Overnight Open Thread-Stunt Blogger Edition [CDR M]
— Open Blogger

Greeting and salutations Moron Nation! CDR M, reporting for duty. With AceCorp on vacation, the call went out for morons to man their battlestations and pitch in to operate the blog and I other morons answered the call. I didn't do this out of the kindness of my heart but under the promise that Ace was going to give me a Unicorn that can poop out Skittles. Somehow, I sense this will be a regift as I'm sure Ace will just send me the one the President has promised to send him which means, I'll never get compensated for my time. But I digress. On with the shenanigans! Oh, and be gentle, it's my first time (well kinda, if you don't count the NFL threads!).

Political Cartoon of the Day

Truthers Rejoice
It would seem we have our first documented case of a building falling over like a lego block building would. The tin foil hat crowd goes wild saying see, that's what should have happened to the WTC buildings. As with Global Warming or Climate Change or whatever they are calling it now crowd, they don't care about how or if it happened, just that it did or they say it did. Facts or science be damned.

Who knew that you should paint in high heels. I wonder if she'll file a workmans comp claim as she was injured during her community service and required a bandaid.

Must Have Golf Club
If you ever end up in the rough, this seems like the must have golf club.

Comical Music Short
This little ditty is for all you Dad's out there.

Meal of the Day
Not for the faint of heart, seriously. I present to you, the 5,826 calorie, 747 gram corn dog. It contains 3 XL hotdogs wrapped in cheese, 18 slices of bacon wrapped in ground beef, lathered in corn meal, deep fried and served in bacon-flavored mayo. At least it's got bacon right?

Monday Night Football Topic
Reebok's uniform contract with the NFL runs out in 2012 and these images are purported to be possible ideas being pushed by Nike. What do you think? I wonder what they'll do with the cheerleader outfits then.

Hate to burst the bubble of joy/hate depending on how you feel of the concepts but Nike has already come out and said that these are nothing more than fan art designed by someone based off the way Nike has done some College uniforms.

And the celebrity pic is busted for me.

Barely.  It was most brutal the closer I got to home.  We're just one street below the top of our hill (which has a grade of 17%), so I took the long, gradual drive to the top street.  It was a single sheet of ice.  So, I had to park on that street and walk about 3 blocks in what can only be described as a blizzard.  Sucks.

We didn't get much.  Maybe 3" on top of the hill.  Problem is the same thing happens every time.  Snow starts early in the morning.  Everyone drives on it all day long.  Then they stop driving on it.  Sun goes down, temperature drops and it's an ice rink on all streets.

Took almost 2.5-hours for a normally 15-20 minutes commute.

I don't have much time tonight. Down here in the southern compound, we have much work to do in preparation for the coming economic collapse.

The Commander's poster of the British Airways uhh, "Effen" attendant made me think of this great tune for coding, writing, and paperwork of all kinds.

Bond themes rule.

I'd also like to thank all the great Open Bloggers who stepped up and saved me the trouble of feeling guilty for not doing so. Also, made it so I can sit back and slam lots of cheap drinks and level unfair criticism at their totally pathetic attempts to blog. Looosers! Shzt, I spilled my drink.

Yeah, I don't like Stucco either. I guess if you have to have painted brick, then white is the way to go. Actually it depends on where you live. In the northeast white is the way to go, I'm not sure how it is in the rest of the country.

I just don't like painted brick and you can't undo it. There is a home near me that was painted white and they powerwashed it down. First off, it didn't get rid of all the white paint, so it looks sloppy. Second, most of the bricks are damaged. Not cracked and broken, but some aren't perfect rectangles anymore, they have rounded edges, etc. it's a mess

I have a grey slate type fire place. I love old fashioned red brick fire places. Why would you change it? Do you have a dark wood mantle? what color is the room?

depending on the size, you can be a large cover made out of wood. it will probably have to be a custom job, that'll set you back a few thousand.

