Overnight Open Thread - Kosher Edition
— Maetenloch

ערב טוב כל and welcome to the ONTKosher-symbol_sm.png. Sorry no baconz tonight.

So Which Religions Have The Money?

Here's an interesting little graph showing the income distribution of all major religions in the US. So who has the richest members? Well it's probably not too surprising that the Jews have the highest percentage of members making over $100K (46%). So who comes in second? The Hindus at 43%. Okay that's a surprise.

Maybe it's time for people to update their conspiracy theories: the Juice are now using the Hindus as online muscle against the Baptists. And if you're looking for wealth but aren't willing to give up bacon, I suggest you start praying to Lakshmi.

Jimmy Carter Wants Hamas Removed From the Terror List
Of course he does. Sure they were founded as a terrorist group, operate as one, and have their own artillery and rockets which they fire at civilians. But they kill mostly just Jews so apparently no biggie. I guess his appology to the Jews back in December was just a stunt to help his grandson's candidacy.

Obama and the Jacksonian Zionists
Walter Russell Mead discusses why American Protestants support Israel so strongly and why they're a better protector than secular Jews. And given Obama's animosity towards Israel, Israel will probably need this protection sooner than they think.

The Somali Pirates' Business Model
It's BYOAK47 but if you want to handle the RPG and be first on board, you can really make out.

Will You Survive the Zombie Apocalypse?
A helpful flowchart. And in the event of a real zombie outbreak I say forget Lakshmi and go Mormon - they seem pretty prepared. Thanks to IlltempuredCur.

15 Lies Men tell Their Girlfriends (or Wives or Both)
Okay “You look great in anything!” is technically a lie, but this is a case where the truth is simply unacceptable.

Cool Tool: The MagnoGrip
Holds nails, screws, blades, etc. on your wrist. No more losing things while you're trying to reassemble grandma's ventilator.

Well at least you won't get carpal tunnel from typing.

I think the thing that throws Carter, regarding Hamas, is that the guys at Hamas don't wear T-shirts that say "I am a terrorist.  Really. Seriously."

OK, you got me. If they really did have T-shirts like that, it wouldn't change a damn thing.

Hey - this is Obamaworld.  Barry's close associates with marxists his whole life, practically everything he says and has ever done is consistent with marxist ideology, but if you suggest, "Hey, that Obama guy seems like a marxist" they say "You're racist".  The guy even used Soviet-style propaganda posters, just to make it obvious!  He ran on the ticket of an officially socialist party, back in IL!!  He has a f-ing PAY CZAR, for cryin' out loud!!!

But the bottom line is, "Obama CAN'T be socialist, simply because he SAYS he's not socialist."  It's just one of many fantastical things he says, that so many people choose to believe simply because he said it.  So, hey, maybe it's just that Hamas can't be a bunch of terrorists because Obama SAYS they're not.

117 I clicked on the Jacksonian Zionists link out of curiosity.  It was a quick glancing look.  Is the author is equating Andrew Jackson with conservatives or something?  That would be odd since Jackson was very much a democrat.  I followed their link to the "Jacksonian Tradition" for a definition to see what that was all about and it sounds like it was written by a moonbat liberal.  OK, I just Googled the "Jacksonian Tradition" guy's name and he's some big time foreign policy expert or something.  So, I must be mistaken.

151 I get the impression that there is a distinct difference between those who see themselves as religious/traditional Jews, and those who see themselves as simply racial Jews.

The only Jewish person I knew who was political conservative was also a religious conservative. She considered herself "conservadox" which wasn't quite orthodox but wasn't reform, either. She kept kosher, took part in all religious holidays and the sabbath every week. The older she got, the more religious she became and I think she stopped being friends with me because I'm a gentile.

153 For more than thirty years now I've been among Jews and I still can't understand why a single one of them supports the Democrats. Every single Democrat policy is harmful to them -- they're too white for all the racial-grievance policies, they're (as the above graph indicates) too affluent for the poverty programs, and their chief foreign-policy concern, helping Israel, is one the Democrats actually work against. Meanwhile they are taxed, taxed again, vilified, and excluded from jobs and schools by "diversity" quotas.

Do the Democrats have incriminating photos of Moses or something?

Yet they still pander to blacks, hispanics, and muslims, all who turn around and blame their problems on the Jews

They support Barry through his outward disdain of Israel, yet consider the conservatives who support Israel as their enemy

I always wondered how so many people could be led to their deaths in occupied Europe. I think I'm getting a clue how.

