Plus Gallup now finds that 42% of Americans describe themselves as conservative versus 35% as moderate and 20% as liberal. So we've got numbers and enthusiasm on our side. Lets just hope that the GOP doesn't discover a new way to screw things up.

I have noticed that if, among 30-something colleagues, I mention one of my own school or college summer jobs — factory or construction work, dishwashing, retail sales, bartending — my colleagues will look amused, and a bit baffled. How come a guy as well-educated as Derb was shoveling concrete? Boy, he’s a real eccentric! No, I’m not. Those experiences were perfectly normal for a person of my generation. They’re just not normal any more, not for children of the American middle and upper classes.
I grew up in a perfectly respectable middle-class household yet I still worked as a busboy, a stocker in a warehouse, a trash hauler, and on a blasting crew before I graduated from college. And I didn't feel embarrassed or beneath my station for doing these jobs. And yeah some of them sucked - enough to keep me grateful to this day that I get to work in air conditioning, have a minimal chance of injury, and aren't being yelled at daily by carny-rejects.
So if you've haven't worked at least a few months at a dead-end job based mostly on physical labor and scut work, you're still a labor-virgin. And sadly we probably now have our first labor-virgin president.

For almost four years in my early '20s I delivered newspapers for a living. Four years of getting up at 2 a.m. every morning to haul bundles around and meet an unforgiving schedule along a very circuitous route, 365 days a year and under all conditions (hurricane bearing down within hours? Tough; I had to bust my ass to finish deliveries first.) It was a pretty lucrative business (back before the great circulation collapse, anyway; I have doubts as to how viable it would be now), but since I was an independent contractor I had to fight for every quarter I made, provide my own transportation, worry about all my own expenses, conduct all my own weekly billing, make my own weekly tallies, and file all the police reports and take all the losses when I was ripped off (something that was not infrequent). If anything ever wasn't completed correctly or on time it was my ass and no one else's.
It was a miserable job characterized by endless nights of heavy lifting and endless days of bureaucratic bullshit coordinating with the publisher. And frankly it was a shit newspaper. But running what was in effect a one-man business, selling a product people wanted (for some damn reason) sure made me appreciate what working really is. Thanks to TV sitcoms of the last 15 years everyone's gotten the idea that "work" is hanging around an office not really doing anything in particular, and that the blue-collar jobs that actually keep society running are natural objects of scorn and ridicule. (That story from a few months ago about the recent college grad who, with the blessing of his doting parents, turned down a $50,000-a-year office job offered him right out of school because it "didn't feel right" or some horseshit like that had me seeing blood-red.)

Let me tell you, I'd have recruited several of those machines as subcontractors if I'd known about them.
But for me, machines were things that were often broken into and money stolen from. And I couldn't be all over the city at once all the time, so it was a constant battle trying to stay ahead of the thieves. I lost a lot of money that way. But I also kept on those motherfuckers until at least one of them ended up in prison. One of the most satisfying letters I ever received was a notice from the clerk of court that some bottom-feeding asshole who had been knocking over my newspaper racks all over town had been found, tried, convicted, and sent up for three years at hard labor.

I'd add that most, not all, but most, of hard blue-collar jobs require much more intelligence than office jobs. You have to pick up on a dime on how to handle new machinery and do new tasks. If you don't, you often will be fired without warning. And you have to be not only strong, but physically fit and capable of working fast constantly without getting confused. It isn't easy at all.
Office jobs--you pretty much have to know MSWord and have a nice phone voice. Yeah, there are a few like programmers and engineers that require brains, but they are a distinct minority.
Also, any white-collar job that does require smarts has months or years of training. In blue-collar jobs, your training consists of some guy who got hired three days ago showing you one time what to do and then expecting you to be proficient. You get trained for things like forklift, but nowhere near as long as the training in white-collar jobs.
Labor virgins, in short, are retarded, slow, weak sissies.

I'd sweat through my work shirts and get them back the laundry with the yellow stains still in the shirt. Destroyed ring finger on my left hand with a mallet while pounding freeze plugs into the heads but won cred with the guys who worked there by taking a drill bit and drilling through the nail and then going back to work. I'd go home at the end of the day and take a shower and the water running off of me would be black from the cast iron dust. I'd blow my nose and it would be black from the dust. Got along great with the guys I worked with though. They always asked me about school and how I was doing. Gave me great motivation to do well and it carried me through law school and the bar.

