— Jack M. The Best. Candidate. Evah keeps getting bettah and bettah.
See? I spelled "better" as "bettah" because that's how they say it in Massachusett[e]s. As Harry Reid might say, there is a distinct New England dialect in play, and I'm trying to capture it to make my writing more vivid and lifelike. I want my writing to pop like Curt Schilling's fastball did back when he, Reggie Jackson and Billy Martin were the three legs of the Bronx Zoo stool.
But I digress. My real point is this: I can only name one "news personality" that isn't on Fox News. That personality? Nancy Grace.
And what does Nancy Grace broadcast around the clock? Stories about missing kids and parental kidnappings.
Now I don't watch her show, but I do occasionally date women who do. As a result, I get the feeling that Grace's broadcast appeals to a certain demographic group that is clamoring for a nighttime show like "Oprah After Dark". Based on my limited demograhic research, I'm pretty sure that most of the women who watch these shows aren't real fond of kidnappers.
But you know who appears to be? Attorney General Martha Coakley!
Back in 1999, Coakley was district attorney for Middlesex County near Boston. She approved a plea deal that allowed Palm Beach socialite Stephen Fagan to avoid prison after kidnapping his daughters in a 1979 custody fight and hiding them from their mother until 1998.
Fagan, who reinvented himself in Palm Beach as Dr. William Martin, said he took the girls from Massachusetts to Florida to protect them from an alcoholic mother who was endangering their lives — a claim the mother disputed. The girls were raised believing their mother had been killed in a car crash.Fagan pleaded guilty in a Massachusetts court in 1999 and paid a $100,000 fine, served five years probation and performed 2,000 hours community service at the VA Medical Center in Riviera Beach.
What, oh what, would Nancy Grace say about this? I bet it wouldn't be very nice. She seems like a kinda tough lady. I bet she wouldn't have let some guy off the hook for kidnapping just because he was a well-connected "socialite", would she?
'Cause like I say, I don't watch Grace's show, so I don't know what she would do. I do know that Martha Coakley would though.
And that's as obvious as red blood on a white sock.

Nitpicking:
She was the Middlesex County DA, Boston is in neighboring Suffolk County.
This state is horrible when it comes to holding criminals accountable for crimes against children. The DA's are a big part of the problem along with our appointed for life hack judges.

What does the "typical" blood father kidnapper in a custody case get? I have seen past cases where in a rare event the father was given custody and the child was kidnapped by the mother and she got NO punishment by the court.
What did the court have to say about the plea bargain?

It's not really the same thing as illegals. There would be plenty of available records of his existence in this country and people that knew him, especially working as an MD. Plus I think the kids would be apt to blurt out where they were from at some point unless they were really really young when he kidnapped them.

Demonstrating your flaming ignorance about the single most important cultural event in the last 100 years of MA history, and doing so by inadvertently insulting Schilling with the exact opposite of what that event stood for (the man who came to singlehandedly symbolize pwning the Yankees to Reverse the Curse? New York Sen. Charles Schumer, who famously hammered then-Sen. Alfonse D'Amato for calling him a "putz-head" in their hot 1998 campaign, was accused Thursday of stepping into the gutter himself after he sent out a fundraising e-mail in which he called Massachusetts Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown a "far-right tea-bagger."
"Chuck has a way of saying things that I don't think he really understands or means, and it's unfortunate," Brown told Fox News Thursday when asked about the e-mail. "I'm not into name-calling. ... so shame on Chuck."
Stay classy Charlie.

John Kasich names running mate in Ohio gov's race; sounds like Palin and is easy on the eyes, too.
State Auditor Mary Taylor:
"Ohioans are correct to ask, does government spend my tax dollars responsibly... despite my repeated warnings about a looming multi-billion dollar budget hole, and the dangers of over-relying on one-time state and federal stimulus money, I've been ignored. I've tried to help. I've offered solutions. But our Governor is a hard guy to help.John Kasich and I believe, that government should only do that with which they are unable to do for themselves. We know that if government gets out of our way, businesses will create jobs here in Ohio and we will prosper."

