My four kittehs aren't much for hunting. One tiny little stupid mouse came in about three years ago and I spotted him. Just a little one and I tried everything to alert my four spoiled cats to that fact. i was practically dragging them from room to room after it and throwing them at it. It finally was exhausted, probably from laughing so hard, and I picked it up by the tail and let it go outside. It deserved to live after that. I've never seen another mouse come in, but I can hear them snickering from outside sometimes and am really ashamed of my kittehs on this one. They were pathetic.

I decided to read the syllabus for my Apps of Tech class today, & was rather interested that they want us to learn the ins-&-outs of a majority of tech systems. We have 14 major projects, including 2 in which we have to set-up & troubleshoot a cassette recorder, overhead projector, video camera, dry mount press, opaque projector, LCD projector, & a document camera. Some of those sound legit, & the others are rather expensive items you'd only find in a large school.

Yeah, the guitar part can actually use a guitar controller with fretts on it if you want.  You might actually be able to learn to play a real guitar with rock band 3

Miss80sBaby, my son's school district has "active pads" for the classrooms which have replaced all the other technology. They are awesome, but require a bunch of training to use. Just turning them on is a challenge. But, they can write on them, play videos, use them as an overhead projecter, link to district videos (for science), play music, run slide shows, etc.

PGIS, she's a Senior in HS this year - we tried to hold her back the first day of kindergarten (it was obvious she wasn't ready to be in school), but it took us 6 years to get the school district to agree to it.  Best decision we ever made -

Jane D’oh, you reminded me, I was at a high school this week for a meeting and one of the parents said when the school was built they didn’t put in lockers, it was going to be this forward thinking strategy—safer if there were no lockers (I’m assuming this was just after Columbine). Anyway the plan was the students would have one set of school books for home that they wouldn’t need to bring to school, and each class would have another set of books for the students to use in class.

Only, the school district ran out of money and could only buy 1 set of books. So, for years the students have had to use rolling suitcases to transport their stuff from class to class.

Public school, obviously.

In both cases, it's a matter of depth & having to be careful. With the miners, this Australian company haa to drill 2000-3000ft without further damaging the mine. As for BP, they had to drill 2 holes 18,000ft below the ocean's surface. Neither one of those tasks can be done quickly, which is highly unfortunate.

About the miners, what's incredible is the amount of supplies the people at the surface have been able to give them, & through an incredibly narrow slot. They have a diagram here: http://tinyurl.com/2cfbsx2. It also explains part of the difficulty, along another diagram:

Experts are still examining two possible options to rescue the men.

The first, which entails drilling directly downwards from the surface, is considered the safest because it would minimise the risk of another potentially catastrophic collapse.

But even carving through the rock at a maximum speed of 20ft a day, it would take at least 100 days to reach them men, and a further hour to winch each of them up one by one.

The second option is to follow a shorter route to the men by building an underground platform for the drill at the lowest possible point, then cutting vertically through the zig-zag tunnels used to travel around the mine.

Apparently, Dang Straights it is, though perhaps the husband did some mischief the police donÂ’t think so. TheyÂ’ve had cadaver dogs in the house several times to search for the body, but because of all the decomposing food, rotting garbage, and animals in the house the dogs couldnÂ’t pick out the scent of a dead body.

I mean I’m leaving open the window of skepticism that the husband did away with the wife and used her hoarding to his advantage, but after having watched episodes of “Hoarders” this doesn’t surprise me.

The fact that you need to do this proves how idiotic microsoft is.  The most commonly used items that everyone uses must be added as a custom item.

And I did a quick search and if you want classic menu views it requires third party add in software.

OK, Z Ryan, here’s the thing that bothers me, that the girl didn’t discuss this with you before the date but went on the date with you to “observe you.” I mean what was that about? Was she trying to decide if you seemed OK enough to date even though she thought you were a paranoid schizophrenic? In that case it seems like maybe that’s not a wise choice on her part. I mean not that you actually are one, but she couldn’t have known that until she talked to you.

I guess what IÂ’m saying is, if it were me and I heard from someone that they knew you and you were a paranoid schizophrenic, before agreeing to go out with you again IÂ’d probably bring it up in a phone conversation. I guess you could lie about it on the phone to her, but still you were on the date at an unfair disadvantage, as a specimen under a microscope as it were.

ThatÂ’s just my 2 cents, which arenÂ’t really worth much in todayÂ’s economy.

A friendÂ’s husband, who worked at Microsoft for 15 years, was just laid off on Wednesday. It pisses me off that Microsoft is gambling on a technology that they are late to the market with, because what that means is they are eliminating a lot of other jobs to feed that gamble and when it fails, and it will fail, itÂ’ll take even more people down with it.

I think I've just been stressed lately, & this has just been a strange weekend. Going back to school is rougher when you're older. Am also rather confused by this blog sometimes, such as the constantly changing positions. Plus, some people just throw me sometimes, & I'm not talking about the blog.

Stress management is oftentimes easier said than done, I think, & I'll admit that's always been a difficult one for me. Sleep is probably the best thing for me too, so I'm out. G'nite, M&Ms.

Sounds like the case to me. She's looking for textbook Hollywood symptoms, too. I've only known one person with schizophrenia, but he's more OCD & prone to catatonia & the like than anything.

I have no real meaningful advice to give you, but if she will agree to it, ask her to go back and ask that guy some specifics about "your condition". Where did he hear about it and ask her to dig for specifics from him.

That will tell you if he just hates you and is telling lies or has you mixed up with someone else.

You could confront him directly, but people like that will usually just lie some more, if he really is a liar.