That's true to an extent, but a lot of it can also be chalked up to kids simply being spoiled brats who have no concept of what it is to earn what you have and to pull your own weight.
Even if there's few "job" jobs available for teens these days, that's no reason why they can't have their asses kicked out of bed every Saturday morning to mow the lawn, sweep out the garage and driveway, clean out gutters, and do general work around the house. That's what I had to do growing up, to earn my weekly allowance.
And I don't even blame the kids, necessarily. A lot of good kids are growing up in an entitlement-society that's giving them a very skewed idea of how life works. And the older such kids are when reality hits them, the harder it is for them to adapt. Some older kids never do adapt to the real world; we call them "congressmen".

Even if there's few "job" jobs available for teens these days, that's no reason why they can't have their asses kicked out of bed every Saturday morning to mow the lawn, sweep out the garage and driveway, clean out gutters, and do general work around the house. That's what I had to do growing up, to earn my weekly allowance.
And I don't even blame the kids, necessarily. A lot of good kids are growing up in an entitlement-society that's giving them a very skewed idea of how life works. And the older such kids are when reality hits them, the harder it is for them to adapt. Some older kids never do adapt to the real world; we call them "congressmen".

Just doing too many things at once. It makes a lot more sense now. And I didn't start any serious drinking until I joined the Army. I actually moved out of Boulder at the first opportunity. Thornton was quieter, cleaner, and a hell of a lot cheaper.

I grew up in a perfectly respectable middle-class household yet I still worked as a busboy, a stocker in a warehouse, a trash hauler, and on a blasting crew before I graduated from college. And I didn't feel embarrassed or beneath my station for doing these jobs.

It's about rolling back Obumble policy(and Bush, Clinton), and somehow, someway, retaining the American dream/ way. Anything less and we slide toward Euro socialism, and as I've said since 04, a slow (or not so slow) decline.
Lesser of two evils won't work come 2012. We need a true believer, salesman, debater....an honest man (politically speaking).

Oh, and on the job front I've worked in a warehouse, done landscaping and been a dishwasher --as well as doing clean-up of trash at a hospital (as a temp).

The worst job I ever had was on a dredging barge in Trinity Bay in Anahuac in East Texas for Brown and Root with about a dozen Cajuns. It was summer, and about 105 degrees with 100% humidity.
We would get waist deep in the mucky mud rolling pipe, being eaten alive by huge mosquitos and a couple of times a day, an alligator would chase us sweating mudballs back onto the barge.
I was covered with mud and greasy diesel and had to literally scrape it off back on shore with a stick.
Going back to throwing chain on a drilling rig as a roughneck was like going to Hawaii, after that shit.

Evening folks.. What a fun night I have already had. A balloonist buddy called me to go for a flight out of middletown, a burb North of me. Crappy landing on his part but at least I didn't bite the end of my tongue off. Switch out so a young lady he wanted to impress cold fly a bit. He landed at a local (Warren Cty) airport, which is a little unusual for a balloonist. Went back to my house grilled some mets, drank a little and took a dip in the pool. Great way to end the day.

I'm going with the theory that whoever pisses off the left the most is the best candidate. In this case, Sarah Palin. If she can get a good team together she could win. I'm certain that 1) tons of people disagree and 2) tons of people agree.
And that's why. She's the polar opposite of the Shanker In Chief. A Palin/Bachmann ticket would wake people up and pick sides. It'd be a gut check for every American.

It's incredibly beautiful. Utah Valley has a huge fresh water lake, mountains everywhere, and lots of trout streams and even some waterfalls. We stopped by Sundance last week before I headed back to Cali for more house prep and I just stood in awe of the running water. It's so darned dry down here where we are in SoCal that simple things like streams and ponds kind of leave me dazed.
I haven't seen Big Love (no HBO or whatever) but my godmother swears by it. I gather it is fun? I'm so behind. I just discovered that Desperate Housewives is actually a fun show.

Actually, Mexican Hat in southern UT, population 88, has been on my 'bucket list' for a couple of decades. Mr. Y-not did a radiation physics internship in Four Corners and Mexican Hat was one of the places. He had great stories from that summer. At the time the town had a population of 54, I think, and one restaurant that served a total of six menu items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The famous thing was called a cowboy beef sandwich which was truly monumental.

