— Ace Dave @ Garfield Ridge wrote to me to say Paul Ryan had given him wood earlier in the day, with his Washington doesn't have all the answers mini-speech.
I think this is better.
Look at Obama just having to sit there and take it, with that Nixonian glower. And note again he will not engage on any point he'd have to concede -- he just says he doesn't want to get "bogged down" in petty little details like whether this cuts costs as advertised, or in fact creates a perpetual multi-trillion hole in the budget.

Jay Nordlinger: Agrees Republicans won:
Let me try something out on you: This health-care summit was a bad idea for the Democrats for this reason: They have long benefited from a perception — a perception greatly abetted by the media: The Republicans don’t care about health care, they don’t know about health care, they are the Party of No. All the ideas and caring are on the Democratic side.It is not so, and it has never been so. And now everybody knows it.

Please post the video of Xavier Beccera, whom Obama points out at the end, giving the rebuttal to Ryan. It is one big freaking joke. Beccera tries to claim that Ryan is besmirching the integrity of the CBO. He's not. Ryan is merely stating what is known. The CBO cannot score theory. It can only score what you present to it. If you do not give it all of your details - since those details are changing faster than improv comics in a midnight lightning round in Senator Reid's office - they cannot be used as some independent referee.

WaPo has the CQ Transcript. Nice.
BECERRA: Mr. President, thank you very much for bringing us all together. I do want to address something that my friend, Paul Ryan, said, because I almost think that we can't have this discussion any further without addressing something Paul said.
Paul, you called into question the Congressional Budget Office. Now, we could all agree to disagree. We could all have our politics, but if there's no referee on the field, we can never agree how the game should be played.
RYAN: Let me clarify just to be clear.
BECERRA: No, no, let me -- if I could just finish. And so I think we have to decide, do we believe in the Congressional Budget Office or not? Because Paul, you and I have sat on the Budget Committee for years together and you have on any number of occasions in those years cited the Congressional Budget Office to make your point, referred to the Congressional Budget Office's projections to make your point. And today, you essentially said you can't trust the Congressional Budget Office.
RYAN: No, that is not what I'm saying.
BECERRA: Well, that was my interpretation. I apologize if I misinterpreted.
(CROSSTALK)
RYAN: I am not questioning the quality of their scoring. I am questioning the reality of their scoring.

The Repubs won in several key areas. First, nothing binding, or even comprehensive, was put forth. No "health care reform" legislation will be forthcoming this week. That is a huge win in and of itself. Can't be overstated.
Second, the Dems put their best foot forward and then tripped on it. Biden, Schumer, Pelosi, etc. are not the people you want out front when you're executing a charm offensive. The Dems wanted us to look like the villains, but ended up looking like blundering tools themselves.
Congrats to the Republicans for a day (finally) well spent.

I was impressed with the GOP speakers today. I'll admit, I was eeyoreish about this for the last few days. Guys like Ryan, Cantor and Alexander brought facts to the table and explained their opposition with clarity. It was a pleasant surprise.
The Dems seemed to rely almost exclusively on heartstring tugging anecdotes. That alone tells us their opinion of the American voter.
Either way, the One's closing statement made it clear; this was political theater despite his earlier claim. Reconciliation is the next step if the GOP doesn't bend over. I, for one, would welcome the attempt. Personally, I don't think it has a prayer of happening. There are simply too many hurdles to overcome and these flakes don't have the kind of consensus they need to make it happen.
Simply put, it will explode in their faces and even more seats will go GOP come November.

No matter what they spin from this, everyone that saw it that has 1/2 a brain knows that the Repubs kicked their ass. The dems came across as doing all of this for nothing more than theater, so they can go ahead with what they want & do it via reconciliation. They said it at the beginning & again at the end. They have no intention of doing anything the Repubs want. They can spin this as the Repubs not having any ideas or just being the party of 'no', but it isn't going to work anymore.
I say, let 'em do it, let 'em own it, let 'em die by it. It's all theirs, lock, stock & barrel. They'll never be in control, again.

I've been in and out so I haven't read all the previous threads. I watched this video, and I love that the Republicans are so well armed with those pesky things called facts. Nothing like the reality of cold, hard numbers that Ryan bitch slapped Barry in the head with--made me absolutely swoon.
I was like Rush. I truly expected this to be a complete disaster for the Republicans and turned into fodder for Democrat campaign ads for 2010. I was completely surprised. I think the Democrats were too. I don't think they prepped for this summit at all, they were basically assuming that Barry was going to do all the heavy lifting, and they just basically had to be present and dial it in. I commend the Republicans for doing their homework: reading and knowing what was in the bill better than Obama and the Democrats. I loved how they used the bill itself to argue against it. What an amazing day, and what a great day for the Republicans.
One of the funniest things for me was Louise Slaughter. (When all the data eviscerates the flimsy position you stand on, always go for the maudlin, tear jerking, emotionally manipulative stories of lone individuals who've been screwed by the current health care system). When that's all you've got to argue your point, then I say "When the teeth don't fit, you must all quit--quit trying to cram this crap sandwhich down our throats!" If you're going to do that, then yeah, I'd rather be wearing someone else's teeth!

How many years did you ask your mom why the arrogant, petulant, and condescending man was invited to dinner, and mother, always the peacemaker, said, "but it's only for the holiday dear" and you let it go to appease mom.
After he left, you told your dad you wouldn't be available for the next Thanksgiving, and dad said, " I understand fully", but you always did the right thing and spent the day with family. Well Uncle Jinx, you asshole, fuck you fifty plus years later!

Good thing Barry and his goons weren't around while my mother was ill and dying a few months ago.
Hey, Barry. How's that illegal "auntie" of yours doing? Still living on the public dole? Great.

Except that most people won't have watched this themselves. Instead, they will hear about it from the MSM, who will obfuscate, cover and lie like they always do.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to hell for laughing at that.

They have been WRONG from 'go'. It's easy to beat someone when they are wrong. D's argue that 2+2=5 and they think saying 'everyone agrees' makes it so.
Medicare is the problem. That needs to be fixed. None of Obama's proposals will do anything to fix Medicare one iota.

Love is like oxygen. Also, love is a battlefield. Battling with oxygen. Like someone's air supply.
I want to know what love is.

And I need to score.

This evening, I asked my brother what he thought of the big summit meeting, For some reason, he won't talk about it. I wonder why.

It was. If he had stayed in the Senate, or better yet took a turn as Govenor till 2016 he would have been unstoppable. He would have made FDR look like a chump.
Or, he may have been exposed as an incompetent clown before he had a chance to inflict this idiocy on all of us.
