— Gabriel Malor If you intended to pick up a telephone, send a fax, an email, or a letter (although a letter is probably too slow to matter), here are my suggestions for Dems leaning toward voting against the healthcare bill. I was wondering with the Dem women being called for a Pelosi party,
if
she is asking them to back off pro-abortion, single payer demands, and write to all their nutroots to back down on demands and advocate for the greatest (almost we promise to slide in single payer, and abortion somewhere soon)
so all the hold outs will vote yes.
isn't that what Kucinich was demanding (single payer) and he buckled? yes he might have gotten a file of his/or wifes lives to be exposed or money for something but, what if it is the promise of single payer?

Democrats hope that Obamacare will become more popular once it is enacted and the debate dies down. But the debate will not die down: Republicans have at least two election cycles to go before the legislation goes into effect, and in the interim Democrats will have ownership over every aspect of the health-care system. Do Democrats really believe that their bill will cause public satisfaction with that system to undergo a large increase?
The Democrats might well succeed in getting this legislation passed on a mixture of will, procedural tricks, and deception. (Obama is still insisting that the legislation does not cut Medicare.) If so, Republicans should call for the repeal of the legislation’s major elements and their replacement by sensible, modest, free-market health-care reforms. And they should challenge those Democrats who balked at Obamacare to do the same. Pelosi’s troops want nothing more than for this war to be over. Conservatives have to make it clear that it will merely have moved on to a new front — and that the Left’s fortifications will be no sturdier.

I live in Altmire's district, the 4th congressional district of pa. His phone number in DC is busy, and his local office isn't picking up the phone and the mailbox is full.
Jay Cost lives in my district as well and wrote an editorial in the local paper asking altmire to vote no
Our district is a + something Republican district, but more importantly it is a socially conservative district as well, so this abortion thing isn't going over too well with the people here.

OK - this is unbelievable: (via the corner)
WhenÂ’s the last time we heard the name of Louise Slaughter? Oh, thatÂ’s right, it was when she was calling for the House to KILL the Senate bill on CNN.
HereÂ’s what Slaughter said in an op-ed:
The Senate health care bill is not worthy of the historic vote that the House took a month ago.
Under the Senate plan, millions of Americans will be forced into private insurance company plans, which will be subsidized by taxpayers. That alternative will do almost nothing to reform health care but will be a windfall for insurance companies. Is it any surprise that stock prices for some of those insurers are up recently?. . .
Supporters of the weak Senate bill say "just pass it — any bill is better than no bill."
I strongly disagree — a conference report is unlikely to sufficiently bridge the gap between these two very different bills.
It's time that we draw the line on this weak bill and ask the Senate to go back to the drawing board. The American people deserve at least that.

I'm supposing that Nanny is hauling all the women in to tell them that they are going to have to give up the sacrament of abortion funding to get the bill passed but that she has a "work around". Can't let a baby live if it can die.
I agree, they've invested to much in this to lose. They are all in. They will do everything they have to do to get it passed. Everything, nothing is sacred, as long as a bill passes that is titled, "healthcare".

The Dims will not be able to hide behind their DemonPiss vote.
Citing an assertion from Rules Committee ranking member David Dreier (Calif.) that "a vote for the rule is a vote for the Senate bill," the group wrote: "We believe it is accurate to state in public communications that the effect of a vote for any rule illustrated in [Dreier's memo] is a vote for the Senate bill and all of its provisions." Put simply: Republicans believe that House Democrats using the "deem and pass" maneuver in no way prohibits GOP candidates and party committees from attacking them for "voting" for the Senate legislation.

One of the two friends has a summer home in Bishop's district so I was fully prepared with an address that was legitimate but nope they never asked. And they never asked my two friends also.

At this point my "Blue Dog" Democrat turned out to be as poisonous as I figgered, so I'm spending a lot of time leaving messages for her staffers.
I'm asking them to explain just how exactly I'm going to be able to afford my currently $150 p/m private Catastrophic Health Insurance premium once every sick, uninsured bastard in this state who needs $5,000 every fucking week for their "pre-existing" condition signs on to my plan.
BTW thanx for the high unemployment and the fact that this bill will actually force employers to fire more workers so that people who used to get their "pre-existing" conditions covered by their company plan will pile on my already unemployed ass.

NPR this AM referred to the Deem and Pass as an "arcane manuever designed to avoid a direct up-or-down vote". Worms are turning.
BTW, this late-breaking news was greeted with puzzlement and surprise by a co-worker, but then she proclaimed it okay when the NPR mouthpiece said "Republicans have done it too." Whew!
When I demurred, she wanted to argue with me, so I said "Look, you just heard about this 20 seconds ago. I have known about it for weeks, and read the opinions of literally dozens of commentators, judges, lawyers, and even law professors, on both sides of the issue. Don't you think it is a bit presumptuous of you to assume you just tripped over the ultimate truth, and then decide to straighten me out about it?"
From the look on her face, I guess she doesn't think it is at all, but isn't used to being smacked around with a reality-stick like that, either. (But she has clearly known the sweet caress of the self-righteous arrogance-stick.)

Still don't get why people are all warm and fuzzy about forcing insurance companies to cover "pre-existing" conditions.
Back in my days, fresh out of college, I did some insurance sales for a really good company, when they bought another one who's product line included "Guaranteed Issue" life insurance for seniors, I figured I'd rather shoot myself then try to sell that shit.

