Poll: Angle, Reid tied at 43
— Gabriel Malor

The first poll to include all the minor contenders shows that the little guys aren't having much impact in the race between Sharron Angle and Harry Reid.

They're tied with 43 percent of the vote, even when the other minor party or non-party candidates are included. There was some concern that sham "Tea Party" candidate Scott Ashjian would siphon votes from Angle, but he's only getting 1 percent. Ashjian gets to use the Tea Party name because he registered it first, though he's not really part of the Tea Party movement.

On momentum watch, it doesn't look like there's much momentum (the last polls also have them tied or within the margin) until you get into the fine print. Angle wins 51 percent of independents, while Reid only get's 31 percent. Two weeks ago she was only ahead by 9 points among independents.

Update 9:48AM: The commenters reminded me that LVRJ sells their content to that little outfit suing everyone, so I've re-written the post. It had completely skipped my mind.

Well if the race is tied 43-43, i would think that 1% is huge.

3 I wonder how they can be tied if both Republicans and Democrats are about equal in Nevada and Angle is blowing Reid away with Independents? Shouldn't Angle have about a 6-7% edge?

12 Gabe, are you trying to get sued? The Las Vegas Journal-Review, through an organization called Righthaven, sues every blogger or website that quotes more than two words of one of its articles. It's even sued Sharron Angle for posting a favorable editorial about her on her campaign's website. It's sued elderly cat bloggers. They demand a $75,000 in damages and the turn-over of your website, as part of scheme to extort $5,000 to $10,000 out of you. CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13 I guess when the people of Nevada want to ask their old senator a question why they can just wait for him to send his DVD:
"[REDACTED due to LVJR content - PA]...

So hillary tore the leading Rick Lazio apart cause he crossed the stage to ask her to sign a soft money pledge and the rest is history.   But it's fine if your senator participates in a debate on a prerecorded video tape, after all, he's way too important to address "the little people".

14 Scott Ashjian is not a TEA partier. He's a Reid crony trying to take votes away from Angle.

The TEA Party Express has already run ads exposing him for the fraud he is.

20 A list of Righthaven's victims (so far) is here: http://righthavenvictims.blogspot.com. As I recall, in one of the suits the blogger had quoted just four sentences out of an eighteen paragraph article. They don't care about fair use. The idea is that fair use usually requires a trial, and bloggers are better off settling than spending $100,000 on vindicating themselves. Quite a few bloggers now refuse to even link to the LVJR.

22 Consider that Reid dumped lots of money into trying to define Angle early. That didn't knock her out, so she now can use her saved/accumulating  funds (and campaign reinforcements) to go on the offensive with her own ad blitz to reemphasize Reid's pathetic performance. Angle's clearly showing she's not "nuts" as she debates cogently and makes the constituency realize that, actually, her kind of "crazy" resonates. The smears didn't work and the harder the Dems press them, the more resistant and belligerent the voters become.

That spread among "nonpartisans" does look like a hidden momentum. I can't believe Team Reid will become more popular between now and The Great Pudding Dip of 2010.

Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at September 24, 2010 05:44 AM (swuwV)

23 Righthaven has special software that scours the web for quotes from (or links to) LVRJ, and sometimes they sue within 24 hours, even after the posts has been taken down. And they never send out a warning letter -- the whole profit-making idea is to file thousands of nuisance suits.

All that legal shit can backfire bigtime. Harley-Davidson started sueing everyone for copyright infringement to the point of trying to copyright the sound of a V-twin engine, which everyone was building. I believe it was Cycle World that said it was too bad that Harley-Davidson the motorcycle wasn't half as fast and reliable as Harley-Davidson the legal department. 2.) Even if he didn't, all he does is make O'Donnell more likely to win.

So it's WIN-WIN here.  Make it happen.  I WANT THAT FRIGGIN' SEAT.

Yeah, but even as a one-in-37 shot, green is STILL three times more likely to happen than this so-called Tea Party candidate's getting your average voter to pull the level in his favor. With the midterm elections less than six weeks away, President Obama and the Democratic Party are suffering from a lack of voter optimism, according to a new Voter Confidence Index created by NBC News and msnbc.com.

Currently, the VCI shows Obama and the Democratic Party in negative territory, with a -38 VCI average for the month of September.