I was playing itnes, minding my own business, when I wanted to update the Levin podcast. Well, it replied quickly without "looking" for the new file, so I did what usually works: closed, then re-started itunes. Well, an error message tells me I can;t do so because for some reason files are missing. Well, I then go to itunes.com to re-download. After downloading, an option comes up for repairing/replacing files. Perfect. So I do it, restart the program, and it's in fucking Chinese.
So, can anyone tell me where, by location, number of options, and such, I can get to the menu to change the language? I need it that way since all I have is Asiatic ideograms. . . .

.. I think I heard something on other blogs that the right-wing is out there stepping up posts on the blogs, leading up to the election.
So, I'm expecting an increasing noise to signal ratio. Assuming that they're in a parallel reality, they'll be a bit short on substantiation, with no links, or links to no-name websites and so forth.
The past practice has been to go with "moron" mode, with "freedom fries", or "death panels". I'm expecting some more "moron" mode antics.
I expect an October Blitzkrieg, along with something in the corporate media that they'll hope won't be debunked by the elections.
If I was planning their strategy, that would be the plan.

Just not true. We all prioritize our preferred candidates. I personally like Palin and what she represents as a conservative woman and mother. And I do want her to continue to be the rainmaker she clearly is. RNC Chair would be a great fit for her. And she's young. Let her get her political chops and then talk POTUS maybe in 2016 or beyond.

Outside of history and technical books, I have problems with big fat books.
I did force myself to read "War and Peace" once, during a blizzard in Ponca City, when I gor snowed in. I never was able to get through "The Stand", and I have made about a dozen attempts to get through "Atlas Shrugged" but the sheer shittiness of the writing stopped me dead.
I have had no trouble reading Saul Bellows' longer books, because of his incredible prose skills. Stephen King is a good stylist, but after "The Shining", I think his writing fell off a cliff. And Ayn Rand would be better in Russian, I believe.

It's possible. I'm guessing some younger, more exciting, "new democrat" would emerge during a hypothetical Palin (or whoever else) presidency and knock the old maid off.
I think her best bet is to give up Sec State a few months into 2011, lay low, hope for an Ostumble loss, hope for a poor gop pres performance in 13 thru 17, and run as the old experienced, return to normalcy candidate. A long shot to be sure, but her only play.

I disagree. With everything that was going on, Obama only managed a 52/48 squeaker. A Republican that was actually willing to force Obama to defend himself could have deflated that empty suit pretty easily. Palin, Romney, Fred... any of them could have done it. Once Toonces is off his teleprompter he reveals himself to be a nattering idiot with micrometer-thick skin.
McCain ran a terrible campaign. He was walking on eggshells the entire time and could only bring himself to make the most oblique criticisms. Otherwise someone might have called him a racist (which they did anyway, obviously). He depended on Palin to do all the attacking and then let his staff cut her off at the knees. Made her look bad and made himself look old and weak.

Good luck with that. We had the same thing happen in Washington and the judge ruled there was no way to tell how they voted despite several studies showing they vote 80% democrat. Part of it was the attorneys fault though. They tried to prove the unprovable instead of demanding a new vote.

Our business - which keeps us incredibly poor (due to the wall street crooks) depends on the movement of freight through the ports of L.A. and LGB. The Longshoremans Union is on strike again - they seem to be about every other year. I'm guessing the average salary is over 60k (well over with o.t.) healthcare and pensions. Normally this is fine with me, but now, when basically everyone who depends on the shipping industry is on edge - or on the verge of closing, it's not.
They shouldn't be so blind to the economic situation that surrounds them.
And don't even get me started on the amount of money the port of LGB has in it's bank accounts (I'm betting it's close to $1b - and that's not an exaggeration).

I just got back from Inception, and the good news is THE TRAILERS ARE LYING AND YOU WON'T MISS ANYTHING BY SKIPPING THE MOVIE. To those who were tempted despite the smirking hellion Ellen Page and the cleft-forehead DiCaprio, you are off the hook. Hell, even the music is lying. All that cool music in the trailer? I listened and listened for it, and it's not even IN the movie. Just a lot of unwarranted banging to amp-up the nothingness.
Here's all you need to know about Inception:
1 - The trailer is lying. All those scenes where cities are falling down and such are actually very calm and off-hand.
2 - There is not an ounce of suspense because you never get one bit invested in the stakes.
3 - Ellen Page is an annoying twit.
4 - There are dozens of logic holes.
5 - That cool music you hear in the trailer isn't in the movie.
6 - This movie was better when it was Sphere -- which should tell you something right there.
7 - Half the dialog is the characters explaining the plot to each other.
8 - The end is a pointless mind-fuck.
(9 - Because of 1-8, it will win Best Picture.)

