Ogabe/Incompetano DHS passed off FOIA requests to political commissars
— Purple Avenger

Sweet.

...For at least a year, the Homeland Security Department detoured hundreds of requests for federal records to senior political advisers for highly unusual scrutiny, probing for information about the requesters and delaying disclosures deemed too politically sensitive(*), according to nearly 1,000 pages of internal e-mails obtained by The Associated Press...
(*) == embarrassing

97 Almost everything in government can be explained by one or another episodes of the old British comedy, "Yes, Minister" (later "Yes, Prime Minister").

One of the top civil servants took over the "Campaign for Freedom of Information" to make sure that people got the "right sort" of information, and that the "wrong sort" didn't come out. The show was cynical, portrayed government as a chain of bargains and manipulations with little concern for the governed... in other words, it's was like a documentary with jokes.

The stupidity increases. Who is 'they'? The eeeeevil Rethuglicans? This post is about the Dear Leader's Administration being caught, by the AP no less, strangling the flow of information in violation of laws that pre-exist the ascendnacy of the One. You claimed that the Rethuglicans did it too. You were asked to back it up. Now it changed to demanding that others prove that the Rethuglicans "did anything about it"!?! You made the claim. Back it or concede the point. Or wander off.

112 I am sick of those who insist that we're doomed.

We wont be if we get rid of the career politicians.
That was the entire nexus of the Tea Party but it is being co-opted by the establishment.
Reassess your sentiment in six months.

114 BTW - use a lawyer to submit your FOIA requests. There are specialty firms out there and they can actually save you money and your identity is secured by attorney-client privilege. Very important bit-of-knowledge, please consider it.

115 This jerk Beto is no different from many other people I know that find themselves unable or unwilling to speak ill of the Dear Leader. I visited the store owned by a friend of many years, and when talk turned to politics, he downplayed the bad news that we've all been hearing, and finally served up the "well, all politicians are the same". I then noted the cute tricks that Obama played with fundraising during the campaign, stressing that neither McCain or Clintons' site accepted contributions that Obama accepted gladly. No, they are not all the same. It is very convenient to say so however.

I hear you sven.... but......

I invoked Godwins Law because everybody (well at least for now) universally regards the The Third Reich as evil.

Other "leftist peoples revolutions"..... meh.... not so much.  No point in drawing compare and contrasts with "Che" or Mao.....when an ever growing segment of our society thinks they are a swell dudes.

OK. There is someone putting in the light right now. Obama's crew is caught with its pants down.
Who is going to do anything about it?
Beuller...Beuller...anyone.

119 The bureaucrats have all the power to flex against the citizenry.
The congress will never go in and clip any of these out of control bureaucrats  power and all their talk of de-funding will never come to pass.
Little by little we tack into a totalitarian state and it's never a point of contention between the parties.

The subject of this post was that the current Administration was illegally controlling information. One of its appointees is receiving reports that she does not deserve to get. This isn't about Congress, idiot or just bureaucrats.

Bullshit. He is a criminal and part of a sophisticated gang and anyone who ever paid attention to my posts will know I have said that since way before he was elected.
The problem is the GOP is a bunch of criminals too.

Well, that's a change. I would have settled for you just backing up what you yourself said, instead of this, or the 'woe is us' stream. But I'll take it.

P.S. You concluded with yet another unsupported assertion.

129 This story is far more important than the one attracting multiples hundreds of comments below.

Some serious research is necessary here. Who gave the order? Couldn't have been Osama Obama, could it?

And perhaps some lawyer should check to see if subverting the provisions of relevant law rises to the level of being a felony.

Pathetic. "they failed to act". For which you provided no proof. You suck at this. You made a specific assertion. Provide proof or concede the point.

132 So many to list but the biggest affronts to our rights....lately
Gramm-Leach-Biley and the Glass-Stegall repeal which allowed derivatives trading, the looting of Fannie and Freddie with said tactics and an unfettered and untouchable Federal Reserve.
Empowering the EPA to declare CO2 a poison and get control over every aspect of our existence.
Giving foreign powers a voice in our halls of power and legal system to lobby for the dissolution of our sovereignty.

All these things are illegal and violate the Constitution. What is the GOP leadership doing about it?

My wife is a senior Federal attorney, who used to do FOIA work for the Army. She says it is illegal for the Agency to do any inquiry into the employment or intended use of FOIA requested data.  Unless the requestor is asking for a fee waiver.

136 The National Socialists always keep "secret files"... They have to get the "dirt" because they cannot win on their Policies or actions. They use SLANDER on a daily Basis to keep the People off Guard and distracted from what they are doing to them....Read up on Alinsky.. it a step in the chain .. The next is total media control...  The death of the truth.. and a "blind" Public enslaved By Goverment dependency  is how they will take control... It here already!!