181 OK cadets, tonight's Starfleet history lesson is "How Kirk Got Owned By Hamsters"

We were on our way to drydock and extended leave from Kirk's various clusterfucks and abuse of machinery when some hack who was the Assistant Deputy of the Department of Wheat Storage calls Kirk with a Code One This Is No Shit Emergency Summons. So we warp over to another giant leggo set and the fuckin' Assistant Deputy Cereal Czar and his Deputy Assistant Deputy Wheaties Czar demand that we assign every last Red Shirt because Uberweener was upset that the Klingons were nearby and were after his Lucky Charms

Well, as much as the Federation Hacks fuck up a train wreck, they do accidentally do something right, and on this big corn silo they put in a lounge with a full time bartender. The fucking Klingons happened to be around and were demanding that we call open bar and let them hang out there. Kirk probably figured if he let half of our crew go for Happy Hour, he could call his lawyer girlfriend from his court-martial to do some "discovery". Didn't have to tell me twice, I wanted to go down and drink everything that crawled under the table after 6 months of keeping the warp drive from going supernova after Capt Leadfoot had us half wrecked by the badass satellite and the planet eating turd.

While we're there, I saw some fucking fatass con artist selling Rigelian Glow Water, Charles Johnson Calendars, and a bunch of oversexed hamsters. Well, Uhura just had to have one because chicks are suckers for kittehs and puppies and rabbits and hamsters. She buys one of them without asking if the frigging thing was spayed, and before you know it the little shit has a litter and 5 minutes later the offspring has a litter. McCoy decides to take a look at one of them and finds out they're "practically born pregnant", just like Yeoman Rand

While the hamsters are multiplying like Britney Spears on fertility drugs, we're on the station bar getting on a good buzz when a Klingon dickhead walks up and starts shooting his mouth off. Crikey, those Klingons are big enough assholes when they're sober, and this one is Kennedy level schnockered. Starts saying what a blowhard egotistical fuckup Kirk is. Since I can't say "you don't know the half of it", I have to say "everyone is entitled to his opinion". Then he starts calling the Enterprise a total piece of shit that must have been built by British Leyland. I figured that insulting my ride was reason enough to hit this Klingon asshole so hard he'd have to unbutton his collar to shit.

By the time the starbase bouncers threw us all out and I sobered up, Kirk has us all lined up to chew our asses out about the phone calls he was getting from the Deputy Assistant Cereal Czar. Turns out Kirk wasn't pissed about us getting in a fight, he was pissed that we didn't get in a fight because the Klingons were calling him an idiot and a pussy. He confines me to quarters to figure out how to get the hamsters out of the food processors, the navigation equipment, the phaser banks and the toilet in his quarters.

Meanwhile the Wheaties Hack calls Kirk down to bitch about all the hamsters clogging up his Sainted Storage Lockers. Kirk goes to open one and Spock told me he almost pissed himself trying to keep a straight face while Kirk opens the overhead bin and the next thing you know, it looks like the bottom of his toupee locker gave out and Kirk is up to his ass in toupees ... I mean hamsters. Kirk looks at them and notices they look like the ones on the ship that they had found in Sulu's shower, ie "dead". Kirk doesn't want PETA crawling up his ass to go along with this useless hack too, so he asks Spock and McCoy to find out how they could be dead with a couple days supply of hamster kibbles to nosh on.

Turns out someone fucked around with the grain so it became more useless than Sulu on Argellus II. Cereal Czar is accusing us of fucking with his cereal when a few live hamsters start going apeshit when walking by his butt boy deputy. Turns out that like every other thing that eats, shits, and fucks it can detect that Klingons are assholes. Well, sure did wipe that look off Deputy Hack's face when we arrested his cabana boy.

183 what chemical would you use that wouldn't damage the brick? how would you apply it? and how much does it cost in comparison with powerwashing(which is inexpensive once you own the machine)

Ben, well why not just ordinary paint thinner?  All you'd need is something that is capable of dissolving paint.  Hell, gasoline would probably work.  (Not recommended though.)

From the link I read, it seems that if you don't use a stringent enough paint stripper, you get a white film that remains on the brick.

I think that red brick looks dated.  There are built-in book shelves on either side stained a honey color, with matching hardwood floors.  The room is painted "filtered sunlight," which looks like bright sun hitting a cream-colored wall.  I was thinking of painting the fireplace that same color.  The builder was old school in the choice of brick, but the massive oak crown moulding he put in makes up for it.  I can't imagine what that would cost to do now.

213 Thanks for the tips about the brick.  I bookmarked the link.  I'm thinking about having a tile guy put some tile over it.  The hearth is slate, so I'm not sure what.  I did go to a tile store, but couldn't make a decision.  There was so much different tile, I got overwhelmed.