Some are catching on, with some info I'm dropping on them. A kid at work, young 20's, couldn't believe the taxes being taken out of his check. He has an O sticker on his work station. He just got on commision (I can't spell, but he gets paid for what he gets done) and he works like a madman. I like to tell him all the Important things that his taxes are going too. He acts outraged on the waste of things, but I live in a blue city, where people just say "that's the way it is". My state was red until the last election.

Mowing grass using a push mower when it is 100°F outside.
But I think what the real problem is now is that parents of the typical family now spoil their children. They don't make them do "chores" or in a lot of cases even pick up after themselves. So their kids grow up to be lazy.

I did that one day out on my great grandmother's sister's farm. My father thought it would be a good experience for my older brother and me to spend a day doing farm work.
And yes, it did suck. Especially since we were not getting paid doing work for kin folks.

Average construction cost includes kitchens and bathrooms and in a lot of cases, the price of the lot.
You should figure the cost using average construction cost for a two-car garage which is a LOT cheaper.
My 15 x 15 pool building (also included a 15 x 10 ft unfloored overhang to park my lawn tractor under) was purchased from a building supply outfit locally who prefabbed these things on site and installed them at your desired location. The initial cost was $1500.00 (about 20 years ago). I spent another $500.00 installing 3/4" shelves and a 3/4" plywood floor with linoleum covering, a breaker box and assorted outlets and wiring.
So for $2000 I got a nice size building and garage for my tractor. I suspect that the price would probably have increased by no more than 50% now so call it $3000 now.

You mentioned digging and pouring a foundation. Check into the local tax laws. You may find that if you do not pour a "permanent foundation" that the building is taxed a much lower rate than home construction. It is that way here which is why I didn't have a concrete slab poured to put the building on and save the cost of adding flooring.
It would have saved me some money in the short term but cost a fortune in taxes over the long haul.

Generally, up here, we cut and hung around Labor Day, after three months of hoeing, suckering, spraying, and other wise sweating our asses off for 3.00 per pound. Now it's 1.90 or so a pound, so folks just do more of it.
Still, you can't pull $2000 off an acre with any other crop, except dope, and that comes with "disadvantages".

I had a co-worker who inherited a farm from his grandmother. It came with some kind of tobacco allotment scam where the government would pay him to "not grow" tobacco. He loved that since he didn't intend to grow tobacco anyway.
That "not growing" bought him a new boat about every 5 years. I was jealous.

They ditched the scheme, prices fell slightly, and now flow with the market. No base necessary. But, due mostly to labor virgins, supply is about the same as it has always been.
Our county now has one grower that I know of. Might be 2 next year, if I get to feeling froggy. We're looking at picking up a different farm that has a good sized tobacco barn, and it's close to our family farm, now owned by my brother, that has a big hanging barn on it.
There's decent money to be made in it. Just drink plenty of water and buy sunscreen. If you clear 15K off 5 acres of it, that's good, healthily obtained money, and that net can cover a multitude of other sins that infect the pocketbook when you live the rural/farm life.

OK, so actually what you are building IS a small house. One other thing you may wish to look in to is how the local utility charges you if you ran a separate line and meter base the way I did initially. Since I didn't have a kitchen and a bedroom they charged me commercial rates which was 50% higher than residential here.
After a few years of that I called in a licensed electrician and had him rip off the dual meter base and install a single meter base with a breaker box combined. That cost me $500 but I saved enough money the first year on electricity rates for it to pay for itself.

What surprises me now, looking back on it, was my cheerful willingness to repeat the exercise.
Youth must lend one a certain imperviousness to life's suckitude.
I remember fully grokking how much it sucked in that moment and I also know that I came back to that job all summer, no problem.
Sometimes older Deety looks back at younger Deety and sees an alien.

5.00 an hour in the mid 80s was good money for a 14 or 15 year old kid. Also, we almost always got fed at the end of the day, so there was that, too. I didn't mind the field work as much as putting it up in the barn.
No matter where it was, at the end of the day we ate at the picnic table outside the farmhouse because we stunk and itched.

If you have to go 60 feet you will need a heavy electrical feed. When I initially installed the electrical I did it for the pool fixtures (2 - 1 hp pumps and a light). I ran about 50 ft of 6 gauge copper via a 40 amp breaker. That same feed is what I used for the pool shed.
You will be running a lot more service though if you are building a small house with all those iminities. (probably will need a 100 amp feed) If you will be tieing into the meter base your utility will require a licensed electrician. (Your local code may require it anyway). He will be able to tell you what size you need to run if you do not have the utility run a separate feed to the building.

