President Obama's PR Blunder Is "Purely" His Own Fault Says...White House Official?
— Gabriel Malor

Alternate Headline: Presidential Puppeteer Pans "Purely" Personal Poor Presidential Performance

I get the feeling this guy is miffed that the President disobeyed orders to stay out of the victory mosque business:

President Barack Obama’s decision to make public comments Friday that further stoked an already brewing controversy over the construction of a mosque near ground zero was “purely” his own, an administration official said Saturday.

Obama did not reach out to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who, like Obama, supports the rights of the group to build the religious facility, nor did he delve deeply into the details of the plans for the site, the official said.

Rather, the president made a personal decision to wade into a cultural debate that was consuming the nation. He waited to speak out about his views until after a Manhattan boardÂ’s decision on whether to let the project move forward, the official said, because he did not want to influence that process.

The White House position on the mosque, via Gibbs last week, was that it was a local issue. That's tied with the other 886 stupidest things he's ever said, but it kept the President out of the line of fire and the Democrats on message, so far as they had a message other than "Bush is teh suxxor."

President Obama, on the other hand, couldn't leave it alone. He wanted to make another historic speech -- this time on Freedom of Religion. Unfortunately for him, few Americans saw it that way and it's turned out to be a PR disaster.

Mr. Unnamed White House Official won't let him forget it.

9 Once again, I think we are missing the real point here: Osama Obama is no bumbling, clueless politician. He has a goal clearly in mind, and has decided, it true totalitarian fashion, simply to grab for it and screw anyone who gets in his way.

To treat him as just another boob is to let him continue to get away with furthering his treasonous plans while we stand by and snicker at buffoon Gibbs.

24 "The White House position on the mosque"

I wish we could ask dana perino if any other press secy kept touting this, cause I think by and large they all say "the president's position".  It's really odd cause if you want to get really down to the nitty gritty there can be all kinds of jokes about a building with an opinion....gibsey always makes you think that the president has no say but rather a committee makes the decisions and characterize themselves as "the white house".  I'm surprised, being a Leo, that the president doesn't get pissy about that, about how it appears if you just listen.

This is an interesting paragraph:

Wading into a controversy that other elected officials might have avoided or sidestepped as a “local issue” makes more sense for Obama, given the topic. The interest in what the president thinks about a controversial mosque issue — let alone one tied into the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history — reaches new heights when that presidentÂ’s middle name is Hussein. The question of Obama and his relationship to the Muslim world has been an ongoing discussion in the country since the 2008 campaign.   We're now allowed to mention his middle name & the Islamic connection.

Posted by: Miss'80sBaby at August 15, 2010 03:21 PM (yfJ6g)

Stupidity or ignorance are not reasonable explanations for his actions. I wish just one politician would tell Rauf that perhaps his cultural center is more badly needed in one of the many Islamic nations in which the murder of non-Muslims is a weekly occurrence.  I think we proved our tolerance when we didn't raze every mosque in the country after 9/11.

Obama has spent his entire life in the affirmative action hothouse, being told how brilliant he is even though at best he's been only a poseur and a mediocre intellect.  The butt-licking sank in and Zero truly believes he's got insights into the situation that the lumpenproles can't possibly appreciate.  The fact that 70 percent of the country doesn't see things his way only confirms his unique gifts.  He actually thought he was bestowing divine wisdom on the benighted masses when he announced that the majority of the nation are bigots.

The irony is that his "wisdom" is nothing more than the internalized droppings of a bunch of leftard professors and Potemkin intellectuals.  The guy's never had the seasoning experience that most starry-eyed college grads get in the real world, where they start to realize what a bunch of crap they've been fed by academia.  Obozo is just a dumbfuck preprogrammed leftard robot from the word go.  But you'll never convince him of that.

Several possibilities here for "an administration official":

Rahmbo or more likely one of his Col. Codmans.

Or someone in Biden's office. Obama appears to not like or respect Biden much and vice-versa. Or someone in Hillary's shop at State.

Imo its not anyone in the Axelrove-Jarrett-Gibby camps.

Still, if high-profile easily-avoidable p.r. blunders are chains, then Obama is Jacob Marley right now. He could be under 40% by Christmas.

They are all idiots, but even the biggest retard in the world would have known how Americans were going to react to The Precedent coming out in favor of building the mosque.  ANYONE could have predicted the reaction, and would have.  One cannot blame retardation when the issue in question was easily understandable to the most retarded person on the planet.

The Precedent's stupidity, which is serious, had nothing to do with his decision to piss off America by supporting the mosque at Ground Zero.  It was nothing but pure antagonism on the part of the Indonesian Imbecile.  And it took no brains, at all.  Sowing chaos usually requires the least amount of competence.  That's the beauty of seeking chaos, for incompetent retards like The Precedent.  It's even within their capabilities.

Being a sociopath with severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder is not a strength, it's a weakness.  It means that while yes, he does have cold, calculating plans to destroy the country, he can't resist making yet one more speech, as someone above says, in which he reveals a little more of his true self.  The idea that he could be wrong, or that people will not take kindly to his constant America bashing does not enter into his way of thinking.  He's not making these constant gaffes because it's all part of his grand master plan.  He's making them because he simply does not know any better.