Don't go with the tile. Some day, despite the best intentions, you'll light the goddamn thing with the damper closed and get smoke up the front -- which is a serious pain in the ass to get out of grout.

We faced our fireplace with granite, and did the hearth as well. It can be far less expensive than you think, provided you're willing to do some of the legwork.

There are stone places, and there are fabricators, and there are counter/kitchen places. A slab of granite roughly 5'x9' can be had for $500 (hints -- avoid the color blue, as that's where you get $2000 slabs). Depending on how fancy you get, fabrication/installation can run you $500-1200. Getting it from a counter/kitchen place will get you another layer of markup from 50-100%. Identify the fabricator, find the stone and buy it, and tell the fabricator where it is (he'll handle all the hauling).

Best part -- when you get smoke up the front of the thing, it'll come off with windex.

216 Hate to burst the bubble of joy/hate depending on how you feel of the concepts but Nike has already come out and said that these are nothing more than fan art designed by someone based off the way Nike has done some College uniforms. Posted by: buzzion at November 22, 2010 09:31 PM Yep, the local sports talk radio show was talking about this last Friday (that they were fake but some of the uniform ideas looked kind of cool). Some of them do look pretty cool. For the Bears uniform, I like the uniform, but I would have went with a different helmet style with the Chicago "C" on one side and the Bear head on the other. I actually like the Bears throwbacks they are wearing this year, except for the plain blue helmet. If I were making new uniforms for the Bears, I would go with the throwback uniforms and then add my idea for the helmet. As far as the others, I like the Arizona Cardinals design the best. They really need to get rid of those uniforms they have now that are mostly white. The all-white helmet with the dumb bird head they have now just is not that great. The fan art design though looks pretty darn cool.

236 Oooh, home remodeling and cooking!

My house in El Paso has a set of windows in the living room that face the back yard, and only a small door from the dining room out to the back.  My goal is to pull up the cement tile out back, replace it with a brick patio to match the house, add a pergola overhead, and then replace the windows in the living room with a set of french doors.  When it's done, I'll be able to walk in the front door, turn right, and look out through a set of french doors to a covered patio in the back yard.

Good tip about the granite fireplace.  My fireplace is a god awful tan tile, so I'll have to look into granite as an alternative.

I second the mention of guys learning to cook.  It isn't that hard to cook well, and pays dividends down the road.  Personally, I love making risotto.  It's easier than most people think, and is a great date dish.

256 Alternatively, if you're facing a fireplace, you could do what we did for the backsplash of our kitchen cooktop -- get a stainless steel plate.

Mind you, it'd be larger than what I was doing, but the same principles would apply.

I got an oversized plate from a local metalworks (note -- they said "how thick?" and I said, "about like this [holding my fingers apart]" -- and I ended up with a plate you could put in the road and drive trucks over). You can then use a standard quarter-sheet hand sander to give it a foggy/misty look (and get rid of flaws/prices/maker's marks). We then drew a pattern on with sharpie and used a steel wire brush driven by electric drill to etch on the pattern (note, sharpie marks were visible in the brushed areas afterward, but we decided to leave them on).

Finally, you wipe off the remaining sharpie marks (it's stainless, use whatever solvent you feel like), and (important and non-obvious) give it a coat of Naval Jelly and buff off ("passivates" the surface). Then you take measurements and have it cut to the exact size desired.

Looks great, indestructible, low-maintenance....what's not to love? And we did most of the "artistic" stuff out on our driveway.

258 265 Ronster, well, muriatic acid is not necessarily dilute

But why would it not be effective on old mortar?

I don't know what definition of muriatic acid you are referring to. I'm talking about the stuff you can buy at Lowes, etc. I've used it to clean brick and galvenized metal to prep for painting and solder application.. Got it on my hands and didn't suffer any damage if I washed it off . Not near the damage I would expect from HCL used in a chemical lab. My guess on why muriatic acid works better on new mortar is that it hasn't totally set up. My brick layer told me to use it the next day or it would lose its effectivness.