ThatÂ’s eight points worse than where President Clinton and the Democrats stood in 1994, when Democrats lost 54 seats in the House and eight in the Senate. Does that mean Democrats are doomed to repeat 1994? Not necessarily. There were mitigating structural factors in 1994, including more Democratic retirements and an environment that seemed to sneak up on longtime incumbents. Neither is the case this year.

NBC: All of the data shows the Dems will get their asses handed to them and our spin is Nope it's not really that bad

Start chomping on that chapeau, dude.

The real criminals in this case -- including the Mohammedan Mouthpiece and Eric Shabazz Holder -- will skate. So will their lower-level co-conspirators.

After all, Coates is a white man, and therefore racially predisposed to hate all minorities. He is, by birth, a racist.. His testimony will be discounted, and every tiny mistake he has ever made will  be front-page news in the NY Slimes.

Coates's testimony should be enough to start an investigation that would necessarily lead to impeachment proceedings. After all, who is responsible for Holder and all the race-baiters installed at the Department of Justice For Some since January 20, 2009?

Osama Obama, that's who.

But it won't happen. Dead black people have more voting rights that live white people now. And a toothless "investigating" body means nothing.

If careers don't end because of this, it'll be even more historic than if they do. It will mean that the rule of law has been deliberately bifurcated, leaving White Law and Other Law.

Posted by: Lincolntf at September 24, 2010 07:15 AM (EHI/u)

176 Beck is playing what happened at the hearing with Colbert.  Beck is saying they have humiliated Stephen Colbert.

So he was told to come in character.  His character is a conservative, right?  His politics might not be conservative but his character is.  So did the committee invite him so they could essentially diss conservatives by dissing Colbert?  So are they in essence dissing the tea party people who they still think are only conservatives?

I don't think Coates can be refuted. At least not in any fair manner that involves adhering to the law (established American law, that is, not Osama Obama's "law").

Though he hasn't said so, I take what I've heard of Coates's testimony (almost all of it) as tantamount to an indictment of Holder's Baby Panthers in the DoJ.

They need their day in court. And, after that, maybe 10 years as federal guests to think about what they were doing.

Lincolntf,

Exactly right, it is about the rule of law. Look, I believe Ace and Protein Wisdom talk about this stuff all the time, but we've reach a serious turning point here where we have testimony from a number of individuals from the DOJ that rule of law is out the door, it's all about social justice now. If nothing happens with this, the election in November means nothing I believe. If we can't get the American public to think this is a freaking DAMNING issue, it really doesn't matter how the election goes.

In essence, see my nic.

History has only begun to uncover the truly awful -- and illegal -- stuff Bobby was involved in.

Cap'n Ed Morrissey, resemblance to Pilsbury dough boy; therefore Poppin Fresh.

Posted by: Mama AJ at September 24, 2010 11:46 AM (XdlcF)

Lay off  Ed, he's good peoples.  But your Pilsbury reference is apropos to the extent the company was founded in Mpls, MN just a hop skip and a 'you betcaha' away from Ed's Mike Castle in the burbs.

Posted by: journolist at September 24, 2010 07:53 AM (O/NP5)

254 "Poppin' Fresh" is, of course, the Pillsbury Doughboy.

I gave "Captain" Ed Morrissey of Tepid Air that name on two counts. The simple one is based on seeing the pictures of himself he spreads around that blog. But it also has to do with his so-called opinions which, in all but the most severe cases, tend to be soft and squishy.

Kinda like a Pillsbury biscuit, only more so....

255 Oh, and apparently Colbert also attempted to enter pictures of his colonoscopy into the Congressional record.

Yeah.... Comedy Central, I think you're about to find out that America is really not in the mood for this right now, you know?  I mean, really... really... not.

256 Todd Gaziano likes to hear himself talk- he makes statements to Coates, rather than asking a real question.

257 does anybody know a product that will get the commie red out?
Posted by: WalrusRex at September 24, 2010 11:52 AM

Yup.

It's called the Constitution of the United States of America. Apply it fairly and regularly, and the evildoers will lose their power and be appropriately punished. Their treasonous work will swiftly be undone.

Otherwise, the nation will collapse and the Osama Obama dream of vengeance against the very country that has given him so much more than he deserved or earned will become real.

Oh, I didn't call him that, just explained the name.

