— Ace Check out the lede sentence:
Chalk up another legacy for President Obama, as the Senate confirms Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.
Yet another legacy. Historic, is he.
The vote was 63-37.
The roll of shame:
Only five Republicans voted in favor of Kagan's nomination. Last year, just nine Republicans voted for Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Obama's first Supreme Court appointee.Today's yes votes included Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the lone Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee to support Kagan when the panel recommended the nomination to the full Senate on a 13-6 vote. Other GOP yes votes came from Richard Lugar of Indiana, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine, and Judd Gregg of New Hampshire.
Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass, one of Kagan's home state senators, voted against her.
Ben Nelson voted against her, by the way. He hears the footsteps.
And yet the Maine Twits and galpal Lindsey voted for her.

OT: Hey Missouri voters - screw you.
Yesterday's Missouri vote means nothing to the Lord Obama and his left-wing handlers.
In a letter from John Cornyn:
"Apparently, the White House doesn't care much for what the American people want.
After Missourians overwhelmingly voted on Tuesday to pass a measure that would exempt residents from President ObamaÂ’s costly health care law mandate, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs Wednesday flatly dismissed the clear message from 667,000 Missourians. According to The Hill, "When asked what it means that voters in Missouri would vote against the federal mandate, Gibbs said: 'Nothing.'"
Incredible. This arrogance and political tone deafness from the Obama White House is simply astounding. That the White House has shown such blatant disregard for the votes cast by Missourians as ‘nothing’ is startling, and it should make clear just how out-of-touch the Obama Administration and Democrats are with average Americans."

The non shrinking violets over at dealbreaker have a wild description of this guy, wild.
" the boy who spent months of late nights hunched over at his typewriter, gnawing the skin off his knuckles trying to figure out how those crooks at Goldman Sachs do it, reportedly threw scalding hot coffee in the face of a reporter whoÂ’d offered him constructive criticism and, on at least on occasion, kept a thermos of horse semen in his fridge to later be baked into a pie and smashed into an unsuspecting victimÂ’s face." It's amazing what these retards are able to accomplish simply through raw ambition, ruthless exercise of power, and relentless dishonesty.
They have no honor whatsoever. They create nothing of value. They have developed little talent or ability other than a knack for grabbing undeserved credit and pushing off blame toward others for their unnumerable fuck ups.

Well, at the rate we're going, they won't for long, liberal judges will just overturn whichever results their cocktail-party friends disapprove of.

I hate Hannity. He is a vain, stupid man. But, he did an interview with Arlen Sphincter the other night that was very good. Why Sphincter went on his show is beyond my understanding, but Hannity called him on all his flipping, flopping and backtracking. It was the only worthwhile thing I have ever seen from Hannity and I give him due respect for that one thing.
As for Kagan? It was inevitable.

Fair enough points. And it's nice to see that the emminently qualified Harriet Meiers finally got seated in SCOTUS, even if she had do it by wearing a dumpy lez-bean costume.
To others: how exactly could Graham has truly held up the process, even if he had a mind to? Senators put "holds" on court nominees, but I don't think that procedure is recognized for SCOTUS, only the lower benches.

we have to get rid of Lindsey Graham. That should be the main focus of the Republican party. This man needs to be removed. He's up in 2014 right? Is there anyone in South Carolina who can replace this asshole.
Don't worry, this will be his last term in office. He was primaried last time around but won partly because of the weakness of his opponent and partly because it was a depressing year all around for Republicans. Since then he's pissed off enough people that I think his political demise is fairly certain. He's pulled the conservative-in-an-election-year trick once too many times; unfortunately, we still have to deal with him for another four years.

The committee cannot bring a final vote for the nominee unless one member of the minority votes for it. From the committee rules:
"IV. BRINGING A MATTER TO A VOTE
The
Chairman shall entertain a non-debatable motion to bring a matter
before the Committee to a vote. If there is objection to bring the
matter to a vote without further debate, a roll call vote of the
Committee shall be taken, and debate shall be terminated if the motion
to bring the matter to a vote without further debate passes with ten
votes in the affirmative, one of which must be cast by the minority."

The last poll I saw had DeMint up by 60%. It will actually turn out a lot higher because "called" people get to vote in the poll where as Dems have to actually get off their ass and go vote.
If they haven't got someone to do it for them they will not do that.

Perhaps when the Repubs win a majority in the Senate and his vote isn't necessary for filibusters (as if he would filibuster on any real conservative issue) the SC party will do so and he can join fellow socialist Bernie Sanders and lib democrat independent Lieberman in the wasteland, or change his party to his real identity, as a democrap.
