholes.

Those first responders expect the goddamned world to be handed to them on a silver platter just because they foolishly got messed up in that 9/11 business when no one asked them to.

96 Re: #84

And just to play devil's advocate, let's not get caught up in a post hoc ergo propter hoc frenzy over 9/11 rescue/clean-up workers.  People get sick and people die; just because it happened after 9/11 doesn't necessarily mean it's related to 9/11 in any way.

Like in Erin Brocovich where everything from nosebleeds to cancer are blamed on something leached in the water.

For those that show syptoms of the illness one would expect from exposure to whatever was detected at ground zero let's make sure we follow-up with them and get them help.  Otherwise we'll just end up paying for every illness anyone ever gets for the rest of their lives regardless of its epidemiological origin.

And then it will spread to New Orleans.

Obama's a dick.

98 Current trends continuing, in another month or so, Pat Buchanan will be able to win the governor's or senate seat in New York.

102 He's trying to pretend 9/11 never happened.  It upsets his view that Americans are the source of all evil and Muslims are innocent victims.

Posted by: Trimegistus at January 28, 2010 05:09 PM (OW3Eh)

103 Of course he's trying to pretend 9/11 never happened; he sympathizes with Islam.

No more money for Haiti until we help our own?  I like that!  And how about no more free health care for illegal aliens?

And doesn't this sort of thing really make you want to government power over health care?

/Sarc.

/I think Chicago would be a wonderful place to hold the KSM trials.  Or maybe even Washington D.C.

That was kind of my thought too.

I'm all for taking care of any and all 9/11 responders, and if in doubt, I'd take care of them anyways. I just get a queasy feeling in my gut when people talk about open-end obligations that go on forever and could potentially include everyone.

The Messiah could order the rounding up and extermination of every single living thing in New York, all the way down to the lowliest single-celled life-form, and he'll still carry the state in 2012.  The rescue and clean-up folks? A lot of them will just fellate him harder to prove that they are indeed worthy of his disinterested bukakke shot.  I'm sure that there will be some who resist, but probably not a minority.

The hardcore lefties still know that they are in a position to deal the country a death blow through the Obizzle.  They're not gonna let the opportunity pass them by.

106 Also, no more foreign aid for Egypt, Pakistan or the Palestinians until this gets taken care of.

107 Lets not assume that just because Obambi is against this that it is a bad thing. Stopped clock and all of that. I've read too much about the fraud associated with health issues and aggressive lawyers. Think asbestos, which was a wonderful product, but is now considered the devil's own brew. Probably 1% of the activity associated with asbestos should have been modified, then everyone would have been perfectly fine, safe, and healthy. As it stands now, if you or your grandfather ever touched or smelled asbestos, there are lawyers somewhere that want to sue on your behalf. And think for a second. What happened to the 5 billion dollars that was raised for WTC victims and survivors. Did any of that money go to potential future victims and the heros that risked their lives to help in this dire situation. If so, then maybe the largesse of the american people has paid this forward. If not, then lets hunt down the human vermin that siphoned off that money from the good use of it and into their own pockets. I think for once Barry is right. God, that hurts to say, because he has now ruined his almost perfect record of being a completely wrong asshole.

" Yeah, but Massachusetts proves we the United States citizens prefer to use peaceful means. Think he might get it if the D's lose 90% of their open seats in Nov? If he doesn't I expect our Supreme court and our military is perfectly willing to go Honduras on him and peacefully use their power to exile his commie ass when he steps over the line.

111 I agree 100% Palerider. I'm not by any means advocating unrest, I know what comes with that. Just look at the faces on SCOTUS and the Joint Chiefs brass last night. They were not amused. He has rope.....just enough for other Constitutional powers to choke his Marxist ass if the situation presents itself.

112 You know all those shitty Saw torture-porn flicks, where the solution is so damn obvious there is no way they'll do it? So they always end up dead, maimed and two steps behind?

Yeah, same thing. This is a trap. A stupid, crude trap. (Which only a Republican party "leader" could fall for.)

The only way you win is never, ever, ever play by his rules--in the universe of possibilities, your choices cannot be limited by one person no matter how smart they think they are.

114 12 Do you think that  Precedent Peace Prize is wee wee'd up over NY not wanting to conduct the terror trials there?

The two events have to be related.  But which is payback for which?

The sad part of this story is, if a Special Presidential election were held tomorrow, dumb as a rock New York would vote overwhelmingly for Chairman Maobama, who has just pissed all over them.

Fucking cockchoking piece of shit lefty rectal swab...

Who elected this fucking fuckhole!?

The man -and I use the term more loosely than the electicity of Tila Tequila's (or whatever that filthy cumdumpster's name is) snatch- is a fucking CATASTROPHE.

No "Epic Fail", no "Face Palm", no "Insert Interweb Meme Here", the pile of waste in the oval office is a fucking bonafide CATASTROPHE

My only comfort in all of this is that perhaps, by electing such a gunch, the American people will be incapable of making such an egregious electoral mistake EVER A-GAIN!!!

Fucking worthless fuckfaced fuckrod...

Please pardon my reckless and uncalled for use of the word gunch in the above comment but shit like this upsets me.

117 As for a new location for the KSM trial, I nominate Washington DC, somewhere very close to the WH.  Or Chicago.  Or SF.  Point is, give the nutless monkey socialists their show trial.

118 For what it's worth I'm with Jim in SD. What happened to workers compensation coverage? I'll tell you. Nothing. It's always been there and many claims have been filed. If the Feds want to financially assist the state wc funds because of the scope of the exposure for claims I can somewhat agree with that.

I guess I have too much experience with the NYC fire and police unions to agree to a blank check here. This has always reeked of a boondoggle, with "heroes" materializing out of Staten Island, coughing and pointing to their wallets.

I'm all for some assistance, but no way this kind of money is owed.
