Public: Hey, Can We Get a Timetable for When You'll Be Releasing the Numbers for Actual Obamacare Sign-Ups?
Jay Carney: Nah, Bro

— Ace

Wheels are in motion, though, and the check is in the mail.

“I don't have a timetable for when that would happen,” he added.

Carney also noted that the timeline for releasing demographic information and details, such as who among the 7.5 million have paid their first month's insurance premium, is different than the timing for the administration's push to have the Senate confirm Sylvia Mathews Burwell as the next HHS secretary.

I Currently Have No Estimates

...as to whether my promise to not do That Thing in your mouth is still operative.

Oh shit. I've gone and done it.

M'bad.

32 Rush did a big segment on this very topic today. The administration... rather than use the enrollment numbers from the Insurance Industry.... is using the CENSUS BUREAU to poll folks out there so they can come with the much more *useful* number of uninsured people. Which will.... of course.... go down because..... in 2009 control of the the Census Bureau was moved from the Commerce Secretary to "direct control of the White House".

34 It's really, really hard to find all of Lerner's email. Maybe we could do it in 5 years if we rushed the redaction. But you rush redaction and you get low quality redaction. We do have exciting news about our new program that scours all public social media to see if you are lying about your taxes. That program can now produce all social media posts by any taxpayer in under 15 seconds. It's weird how the emails from one employee can be so much harder to locate than all the social media posts from hundreds of millions of American taxpayers. But sometimes life is weird like that.

Similarly, for the AMA to now bitch about Obamacare screwing doctors over, after the AMA having backed Obamacare in the first place, does not sit well.

Corruption is a survival mechanism for those who do not have the skills or raw aptitude to compete fairly.

Since fair competition is never fair to them, they see corruption as a just way to even the odds against those who must have cheated to win.

This way they don't have to admit that 1) they are inferior to others and 2) they could never be successful in a truly neutral environment.

143 I have to say, the surgeons I work with are busy. They know that this law sucks, and they aren't happy. They are, however, overwhelmed with the day to day complexities of being heart surgeons. The chief of cardiac surgery, God bless him is ever so sweet and naïve. He was all excited when Congress called Lois Lerner to come back and testify. He thought for sure she was going to break. I had to break the sad news to him when I returned from my lunch break that she had pleaded the 5th (again). He was so disappointed. A lot of the good docs are just trying to take care of their patients and stay above water. Specialty surgeons have very stressful and demanding jobs. They need to keep up with their journals and all the latest research, etc. They have to take care of very sick patients. They have the added burden of running their practices and brining in money to pay off their school debts, overhead, etc. They do not have time to get involved in politics. I have a theory that the doctors who do have time are mostly leftists because they aren't very good and have the time.

162 TANSTAFL - and the .gov makes damn sure of it! http://tinyurl.com/ku6f9nl The Internal Revenue Service is considering a bold move to label perks like free lunch given to workers by companies as taxable. The agency wonders if freebies like haircuts and gym memberships are a way to compensate the highly skilled rather than just a way to jumpstart productivity. Companies say it would be a step too far that needlessly chips away most notably at the fruitfulness of industries in Silicon Valley that have become a driving force behind the American economy. 'I clearly think it ought to be taxable income,' University of Florida tax law professor Martin J. McMahon, Jr. told the Wall Street Journal. After all, argue proponents of such a tax, workers at Silicon Valley firms like Google and Facebook receive free meals from famously fancy in-house eateries every day. Some companies even go a step further by offering freebies like haircuts, car services, and child care. Typical workaday folks can expect to pay for all these using their fully taxed wages, an argument at the heart of the agency's reason for pondering the added tax. 'I buy my lunch with after-tax dollars,' McMahon told the WSJ. 'And I have to pay taxes to support free meals for those Google employees.' Huh?

200 All top tech companies in the Bay Area have free 24-hour cafeterias staffed by world-class chefs. Seriously. Microsoft doesn't provide free lunch, but it's subsidized and they provide unlimited, free beverages of the non-alcoholic variety. They also will have free concerts, free bowling or outings as morale events, ship parties, etc. It's a lot of stuff to encourage the people who work there to stay late and do a good job. They use their perks (including their once awesome extremely generous healthcare benefits--they actually started cutting back on those this year) to recruit and retain people. Google here does the free lunches as does my other friend's company (a much smaller business). It's a competitive market. To all these whiners that are saying "it isn't fair", go get educated and try and land a job at one of these places instead of whining about it. Why do a bunch of whiners have to ruin things for other people? Why not focus on themselves and better their own lot in life instead of trying to take other people down? (That's a rhetorical question). Sadly, Precedent You Didn't Build that has made success unpalatable and compensation for hard work a scarlet letter stigma. (Not to mention what he's been doing for race relations). We have the most petulant, divisive, unprofessional, ideologue hack in the WH ever. It's absolutely breath taking that anyone who actually works hard for a living could support this tool.

It's consumed on the job and probably pooped out there too. The companies are trying to extend the work day and get people to stay on campus during lunch (so they aren't wasting time going off) and stay late (so they can still have dinner even though they are staying late). I call it an incentive. It's not something they can sell to someone else for profit (like ammo) or cash. It's a recruitment and retention tool, and it keeps people physically at the campus.

The company could come up with a "price" for each meal, say $10, even though the price to fix and serve is only $5. Thus, the employees get a tangible benefit that others cannot receive and don't pay taxes on it.