Funny thing is that they're paying kids who would probably do it for the same 5.00 I got, but they refuse to pay less than minimum wage. Kids will grumble. That's par. But I see some of my kids' friends and they are just incredibly lazy. I think part of it has to do with smaller families. Each little Jane or Joe is precious instead of a part of a unit with responsibilities to make the whole thing function. Also, it's no big deal for mom to pick up after one or two. Six? Different matter entirely.
And, honestly, there just isn't that much work to do in the burbs. "Clean your room." Check. What now? "Uh, mow our 1/4 acre.". Done. "Take the garbage can the 20 feet to the curb". OK. Chores are done for the week in less than an hour.

LOL, I grew up in the city on a small lot and there were 4 of us. But my folks could ALWAYS find stuff for us to do. Mop the kitchen, mow, rake, clean. My mom even used to send us to the store to get stuff.
But we still had plenty of time to make ourselves scarce to avoid work. Get on bicycles and ride 15 miles out of town to a natural spring to go swimming etc.
That lasted until we got older and then it was all the work I was talking about.

That's enough to make enough of a mess that there's work to do. I don't think an only child or the 2.1 average that's currently fashionable is.
I find it funny that in 1950 there was no problem raising 4 or 5 kids in a 1200 foot house, but now you're not even allowed to build them that small in most places. Our whole identity now seems to be wrapped up in how big our home theater is, so we cut down how many kids we have to pay for it.

I don't remember feeling "too hot" or "too cold" to play when I was a kid.
It was just an imperative, no matter the weather.
I do remember overhearing some guests of my parents remarking on the fact that kids are just hell bent on playing no matter what the weather, when I was about 5 or so.
Of course, we didn't really have much of our "play-time" supervised by adults so we probably did slack off and lay low on the hotter days.

LOL, that house we grew up in was only two bedrooms. I don't think it was even 1200 ft2. Initially there were three kids and my great grandmother. Then 4 kids but no great grand mother.
People would be aghast living like that now (unless they are illegals who live three families to a house).
I was looking at some statistics a few years ago before the collapse where they were talking about home sizes. At that time the average size home in the U.S. was 1700 ft2. New construction at the time averaged 2100 ft2. I thought to myself wow, where was all the money coming from?
I guess we found out.

Personally, I prefer a smaller house. (SUCK IT PROPERTY TAX GUY!!). Also, it keeps the family closer. It's a hell of a lot more important to me that my kids learn to live together, even with the inevitable fighting, than it is that little Sally Sue Von Sluttington (which is what they turn into when they're spoiled) has her own room with wi-fi, a bathroom with walk in shower and a plasma TV. I'm all in favor of capitalism and getting rich, but borrowing yourself into oblivion to fake it is stupidity of the highest order, as we've learned.

I paid off my house after 8 years. I haven't bought a vehicle on a loan since 1983. I don't owe anybody anything other than those monthly bills that never get paid off.

Thanks for asking. It's actually different daughters. The one with the lymph infection just got switched from augmentin to clyndomycin, so we'll see how that goes. Doc was talking about slicing it out. No way. She's got 80 years of use to get out of that chunk of immune system.
Oldest had the lamb. He didn't do very well at the show, but he sold for $575 + market price. Probably something about a cute little 10 year old girl with tears in her eyes in the sale ring. It's a tough lesson the first year around.

LOL, the only time I had to hide in the woods like that was once while at home on leave from the Navy during dove season I went on a dove shoot with a buddy. I had no hunting license and the game wardens came around checking. I saw their truck pull into the corn field at the other end and I just slowly backed into the woods from out of the field.

They are still building new homes in the area down the street from my subdivision. They run between 1700 and 1800 ft2 with one big one that looks like it is about 2000 ft2. The average cost of building here is about $103 ft2. (excluding landscaping)

The best shoot I ever had was on a sunflower field. The only problem was finding the damn birds after I shot them.
Its funny too now because I keep a bird feeder stocked with sunflower seed in the front yard. The squirrels and the doves love it. They leave the other feeders alone which is why I put it out there to begin with.
If I didn't have that county sheriff living two houses down I could shoot all the doves I want in the front yard. Of course, bushwhacking is not cool though.

