Always thought Delaware was a drive through state, you see if you can actually drive through it in ten minutes on your way to somewhere else.

That's just another annoying toll stop when you're driving from Jersey to Washington DC.

50% of random people we can get to talk on the phone in the middle of the day while real people are out working or looking for work approve of Obama.
That's some big news there.

"I would rather be a good President and not be re-elected..."
Or in other words, the greatest political oxymoron ever uttered by someone previously thought of as "brilliant" in the history of earth.
Oh and Obama, FYI, good presidents are re-elected because they're, um, good.
** What he really meant to say was, "I would rather be a good Marxist and not be re-elected..."

Are you looking at a different poll than this one?
RCP poll averages for Obama popularity.
Per the aggregated poll you cite, Obama has lost a net of 20 approval points since July of 2009.
If its any consolation to you, the RATE of his decline appears to have slowed down a bit over the last few months. . .but not to zero.

Rasmussen Obama Approval Index History
Interesting how "biased" Rasmussen has Obama as flat over the last two months, while a number of "non-biased" other pollers have had his general approval dropping in that time.
My take on this is that around 50% approval, isn't too terrible given just how crappy the economy is right now.
But pretty clearly, the "magic" has worn off for Obama, and the current popularity trend for him doesn't look good.

#31 I usually go by RealClearPolitics AVERAGE of approval ratings from 4 or 5 polls. On that Obama's approval rating has been pretty steady for the last 6 months
I think john Ryan misread the chart. Poor special little thing.

Wookiee invited an Army wife. I know she promised to "make military wives an issue" during her reign, but other than a campaign stunt, was there any other outreach? All that ever gets reported is fashion and bleating about vegetables.

1. It's not the bluest state in the union but it is very pro-dem and hasn't gone red since 1988
2. It's the VP's home state, and voted for Obama w/ 63% of the vote
3. Delaware is a state that can go red, in 1992 Perot stole Poppy Bush's chance to take the state, in 1996 Clinton only got 51% of the vote, and in 2000 & 2004 Dubya was able to get his opponents to only win the state w/ 54% of the vote in 2000 and 53% in 2004.
4. If DE goes red in 2012, it's going to be a big Republican win

From yahoo's main page:
With the president's State of the Union address coming up on Wednesday, the White House appears to be struggling to find its feet. Republican Scott Brown's surprise victory in liberal Massachusetts has dominated the national conversation in the last week and made Obama's goal of signing health care reform impossible before the big speech. Now, even Obama's apparent attempt to soothe voters' budget-deficit concerns by proposing a three-year freeze on some federal spending is being met with ridicule from both the right and the left.
Liberals aren't happy either, arguing that less government spending will slow economic growth, and that cutting government services will harm those in need. New York Times columnist Paul Krugman labeled the freeze "a betrayal of everything Obama's supporters thought they were working for." Kevin Drum of Mother Jones echoed those sentiments, writing that "the liberal base has yet another reason to be disgusted with Obama." MSNBC host Rachel Maddow went even further, saying that the "counterintuitive" plan is a "completely insane" one that violates the basic principles taught in any "101 level college econ class."
Oh my.
Posted by: TheQuietMan at January 26, 2010 01:31 PM (1Jaio)
Oh of course, it wouldn't be complete without the obligatory military-as-victims passion play. As if under Bush military wives were raped and their families left to starve in the streets.

I didn't watch Beck's special on commies and progressives, and bears (oh, my!). Me, I'm still pondering the potential irony in the verbal beating he issued to Pat Robertson for being a right-wing nut job.
Anyway, smarter people than me did watch it, and I recommend a well-written piece on it by Ron Radosh. Also check out the interesting comments by other people smarter than me (yeah, I know how easy that is) that follow Prof. Radosh's piece.

K~Bob, that's the one. Googling the license plate took me to John Gocha's myspace page, which also links to that article you linked to. Pretty crazy seeing that thing right near Compton.
I've seen a lot of cars in the $150-$250k range around Newport Beach, but this is the most expensive thing I've ever seen on the road. The windows were too dark to see who was driving the thing.

Damn! Does that make your face go all squidgy when you get the G's piling up on you like that?
I got to ride in a totally hot-rodded 1970 Nova SS (with the big V
once. Stock versions didn't turn in exciting 0-60 times, but this thing was totally hooked up. Bored out, headers, you name it. It went from 0-60, uphill, with four adults, in less time than it takes to type this.
It also had a tendency to twist off-axis due to the immense torque the engine put out. You had to be a serious racing nut to even drive the thing. I needed serious alcohol after that ride.

BTW, a Mike Castle win wouldn't be that great. He's a total RINO who voted for Cap & Trade. Numbers-wise in the Senate, it would be cool, but he's basically a McCain clone in a lot of ways (e.g., not as liberal as Snowe, but more so than, say, Coburn).

"We're going to Delaware"
I have spent much of the last five years working in Delaware. Yes, they are a "blue state", and an (expensive) pass-through between Baltimore and Philly on I-95, but I do love the folks in DE and hope they see the light and go "Red" in 2010.
What's not to like? Dover AFB, Decent cost of living, The Beaches, NASCAR, soft-shell crabs (all the NASCAR drivers go to these great dive bars just outside of Dover), Gambling, Outlet shopping, reasonable "oasis" between Philly and Baltimore/DC....(and not necessarily in that order)
Full disclosure: I'm from Chicago so there is no vested interest here. You know how the O feels about Biden.
