Paterson End Game In NY?
— DrewM

Looks like the fall of David Paterson maybe reaching it's climax.

Today, Paterson's spokesman resigned and blasted the Governor on the way out the door.

"I have been honored to serve the people of New York during a difficult time in our stateÂ’s history. As a former officer in the United States Navy, integrity and commitment to public service are values I take seriously."

"Unfortunately, as recent developments have come to light, I cannot in good conscience continue in my current position. I have notified the Governor that I am resigning as Director of Communications."

Kaufman joins Paterson's Director of Criminal Justice Services and State Police Chief on the resignation front.

In addition to the charges that he interfered with a domestic violence case, Paterson is also facing ethics charges in conjunction with some Yankees tickets he accepted.

Now the WSJ is reporting the Governor is holding an emergency meeting with his staff.

Time to say goodbye? Let's just say I have in front of me a skull, some lighter fluid and a match.

19 I kinda want him to come out and say, "I refuse to resign, to save taxpayers the cost of reprinting all the signs and pamphlets with the new governor's name."

Seriously, for the money they spent on replacing "Spitzer" with "Paterson" on state park signage and maps alone, they could have kept the Revolutionary War sites open for another year.

37 Just had it all explained to me by someone who knows.  They took me all the way back to when Ford, needed to pick a VP and chose someone with the killz but not the ambition anymore to be prex, Nelson Rockefeller.  They said ravitch was the head of some commission that pulled NYC from the brink of bankruptcy and that is why he was chosen.  Also he was chosen because he has no ambition to become governmor.  The person said this might be the smartest thing Paterson did as governor.  Knowing a budget is due and NY is on the bankruptcy cliff.

My politics are squarely Ann Coulter, but ugh, I just can't cheer this one on.  If I had to create an analogy, this would be like celebrating Bill Clinton resigning from office so that Barack Obama can take over his seat. (Uh, yay?)  There's no chance of a Republican or fiscal conservative coming into office, Paterson's going to get replaced by an even greasier, more ruthlessly ambitious, family-dynasty (yes, yes, I know Paterson's political lineage) Obama-backed machine-hack democrat politician, so all-in-all, am I celebratin'?  Hell no.  Why would I celebrate going from bad to worse?

Yankees tickets?  State troopers?  Pikers.  Somebody higher up the food chain wants him gone and that's all there is to it.

No flaming skull for me please.
