Overnight Thread-Stunt Blogger Edition [CDR M]
— Open Blogger

Evening Moron Nation and Happy Hump Day! How you all doin'? I got pressed into duty as Maet is now in Thailand trying to rescue Genghis from the Thai Tranny Pimp that Genghis ran afoul of last weekend. Some people never learn to tip their "waitress" appropriately.

I'm thinking of adding a Man Cave (I'll call it The CDR's Loft) to my house. I'm thinking this is a must have accessory. Guess I'll have to get an iPhone when Verizon finally gets it next year.

Some ominous news about China's DF-21D Anti-ship ballistic missile. PACFLT announces that China has achieved Initial Operational Capability with the DF-21D which is supposed to be the first long-range, land-based carrier killer.

Just when you thought there was no way a toy would go there, the German's go and do it. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised knowing what the German's can get in to. I'm thinking of getting one and sending it to the White House. Might help the Preznit with his pooper scooper duties.

One of these is not alike. Can you find it?

Seems like Christine O'Donnell is under investigation by the Feds now.

Interesting question. Which is worse? The Star Wars Holiday special or the Tron Holiday Special?

Hmmm. Only Woman To Ever Use A Neck Massager On A Neck Dies. Ladies, be careful out there if you ever really use this on your neck!

Looks like farm animals might be the bigger culprit behind why we are facing more anti-bacteria resistant super bugs. Farm animals get 80% of antibiotics in the U.S.

Looks like us sci-fi guys might have a new TV show to watch next June on TNT. It kinda looks like Red Dawn with Aliens instead of Communists. This trailer looks decent.

30 As far as the neck massager, my elderly mother had one which she used on her neck and had no idea that it was used for, um, you know. So one holiday my mom, myself, 2 sisters, and my nephew's twenty six year old girlfriend were sitting around the dining room table talking about dogs. My mom started telling about how her poodle Poochie liked it when she used the massager on her. We all sat there and tried not to laugh, but my nephew's girlfriend, bless her had to leave the room she was laughing so hard.

95 Ha.  The day after Christmas we were leaving the ATL and took my sister to meet my NYC s-i-l, her husband and son at the Varsity.  During lunch, the libs couldn't stop themselves from lecturing us about how the cold, snow, etc. are proof of global warming.

Meantime, they are still having trouble getting their Prius (seriously) to their garage off 6th Ave. in NYC.

The jokes write themselves nowadays.

226 Fuck Hyundai. I had the A-Team favorited on my Tivo from way back when. All of a sudden, it started picking-up episodes on some new channel in my cable lineup. The lineup was a black-oriented channel, and I guess they ran the A-Team because Mr. T was in it. Long story short: The commercials are very different. The products are the same, but the approach is somewhere in bizzaro world. Hyundai ran a commercial that looked like one of those short interview segments in a Ken Burns yawnfest. It was a younger man bitching about the US and our history of slavery and racial injustice. A fucking TV commercial selling a product was doing it this way. On the bright side, Hyundai has made it possible for me to tell people who aren't native english speakers that I'll get 'em jobs in a Hyundai factory making Accents.

My 22 year old saw it with some of his friends. He said they all thought it was great cinema, but he didn't think it was my kind of movie. He is probably right- Moms and their sons usually don't have the same tastes, although this same group loved the new "True Grit".

Sadly enough, it's pretty close to the absolute truth, but probably not the way they mean it.  Conservatives are brainwashed and stupid if they believe the Republican Party is going to represent them unless they kick some of the RNC leadership in the ass.  Take a little lie and build on it.  Wizards First Rule, you know.

Jane that is truly awesome.  I like doing care packages too.  Alex, we are here for you.  You will be in our thoughts and prayers, and yes, if you need anything, you need to let us know.  I would totally love to do a care package.

Anyone looking for a good charity to donate to now to complete their end of year giving, The Semper Fi Fund is awesome.  Less than 6 percent of their contributions go to administrative costs.  The rest of it goes directly to wounded warriors.  I did an online donation yesterday (although, my credit card company initially rejected it twice, then called me because they thought it might be a fraudulent operation).  I told the woman at Fraud Protection who called me that it is a very legit and reputable charity that donates 94% of the proceeds to actual wounded veterans.  I told her I usually send a check, but got behind with all the Christmas stuff, I had to do an online donation.  She stayed on the phone with me til I successfully completed the transaction, and expressed surprise that I was giving money when so few people are giving to charity right now.  I told her that we are so fortunate and so blessed to be living in this great country and that these guys literally put their lives on the line so people like me can enjoy the freedoms and prosperity bought by their sacrifice.  By the end of the conversation, it sounded like she was thinking about giving too.

