— DrewM Just got word from the Power That Be, that in honor of the federal government giving "non-essential" personnel the day off, Ace decided that applied to him here at the blog. Or there's storm related problems with his internet connection. One or the other, I forget.
So while he watches an endless loop of Sandy Duncan shows in honor of Superstorm Sandy, it's an open blog!
If you have something, please put your post in draft and one of the co-bloggers will post it. This way we won't have posts piling up on each other.

Crunching the numbers from that Gallup poll that shows Romney leading Obama among early voters 52%-46%, if the full numbers are correct, then Romney will edge out Obama once all the votes are counted on election day 48.75% to 44.07%, before we factor in the undecideds split (which is also going in Romney's favour.
This pretty much matches a lot of other converging sources of information that are pointing to a 4-5% lead in the popular vote.
There's no way we lose Ohio.

In Australia, Nabisco also produces vegemite, bacon, and nacho flavored "biskits" (locally "flavour crisps"), as well as more traditional flavors such as barbecue, crispy potato, and salt and vinegar. In a Biskit crackers are packaged in a 175-200 gram box or a "Multi-pack" which contains ten bags of 25 grams each. Multi-packs are used in several Nabisco products and were introduced as part of the In a Biskit line in August 1999.
In the United States, only the chicken flavour is available, and is instead part of a line of crackers known as Flavor Originals that includes Better Cheddars, Sociables, and Vegetable Thins
====================
It's not fair, why do the down under limeys get bacon and nacho flavored?

I'm sure that the 'man-made global warming' crowd will try to say that this 'Super Storm' was caused by their favorite excuse...AGW.
But as usual, they're ignoring all the Core Sample Data that has been collected in the last decade or so...that shows a history of 'Super Storms' in the past.
Core Samples taken as far inland as five miles, have shown ocean debris deposited from major storm surges...periodically, for thousands of years.
And it's not just one geological study, there have been several.
So while these bigass storms are something 'new' to us...they are not something that has 'never happened before'...as the liberals like to claim.

It was only a category 1 storm, so it wasn't that devastating wind wise. It was just REALLY big and brought a LOT of water with it. The water damage is the worst part of this.
That and they don't build anything up there to withstand wind because things like this can never happen, right?

Its pretty unlikely that the Netanyahu gov't has special "inside" information on the state of the race that isn't publically available (ie to you or to me).
The only possible thing he *could* have is the inside polling information from the Romney campaign, but that's highly doubtful, and even if he did have it, its not going to be conclusive. Of course the Romney camp thinks its going to win, as probably does the Obama camp. One side will be wrong.

SW/coastal CT is not much above the High water line.
the sound narrows there and when the tide gets pushed up, there's no where for the water to go but inland.
Power substations get drowned and out goes the power.
I-95 is also only a few miles (and sometimes on) from the water so that gets flooded.
they don't get hit often enough by storms/hurricanes to take expensive storm hardening.

I saw that. Sucks. I have a feeling though that row-house neighborhoods like so many in the NE are prime for this kind of fire, even in normal situations. Our normal wildfire seasons in OK burn up more homes than this almost on a yearly basis. It still sucks.

Dublin can't make the good DP anymore.
Under the terms of their agreement, DPS has purchased all of the Dublin bottler's sales and distribution operations and related assets, as well as the rights to distribute Dr Pepper and other DPS brands in the six-county territory previously served by Dublin. The former Dr Pepper bottler now does business as Dublin Bottling Works Inc. It will continue to produce other soft drinks at its bottling facility and operate its museum and Old Doc's Soda Shop, offering tours and selling soft drinks, food and officially licensed Dr Pepper merchandise.

I was with a friend some time ago when we were both in the bathroom at a department store in a mall.
I was at the stand up while he was in a stall when he burst out "CORN!?!?!? I don't remember eating CORN!!!"
There was one other guy in the room that almost passed out trying to contain the laughter.

233 that wasn't mine, look further up the chain. I endorse the Salvation Army.
It wasn't as if Jesus condemned those he healed with words to the effect, "Your sins are forgiven, you God damned good for nothing piece of shit. Now get lost and don't come back, or I'll give you something worth crying for." So if you're posing as the next best thing to Jesus in life, let the charity be charitable in the giving.
My last Priest "earned" his Monsignor capacity by organizing big buck donors for a local Catholic charity. He did it to earn his promotion, and because it needed to be done. (Certainly, we donated our kids furniture to them once upon a time; contributions benefited illegal aliens.) My gripe then was that thereafter, every damned Homily he'd manage to weave in condemnation of the homeless people as the drunken dregs of society who don't deserve help, being literally HOPELESS. But then, he also used the homily to consistently bash his own mother. He played ego obesity better than most with that problem, drawing in the innocent to be slaughtered under his care. That he hated his own drinking problem was his excuse to blame those less fortunate for all the evils in life. The priest before him wasn't much better. Nor the others in this Diocese. It's all about amassing power, who's "best". Can't blame them, really, since the 12 disciples played that game, too.

"Non-essential" doesn't indicate dead weight. "Essential" personnel are bare bones, "mind the store" numbers, usually managers or decision makers that depend on the non-essential types to do the heavy lifting. The non-essential designation applies to most action officers. It's like having a ship run by only the helmsman and captain. Lots of other people are needed to operate normally.
