— Open Blogger Well, my moron friends, this is my last guest ONT host gig. It has been a pleasure and an honor to have served my fellow morons in this capacity. It's harder than you think but fun nonetheless. I want to thank Ace and Maet for giving me this opportunity. That shock collar you made us wear to prevent us from posting naughty things is damn strong though! Hopefully, myself and the other scab-bloggers kept you enthralled and if not, well, I was gonna write something up but figured I'd let my man Russell Crowe address you.
I keed, I keed! On with the ONT!
Online Gaming
Now, those of you who did not participate in the ONT last night missed out on the Moron Penguin Home Run Derby. I present to you the opportunity to hit a penguin with a big spiked club and see who can hit it the furthest. So far, ChemJeff has the longest DOCUMENTED shot of 1157.2 feet.

Heh. Here's a list of the Top 10 Video Games you'll never see. I'm sure we could think of few new ideas for this list.
Movie Quotes
Whew! So much was made of the fact that not one movie quote from the movie Tombstone was included in that video of 100 greatest hollywood quotes on the ONT the other night that I had to include this little montage in this ONT.
Now in keeping with the movie theme right now, it's always fun to review some the 100 Greatest movie insults of all time.

Since it is Black Friday, I figured I may as well throw up the greatest Golf Shot of All Time by someone wearing black. You didn't really think I would talk about shopping did you?
Of course, if you want this golf outfit, it would seem that this outfit is still available.
OK, speaking of shopping, here is the latest price on Amazon for StarCraft 2
IMPORTANT FOOD ALERT!!!
Gentlemen, you might want to have another slice of that scrumptious pumpkin pie or at least smell it. It would seem that it increases median penile blood flow by 40%. One caveat. You need lavender mixed in with that pumpkin scent. Here's the full report.
Here's Nine Ways to Use Leftover Turkey.
The Mother of all Thanksgiving Concoctions!
How many of you made this Thanksgiving Meal? The TurBaconEpic is it's name. It's a 20lb pig stuffed with a 8lb turkey, a 6lb duck, a 4lb chicken, a cornish hen, a quail, bacon croissant stuffing (WTH?), and 10 lbs of bacon wrapped around all the layers. Hmmm, hmmm. 79,046 calories and 6,892 grams of food coma inducing fat.

Several of the news outlets in my area re-printed essentially the exact same AP article about how people were out in force for Black Friday deals and that they have more money to spend this year so are spending more etc. Which, in the bizarro world we live in I take to mean that the stores didn't actually do as well as hoped today.
I don't understand reality anymore.

In the Soviet Union, they could get all kinds of information by how the men were arranged in the photographs of Red Square or what kind of historical articles were being printed.
Probably we will have to get some of those skills going again.

In the late 70s, Cincy had these huge Ice Storms that put several inches of ice on all the roads. In late March or April they had to send earthmoving equipment to crack it off the streets and throw it onto the verge, since it wasn't melting even though the air temp was in the 40s. The piles lasted about three more weeks.

Every year we get the same shit from them: the consumers aren't buying as much as they should be (translation: as much as we want them to). It's all the fault of: Bush/Climate Change/The Internet/Bears/Jews.
Here's a clue for retailers. Maybe people would buy more stuff if you weren't selling crap. And if your stores weren't laid out like some kind of psychology experiment. And if everything didn't cost so fucking much. Maybe I didn't buy my kids genuine Harry Potter vibrating broomsticks because I don't like the idea of giving them Satanic pedophile sex toys.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not some Adbusters hipster sneering at "consumerism." I'm just tired of retailers acting like their problems are anybody's fault but their own.

make sure you keep your receipt, 360 is not a system you want to buy used as it's easy to burn the system out and then wrap it in a towel with it on to get it to work so you can trade it in. Personally, play it and if you like it, take it back and spend the extra for new console (only $100 more for the basic one for $200 for the 250 gig hard drive package)

My stepfather drives through part of the Mid-West on his trucking routes and he had a handful of "near-misses" with tornadoes during the summer.

I've never seen the show.
The promos show guys about as grounded as drunken frat boys shouting at each other, and getting out near tornadoes. The first show this year was showing victims with injuries, on TV and the drivers were all surprised to see it.