Another story being ignored by most of the media. This from Fox (note no credit to AP at all). The one world government is moving on with plans top enact a worldwide tax.
The headline at Fox: U.N.'s World Health Organization Eyeing Global Tax on Banking, Internet Activity
The World Health Organization (WHO) is considering a plan to ask governments to impose a global consumer tax on such things as Internet activity or everyday financial transactions like paying bills online.
If Obambi signed this into a treaty it would be blatantly unconstitutional. But he will probably do it anyway.

Maybe when our lawmakers are "above their pay grade" they should be able to recognize that and either seek tutoring from guys like Gasparino and his guests or have those who really have a grasp of what went down at the time ask the questions. They would accomplish a lot more and we, as a nation, might be a lot closer to knowing what is coming down the pike.

From Don Surber, Obamacare Desperation:
The clock is striking midnight on our Cinderella president. His coachmen and unicorns are reverting back to mice and pigs. The centerpiece of his hope and change is turning into a pumpkin.
Three words strike fear into the presidentÂ’s heart: Senator Scott Brown.
The New York Times reported: “Mr. Obama spent more than six hours with Democratic leaders on Wednesday, slipping in and out of health care talks to coordinate a response to the earthquake in Haiti. He spent much of Thursday in health care talks, ducking out in the evening to address House Democrats and attend his daughter Malia’s band recital (she plays flute) and then returning to the negotiating table until 1 a.m., shortly before the group recessed for the night.”
His mandate for change has an expiration date. Oddly it comes on the 365th day of his first year — Tuesday, January 19th, 2010.
The election of a Republican to succeed Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy would be a fitting ironic end to this attempt to shove through an idea that Americans have rejected for 98 years, going back to the Bullmoose Party.
I don't care who you are. That's funneh.

It's a real toss up when deciding the biggest female liberal buffoon, Martha Coakley, Barney Fwank, Sheila Jackson Lee, Nancy Pelosi, or Cymphia McKinney?
What about me and my stupid hats?

From Fox:
Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, told Bloomberg this week that Democrats are still considering reconciliation, a tactic that allow certain legislation to pass in the Senate with just 51 votes, or a simple majority. The House Ways and Means Committee structured the bill so the Senate could tuck the legislation into the annual budget spending package, leaving the door open to reconciliation.
It is obvious now that they think they are going to lose MA. Remember the gang of 14 that negotiated away the nuclear option to get 1 (yes that's one) judge up for a vote while the Dems continued to block all the rest.
They were afraid it would give the Dems the opening to use the nuclear option. Hahahahahaha

Comments from Crazy Land:
A Sullivan reader writes:
I'm trying to remain hopeful Martha Coakley will win the election next Tuesday, but that is difficult to do when listening to radio talk shows. I'm not talking about the right wing talk shows, I'm talking about the respected middle-of-the-road shows on WBZ-AM radio in Boston. My god, there is so much anger out there...
Hmmm, could it be Barack Obama and the Democrats are generating that anger? No, that is too easy, lets blame Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh instead.
This Sullivan reader however is no fan of Coakley:
Let me suggest that if you view torture as an unacceptable human rights violation, you should be mortified by Coakley. The blurb you excerpt from Radley Balko's piece didn't address the most troubling case from Coakley's career---the Amirault case. Any prosecutor that would continue to press the Amirault case in light of what was known when Coakley took it over is a bigger threat to human rights than Scott Brown. And I would seriously question the commitment to human rights of anyone who didn't feel the same way.
If you're wondering how Coakley truly feels about the rights of terror suspects from across the globe, you might want to look at how she felt about the rights of the accused when it came to people living in her own county.
I agree with that. Coakley is a scary scary person willing to crush anyone to get ahead. Will Sullivan acknowledge it? Of course not, he has not even acknoweledged that Obama has for the most part followed most of George Bush's foriegn policies.
Andrew Sullivan sums up his views as such:
The Republican party right now is largely bonkers. The Democratic party is a lily-livered hackfest of mediocrity. I remain of the view that Obama is the best thing going for this country. But between the insanity on the right and incoherence on the left, he is marooned in a lonely center. Maybe in the long run, this is a better place to be. Right now it is making governance close to impossible, at a moment when we need all hands on deck.
That comment induced me to protectile vomit on the cat.
There is of course a solution for Andrew. No one is forcing him to live here.

