Build the momentum. It's one thing to take polls from people who are a captive audience at home who are repsonding to calls.
But the mark of relative enthusiasm is how early voting is cutting. And it's so far cutting GOP.

The PPP polls in the last month have been wildly out of sync with others. I'm ignoring their polls for now on. It's clear they are putting out misleading numbers based on bad internals.
In fact, we're going to see an awful lot of push polling in the coming two weeks. So it's best not to get worked up when you see a poll showing Carnahan within 5 or Patty pulling away.

An incumbent polling less than 50% after Columbus Day is usually unseated. If Boxer wasn't at 50% by last Monday, she won't get there and will probably be beaten.
That's what history shows, anyway.
There are some other rules of thumb about reading late-in-the-season polling data.
Polls usually tighten up the last two weeks, and then the race usually breaks towards the leader. It's happened time and time again.

I'm willing to bet that their "final" polls in every race will be very different from the ones before. When you go back to see whether pollsters were accurate, you always check the last poll, with the assumption that the ebbs and flows were due to a change in the electorate, not manipulation by the pollster.

I'd put my money on McMahon. The CA and WAS race has always been tight. McMahon has been going all out, running hard hitting ads and really going after Blumenthal in the debates. She wants it, she's fighting for it, and has unlimited funds to do it.

They take those numbers and "normalize" them to what the consider the breakdown in political parties. One of the questions they ask is what Party are you or what Party do you normally vote for? So if they ask 500 people who they prefer in the current race and there are 150 Dems who say they prefer the Dem they will multiply that 150 by the normalization factor that makes the sample the same as their "assumed" breakdown in party strength.
The problem with the PPP poll in PA was that they assumed more Dems voting this year as a percentage than voted in 2008 which was a heavy Dem year. IOW, it is BS. They multiplied the Dem percentages by a huge number to put him slightly ahead.
For some reason they just don't care what their reputation is. It is almost like they are not a serious polling outfit. They are a paid Democrat PR outfit.

I have never been so fired up to vote, and I have been voting for longer than I care to remember. Most years I vote early. This year I plan to vote on election day, in the afternoon, hopefully, when my polling place is packed. I want the full flavor of it all.

Factly, the only race I wasn't happy to vote for was State Superintendent of Education - it was the Teachers Union Candidate vs. the Education Establishment Candidate. They were only competing on which adulty bureaucrats would get the most of the biggest chunk of taxpayer money they could grab. Sucktards.