This guy is a serious control freak. One of my coworkers told me she had been tasked something by him and one of the other partners. The other partner needed his thing done ASAP. Boss man said no, what he wanted had to be done first. She told him the other partner wanted his thing done ASAP. Boss man yelled that HE was the boss of the LA office, not the other partner and that she would do what HE said, not what the other partner told her. She pointed out the other partner's name is also on the letter head (and the first name listed, to wit) and the boss said he didn't care, it was HIS office and HE ruled.

213 I always wondered how so many people could be led to their deaths in occupied Europe. I think I'm getting a clue how.

Through research and anecdotes, I learned that a lot of Jews in Europe at the time completely denied such a thing could happen. Times were civilized and no one could ever do such a thing. And even when neighbors never came back, they believed the lies they were told.

Bill Handel's dad was a Holocaust survivor. Handel tells his dad's story every so often. Essentially, his father's parents thought their connections would protect them. Handel's father kept urging his family to leave because he saw what was happening. They refused, denying that anything bad would happen. He left for Brazil and never saw his family again.

He hates Jews.

Many of their parents won't even talk about the 'mistake'.

They just repeat the same mantra when pressed. "Never Again, Never.".

218 Ah yes, Friday's the days when the administration releases bad news and when they figure it's safe to take Slow Joe's muzzle off;

Biden: People are skeptical of what weÂ’re doing because of Â… Bush

VPOTUS blamed the George W. Bush administration for any unpopularity the current administration has suffered.

“We inherited a cynical republic, and I can’t blame them,” he said.

“Eight years of collapse, eight years of being misled about wars.”

He cast the Republican political strategy since last January as irresponsible cynicism., and boasted that the recent passage of health care reform might dispel it.

“They [Republicans] still believe cynicism will prevail, that the government can’t do anything, that we’re a bunch of socialists – all these things you hear. I think the healthcare debate put a big stake in the heart of that argument.”

I was serious about the self employed route.  I bet you could start a nice little business by specializing in graffiti removal.  You see potential customers every day.  $50 or a $100 bucks to paint over or dissolve and clean a little spray paint on a wall, several times a day and you could get by till something better comes along.  I am sure the moronosphere would have a few better ideas.

Here in Cincinnati, and I suspect elsewhere, we actually have people who are paid to pick up dogshit in lawns.  There slogan is "Got Poop?".

I'm not suggesting you go into that business.  What I am saying most every service job is doing what someone else is to lazy to do themselves.  Figure out what fits you best.

279 71 So, several guys have told me that Inglorious Basterds is a good movie.  I remain skeptical, assuming it to be Tarantino crap of the worst sort.  Any thoughts from the moronosphere?
Posted by: Reactionary at March 26, 2010 10:17 PM (4nbyM)

It's Tarantino crap of the worst sort. The movie's a good hour longer than it needs to be because the self-indulgent prick takes scenes that should last only a couple of minutes and drags them out to fucking infinity with endless pregnant pauses and reaction shots and subtitled patter about stuff that doesn't make a damn bit of difference to the plot, except to let Tarantino show off his knowledge of prewar German cinema. Wanna hear more smug references to UFA and G.W. Pabst than you ever thought you could stomach? Rent Inglourious Basterds. I even hate the ending, since I really don't know exactly what kind of satisfaction we're supposed to be getting from Tarantino's sophomoric disposal of Hitler as opposed to what actually did happen to him in real life.

Watch Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction again instead, since Tarantino hasn't learned to do anything beyond what he was making fifteen years ago. Or just watch this; it's much funnier.

I don't know.  Most of the successful buisnessmen in my grandfather and father's generation are.  But they rarely cop to it.

The problem is that Liberalism is born from empathy and tolerance.  Both factor heavily in Judaism. Culturaly and religiously.

It's a tough nut to crack because the ideals of social liberal policy seem great to just about everyone...the problem is in the sausage making.

Most people just feel that if 'Fair' is good.  'More Fair' must be better.

They don't understand that Fair is as good as it gets.

Per Isamov, that was when Blacks left the Republican Party and have been with the Dems ever since. Its been a long time since I read it, so don't trust my memory.

The Coens compensate for that by limited LaBoeufÂ’s screentime. While heÂ’s there for almost the entire ride in the 69Â’ version, he wanders in and out of the story here. Their goal seems to be to deepen and strengthen the relationship between Rooster and Mattie by leaving them alone in the wilderness together, even more than they were in the original film, and it works.

It doesn't say who is cast as Mattie, if they put some flavor of the month bimbo in it, the movie will be shit.