259 So why was Colbert testifying about anything? I seemed to have missed the beginning of the story...

Speaking of Axelrod:

Liberal Blogger Accuses White House of "Hippie Punching"

The White House yesterday beseeched liberal bloggers to help the administration rally Democratic voters this November, but instead, the Democrats' liberal base decided to let the White House know just how disappointed they are in the administration.

White House senior adviser David Axelrod told liberal bloggers on a conference call yesterday, "You play a great role in informing people about the stakes of elections," the Washington Post's Greg Sargent reports.

Blogger Susan Madrak of the website Crooks and Liars reportedly retorted, "Have you ever heard of hippie punching?" Madrak was referencing a phrase thrown around by bloggers who think the Obama administration has treated its liberal base with disdain.

"You want us to help you, the first thing I would suggest is enough of the hippie punching," she said. "We're the girl you'll take under the bleachers but you won't be seen with in the light of day."

Madrak reportedly implored to Axelrod, "Don't make our jobs harder," to which he replied, "Right back at'cha. Right back at'cha."

< I watched a minute of this jack ass testifying and what a complete fricking mockery of the system.  I look at it as a plus, a fricking Dem from CA, Zoe Lofgren invited this nob.  His opening statement is media gold for Conservative Republicans / Tea Party.

The House judiciary committee is listening to this crap when we have rampant election fraud taking place and a DoJ that is promoting as much through the Obama administration and his AG.

263 The Chair, Gerald Reynolds, finally shut down Gaziano. This Blackwood, general counsel, is pretty good- he already knows the answers to his questions.
Perez and Holder are an embarrassment. Fat boy Yaki is back trying to smear Coates.

265 Now Yaki, Nanzi Pelosi's buttboy, is showing his true colors. Thank goodness Coates seems to have good answers for the fat fuck's irrelevant questions.

Posted by: MrScribbler at September 24, 2010 08:02 AM (Ulu3i)

266 Yaki is now reciting the details of every complaint ever made to the Civil Rights division. What a transparent apparatchik. We'll have to make sure he gets his footnote of attention when the history of this DoJ implosion is written. Thank God Coates is smart, knows the cases, and is not in the least bit distressed by Oddbody's line of inquiry.

267 Did they really expect he would show up, be all serious and some sort of expert on something?

Dude.  Of course they did.  He's of the ruling class, and therefore Our Better.  Man spent a day picking fruit for a bit on his comedy show, which of course makes him an "expert witness."  Said so in his written testimony, which was, of course, utterly different than what he said on camera.

268 Filly - Boric acid is a very common ingredient in eye drops. In fact some eye washes have it as the only ingredient other than water.

272 Coates got in a good swipe at the Civil Rights advocacy groups -- essentially called them out as racists.

273 Fat boy is easily fascinated and puzzled- sort of a Tao concern troll- is working still on the smear of Adams and Coates. Coates is not easily cowed. He is letting Yaki step into looking like a total tool. Yaki keeps interrupting, quoting emails from the very beginning of the NBPP investigation- someone needs to remind him about this.

278 My best friend lives in Las Vegas (yes, I have friends..shut up) and he was at dinner with some neighbors the other night and the Reid/Angle race came up.  This neighbor hates Harry Reid so much he is voting for Angle, he doesn't care, he wants Reid GONE.

He'd vote for a Sharpie pen at this point.  There is an awful lot of hatred in Nevada for Reid.

In 1998 Reid won 47.9% of the vote and his 421 vote margin represented about 0.1% of the votes cast. There was a libertarian candidate who received about 1.8% with 8,044 votes, another 1.8% were cast for None of the above and a fourth party received 0.63%

The 1998 Nevada Senate race took place prior to Harry Reid becoming part of the Democrat leadership. He was rather shameless in his pandering to the voters that year over what his future value to the state would be if he was re-elected, as he was on the cusp of being in a position to start bringing home major bacon to the state. Even with that he only managed to eke out a 421 vote win over John Ensign.

It was after his ascension to the party leadership that his true loathsomeness now came under scrutiny. To his discredit the needs of his constituency takes a distant second or third behind advancing the needs of his national party or advancing the liberal ideology. Those of us who have had to endure this douche nozzle for the last forty years cannot wait to boot his sorry ass to the curb.