Wikipedia: "A high-starch (amylopectin) low-amylose round medium- or short- grain rice is usually used to make risotto. Such rices have the ability to absorb liquids and to release starch and so they are stickier than the long grain varieties. The principal varieties used in Italy are Arborio, Baldo, Carnaroli, Padano, Roma, and Vialone Nano. Carnaroli and Vialone Nano are considered to be the best (and most expensive) varieties, with different users preferring one over the other. They have slightly different properties: for example Carnaroli is less likely to get overcooked than Vialone Nano, but the latter being smaller cooks faster and absorbs condiments better. Other varieties like Roma, Baldo, Ribe and Originario may be used but will not have the creaminess of the traditional dish."

305 ...You all know I love women. No one outside of Casanova or the Federation Union of Fashion Designers takes a more sincere interest in the fairer sex. So you can imagine how freaking pissed off I was when I had to give up not only three stunning pieces of interstellar strange, but the beautiful dream of a pill that could make all women as painfully hot as I am. That stung more than losing those games of Capellan fifteen-card stud to Scotty. I keep forgetting that while engineers can barely speak English, they can count cards. Fucking double-dealing jock in a sporran and a fucking red shirt. Yay, Captain Kirk is gonna be a hero and save the puny stolen spaceship heading dick first into a bugnutting monster asteroid field. Because I have nothing better to do than pretend I'm flying the the USS Highway Fucking Patrol and I'm on a five-year mission to explore strange new cargo holds for undeclared magnetic ore and unlocked bootleg communicators from New China. We pick up four things in our tractor beam: Three white hot superbabes so smoking they burn the deck where they walk, and a balding fat dude with either a mustache or two Arcturan tree chipmunks living up his nose, waving their tails down his nostrils. Oh, and a frelking earring so hopelessly gay it must have come out of Hasbro's "My First Homosexual Encounter Playset." But guess what? Gay Mustache Dude is actually some crank on the lam with a rap sheet as long as my dick, and it ain't just parking tickets. This is hard to believe since he looks less like a dangerous interstellar criminal than Captain Kangaroo's secret gay lover. But rules is rules, so His Baldness goes in the brig and now Scotty tells me that my errand of mercy has cost the ship its entire supply of dilithium. Personally, I think Scotty couldn't tune a carburetor much less a warp drive and he probably just shoveled all the crystals into the hopper while in a panicked hangover. Meanwhile, I have to keep Bones from mauling the babes in sick bay, because he says something is "wrong" when he scans them. R-i-g-h-t. That guy couldn't come up with a decent excuse to corner a woman if his supply of cornpone depended on it. It's too late to cry over spilled Scotch but lucky me, nearby is this miserable dilithium mining planet, Rigel XII, otherwise known as Abandon Poon All Ye Who Enter Here. These miners act like they haven't seen a chick for a century, and while I don't blame them given how atom-smashingly hot Swishy Earring Criminal's babes are, I say only priests or pillow biters would make mining a second career. If you get my drift. Anyway I gotta buy fuel, when these miners see Tubby the Bald's women and decide they would prefer them instead of cold hard Federation cash. Well, Captain Kirk doesn't go around giving women away to anyone, especially ones that give you an erection if you see as little as their shadows. But I am faced with a horrific, soul-wrenching moral choice. Either give up these innocent young women to burly rough forty-niners or take a swan dive at Mach 20 into the atmosphere and make like toilet paper in a plasma torch. I agonize about this for at least a millisecond, and then give the rock haulers the chicks so I can put some fuel back in the fucking tanks. How sharper than a serpent's tooth is an ungrateful grizzled miner who smells like "bath" is a word missing in their vocabulary. First these rock-sucking miners "forget" to beam up the fuel we need, so we're still swirling around the atmospheric toilet bowl like a spaceman's steamer about to meet the fecal disintegrator. And then we get a fucking warranty complaint. That's right, the miners call up whining about how their new wives aren't as supernova sexy as they used to be. I tell them "Hey, caveman, welcome to marriage. I don't recall you filling out a product registration card. Why do you think God invented one-night stands?" So while my entire ship is just about ready to get a massive re-entry rug burn, this freaking miner makes Help Desk Enterprise use our sensors to find his runaway wife, because she took off for a good cry or something, probably because her husband leaves the cap off the ultrasonic toothpaste. We find the lousy woman and I have to admit, she looks rode hard and put up in a pickle jar. Here's the kicker: These chicks take this really cool drug that turns a 2 into an 11, but just like vitamins or Cialis you have to keep taking them. It makes chicks so hot it even sets off Bones's medical scanners. Of course, such a drug is a miraculous boon to mankind, therefore the fucking Federation made it illegal. Your government at work. Well, I gotta make this miner happy and get my fuel or I'm going to have a hell of a time explaining how I lost my ship. I mean, I can pad expense reports but even I couldn't pull off that one. But I have an idea. I just sneak one of these illegal beauty pills out of lockup. I make a big show of letting the woman take the pill and presto, she's beautiful again. I tell everyone that it wasn't really the Venus Drug, but freaking apple jelly. I half-expect these hayseed miners to demand a decade's supply of apple jelly, having seen its miraculous effects, but my Kirk bullshit about "believing you are beautiful makes it so" works just fine. The miners swallow my line like Nurse Chapel swallows post-op estrogen pills, we get our fuel and I take us out of orbit pronto before these shit-kicking ore gobblers find out I pulled a fast one. Even Bones and Spock believed I gave the woman a placebo. Now, Bones is such a bleeding heart I expect him to buy this "you're as beautiful as you feel" bullshit, but I expected more from Spock. On the other hand, maybe Spock really is smarter than he looks. When your boss is fleecing the sheep, you shut up, stand back and admire the haircut. I wonder if I can swap Chapel's estrogen pills with the Venus Drug. I too believe in charity.

