— DrewM It's at least Round 2, maybe more.
The most thin skinned POTUS in recent memory really doesn't like be criticized. At all. Naturally the lapdogs at CBS News gave the Whiner In Chief a chance to talk how mean everyone is. Obama obliged and name checked Limbaugh and Beck.
Rush responded to Politico.
"I and most Americans do not believe President Obama is trying to do what's best for the country," he wrote. "Never in my life have I seen a regime like this, governing against the will of the people, purposely. I have never seen the media so supportive of a regime amassing so much power. And I have never known as many people who literally fear for the future of the country."
It's actually pretty scary when the President of the United States of America calls out individual citizens by name for doing nothing more than exercising their 1st Amendment rights.
Obama's horror at the 'vitriol' of public debate is pretty selective. I don't seem to recall him taking say, Keith Olbermann to task over his rantings about Bush (which I'm pretty sure Bush never whined about like a little bitch). Hell, Obama could slap Olby around right now for calling Tea Party participants racists.
But Obama doesn't.
In part it's because he agrees with Olbermann to one degree or another but more importantly, Rush, Beck and the rest are talking about Him. How dare they! Who the hell are these bastards to criticize God's gift to mankind?
This most un-presidential of presidencies continues apace with Obama attacking citizens because his so damn thin skinned and of course, it helps with the base.

Bush got hammered by the media and the leftwingers for 7 friggen years and still would always just say people have a right to express their opinion when asked about it. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do, I know alot of us wish he would have hit back.
Obama is coming off looking like a whiney little bitch with this crap though and all it is doing is making people dislike him more. Maybe Bush was right, try and be president to all the people, even the ones that think you're fucking Hitler.

the day will come sometime after 2012 or 2016 when Obama gives an interview where he gets backed into a corner and hammered by the host. That will be the day that the mask finally is stripped of this phoney con man and the world will watch in shocked amazement that this man managed to hodwink America into electing him President.
He would'nt make on a high school debate team with his thin skinned response to opposing points of view. As far as his basketball skills I'd bet that my 53 year old, 5'10", not so skinny, patched up left knee, out of shape body could get a few choice words out of him on a b-ball court. I doubt he's played a game of b-ball in the last decade that wasn't against someone play a "customer game". Nobody is throwing an elbow into his ribs as he backs into the lane ...
I got my first job on Wall Street by playing squash with the President of my furture employer and before we started he explicitly said I was NOT to play a customer game. Beat him like a red headed rented mule and he loved the fight. Somehow I don't see Obama getting schooled and loving it.

Bush didn't respond to the loony left because a) he didn't want to lower the office of the president to that level, and b) Bush had this funny notion he was president of ALL the people, and Bush didn't think it was right for a president to disparage Amerian citizens for simply expressing their opinions.

"I, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God." Could any man, who swore that oath on March 4, 1933, and who had not lost his sense of proportion, express in no uncertain terms his desire that Congress disregard any doubts, "however reasonable," as to the constitutionality of a measure the passage of which he himself was demanding?

Evidently, the First Amendment doesn't really mean what Americans have always thought it to mean. Did you catch the Atlanta NBC piece about the anti-Precedent billboards?
"ATLANTA -- One group is taking freedom of speech and freedom of expression to the limits in a series of Metro Atlanta highway billboards voicing strong opinions against President Barack Obama."
To the limits ... putting up a billboard that takes issue with the Precedent.
Yep. That's a mighty restrictive First Amendment they are thinking about. Mighty restrictive ... almost strangulating.

The legal and law enforcement infrastructure of the Federal government is only set up to protect the government and not the citizens. So, if the government is assaulting private citizens, then they will only protect their own, and not the citizens.
Where this puts the states and the entire concept of Federalism, I have no idea.

DefinitionNarcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

But the head fake is a concession that the left and Obama have lost the the argument. Now when a Repub takes office in 2012 or 2016, they can massively open up drilling and say, "I'm just doing what Obama did."
In the same way Bush's spending and the prescription drug bill paved the way for Obamacare, this paves the way for more drilling.
Plus, the eco-elite are the white minority that runs the Democratic party. And that is not tenable. How long will the poor majority hispanics in California keep voting to protect the beach front property of the rich, liberal white elite?