We also saw it in 3D. $15.50 for 3D! But I'm kinda glad I did because the movie works well in 3D. The colors are vivid and the 3D makes them pop even more. I was stunned by the art direction. It's amazing. Definitely one of the better ones. When I saw the teaser last year I was "meh" about it. The movie definitely exceeded my expectations. I shall be purchasing it when it comes out in DVD.

also, i took everyones advice yesterday. I went down to the local game stop and bought a refurbished xbox360 for 99 bucks.
I forgot to mention i have an addictive personality. I've been playing non stop for around 8 hours. I only stopped playing because I was worried I would burn it out. I'm not sure if buying it was a good idea, but theres no going back now is there?
Posted by: Ben at November 26, 2010 11:02 PM (DKV43)
make sure you keep your receipt, 360 is not a system you want to buy used as it's easy to burn the system out and then wrap it in a towel with it on to get it to work so you can trade it in. Personally, play it and if you like it, take it back and spend the extra for new console (only $100 more for the basic one for $200 for the 250 gig hard drive package)
oh i know, i researched it. I got a one year warrantee that covers everything and it only costs me 20 bucks. Also the guy at the store explained to me how I can game the system. I have the 20 dollar warrantee that covers all issues until Jan 15, 2012. After that I can't get a warantee on that consol. However, i were were to turn in my working consol and get a replacement for some fake reason, I can renew the warantee for 20 bucks. I can do this ad infinitum.

One of the biggest problems we face in cutting the budget is that left has managed to create a working majority of interest for every stupid line item in the budget from CPB to mohair subsidies. Essentially, the people getting the $$$ aren't going to abide by it going away and the much larger number of people paying $ in taxes don't care enough.
The solution to this is to nominally find some way to force the groups feeding at the trough to fight each other for dollars instead of combing to rip off taxpayers and their grandchildren. But this is hard...the left knows what is at stake, and this is why you see thinks like union goons fighting for environmental laws...
So, let's try something different...let's try localization.
Some parts of the federal government can't be localized - the DoD, the Treasury, etc, but a lot can. Let's give individual states the ability to choose, in two year blocks, which federal "services" they want and then send the states the bill for them.
Iowa may want the Agriculture Dept. New York may want HUD, MA may want the CPB. Well, fine, let them pay for it.
Suddenly there is a much smaller distance between paying for the services and getting them. Liberal states may indeed choose many such expensive programs and try to tax their way to prosperity. Moderate states will get to see up close and personal how much these programs are costing them and make a rational decision instead of "saving Big Bird". And conservative states can enjoy welcoming all the jobs fleeing the liberal states.
Further, this lessens the room for new deficit spending. Instead of a federal boondoggle like Obamacare adding trillions to the debt, states would have to pay up front for them...and they can't print their own money...

Ben, what game are you playing?
Resident Evil 5. When I was younger they were my favorite games. They've really changed the format. It used to be about strategy as much as shooting, not its more of a shooting game. You don't really have to conserve ammo, get a bunch of pass keys, solve puzzles, etc. You just kinda go through each stage with a partner shooting zombies.

There is more friction on the ground so you want to stay in the air as long as possible. That would normally call for a 45% angle.
However, the landmines can give you enormous bonus momentum. So I think the optimal angle is actually lower - perhaps as low as you can get and get over the initial barrier...

So far it's similar, yeah. However there is less wandering around. There is a confined area you stay in until you pass to the next stage. It's nothing at all like RE 1, 2, or 3 where you can wonder everywhere for hours trying to figure out what you're supposed to do. I remember RE1 took me about 40-50 hours to beat. I think I may have this one finished by 4 am or so. I plan on going back in about 10 minutes.
also the weapons are different in that you find gold or money when fighting and you can buy weapons at the end of stages or upgrade aspects of your weapons.