126 Last night I was listening to some talk show and the host was repeatedly criticizing anyone "against the mosque" basically making them seem like stupid narrow minded unAmerican folks.  He said he was supporting their constitutional right to build it.  He also claimed there is another mosque in the neighborhood since 1974 so what was the problem.  (I found myself wondering, since the host said the mosque had outgrown its space, why they didn't just join forces with that mosque and help them, an apparently thriving faith community, who needed a larger space).  Anyway, the guy had caller after angry caller.  Not one in favor and then came the most chilling phone call I'd ever heard.  The caller said "I want them to build the mosque, I want them to build it, so then they will know what it feels like".   click.   the host was taken aback, literally thrown and mumbled something about being too afraid to hand around for a conversation.  None of the callers thereafter, still angry, said a word about that call, nor did the host.  The call is still bothering me.

Let's face it - Barry sees himself as the New World Order president, the Messiah who will lead the rest of the unenlightened into Utopia.  This is him showing the rest of us how truly cosmopolitan and open-minded he is.  I honestly think that he imagines himself leaving this office in 2012 and stepping into a much larger role on the international stage.

He lives in his own little dream world - kind of like our kids do when they are 6 years old - and he can't handle anyone questioning his perceived reality.  It will be interesting to see if he deigns to attend the 2012 inauguration to hand over the keys to the next President.

Given the wording of the new Kenyan constitution, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if at the end of his presidency here in the US, he moves down to Kenya and runs for president down there.  He's just marking time at this point.....

What the caller missed is the fact that they know "what it feels like".  They've been fighting each other (and everyone else unlucky enough to come into contact with them) this same way since the beginning.  They like the way it feels.  Life is very, very cheap in the arab/persian/muslim world.  This is what Westerners can't seem to really wrap their minds around.  What we view as a horror, they just shrug their shoulders.  After all, we are talking about people who have personalities capable of killing their own daughters with their bare hands, if she merely talks to the wrong person.  Westerners have to understand that people who are capable of that sort of savage behavior cannot be dealt with as if they had a Western mindset and Western opinions on life and death.

I'm surprised that no one brought this point up, since it is central to the problem the West has in dealing with the arab/persian/muslim world.

So what do we have?

1) The President of these United States says something that in his 'elite' opinion, is perfectly  correct, but out of step with 60-70% of the population.

2) All the 'right' people agree with him, but his party is in deep trouble at mid-term elections, because his economic policies have turned a recession into a Depression.

3) Someone with an somewhat independent, shrewd mind, say like.....Satan?     or maybe Rahm Emanuel, speaks "unofficially" that the President doesn't agree with the "White House" position.

4) So what is the White House position? Let the Muslims build their mosque. because it pacifies the Saudis, to a degree, and will help keep the oil flowing. That's what it is really about. Keep a lid on the Middle East and keep the oil flowing. That's what Desert Storm, the years on watch over Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom, etc., have all been about, to a degree.  Keep the oil flowing.

5) Hillary!, at State knows this,as does Clinton retainer Rahm Emanuel.  That's what the policy is about.  But Obama just can't keep his mouth shut, and pops off to such a degree that now he has really fanned the flames.

6) Rahm will be gone pretty soon, and Hillary!, after the 2010 mid terms when the Democrats get crushed. The remains of the DLC will turn to Hillary! to run in 2012. To save the party, or some such bull crap nonsense.

7) The ONLY difference between Hillary! and Barack is that Barack has so much contempt for many in this country that he couldn' t help himself in disparaging the many who oppose the mosque.  Because the Islamic call to prayer is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world, and Obama wants New Yorkers to hear it.  Especially at the site of the former WTC. And you are bitter clingers and hateful rascists if you think otherwise.  I think that's what that bastard Jonathon Chait said at the New Republic article that Lacy linked to earlier today.

Westerners have to understand that people who are capable of that sort of savage behavior cannot be dealt with as if they had a Western mindset and Western opinions on life and death.

I understand this point to a degree.  Get that they don't respect life the way we do.  But if life is cheap to them, then why the thirst for revenge when their own are killed?

To me, Islam seems to be all about conformity and control.  Think, act, believe the way we tell you to do, or die (within their own society as well as outside it).  For some reason any divergence of thought or behavior threatens them to the core.  Our way of life values individualism and freedom, exactly the opposite of theirs.

135 I understand this point to a degree. Get that they don't respect life the way we do. But if life is cheap to them, then why the thirst for revenge when their own are killed?
Because they aren't seeking revenge for the lives lost. They don't really care about that. They are seeking revenge to alleviate the shame that was brought on them by the killings. This is what I mean by saying that their motivations are totally different from what Westerners would usually think. Empathy fails miserably when it is used for cultures that are so different from ours.

