— Maetenloch Mel Gibson: Jackass

Well the rumored tapes of Mel cursing and ranting at his former girlfriend and baby momma, Oksana Grigorieva, have finally been released. Here's one where he complains about her fake breasts (NSFW):
And supposedly in another one he admits to hitting her twice while she was holding their baby daughter. Meanwhile his longtime agents at William Morris have dropped him.
Mel's built up a lot of goodwill over the years and I always figured his main problem was alcohol. But here he seems sober and way too comfortable with racial slurs and threats so maybe he's just an asshole.
Newsweek: No Rightwing Nutjob Bidders Please
Even though Newsweek is near bankruptcy and desperately seeking a buyer to rescue them, the current owner, the Washington Post Company, has told several conservative potential buyers not to even bother bidding because they're ideologically unacceptable. But of course they still describe themselves as apolitical. Die faster, please.

The EU Court of Human Rights To Rule Whether US Prisons Violate Human Rights
Abu Hamza al-Masri is wanted in the US on terrorism charges, but he's currently in a British prison on other charges. The British want to extradite him to the US but he's fighting it and has taken his case to the EU court. He claims that the conditions in US prisons would violate his human rights. If the court rules in his favor, then the war on terror is essentially lost in Europe since any terrorist there will be perpetually beyond the US's reach.

A 30 year old British nanny has died from solo sexual arousal:
Nicola Paginton, 30, a children's nanny, was found dead in bed last October with a vibrator by her side and an erotic movie playing on her laptop.A Home Office pathologist told the inquest in Gloucester that Miss Paginton died from a sudden heart arrhythmia, probably brought on by her state of arousal.

Made the mistake of stepping into Chick fil A on a "dress in a cow costume and get free food day" so the place was crawling with yuppie spawn.
While I ate my luch (the spicy chicken is pretty good) I saw something I found rather disturbing. A girl, perhaps 9 or 10 at the most is not wearing a cow costume but rather a t-shirt that says "my taco sparkles". http://tinyurl.com/yfbem4z

Her melanoma spread to her lungs a few years ago, and she had every single treatment and surgery known to man, thanks to D'oh's cousin sitting on the board of the foundation.
They e-mailed last night the tumors have returned, and have accepted she's dying.
I'm heartsick for her, their sons, and our cousin. However, she's outlived everyone who's had her condition. And unfortunately for the rest of us, she and cousin voted for The One and his health care czar.

So I wear a boonie hat. Probably doesn't help quell the goober look to the rest of the world but it does for me.
My husband wears a fedora. Not like the teenage boys wear, but an "Indiana Jones" hat. He's bald. Everybody knows it and he doesn't care. He wears a hat because the hot is hotter, rain is wetter and flies are more annoying without hair to cushion his head.

I once worked w/ a guy who had his hair parted just over one ear, with three stringy bands of hair over the top.. One summer day, with the bay doors at both ends of the shop open, a strong gust of wind from the coming storm blew thru the shop and caught his comb-over and flipped it.
The hair hung down to his collar. He ducked quickly and was trying to fix it "before any body noticed he didn't have any hair." I walked over to him and told him to ruck up and cut that nasty shit off - Bald's won.

Seems like lots of folks here are anxious as hell to minimize this guys actions just because they thought he was on their team in terms of religion and culture vs. the Hollywood norm. Would things go better for him if he espoused the typical Hollywood liberal beliefs - yes. But that doesn't change what he has done.

I will say I am more sympathetic to Goodfellas than you are. It's a more realistic picture of the mafia. It's not just a question of them being set in different times. In the 1950s, in the mafia, everybody and their dog cheated on their wives. They were just as greedy as the 80s. They had just as horrible family lives. Goodfellas showed all of that and the Godfather trilogy touched on it, but downplayed it in a lot of ways. (And, yeah, Godfather 2 is still in my top 5 movies.)

That's usually how it is in combat, particularly jungle combat. It can take hundreds of rounds (when you include the direct and suppressive fire) to make even one kill. I saw a statistic once that it could take up to 50,000 rounds to make a kill during Vietnam! I didn't believe it.

I don't know if that's the right number but it was something rediculously high like that and it was true. There was alot of spray and pray in Vietnam. So much that the M16 was changed from being able to fire a whole clip to just 3 round bursts.
Posted by: robtr at July 09, 2010 07:13 PM (fwSHf)
I believe it. The goal of suppressive fire isn't really to kill anyone. You're just supposed to keep them in one place and on their bellies while you line up artillery and air strikes.

If it's not depicting WWII, few people in a Spielberg movie handle guns well. The example that comes foremost to mind is The Lost World, where the heavily armed mercenary team didn't even kill one farking dinosaur. Yet the kid, using nothing but acrobatically-generated momentum, can push a raptor out of a window.

