I disagree.  Kucinich is a full-blooded communist who runs as a democrat for convenience.  Once he got on Air Force One and realized Wee Wee is also a red-diaper baby, he was onboard with Deathcare.

42 Kooky's a yes, Pelosi meets with female members to placate Stupak - the signs are pointing to a looming vote and it doesn't look good folks. Aside from the HC implications, passage of this beast will absolutely murder the economy. Taxes immediately go up on everyone (explicitly or implicitly) which is BAD w/10% UE. I personally know of people that are on the cusp of going under financially that until recently ran very successful businesses. All of that work down the toilet - just like everything else that this country once stood for. Jeez, I need a drink.

43 Rather than a program like Social Security or Medicare/Medicaid that start of as a tiny clusterf*ck and turn in to a colossal clusterf*ck, they are going to give us a colossal clusterf*ck from the get go.

I can't wait for them to pass this.  Then all those businesses out there not hiring because of an uncertain future can start the hiring frenzy.

Oh, I guess the legal effort might as well be tried. I don't fault Levin for putting his time and money where his mouth is and pledging to do that. But it's unlikely the court would step in and tell the House and Senate what their internal procedures must be.

108 So, does the midget get a full vote?

Posted by: Winston Smith, Slayer of Unicorns at March 16, 2010 05:10 PM (BFqyO)

109 The Slaughter Diversion is a head-fake, and seems to be working nicely. While Republicans are busy pounding their desks over a tactic that the Democrats would never actually use... Pelosi is working hard behind the scenes and securing all the votes she needs to pass their bill "honestly."

Republicans can't "kill the bill" by playing defense and trying to run down the clock. That might work when your team is ahead, but right now the Dems are up on points... plus they control the clock. R's may want to lead the country, but D's are intent on *ruling* it. If the Republicans have any hope of defeating this health care initiative, they need to rally around a single, strong message and get it out there - and fast.

Kucinich is from a red district. He will probably lose his seat now.

The 10th District in Cuyahoga County is one of the few solid blue areas in Ohio. Barring a recall from one of Saturn's moons, Kucinich is likely here to stay.

If they succeed, and I still pray they do not, they will know that there is nothing that they can not force down our throats.  No law or customer will stay their hand.  They will stop at nothing to destroy all remaining good in this nation.  They'll do every vile thing that their corrupt imaginations can concieve, up until they are finally thrown out.  Will they leave elections in place?  And if they do, will there be anything even slightly resembling an honest vote count?

People need to start giving thought to what constitutes an illegal, illegitimate government, and deciding what is to be done once we get there.

Interesting, because Obama can offer nothing like that.  With Scott Brown in the Senate, the only way to get what he wants is through the Slaughter rule, i.e., reconciliation.

So, his vote is for the Slaughter strategy.

You know, I don't know that these vote counts have counted regular votes against Slaughter votes.  I'd think the Slaughter gambit gets more commies but it has to be poison for a handful of other Dems.

Posted by: AmishDude at March 16, 2010 07:08 PM (Vo2Ef)

185 What are you smoking? I don't think any rational person was depending on any of the moonbat dems to vote no. If one subscribes to "all Dems are the same" then this would have passed long ago. Every no flipping to a yes only increases the perception of momentum and who is a winning side. Far more clever observers than any random AOSHQ moron have opined that Dem opposition consisted of several varieties, including a faction who were opposed to approving the Senate bill because it is not far enough to the left. If every hard left Dem was always a yes, this would be much closer. If what firedoglackey reports is true, that is an interesting wrinkle. Many Dems may be holding out for goodies, whether illusory or not.

Posted by: George Orwell at March 16, 2010 07:23 PM (AZGON)

186 If one subscribes to "all Dems are the same" then this would have passed long ago.

Sure. but the far left moonbats know it's a foot in the door. They know once anything is passed, Obama can declare a victory and then the serious march leftward begins. Not to write them off completely, maybe they really have principles, too, but the Democrats in red districts seem more persuadable.