Exactly. We are based on Individualism/Guilt/Atonement while they are based on Tribalism/Shame/Revenge. But, Westerners naturally see individualistic motivations for everyone's actions, since that is how we think, and that is where tons of confusion comes in - and where our effectiveness in neutralizing the threats that emanate from the arab/persian/muslim world falls down.

When I heard one say that maybe palin was right I damn near pissed myself. There were a group of 20 year olds there that were totally pissed about everything from them not qualifying for school aid that illegals will get, to pissing away money in haiti while we have so many unemployed, to taxes. etc The one chick in her 40's that I knew to be the biggest moonbat was actually worried that this jug eared fuck might win a second term.

It was an unbelievable sight. Obama is dog shit on their shoes.

137 President Barack Obama’s decision to make public comments Friday that further stoked an already brewing controversy over the construction of a mosque near ground zero was “purely” his own, an administration official said Saturday.

I know that several people have alluded to this already (what can I say? Your boy Masturbatin' Pete is always late to the party - he's got a lot of stuff to handle), but I have to say... this is the single weirdest statement I've ever heard to come from a White House official. It's just completely upside-down.

Normally what happens is that an underling or a Cabinet Secretary says something dumb, and acolytes, the Cabinet Secretary, or even the President himself have to say something to put distance between the statement and the official "White House" position. That's not the way it works with the President. Whatever the President says is the official White House position on the issue. Sure, the President can amend it, or try to walk it back. Underlings can attempt to explain it away. But to say that what comes out of the President's mouth is "purely" his own opinion? That's flabbergasting. It's as if the Obama Administration is some sort of committee, and no member of the committee - even its Chairman - can speak without authorization. So weird!

I see what you are saying, POP.  It's a bit depressing though, because if the two cultures can't come to some common understanding, then one must win and one must lose, and that's a long and ugly battle.  It's hard to see a common understanding when you have live-and-let-live (us) up against live-and-let-die (Islam).  Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insights about this.

140 An ugly thought comes to mind: is it possible that Obama was chosen as the dem candidate just to get these unpopular bills through? Anyone who disagred would earn the "racist" label, and be shamed into silence. Now, Obama is so obviously a dolt that he makes Hilary much more palatable than she would have been in 2008, simply because she is not Obama.

Hmm, I suppose that this could be an attempt to give Democrat House and Senate candidates room to distance themselves from Obama: "this is just Obama speaking; it's not the position of the Democratic Party in general, and you shouldn't assume that it's the position of any given Democrat."

The hell of it is that this may actually be true. Almost any time you've got 70% of the public going in one direction on an issue, a significant portion of Democrats are going to be in the mix.

Then again, if they were going for an "Obama-doesn't-speak-for-all-Democrats" message, this was just clumsy. Come out and say it. Don't try to explain it as if Obama is the Secretary of the Interior, and he wandered off-message. The President is always on-message.

Agree 100%.  And of course, who knows what the hell Zero or the WH really mean anytime they speak.  It's like a wilderness of mirrors.

What Mr. Unnamed White House Official meant to say was that President Zero acted "stupidly".

Of course he is about to be Mr. Ex-Unnamed White House Official.

144 I asked such a thing in a discussion on a lefty blog: "In the meantime, I would encourage those who enthusiastically endorse this mosque to ask themselves how much of their endorsement is really about how much they despise those opposed to it rather than an honest belief that itÂ’s just a really good idea to build that particular type of building right there."

145 Can you imagine the scrambling the KGB (whatever they call themselves now) is having to do to keep up with all of the opportunities the jugearedfuck has gifted them? I bet that Putin never thought in his wildest of dreams we would have the most incompetent fool possible as our 'leader'.
Sad part is, this idiot will probably lead us into a major war and probably sooner than later.

If he's consistent, he'd do that in order to distract the citizenry from revolt.

It seems our Democrat Presidents are of the persuasion for that exact move.

At least the Bush Presidents responded to attacks they had nothing to do with. And I just don't buy anyone's argument that the Bush Presidents instigated foreign turmoil in order for the tragedy of Islamic War to ensue.

But THAT is exactly what Obama is doing consistently as he defrocks our true national security via military downsizing, while simultaneously ordering our troops to remain vulnerable, while dismantling our alliances and feeding NASA (the military's research institution) to our foes. And that doesn't even address the ailments Obama has instituted domestically against American citizenry, the final dissolution of our Constitutional Republic.

151 Just when I thought that we couldn't ever again get a president as bad as Wilson, FDR and Carter, we get Obama. We get those loonies in 30-year cycles. Wonder if it has something to do with the fluoridation of our water.

152 I will never tolerate anything that officially wants me dhimmi or dead.  Its akin to asking us to tolerate the KKK, or more precisely, an Aryan church.  I have nothing against Islam except what it has against me.

I'm not sorry if that statement makes anyone uncomfortable.  Death and taxes do that to me.

153 ZerOBama's Mosque fiasco shows what happens if you work hard at your golf and vacation game, and have too little time to know what you are doing on anything else...

It's like someone fed OGod an over stuffed bean burrito, he enters a crowded  room, lets one go, and expects no one to notice, or even object...