334 Actually, scrambled eggs is one of those "De gustibus non disputandum est" things.

Personally, I like: crack two eggs in a smallish teflon pan; add dill, savory, granulated garlic, parsley, and ground pepper; scramble with wooden stick; apply very low heat until almost everything starts to gel; add cheese and scrape eggs into mound with cheese in middle; add dab of butter and crank heat up; get a bit of brown outside and melt cheese. My other half, by contrast, likes fluffy moist plain scrambled eggs, with added milk.

French Toast has to be on the list.  My dad used to make us epic French Toast.  You have to use Challah Bread!

Posted by: runningrn at November 23, 2010 12:00 AM (qY2Vc)

This.  Ultimate french toast is made with challah.  Mmmmm.

-Nothing should be on scrambled eggs.  No sauce, no cheese (that's for omlettes, unless dairy free types).  Only salt and pepper.

Posted by: soulpile is... expendable at November 22, 2010 08:04 PM (afWhQ)

362 Alex, can you recommend a good pasta sauce recipe?

(yes, I get it from a jar)

I generally go for simple.  This one works for me.  The measurements are a rough guess, because I have a bad tendency to eyeball stuff when I'm in the kitchen.

1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 can of tomato puree
1 can tomato paste
2-3 cloves of garlic (roasted is great)
2 tablespoons minced onion
dried basil
salt and pepper
1/4 cup vodka
generous pinch of sugar

cook onion and garlic in a pot with some olive oil, add the rest of the ingredients, cover, and bake at 250 degrees for at least 3 hours.  You could simmer it on the stove, but I preferred to use the oven, and let it slowly cook overnight.

Bobby Flay had it as part of his recipe for brussel sprouts, but he didn't have how to make the molasses. Luckily, Alton Brown did. It doesn't look hard, but I wonder about burning it.

On another Alton show he was burning roux for making gumbo and he solved it by cooking the pot in the oven instead of the stovetop. That might work for this if you need to cook low and slow and are afraid of scorching it.

499 590 #573  Have you driven a Ford lately?

No, but my closest childhood friend is a Ford fanatic.  He was a bit disappointed in me when I bought my Chevy Cavalier, um 9 years ago.  He enjoys talking up how much his wife loves her new Ford Focus and has been steadily nudging me towards thinking about purchasing one of those.

I have a '99 Escort, which runs well enough, and has been reliable, although it's beginning to rust due to lavish road salt.  It has had the usual minor problems, but nothing too serious, and most of the parts are on the cheap side.  Maybe some day I'll be able to afford something newer ...

I was thinking more of agility to avoid the bigger cars that don't see you than raw speed. But it is an issue that if you lose traction, you are so light you just have to enjoy the ride.