Democracy in Action Blog:
This campaign is bringing out the best in MA. I spent several hours tonight making phone calls for Scott Brown from Worcester, and the people on both ends of the phone were absolutely amazing. The enthusiasm and energy from all of the Brown supporters is what is fueling this campaign, and the dedication and commitment of all the volunteers is going to drive this campaign straight to victory. This election is making history, and each and every one of us are going to be a part of something absolutely incredible. Your vote has never counted more.
Let your voice be heard loud and clear- from Springfield, Worcester, Boston- all the way to Washington, D.C. Our message will echo throughout the country and initiate the change we need to see in Washington.
Tomorrow my brother, father, and I will be making a home-made Scott Brown sign for our front lawn. The campaign offices are trying to keep up with the very high demand for lawn signs, bumper stickers, etc. If you are able to, please try to make your own! Use your creativity, and let everyone know why you're voting for Brown in your own voice. Later in the day
I'm planning on heading back to the phone bank to continue making calls. It really is such a rewarding experience, and the best way for Brown supporters to make a difference. We need to get the word out, and remind everyone to vote this TUESDAY, January 19th!
I would like to thank Scott Brown for running a campaign of integrity. As Martha Coakley and the Democrats continue to make tasteless attacks on Brown, I encourage my fellow Brown supporters to keep our message focused. This election is unfolding before the eyes of the nation; let us bring honesty and responsibility back to Washington by starting here. Scott Brown's position on important issues such as health care, national security, and the economy speak for themselves.
Speak up, get the word out, and let your voice be heard.
I'm Kayla Berube, I'm 20 years old, and I can't wait to vote for Scott Brown because this is the only change I can believe in.

New Resident Blog:
I lost respect for Martha Coakley when she resorted to twisting Scott Brown's beliefs or votes, as well as when she began running negative adds when the heat was on. What will she do when the heat is on in D.C?
Moreover, my mind was made up after watching the last debate. In one of her answers, well, I should say response- in one of her responses she did not have an answer. In another, she clearly showed she does not understand terrorism, the threat or severity of terrorist groups, and their ability to cause much harm. Martha Coakley not only does not understand it, she dismisses this actual threat. That in itself is frightening. It is also a direct punch to the millions who have fought for freedom from terrorists all over the world and those who still fight to lessen their capability to repeat September 11, 2001 as well as other horrfic acts commited. Her dismissal is a punch to all who have given their lives to flush out terrorists groups. Her dismissal of terrorism even goes against what our own President believes is a grave threat. Yet, he supports her campaign. Odd? No. Just politics.
Martha Coakley's debate performance, negative ads, negative comments, her twisting during the debate, of what the bills truly meant that Scott Brown signed, her lack of understanding and dismaissal of terrorism, and lack of realizing what the average person wants from their senator, I believe, disqualifies Martha Coakley as the proper candidate.
Oh, and her negative ad about rape and abortion/healthcare--Do any of you realize what percentage of rapes actually result in a pregnancy? Rare. Very rare. It is her right to be for and advocate abortion. However, it is not okay for her to use rape victims as a platform for twisting the truth about her opponent. As a woman I would think Ms. Coakley would spend more time on helping rape victims who did not become pregnant, but still suffer, than running false ads claiming that Scott Brown would deny them health care.
Massachusets needs to vote for Scott Brown. Yes, a new resident I may be, but I'm full of hope that no matter what party you stand for, you will vote for the most qualitfied, humble, and understanding candidate of the average person's world, their children, and their future. The reality is; That person is Scott Brown.
So, please, let your voices be heard if you believe the same. If you hope the same as I do, Massachusets needs Scott Brown. The United State needs someone like Scott Brown. Vote for Scott Brown. A fresh face, a family man, with solid ideas and plans... Not the same old politics.

That's as close as anyone in the "educated class" ever gets to crying "Uncle". Proclaim that even though they're still obviously 100% right, there's no point in arguing because everyone on every side other than theirs is insane or stupid.
Liberals, moderates and conservatives all disagree with Obama, therefore he must be right (and he must be in "the center", which is as funny and tin-eared a line as I've ever seen on the Internet).

