Yeah, that's another 'odd' example of things Obama says. I really think if some one or some group would take the time to run this stuff down, you could then use it as a predictive indicator of an Obamaesque rebuttal or talking point.

If you could take it a step further, you/we/our side could float trial balloons, and when the lefty sites get a hold of those trial balloons, and rebut them, we could then alter the official policy stance to pre-negate many of those exceptions that then would force them to make use of their second and third tier 'best arguments'. It's a bit arcane, but less clunky than the old Soviet "change in the correlation of forces".

"Optics" seems to be in vogue right now among journos, meaning "appearances", or "how things superficially look".  Even Chas. Krauthammer uses it.

Basically, drugs arenÂ’t going away and the Mexican government just hopes they can regain the balance among the cartels so that they can continue to rake in the money while eliminating the most egregious acts of violence that are currently scaring away tourists.

And the US attempts at eradicating the drug trafficking business were successful enough in the Caribbean but that merely drove the routes through Mexico instead so in the end the “drug war” is a failure on our part.

Mexico has always fudged their numbers. Their last official murder rate is about 10 per 100,000 people but their real number is closer to 20 per 100,000. They have no official numbers since 2008 and "officially" now they have half the number of murders than they did in 2003 when compared to 2008. That last number is not even close to credible IMO.

Thanks for the Stratfor and Dallas Morning News articles. Jebus, 23,000 dead. It's pretty clear that unconstitutional/extraconstitutional means are necessary to destroy the cartels.

One thing, though. If Barry manages to destroy the United States, the cartels are out of business. No one will be able to afford their narcotics.

Mexico has always been fucked up, though. I remember back in the late 1980s they busted up some black magic cult that was killing people and eating them. Then you've got the hundreds of young women that disappeared in Northern Mexico over a period of years. They've found tons of bodies buried out in the desert. All young women. They've no clue what's going on there.

Yep.  It's very telling stuff that most people, the entirety of the lame stream media, along with most pundits (conservatives included) just skip right over.  And The Precedent seems to have no shame, no sense of embarrassment at all, about making these odd mistakes, constantly.  That is what should scare people.  Such brazen stupidity (along with transparent deceit, which is also rife through this administration) are signs of very, very bad stuff to come - far worse than anything we've seen so far, which is pretty damn bad, already.

I wish.  The family could use you.  My immediate family is cool and on the ball, but the cousins are ... kind of out there, if you know what I mean.  Nice enough people, but bleeding hearts to a fault.  A big fault.  I've been working on them, though maybe not in the most subtle of ways ...

They don't say in the article, but I wonder if Iran was invited....