617 Time cadets once again for the next history lesson called "How Capt Kirk Got Owned By Pole Dancers"

Kirk loves him some womens when they're winning fights for him with a secret bug zapper or throwing a court-martial to keep him from picking up the soap in a Starfleet brig. Watch one get the better of him, and he fishes the gold velvet wife beater out of the laundry chute. Take the time he got knocked on his ass by a fuckin' fashion accessory.

We're cruising around on the usual highway patrol looking for the latest shipjacker when we spot this really hot piece of machinery. I mean this was a work of art with ion drive, something the Starfleet clusterfuck by committee hasn't tested without turning the test pilots into jello. I'm asking Kirk for me to get a closer work at this fine piece of engineering when whoever is lucky enough to get behind the control stick on this beauty ejects onto the bridge without as much as an excuse me. Now, after how many times we get all sorts of beasties inviting themselves onto our ship, for the first time a completely hot chick in thigh boots and just enough tinfoil to cover her cooter materializes. Kirk and the rest of us figure that Harry Mudd has opened an escort service, but instead of making a beeline for Kirk's raging boner, she presses a button on her Barbie Belt and knocks us out like we've all done shots of Romulan Schnapps.

About an hour later we wake up and pull Sulu's head out of Chekov's crotch and Kirk as usual ask Spock what the fuck just happened, except that Spock is missing like he had to run to the head to take a big green shit. Then McCoy pages Kirk to head for sick bay. We get down there and Spock is wearing some sort of Shriners hat so I figure Bones has lost it and thought now was the time to swear him in as a member. Bones then tells us that Spock's brain wasn't parked in the pan. Shit, I told him that when he dumped our fuel just as we were at escape velocity in the shuttle over Taurus II. Bones says no, his board really is missing the CPU, and he doesn't know for the life of him where the fuck it is.

Now I figure that Bones was drunk and somehow cut Spock open and tossed his noodles in with the appendixes and afterbirth waste and Kirk would have to write him off. But no, Kirk decides that the Playmate of the Month had something to do with it and we're going to hunt her down and find out Spock's grey matter. You ask me, Bones should have laid Kirk down on that table to see if Kirk still had his marbles in the can too.

By chance we trace the exhaust of the ship she rode here on, and Kirk throws a dart to see which planet she could have been on. Kirk's luck again we find the right place but it's a frozen wasteland inhabited by the fuckin' Flintstones. They toss a few rocks at us and a quick flick of the phaser and he's laid out like he just took a helmet to helmet hit. Kirk doesn't see any women around and like he does on every other landing he asks Oog where we can score some strange. Oog first doesn't know what the hell a woman is, and we figure we've landed on a planet of prehistoric Stratego players. But then he gets all freaked out and whines that the women all live down under and are givers of pain.

Well, the next thing we do is find a fucking elevator right there behind Stonehenge, and take the wild ride down to who the hell knows where. When the door opens, another bimbo in thigh highs is waiting to drop us but Kirk for once got the drop on her. After Kirk feels around for her weapon and her brastrap, we go along until we find a big underground Hooters full of chicks dressed in tinfoil pole dancer outfits. After we order some Buffalo Wings and beer, Kirk meets up with Miss February and asks her what the fuck she did with Spock's brain. Well, the chick is dumber than a box of rocks and says "brain and brain, what is brain!" .. shit, turns out these chicks are all Democrats. Well, after we got good and drunk one of the chicks was smart enough to fit us with these WWF souvenir belts and any time we make a move the head Barbie hits a button on her wristwatch that throws a shitload of voltage to our balls.

Well, we figured if we found Spock's brain that we'd have to bring his body along since we didn't have any spare brain containers around the infirmary on the Enterprise. I rigged up some Walkman that McCoy screwed into his noggin so he could move around like Frankenstein. While our balls are being fried into Chicken McNuggets, Kirk manages to work Spock's remote. Took him a few tries because the first time he tried, Spock hopped on one leg and jerked himself off. Finally Spock grabs the Barbie Bracelet and manages to shut off the juice that was nuking us in the balls.