Legal Insurection has a photo of Coakley's latest mailer, which Politico and others have reported on as well.
It reads: "1,736 women were raped in Massachusetts in 2008. Scott Brown wants hospitals to TURN THEM ALL AWAY."
Yes, it actually says that. This from the women who turned loose a guy who raped a 23 month old baby with a hot curling iron. A COP no less.

The Corner:
E-mails from Up North [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
From Hyannis:
I couldn't convince my young son to brave the crowd, but we drove down Main Street, Hyannis where the rally was held and couldn't believe all the signs and the support for Scott Brown. It was even bigger than the tea party held on the Hyannis rotary last year. I think we can do it!
And from Concord:
- Just back home (to ConcordMA) from Littleton MA campaign office. Every phone there is in use. Yesterday's delivery of 1000 yard signs is all gone. Office now organizing door-to-door efforts for volunteers who continue to show up minute to minute.- At home, had two Brown robo calls within half hour of returning home. One from Curt Schilling that lets Coakley have it for calling him a Yankee fan; makes point that she is out of touch with the real world of Massachusetts citizens. One from Brown daughter Ayla that slams Coakley's negative attacks. Both calls, I think, effective.
- Just received email from campaign inviting folks to rally in Worcester tomorrow to offset Obama visit. Rally details:
Mechanics Hall
321 Main Street Worcester, MA
Doors open at 3:00 PM –Rally Begins at 3:30 PM
- Driving home, listened as the "liberal" half of a two man WTTK (talk radio) team announced his support for Brown, citing his disgust at Coakley for failing to accept many invitation to use his air to make her case to voters.
- Even here in Concord, MA, Coakley lawn signs are a rare sight.
This has the feel of a Brown blowout

Instructions to quickly chill beverages:
1) Fill cooler 1/2 to 2/3 with beverage containers, leaving space between said containers.
2) Fill spaces between containers with ice. Continue adding ice until containers are covered with a layer of ice.
3) Fill cooler with water to a level above the top of the beverage containers.
4) Rock/slosh ice-water mixture.
Beverages in aluminum cans will be ice cold in five minutes. Those in glass bottles will take a few minutes longer. Overly vigorous agitation is to be avoided. No salt is needed.

Close, but not exactly correct.
Get bucket, put beer in it, fill ice around beer, DO NOT put any water in the bucket. Pour salt around beer, spin beer. As you do the salt will melt the ice and take the temp below 32 degrees. Like making Ice Cream. Spin about 30 times or until you need to add more ice. It will freeze the beer if you keep at it.
In Vetinam, blocks of ice where dropped and warm beer, no pop tops, beer spun on ice cold enought to drink after about a minute.

241 Kemp, that's exactly what we used to do, only we did it in VietNam, which I think was probably warmer than Vetinam. That was seared in my memory.
The big question is what Brown will do when the democrats steal the election. Just because it doesn't look like it'll be close doesn't mean they won't try to slip something by, then take advantage of the fait accompli. That has worked so well for them in recent past I don't really know when, if ever, we will have an actual election again, where the votes are counted, and, you know, the guy who gets the most votes wins. The big clue to their strategy is that they have been accusing the republicans of stealing elections. Hacking the machines is a possibility, as well as "finding" extra ballots in abandoned cars and closets. Scott, what will you do when that happens? They have broadcast their strategy already. I'm tired of watching the republicans be good losers.

If you want to do it that way, I makes a great deal of difference in how fast things cool if you're willing to crush the ice first.
In an ice slurry, everything in the slurry is completely touching something that's at zero Celsius. You can get the total average temperature in an icebox lower by using pure ice, but you should be able to get faster cooling with the slurry.
Of course, there's far more dry ice and liquid nitrogen in the proper method.

OK, I' am beginning to get the feeling that this is a trap. We elect Brown, the country breaths a great gasp of relief, hope springs forth that we can actually turn back the Obamatard tide, the economy starts to spring back to life in the belief that Health Care and Cap and Tax and all the rest will be defeated and then guess who claims the credit for the recovery,,, Welcome to 4 more years.