37 Barry is an elitist douche who's been told all his life how "special" he is. I doubt he's ever heard any true criticism of his wonderfulness until now. Every now and then he lets his mask slip and you see the seething anger lying just underneath the smug facade.
He's a product of the "my mommy told me I was special, therefore I am," American-Idol-thinking ("I'm a great singer because mommy told me everything I do is great" even though you suck) mentality that many parents of the 60s & edumicators imparted onto children.

Sometime in the next few decades the hispanic majority in states like California will have enough votes that they won't have to kiss white eco-ass anymore. And some ambitious politico will play the race card and say, "Why are we protecting the beachfront property of rich whites, when my poor hispanic constituents could use some petro-dollars?" And that politico will win big.
The eco-consensus in the West and Northeast relied on a white middle class who identified with the rich liberal whites. The white middle class could imagine that they might hit it big and someday it could be them with the Malibu beachhouse. The high school dropout Mexican does not feel the same solidarity or have the same illusion.
The progressive eco-left in America will be done in by the very diversity they so ardently champion. And it will be fun to watch.

Good point. The Latin Americanization of the United States will mainly be a bad thing. But it will mean we drill for oil while we swing wildly back and forth between left-wing populist Socialists and right-wing populist Authoritarian ruling elites.
A future American society with a large underclass, a vanishing middle class, and an ethnic minority economic elite (whites and asians) will be an unstable, scary, violent America. It will be interesting, though. And it will drill for oil.

Henry II's nemesis was Becket, Henry VIII's was More. Murder in the Cathedral was about Becket; A Man For All Seasons was about Moore.
Becket's beef with Henry II had to do with the authority of the Church over the King: was the King an absolute sovereign, or was he basically subject to the Bishop's authority (because the Bishop was the representative of Rome)?
More objected to Henry VIII's divorce on the grounds that it violated the sanctity of the marriage vows. (Divorcing his barren wife to marry a more fertile one wasn't a valid reason for a divorce, in Rome's view. So Henry VIII invented the Church of England specifically to get around this rule.) More found in the end that he couldn't remain neutral; Henry wanted him (and his famously moral character) in his corner, not Rome's.
Becket wasn't much of a hero in his own right, but Sir Thomas More was and is a moral giant.

There was that recent poll about how many Republicans thought that Oblahma was the anti-christ. Can you imagine what the statistics would be for Rush if the dims were polled? Those people have some serious hate issues.
Posted by: Sweetsrender at April 02, 2010 10:46 AM (rVDlM)
Now, the Republicans will say 2+2 has always equaled 4. They'll say 2+2 equaled 4 from George Washington to George Bush. And you know what? They're right. George Bush did say 2+2=4. Just like he said Iraq had WMDs. And it's the failed math of the past that led to the failed policies of the past. We can do better. We must do better.
That's why I've been clear on my support for 2+2=5. I was outfront and outspoken on the new math issue. I know the Fox Newses and Glenn Becks and Rush Limbaughs out there will try to say this is some law of nature that 2+2 always equals 4. But don't listen to 'em. They're trying to trick you. Trying to hoodwink you. Trying to bamboozle you.
Now, I think we've been bamboozled long enough by this 2+2=4. I think in an age when America has shown so much promise in overcoming her racial sins of the past by electing me, that we shouldn't turn the clock back to the old math, the math they used back during the dark days of slavery and Jim Crow.
2+2=4 might have worked when counting the number slaves to buy and sell, or the number of dogs to unleash on innocent black children whose only crime was wanting an education ... but it doesn't work in today's modern age of diversity. Just as we needed Affirmative Action, now we also need Affirmative Mathematics. Which is why I'm convening a 12 person bipartisan commission to study how best to implement this new math. This panel will be evenly balanced and comprised of 9 Democrats and 7 Republicans, 3 of whom will be Lindsey Graham. I look forward to their report and I expect the new math will be implemented in all 57 states by the end of my first term.
Thank you. And good night.
