— Ace A bookend to Tony Blankley's rant -- same rousing music, different lyrics.
Read the whole thing, again.
The contempt for ordinary Americans displayed by the ruling class is reaching critical mass. There may never have been a time in American history when the governing, academic, cultural, and media elites have been more manifestly disdainful of the countryÂ’s values, traditions, principles, and people.Individuals who express sincere concerns that the polices and practices of the elites are imperiling the nationÂ’s economy and security are branded as racists and xenophobes by the anointed: A diminutive mayor who appears to conflate a talent for acquiring wealth with omniscience lectures that anyone who opposes the erection of a mosque on the site where 2,700 Americans were slaughtered by radical-Islamic terrorists must be motivated by religious intolerance; tea-party activists who protest the federal governmentÂ’s insane spending spree are motivated not by horror at a $13,300,000,000,000 debt but by racial animus toward the chief fiscal incontinent residing in the White House; those who voted to maintain the central institution of civilization were actually voting for bigotry and oppression.
The same elites who lecture incessantly refuse to listen to the racist rabble populating flyover country. They have no problem listening, apologizing, and bowing obsequiously to our declared enemies, but insist on acting imperiously toward their fellow Americans.
...
They’ll do this because they’re smart. They went to the best schools. And they agree with Rep. Pete Stark that “the federal government can do anything.”
Perhaps in the recent past, with a compliant, JournoList-infected media providing cover, they could do anything. Not anymore. Americans have had enough.
Belated Hat-Tip: Thanks to ArthurK.

Yes actually, we have. And if nothing changes in November, sh*t WILL hit the fan.

The political class needs to fear the consequences of going too far.
They have been acting like there is no such thing as a consequence.

Take the pre-progressive Constitution, add in anti-progressive language such as no public unions, much more restrictive commerce clause, iron clad 2nd amendment, balanced budget, take out social security and the other unfunded mandates, etc. and outlaw islam for good measure. Have the red states secede, and form a new republic on that document.
And let the blue states do what they want, which is a centralized socialist European style nanny state.
Everyone wins, right?

Does this new law make individual citizens more or less free as stated in the Constitution and per our inalienable rights?
Make the results public before the vote. Let congress follow a bad trend at their peril.

Those who don't know history ...
can't answer Vic's question.
Recall the Civil War Republicans painted the democrats as though they were all treasonous confederate sympathizers.
Let your ballot finish the work your bayonet began at Gettysburg (I am paraphrasing because I don't recall the actual quote) was one campaign slogan.
Posted by: Strategic Corporal USMC at August 11, 2010 01:48 PM (R2fpr)
That was supposed to be the prerogative of the Congress. Adding another body to the Legislative doesn't relieve Congress of that responsibility and certainly wouldn't ensure that the new group would be any more law-abiding.
All political bodies can be gamed. The only solution is to reassert the limitations of the Constitution as written by electing representatives who obey the original document.
We don't need to add shit to the mess; we need to clean house!

Not to be nitpicky, and its a minor point, but I wish that you would cease and desist with referring to prominent liberals as elitists. One point of Tony Blankley's article was that they are anything but.
They're rather stupid, pompous asses, drunk with power, who are about to be put back in their place.
In other news, those very same pompous asses to whom you referred; i.e., prominent Democrats will be have a fundraiser for Charlie Crist tonight. It appears that they're thrown Meeks under a bus.
Charlie said, though, that if he is elected, being the selfless guy that he is, that he will caucus with Floridians, not necessarily with Democrats, whatever the fuck that means.
Also, that weasel just told Wolfie that he is opposed to Jan Brewer's legislation in Arizona, and, therefore, that he will fight it if Florida's Attorney General, Bill McCollum, introduces similar legislation in Florida.
What a weasel. He reminds me of General Wesley Clark.

No, not good enough. You may have noticed that gun sales have been ineffective at stopping a single piece of the legislation that everyone is so pissed off about. Besides, the idea that, outside of a tiny fringe element, people are buying guns to overthrow the government is utterly stupid. People are generally buying to avoid suspected future restrictions and their accompanying costs.

What JEA seems to be missing is that the left are the French Revolutionaries of today. That's how they view themselves. I'm surprised the Indonesian Imbecile and his useful idiots haven't tried to force the Revolutionary calendar on us, yet, since it is one of the most potent anti-Christian weapons they could use.
But, in most ways, there is little difference between the modern left and French Revolutionaries. They hate all the same things and both are/were obsessed with destroying all traces of the national tradition and culture, with particular emphasis on attacking traditional religion. Both groups live(d) to change everything just for change's sake. Of course, we saw how that worked out for France. They had seen our Revolution and the right way to do things, but the French had to prove that they were better. So ... they ended up with a dictator and are now on their 5th Republic - and they only have a fifth republic because we keep saving their pathetic asses.

No sir, I'd say you're wrong. I already had a .38 and a Mossberg 500 Tactical for home defense. When Dear Leader Ogabe got elected I bought a Yugoslav SKS 7.62.
Why?
When our economy finally collapses because of the gubmint and people are freaking the fuck out, riots start up, the food supply goes down, and fuel becomes more precious than human life, I want to be armed with some serious firepower that has an abundant ammo supply and is proven to be rugged and easy to use.
With milions of guns in the hands of private citizens all across this country, if you think that full blown violent upheaval can't happen here and we're all pussy-whiny people, I'd suggest you think again.
