— Ace 51% of Democrats, that is. Only 47% want him renominated.
Will he be primaried? Not seriously. Maybe as a protest by either an old DLC type or someone of the open left.
No one can primary Obama because even if you won the nomination you'd lose the general, with the critical bloc of black Democratic voters strongly turned off by it all.
Still, if this sentiment persists, he might take another page from LBJ. "If nominated, I will not run, if elected, I will not serve..."
If we assume, correctly, that Obama is all about adoration and isn't very happy about having the first real job of his life (and first real accountability), the Obama Declares Victory and Goes Home scenario becomes more likely.
He needs an easy gig, like running some kind of foundation or think tank. Something where he can work ten or twelve hours a week, golf with celebrities, and receive adoration of (smaller but more, um, selective) crowds.

Obama and Bill Clinton have been campaigning at warp speed here in Pennsylvania. They are mounting a GOTV effort with youth and minorities. Obama's voice was hoarse as he was screaming at this latest rally in Philadelphia that he wanted the volunteers to knock on 20,000 doors.
If the sentiment among Democrats is as lukewarm as this story suggests, these Democrat volunteers may have a situation on their hands.

Among Democrats, 47 percent say Obama should be challenged for the 2012 nomination and 51 percent say he should not be opposed. Those favoring a contest include most who backed Hillary Rodham Clinton's unsuccessful faceoff against Obama for the 2008 nomination. The poll did not ask if Democrats would support particular challengers

Stewart and Colbert's rally was attended by three times as many people as Beck's.
Organizers say 250,000 crowded the National Mall for the event by comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Satire and laughs ruled the rally, with a rare serious message from Stewart at the end: These are 'hard times, not end times.'
Reporting from Washington — A high-spirited crowd numbering, by some estimates, more than 200,000 swamped the National Mall on Saturday, overwhelming the city's public transportation system as people flocked to what organizers billed as a "comedic call for calm."
LA Times
An estimated 87,000 people attended a rally organized by talk-radio host and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck Saturday in Washington, according to a crowd estimate commissioned by CBS News.

Not sure, but I think they were rallying city voters only -could have been metro-area wide though. I think Toomey/Corbett will win, it may be closer than we expected. The white collar indies are really pissed. And then the rest of the state has all those Reagan democrats, the western PA dems are pissed at Onorato about the booze tax. The unions are coming out strong for Dems, what else is new?
PA will be red again - for a while. I think the state house is going to revert to Republican as well.

Obama was supposed to lower the sea levels, restore the welfare state, give us single payer medical care (which is perfection), make life 100% fair, 200% fair for minorities, and do it all his grandiose celebrity aura and an Andrew Sullivan approved speech. Jobs and work were to be restored with our new found socialist labor/ union order. Corporations were to be returned to their rightful owner, the people! ...or destroyed. Jobs were to pour out of the midnight sky like tears from a rainbow unicorn.

51% of Democrats -- sweet fancy moses that is spectacular!!
The other day I had a Dem at work (or a progressive -- I don't think there are any 'Dems' left. they all went full retard and embraced Obama. Andy old-school Dems now call themselves indies), tell me that we were like SwatchWatches -- a fad only. I told him I didn't see how that was possible when the progs on MSNBC (namely the spittler/leg tingler person) even concede the point that we are a centrist-right country. He said, "NOT TRUE. That's just not true! You people always claim that bullshit". And then he stomped off like the prissy little bitch that he is.
Oh the bitter is certainly strong with this one.

Think you're wrong that Obama is all about adoration. He's a narcissist. He loves the power. And he's also deluded. He loves the power and position, just not actually doing the job he's supposed to be doing. If he were actually about adoration he'd be trying to do more things that people would like instead of doing what he wants and being left tow wander why people aren't happy. His delusion also allows him to believe that he is adored and you can see how pissed he gets when confronted with the reality that he is not being adored, such as when John Stewart actually gave him almost not softball questions during his "interview."
But once stuff like that is over he can go back to his little world of "people really do actually love me completely"

Actually I believe that Huckabee will try to claim that he is "the next guy in line." It is the reason I think he stayed in the primaries as long as he had: to prove that he had some pull in more states. Staying in meant they could tag more people in those states as supporters to use in the next go around.

But will Obama's oversized ego allow him to bow out? That's the question. It may require some prominent party members to have a "talk" with Obama if things do go from bad to worse. Facing another routing of the Democrat Party, perhaps even Obama would finally smell the coff...er, tea.
But, of course, the GOP may do what it often does -- turn victory into manure. If Boehner and his compatriots in Congress do not get the clear message from this election, we may not get to enjoy another Mass Pudding Immersion.

The only miraculous conversion would be resignation. Compare Bill Clinton to President Dude: Clinton was a Governor and knew that he had to do the give and take to get things done. Dude: Vote present. Clinton lost an election and came back again "contrite". Dude: Has never made a political mistake on his way up because he never made any hard choices. Of course the classic Clinton adjustment was in 94, because he saw the writing on the wall and changed what he knew didn't work for him politically (just like Bush did in adopting the Surge in Iraq militarily). Dude: Doesn't even know HOW to make an adjustment even if he perceived the need for one. He'll be all "Full speed ahead."

And, being a product of Chicago politics, he's not used to a lot of questions. His imported gauntlet of imported thugs and hangers-on haven't been able to run interference, not nearly as well as he thought (or was told) they would.