You got that right. The 1950s track house neighborhood I lived in in Castro Valley is still going for $550 ft2 on tiny lots barely big enough for the house.
To me that makes no sense whatsoever. The people who can afford to pay $550 ft2 are not going to buy a 1950s track house on a tiny lot.
If I still lived in CA I would be renting until the prices get where they should be. And that will not happen until the government gets totally out of the housing market.

My sister-in-law passed away and her town house went into foreclosure and it is just sitting there. The bank doesn't seem to move on it till the market recovers.
We are in for a rough ride for the foreseeable future as indicated by the cement industry, a leading indicator, which is producing around 75% in the mid-atlantic region. Readymix is on its ass. Florida cement is ~ 50% and is underwater bad.

My daughter got a 3 ton carrier a couple of years ago. I think it cost her about $1800 not counting installation or delivery. (In SC)
I got a 3 ton Trane several years before that and paid a lot more for both the unit itself and I had duct work and installation done.
At the time I thought the extra cost would be justified by lower maintenance costs over time. I was wrong. Have had to replace the compressor twice. Once under warranty and once out of warranty. Will never go with Trane again.
But, I suspect the cost is dependent on local conditions.

Keep the filter clean and lysol the hell out of the unit. When I traveled a lot for work the motel ACs would always give me sinus problems. I started carrying a lysol and the first thing I would do after checking in was douse the AC with it. It worked wonders.

I would advise them to sell and get out of Hayward and CA. I left in 77 before things got real bad.
Most of the friends I had in the Bay Area have all moved to NV now.
And to computer expert Morons out there. I have ran in to a problem with my wife's tabletop that I have never seen before.
It crashed and would not boot but did not get the old hard drive failure warning. I tried reloading Windows XP. No luck. I tried removing the disk partition and doing a clean install no luck. I replaced the hard drive no luck. I have even switched out the memory cards with no luck.
What it is doing is after I load windows it goes into the install program and gets to the part after loading files where it wants to boot from the hard drive. It initially goes there and fails in the boot sequence before it can finish loading and configuring Windows.
It just sits there and reboots over and over in a loop. Do any of you Morons have any idea on this? Hell, I thought I was an expert on this crap but I have never seen this one.

Nope; it will not even finish loading Windows and configuring. I did try going into the safe mode even though it had never finished the install, no joy.
4500 ft in Hayward. Yell, that may be tough to sell right now. But it may be good to put it out there on the market and see. Doesn't hurt although you do have to put up with strangers tramping through, half of who are just nosy and have no intention on buying.

I used diskpart to remove the disk partition and even swapped hard drives and tried it several times. It does the same thing under all iterations.
I have also checked bios settings and could see no problems there. I am wondering if the bios as become corrupted.
I have never tried flashing the bios. I here that you can really screw things up doing that. But if I can't get anything else to work perhaps that is worth a shot before trashing it.

What it is doing is after I load windows it goes into the install program and gets to the part after loading files where it wants to boot from the hard drive. It initially goes there and fails in the boot sequence before it can finish loading and configuring Windows.
It just sits there and reboots over and over in a loop. Do any of you Morons have any idea on this? Hell, I thought I was an expert on this crap but I have never seen this one.
I had something similar happen on my machine a while back, the solution in my case was that i had accidentally put a non-existent drive into the boot sequence while configuring. Went into setup, took the drive out of the boot sequence and all was well.

What's the situation with this protest?
A few months back a white guy and a black guy who had been long time "friends" got in a ruckus at the white guy's house. The white guy shot the black guy and then "drug" his body behind the truck down the road.
My understanding from the early reports on this was that it was a drug deal gone bad. Of course none of that shows up in the news now and the blacks want it prosecuted as a hate crime. That is what the Panthers are protesting for.

The local law has to prosecute first and an official investigation by the AG made that finds the local case was not adequately prosecuted before hate crime charges can be filed. IOW, the Panthers can not get what they are asking for legally.
None of the local liberal rags are reporting this either.

You have to have an add-on. And you have to restart Firefox to activate any add-on.If you have any image viewer program it probably has a screen shot feature. You designate a hot key, run the image viewer in the background and hit the hot key.

It's rare that a ribbon cable will fail unless it was being handled or moved just before the failure.
Is this a manufactured computer (like a Dell or HP) or is this one you built yourself?
I'll assume that it is not a SATA HDD since you mentioned it has a ribbon cable.
If it is a SATA drive, you will have to get the SATA controller driver and install that via F6 on the initial install.