Employers aren't going to fire anyone. They are going to stop giving you insurance as a perk. period.
True dat; my old employer had already started requiring higher and higher employee contributions for less and less coverage. On top of that new hires at the time I retired would not have health coverage as a benefit on retirement. Also, the folks who were still covered (me included) would be forced onto medicare at 65 and off the company insurance.

He keeps running around saying that he's "waiting to see what his district thinks." The funny thing about that is that a) he keeps encouraging liberal groups to call his office to give him some cover on that; b) a survey that just came out this week indicates that over 60% of our district wants to have the bill scrapped entirely while only around 25% actually support passage as-is.
He's a lying sack of shit. Basically, he's one of the Reps that Pelosi allows to vote "moderate" if they don't need him. The fact that he's pretending that there's any kind of conflicted opinion amongst his constituents is the best indication to me that she doesn't have this locked up yet. If she did, she'd let him vote "No."
On the even worse side, his challenger in the next election is going to be Mary Beth Buchanan, who I actually think is an even slimier piece of shit than he is. Dammit, why couldn't Mike Turzai run? He'd be the cat's balls.

What about the employers who never offered insurance in the first place?
Is this the Obama administration's solution to under-employment in this economy?
Just fucking eliminate part time jobs?
Will the employers that do offer insurance as a "perk" increase the wages of the workers that they do retain to compensate for the reduction in benefits?
What about employers who have a largely or even partially unionized work force? Those contracts have been negotiated. Sometimes years in advance. Guess those companies will have to fire everybody not in the union, huh?

Reposting this from last night. I did this letter/email for a conservative friend so that he could send it out to his contacts in their "maybe" district. Perhaps some of this can be useful to my fellow morons.
Some websites only allow so much text, so feel free to edit/delete/change and forward as appropriate.
(Dear Congressman,)
I write to encourage you to oppose government-run health care and any legislation which might broaden the federal government's control over my health care.
Current health care legislation will result in lost health insurance and lost jobs for the American people and will push us deeper into recession.
Nobody has ever attempted this level of centralized planning. The federal government does not have my trust to run a program as big as the economy of France. I disagree with how this whole thing has been handled, behind closed doors, with favors or outright bribes. The way this is being done feels wrong, especially this Slaughter shenanigan. I agree with the WSJ, who said yesterday, this “gambit is a brazen affront to the plain language of the Constitution.”
If this "reform" is truly about "controlling costs," why did the democrats rig the estimate on the first decade of costs by delaying the programÂ’s start by five years? Why hasnÂ’t tort reform be front and center? Why hasnÂ’t opening up competition across state lines be part of the proposal?
The federal government should NOT be funding abortions or health care for illegal immigrants. No matter what the democrat leadership says about this, I donÂ’t trust them. And I donÂ’t trust the government to interfere with the doctor/patient relationship.
Lastly, how the heck are we going to pay for this monstrosity? The country can’t afford another huge program; you saw how Moody’s warned yesterday about “preserving debt affordability,” right? Last week S&P warned our triple A credit rating was at risk. The only way the U.S. will rise to the financial challenges we face is if we stop spending money we don't have, and that means voting no on this healthcare bill.I hope that you fight against health care legislation that would drive up costs, diminish quality and limit access.
It is just not right, especially not in a republic, to cram this down our throats. There’s a reason the congressional switchboard was nearing overload Tuesday – people don’t want this!
The Washington Post reported Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it. Are you kidding me? So you want to go from passing bills without reading them to passing bills without voting on them? Are the democrats crazy?
Please listen to us and vote no.Sincerely,

This is how the politics will look on a national level if Obamacare passes. Even if Obamacare is a huge disasterous boondoggle that wastes money and destroys care, the Democrats will just run on grounds that their opponents want to take away your health care.
It must be stopped.

Almost killed me.
Didn't help, as it turns out...
Unfortunately only one of them was a bit of bookkeeping / invoicing that was a cash job for an elderly neighbor.
NO W-4 work any more....sooo solly, must sit on assets and try to ride this storm out. Hope you understand.
I don't really exist in the statistics either.
My neighbor's a cool dude and all but I don't see how him tossing me the odd $20 under the table to print out an invoice is going to cut it.

Rep. Murphy,
Please vote against any of the current versions of health care reform. Anybody with a shred of honesty will admit that the biggest problem with health care in America isn't access. A bevy of federal programs already control access: SCHIP, Medicare, Medicaid, SSDI. It is costs. This bill does nothing to control or lower the cost of care or the price of premiums. All signs point to private insurance premiums continuing to rise, with the growth possibly exaggerated by the current versions of the health care bills.
Voting against the bill would accomplish two things in the eyes' of 20th district voters: 1) you send a message that you are serious about solutions, not power or posturing; 2) you are against the corrupt atmosphere in which this bill was fostered, and the possibly unconstitutional manner in which this bill could be passed.
Please vote against the House reform effort. New York has seen the devastating effects of government overextending itself. This bill will only make it worse on both the federal and state levels.
Sincerely,

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, if Allen Boyd votes for this piece of shit reconciliation bill with the student loan takeover in it, 700 people in his district who work for Sallie Mae will lose their jobs. Sallie Mae is running radio ads here in Philadelphia that are great, talking about all the jobs in PA and Delaware that will also be lost if the government takes over student lending.
This bill isn't just about health care. Once they take over student lending, the government will control all mortgage lending, all college lending, and most automotive lending, as well as your health insurance. And these people hgave the nerve to call US crazy when we talk about socialism! What the hell else do you call it!?!