476 454 Rum, I read a non scifi book by Isaac Asimov a while back on history.  Blacks were affiliated with the Republicans after the civil war.  A segregated black troop was accused a riot in Brownsville Texas.  A trial was held and many of the black soldiers were found guilty.  An appeal for clemency to Grover Cleveland, I think< was ignored and the men were hanged.  The appeal was supposedly ignored for political reasons relating to the election of Teddy Roosevelt. Per Isamov, that was when Blacks left the Republican Party and have been with the Dems ever since. Its been a long time since I read it, so don't trust my memory.

Posted by: Ohio Dan at March 27, 2010 12:32 AM (rurh0)

You must be remembering what Asimov wrote incorrectly, or he was totally full of shit -- because that doesn't make any sense. There were almost eight years between the end of Cleveland's second term and T. Roosevelt's first election as president (with McKinley elected twice in the interim). Blacks were still a solid Republican constituency under TR and remained so for years afterward; the first chink in that came with FDR and the first Everybody Gets Free Stuff Presidency, and the dam broke with civil rights legislation in the 60s (which the Dems couldn't get passed without Republican help). That was really the point at which the GOP lost blacks.

The man made a huge statement when he took to the floor before the passage of Crap & Tax and began to read, almost page for page, the hidden regulations, taxes, and b.s. contained in the bill. He was up there for quite a while, and even though he ultimately couldn't stop the House from approving the disaster, it sent a loud message that he wasn't going to allow his caucus/this country to be steamrolled into statism.

So, what you're saying is,  when you turn on Rush, Beck or Hannity or any other conservative pundit on the a.m. dial just to listen to them talk, you're doing it because you have a little sugar in your blood and you're light in your loafers?

Rush is only popular due to Right Wing  latent homosexual tendencies.

Just like Mr. Bush.

Now Barack, he embraces his gayness...great man.  He'll usher in a new America where Sharia is Law and Goats are plentiful and free of fleas!

And all the guys looked like they hadnÂ’t bathed in a week.

Posted by: Rat Patrol at March 26, 2010 11:09 PM (dQdrY)

788    As for the cheap eats mentioned earlier, I go with whole grain pasta (shells), shredded cheddar, a splash of olive oil, granulated garlic, oregano, parsley, and a can of tuna. Maybe $1.25.

For a little more, boneless skinless chicken breast sauteed in olive oil,  granulated garlic, oregano, parsley, and a splash of Real Lemon or lemon pepper. Served with good bread. $2.50?  Natures Own honey 7 grain. Good bread is worth a few extra nickels. That kind is so good you can eat it plain with nuffin. $2.50? (Olive oil is an acquired taste. It may take you a couple or six times to get past the bitter and really enjoy it).

Consider a membership in a nearby wholesale club. These are well worth it if they are close. Good bread and wholesale priced spices and cheese are the key. Pasta is real cheap.

 Character of the Happy Warrior

Who is the happy Warrior? Who is he
Whom every Man in arms should wish to be?
--It is the generous Spirit, who, when brought
Among the tasks of real life, hath wrought
Upon the plan that pleased his childish thought:
Whose high endeavours are an inward light
That make the path before him always bright:
Who, with a natural instinct to discern
What knowledge can perform, is diligent to learn;
Abides by this resolve, and stops not there,
But makes his moral being his prime care;
Who, doom'd to go in company with Pain,
And Fear, and Bloodshed, miserable train!
Turns his necessity to glorious gain;

Once inside, when people found out why you were there, you'd have probably 30 or more drunks wanting to be in the moron "club" too, and wanting to buy all the ladies a drank...then there'd be a fight, probably some hugging, barfing, and everyone would stagger out.

Isn't that what they call a wedding reception in GA?

bear,

I also grew up hearing "the best part of you ended up in the crack of your mama's ass," and "I guess your daddy couldn't get a good toe hold."

835 791 There's a chill wind blowing with all you racist, teabaggers stirring things up over healthcare... even poor innocent little dogs recognize it, and are running scared.

Tim, I know that things are a little rough since Susan tossed you out, but you're a big boy now and you can close your own tent flap

Usually a new wave of hilarious insults start in any area where a Marine has just come home on his first leave after basic training. DI's might have been sadists, but they put any standup comic to shame

837 We don't have no plastic L.A. Frynds,
ain't on the edge of no popular trend.
Ain't never seen the inside of that magazine GQ.
We don't care if you 're a lawyer, or a texas oil man,
or some waitress busting ass in some liquor stand.
If you got Soul
We hang out with people just like you

My hair's turning white,
my neck's always been red,
my collar's still blue,
we've always been here
just trying to sing the truth to you.
Yes you could say
we've always been,
Red, White, and Blue

(Skynyrd. Red, White and Blue.)

841 The chart is a waste of time. It lumps all Juice as one and divides Christians into many. All Juice are not one; that's why we have Reform, Orthodox, and all kindsa Juice.