During this time, Spock's voice is talking to us over the PA, and he tells us that these ditzes took his brain to run the complex down here, since they're Democrats and can't change a tampon without a central authority telling them which end to stick it in. He gives us directions to the glass dish holding his marbles, and when we find it Kirk tells the bimbo she'd better shove the brain back between Spock's ears or he was going to beam down every red shirt on the ship to fuck her in the squeakhole in turn.  She says she doesn't know how and by the sound of her, I can't say she knows how to comb her hair without poking herself in the eye. Spock tells us that the hairdryer over in the corner has something to do with giving them some temporary smarts, so Kirk shoves her under the hair dryer and says she's going blonde whether she likes it or not. Well turns out the thing does jack up your IQ about a quintillion times, and it gave her enough smarts to figure out how to use the phaser she had stuffed into her g-string. Kirk figures he's fucked up again when the voice of Spock yells out. "Look honey, Nordstrom's got a sale today!". When she looks, I grab the phaser away from her.

She's gotten smart enough to be a total bitch, so to put Spock's noodles back in the strainer, McCoy sits under it for a minute. He comes out, says any retard could do this operation and he also knew who killed JFK. McCoy hooks Spock back up like he's doing a manicure, when all of a sudden he gets the brain farts and can't even figure out how to tie his shoes. As usual, Spock tells him how to do his own job and without even spending a few days in ICU, Spock hops up and gives us the entire history of the planet like he was playing Jeopardy or something

For all of Kirk's bragging, he was on a planet full of hot chicks who wouldn't know their cooter from their toenails, and he didn't score with any of them

Bellevue is hard ass because they got burned a few years ago when they closed for days even though everyone else was going to school. And then the kids had to go to school until July because it was the year the teachers had their strike too. After that year Bellevue always seemed to be open even if the other schools are closed. Though I think by tomorrow morning theyÂ’ll wise up and close too.

623 I was shootin' the shit with my insurance agent the other day -- she's been here for years, but grew up in Taiwan.

I had been telling her about how impressed we were that the Taiwanese exchange students we hosted could go through 40 centuries of emperors and dynasties.

She came back with experience from her school days -- in order to prepare Taiwanese youth for the eventual reconquest of mainland China, they were expected to memorize rail lines. They'd have tests where you had to get from A to B efficiently by rail -- in mainland China, where they couldn't set foot. This would be like going "NY to Camden, change for the Baltimore line. Take this past Baltimore to Harper's Ferry, and change to the line for Atlanta....."

She says that modern kids in Taiwan don't have to learn this any more.

Our school growing up had a big hardon about cancelling school. Even the year they mandated off time they cancelled spring break. There were ice storms that froze the coal stacks the power company needed to heat stuff. So that summer the school built their own oil fired generator to power the school, in case it happened again.

Very true. But I've only seen them used in extreme situations. And most compact cars will not accept the chains. Not enough clearance.

Most males and a few females would not know how to put on chains.

Where is most of the weight on a front wheel drive? In the front. So how do you get more weight over the drive axle? Put sand bags on the hood? I agree snows and studs are a help, but studs are outlawed in many states.

Posted by: Ronster

I just keep my tank 1/2 full and fill up before storms. (if you mean more weight over non drive wheels. I forgot that most states don't like studs as they tear up them pretty hiways but here it can be a necessity for getting to work.

I'm not clear on what we are disagreeing about here. I thought you said front wheel drive was good because it had more weight over the front axle.

Not a problem with fwd  if you run 4 good snows or snow with studs. Front drive with the weight over the drive wheels is the tits in snow.

So I said how do you get more weight over the drive wheels? Sand bags on the hood? Doesn't matter. A high clearance vehicle with mucho weight will get you through most situations if you have some experience.

yeseree whether it's knees in the snow with frozen fingers or wanting horny female with little patience..

Back to tire chains I also keep a pair of the made for smaller cars wire roller chains. they are fairly simple to install even with frozen hands and freezing knees. They are cable with like roller spings over the cable for the tread area. The rollers roll on the cable and work very well ceptin you can't go much over 35 or you'll shake the car apart.

The bug did have a clearance issue and when the snow was on the wet side it would pile up under the pan. Twice I had problems one was trying to jump a pile of snow the plow left at the end of the road, the road goes on they jutst don't plow from there on. Anyway didn't make it over and was teetering on the top till someone came to help push me over. second one i bottomed out from wet snow and blew the engine trying to get off.  Your bigrig clearance would'a come in handy there...

Diesel had no balls great for mileage sucked everywhere else.

Nothing can ever replace the precious little life you've lost, but another pet can become a dear friend to share your love and your life.