On Wednesday, my father had a PET scan to determine the outcome of radiation and 3 rounds of chemo. The results were not reported until this morning. Being German, and also a drama queen, I automatically feared the worst, but instead the results are blessedly mixed-- some of the cancerous growth has been stopped, but other areas have spread. As I was terrified that the verdict was going to be "Well, that was fun and all, but there's really nothing more we can do," I'll take it. The oncologist has opted for a fourth round of chemo, which began today. As my immediate family is new to cancer treatment, I'm not sure what that means for the long run, but we continue to hope for the best.
Dad gained three pounds but continues to battle hair loss, fatigue, and the other usual side effects of chemotherapy, including what Mystry's first grandchild cheerfully refers to as "fast poop." I am coming home this month for three weeks, at which time I hope to help my mother and sister with his care.
Once again, I thank you for making this easier to bear for all of us.

Amen. Shaving my head full bald was one of the best decisions I've made. It didn't fix my ugliness, but by making me look more threatening/rugged it was more help than hurt. Nothing looks worse than a comb over, and few men can make the partial-hair-on-the-side thing work.
The head sunburn remains a constant threat, but thin hair is no better protection than bare skin.

As much as I hate Tim Robbins as a person, I have to admit he did a great job in that movie. Cruise, on the other hand, was his normal crappy self. That guy is a perfect example of someone who can have no talent and yet become famous through the right series of roles.

The Obama-Pelosi Lame Duck Strategy
Union 'card-check,' cap and trade, and so much more.
The rush to recess gives Democrats little time to pass any major laws. That's why there have been signs in recent weeks that party leaders are planning an ambitious, lame-duck session to muscle through bills in December they don't want to defend before November. Retiring or defeated members of Congress would then be able to vote for sweeping legislation without any fear of voter retaliation.

I had started having sex with my boyfriend and the sex and the emotions didnÂ’t feel enough. I was no longer a little girl. In a moment of wanting to feel closer to my boyfriend I grabbed a knife and cut him. He cut me back. We had an exchange of something and we were covered in blood, my heart was racing. Then whenever I felt trapped, IÂ’d cut myself. I have a lot of scars. It was an age when I felt adventurous and after a few beers things happened.

Scientists develop 'fake' genetically-engineered blood for use on the battlefield
American scientists have developed 'artificial' blood that could soon be used to treat wounded soldiers in battle.
The genetically-engineered blood is created by taking cells from umbilical cords and using a machine to mimic the way bone marrow works to produce mass quantities of usable units of red blood cells.

Funny thing about every motorsport that requires tires (boats and whatnot excluded) is that the problem is not making power but getting it to the ground. Tires are always the weak link. Getting better traction is always more of a concern than making horsepower.

Humpty Dumpty got lost in a fog.
Humpty Dumpty's psycho ex- screamed something about making an omelet ...
But what exactly ...
my memory needs a jog.

Arcing over Zhejiang's provincial capital Hangzhou, the UFO appeared to glow with an eerie white light and left a bright trail in its wake.
Xiaoshan Airport was closed after the UFO was detected at around 9 pm and dozens of flights had to be diverted.

Mel has had emotional problems ever since he woke up one night in his farm and discovered the Star of David in his cornfield.
And then his son went out and killed his dog with a fork. Yes, a fork.

Looking over the menu, he said, "Waiter, I'll have the steak, rare, with a side of mushrooms and onions."
"But sir," said the shocked waiter, "what about the mad cow?"
"Well," said the man, "It's her anniversary too. She can order what ever she wants!"

Likable and sympathetic on screen, flaming asshole and angry drooling idiot in real life.
Being a good actor doesn't mean you're smart or clever or nice - it just means you're a really good liar.

Yes, he is just an actor but when actors go into hard into liberal politics, or as in this case, asshattery I don't have to support them either.

Haley probably has a lock on governor but Mulvaney is not a sure thing at all. Ordinarily beating out John Spratt would be next to impossible as this is a gerrymandered Dem district (I know because I am in that district). But there is a chance this year because the Dems are in trouble everywhere.
What worries me is that by coming here and campaigning Gingrich is building future credits should he decide to run in 2012. His day on the sun is over and sitting on that couch with Pelosi and hawking the AGW fraud forever killed him in my eyes.
Supporting that AGW fraud is very close to a make or break issue with me.

Of course it means we need more gun laws though.

The gasoline tax doesn't work that way. It is one of the few that is a set fixed amount regardless of the price of the product. This is what the politicians don't like.
What's more, their collections actually decrease as higher CAFE standards take effect. That is why they have a push on now to tax people based on miles driven. Of course in the States where they are pushing that the miles driven part is "in addition to" instead of a replacement.

705 His portrayal of Hamlet was probably the best acting ever, with the exception of his court appearances.
The scene with Glen Close is ludacris and unforgivable.
If it be,Why seems it so particular with thee?
Seems, madam! nay it is; I know not 'seems.'
'Tis not alone my inky cloak, good mother,
Nor customary suits of solemn black,
Nor windy suspiration of forced breath,
No, nor the fruitful river in the eye,
Nor the dejected 'havior of the visage,
Together with all forms, moods, shapes of grief,
That can denote me truly: these indeed seem,
For they are actions that a man might play:
But I have that within which passeth show;
But first myself you will blow.

Not necessarily. I'm not at all ashamed of being bald, but I often wear a hat for two good reasons:
The top of your head get sunburned easily, which is unpleasant.
If it's raining, the water rolls right down your forehead and into your eyes, which is also unpleasant.