The rapists tended to dwell under bridges and overpasses.  They always, I'm not kidding, had a stash of pornography.   So did the child rapists.  I had no idea about this before I saw these things.

Around the same time, we lived in a big old Victorian.  And one of our neighbors went under the house to look for his cat, and found a bunch of porno mags and clothes.  And some guy on the lam was hiding out there.  We called the cops and they came and took him away.

343 So what's the Moron consensus on The Walking Dead?  I've got it all Tivoed and I'm up to episode...4 I guess. The episode where the go back into the city and run into the Mexican gang-bangers.  I'm kinda torn, there's an awful lot of dumb going on (the buddy cop has 4 .357/.38 rounds? In America?  In a southern state?  Really?) but I kinda want to see what happens next.

I know about the French thing (really?  Of all the places that has civilization still standing, France?  Not, oh, a mid-sized town in Texas or Montana where suppressors and automatic weapons can be found?) and that is almost enough to make me want to clear up some space on the Tivo.

So, what do you all think?

344 I too looove Mark Steyn.  I was bummed out I could only hear bits and pieces of his show today.  I really love it when he fills in for Rush.  Even my husband was turning up the volume in the car (and he isn't a talk radio fan).

My strange addiction marks the last step in TLC's 5 year transition from edutainment to full-on freakshow. Half of the TLC "stars" would have been thrown in the nuthouse just 30 years ago. The other half, the clown car uterati and the religious turnstyle vagina and the army of midgets, would've made for some great late night entertainment on USA's Night Flight.

Will I be watching the premiere? You bet your Barnum ass I will. After I finish the art thread, that is.

Jane, does he have a really good headlight?  Like a Petzl that mountaineers use?  One of my co-workers (a reservist) went to Iraq a couple of years ago.  I bought him a bunch of stuff before he left.  One of the things I gave him was a good headlight which he emailed later to say he was using all the time.  I also bought him some anti-chafing/anti blister stuff that's so much better than Body Glide and doesn't have that nasty odor Body Glide does.  It's called Blister Shield.  It's sold at good running stores and also at 2toms dot com.  It's the best stuff to prevent chafing and blisters.  It's a roll on application. Smart wool sox are always nice.  If he doesn't have the movie "Team America" that's a classic, for sure.  If he's a coffee drinker, Starbucks has that new instant stuff, VIA that my husband thinks is pretty good.  (I don't drink coffee so I don't know).

Also good books--or maybe a Kindle?  I got Unbroken for Christmas, but haven't started it as I'm reading 3 cups of Tea (also a Christmas present) and Born to Run right now.

Falling Skies: alternate title: John Carter, Warlord of . . . Earth.  'Cause Falling Skies's star Noah Wylie also played a doctor named John Carter, which was also the name of a famous pulp hero who fought Martians.

Speaking of which, the new John Carter movie has an amazing cast and crew.  If only it lives up to half its potential.  I mean, I can't think of five cooler words associated with a sci/fi movie than: "Willem Dafoe as Tars Tarkis."

Unfortunately true.  Once upon a time we caught a thief on Forrestal and took him to the Cap'n.  The Cap'n said this man looks too good to be a thief.  Bring him back when he looks like a thief.  A couple of trips head-first down the ladders and the Cap'n agreed that he looked like a thief.  I'm pretty sure you could get yourself in trouble for that sort of thing these "kinder gentler" days.

499  10 lbs in 7 days

7 weeks.  And 10 lbs is, like 10% of my body weight, so if it had been 7 days, I probably would have been "film at 11."    And I didn't find the job, the job found me.  It is plain impossible to "find" a job these days.  This was kismet.  I'm very fortunate.  I figured I'd be living in a shopping cart by now.

Oops, I misread that!  You are a tiny little thing!  I'm so glad that the job found you!  So awesome!

It's not as cool as today's gang bangers.

I think it has to do with America hating libtards who control the film industry.  They hate to see anything that elevates America's status as the world's super power or glorifies things like Westward expansion.  Plus, our history is "stained" with the blood of innocent Native Americans who were raped, pillaged and had their land stolen right from under them by the evil White man.  They view America through their skewed lens of history and find nothing worth celebrating.  The Western basically glorifies Manifest Destiny, the strong American cowboy, God and country.  All things lefties hate.