Should be interesting. In the game earlier today there was a graphic of how poorly Auburn has defended big receivers, and sure enough Julio Jones was having his way before he was injured. The 'Cocks' Jeffries is a 6'4" receiver who also had a solid game against Auburn. To that, SC has the advantage of being the only team playing Auburn twice, so I'm sure OBC has been doing a lot of work prepping. The 'Cocks played a close one in Auburn. . . .
I hope South Carolina wins but I wonder what Vegas thinks. +6.5?

yeah, my mouse and keyboard are finally starting to kick the can. Went to Newegg to get a keyboard and ended up with just a mouse so far. And of course I now see Amazon selling the MX518 for $24.99 with a $15 mail in rebate.
Main thing I'm looking for with a new keyboard is the shit lighting up as I tend to sit on the computer in the dark. As for the extra shit, it doesn't mean anything to me as I never use it. I just don't know what to buy

I think Wisconsin is set for a BCS game aren't they? They're the highest ranked Big 10 team in the BCS I thought, and in a threeway tie that will be the determination of who get the top spot for the Big 10 team. Its Michigan State or OSU that might not be able to grab an At Large spot.

But the rules change in the case of a Three way tie which happens if MSU Wisconsin and OSU all win tomorrow. The head to head would only be a factor if its a two way tie at the top.

I actually used to root for OSU against any team other than Illinois, but several years ago a guy moved here from Ohio, and he was the most obnoxious s.o.b I have ever known. He has moved on, thankfully. But I still don't like the Buckeyes.

Big Ten is a brutal division (and it gets worse next year) but OSU's big problem is choking hard in the Championship game

Oh colleges do. Hence the FCS which is the level of NCAA below the FBS. They're just afraid doing it at the top level could would kill their little money operation of Bowl games. Which is retarded, because its not as if the NCAA basketball tournament is preventing the NIT from being played. And all you have to do is set up some of the later bowl games to include the losing teams from the playoff games.

He's just seems so horrible at times. I remember watching I think the Florida game, and seeing the corners playing off the receivers like 5 yards or more from the line of scrimmage. So what does Florida spend the game doing? Passing to their receivers at or behind the line and then they've got a nice easy 5 yard gain or more. And they did it the entire game.

buzzion,
I think they also like to have the power of deciding who goes where, rather than let the accomplishments of the teams decide.
Hmmmmm. What ideology does that remind me off?
Posted by: Land of Leakin at November 26, 2010 10:26 PM (AMYl0)
I read somewhere a while back that the whole "rankings" started out like the current "Power Rankings" they have for the NFL on some websites. It started out as some sportswriters' niche thing he did for his weekly article each week in his paper. It was simply his own "power rankings". Somewhere along the line, the geniuses in college football decided to take that and give it even more importance and then decided "national champions" by this stupid "power ranking". And the rest is history.
I think it used to be that they chose a national champion before any of the bowl games were even played. They were all straight up exhibition games for bragging rights, and probably additional practice time for coaches to evaluate players for next year.

Well for years they basically were the dominating forces of the conference, with Wisconsin Iowa or Penn State putting up resistance at times but never in any real consistency. It seems like Rodriguez at Michigan has killed their potential for being the counter dominating force to OSU in the Big 10. And who knows how its going to be now with Nebraska coming in. If this was happening 5 years or longer ago, we'd pretty much be saying that Ohio State and Michigan are going to be playing eachother two weeks in a row.

Pfft. Save your pity. It's not required or desired here.
Don't see where I directed any pity towards anybody, least of all you. Re-read, if it's not too much of a stress on your mind. Think real hard (if that's possible) about how the word "pity" was used there. If you still can't figure it out, then curse the backwoods education you received when you were growing up. (That's taking for granted that you had some education and have grown up. I'm beginning to wonder.)

From that news article:
It is thought to be the most significant arrest of an American citizen planning to kill fellow Americans since the would-be Times Square bomber.
Do you idiots in the news (PR) industry see a trend here? All these jihaddi SOBs are always born in one of those "suspect" countries and immigrate over here and get citizenship so they can do this kind of shit and get their "rights". Yes we need some "comprehensive immigration reform". How about this:
First revoke this asshole's citizenship and give him a "Saudi Punishment". How about flogging with a twenty foot snake whip? Throw salt on him and dump his ass on the beach in Somalia and warn him he will be shot on sight if he tries to come back.
Second take some of those stupid TSA assholes and use them to conduct investigations of other "immigrants that you incompetent assholes have given citizenship to that come from these countries. Never mind, instead fire all the TSA searchers and use IRS investigators.
Third stop ALL visas and immigration from these countries period.