593 The American western genre died because hardly anyone believes we have a pioneer spirit any more. The closest this parable comes to current fantasy is the SF genre, with movies like Aliens representing our urge to conquer new lands.

643 Morning, nice and warm here today. Temps are actually going up now after bottoming at 24.7.

Posted by: Vic at December 30, 2010 01:18 AM (M9Ie6)

644 This new Chinese missile has been the news rage now for weeks. I keep asking myself why?  Carrier killer missile is that new. The Russians didn't have one during the cold war or now?

I have some real news for the news people; this ain't new and the Chinese have the same problem the Russians had, you have to find the carrier first, and then you have to hit it while it is moving. Finding it is tough, hitting any kind of a moving target with a ballistic missile is even tougher since you have almost zero control over it once it is launched.

Ballistic missiles are not the big threat to the carriers so what is the end game here with all this publicity?

Posted by: Vic at December 30, 2010 01:22 AM (M9Ie6)

645 And no Christine O'Donnell is not under investigation AGAIN. This investigation has already been done once and she was cleared. This is just BS harassment by the same slimy bastards as always.

We Morons need to quit giving them airtime.

Posted by: Vic at December 30, 2010 01:24 AM (M9Ie6)

646 22 here, up to 41 New Years. Finally your warmer but not by much.hehee

and on the Missile if it finds the carrier group it will have to go through defense ships armament and anti missiles plus the gattling guns on the carrier and surrounding ships..

Posted by: beanervt at December 30, 2010 01:26 AM (Nq05I)

647 On to the news; we see the liar 'n chief has bypassed congress yet again nominating an ambassador to Syria and two other places.

They gave Busy a ration of shit for nominating one in 8 years, Bolton. Sometimes I just want to scream about the MFM.

Posted by: Vic at December 30, 2010 01:27 AM (M9Ie6)

648 it will have to go through defense ships armament and anti missiles plus the gattling guns on the carrier and surrounding ships..

I'm sure the idea is to use a nuke. But as I said finding it is tough. Its a big ocean. Once you find it and launch we would know almost immediately and a carrier can move a long ways in the 30 or 40 minutes travel time.

A ship killer ballistic missile is a waste of money. I'm glad some other countries are having problems with logical procurement. Obviously someone has a nephew in the ballistic missile business or this whole thing is a false flag operation designed to hide something else.

Posted by: Vic at December 30, 2010 01:31 AM (M9Ie6)

Nation's largest racist organization shows it true colors again

The South Carolina NAACP will use its annual January State House rally to oppose cuts to state health care and education programs as well as a proposed Arizona-style immigration bill.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally also will renew the S.C. NAACPÂ’s call to remove the Confederate flag from the State House grounds and for groups to boycott S.C. tourism until the flag is placed in a museum, S.C. chapter president Lonnie Randolph said Wednesday.

The National Association for Advancement of Communism will hold it annual rally to fight for wealth redistribution and its resistance to all things dealing with confederate history.

This while celebrating a figure who gave up civil rights in the last years of his efforts to fight against the U.S. in the Vietnam war and help communist causes all over the nation. Black Liberation Theology wasn't born with Jeremiah Wright.

My favorite letter writer strikes again:

Editor:

Once every two years on the first day of the new Senate there is an opportunity for the senators to change the rules of the Senate and get rid of rules like the filibuster that allow the minority to rule over the majority. On Jan. 5 on a simple majority vote, they could choose to end the abuses of power that have caused the people to despise Congress so much.

The Democrats have the votes to make it happen, but it would end their power to abuse the system if they should become a minority. You would think that Republicans might be in favor of change as well and maybe some Republicans might help vote in the rule changes.

Former FBI agent Ryan Seese was ordered to spend one month to nearly two years bars for spying on women in bathrooms in Derry Township.  The sentence was handed down Tuesday morning.  Prosecutors called it appropriately harsh.

As part of his sentence, Seese must also spend three years on county probation and he is not allowed to be on the property of any school, daycare center, playground or park.

Police said Seese hid in the stall of a girl's bathroom at Hershey Middle School back in May and peered over the wall to watch a 14-year-old girl. They also said in February he went into a ladies' bathroom at the Granada Gym in Derry Township.  Police said there were two victims in that case.

Tuesday's sentence includes both the incidents at the gym and the incident at the middle school.
