Q: Obama's "big problem"?
A: Fox News

— Purple Avenger

Its not 15 million unemployed, or trillion dollar deficits stretching as far as the eye can see, or Democrat bloodbath coming this November, or the insane pushing of wildly unpopular legislation, or that every promise comes with an expiration date, or singularly uninspired foreign policy, or pervasive corruption problems in the Democrat party. No, its Fox fracking News baby.

..."Obama's big problem," a senior Democrat told me, "is that four times as many people watch Fox News as watch CNN."...
With little rest, it pours out rage 24 hours a day: its message is of the construction of the socialist state, the hijacking of America by "progressives" who now dominate institutions, the indoctrination of children, the undermining of religion and the expropriation of public money for these nefarious projects. The public loves it, and it is manifestly stirring up political activism against Mr Obama, and also against those in the Republican Party who are not deemed conservatives.

3 Perhaps all of these liberals might want to ask themselves why more and more people are turning on Fox and abandoning CNN, MSNBC, etc.  The stats don't lie...ratings are sinking on those networks and correspondingly rising for Fox.

The wisdom of crowds...it's a lot stronger than the wisdom of liberals.

Gosh, and why would that be?  I can already see Obama putting some kind of penalty or tax on Fox for having the nerve to attract so many viewers.  (Or giving CNN and MSNBC some kind of bailout so that they can "compete" as it's "not fair" for so many people to be watching one channel.)  Unbelievable.

48 In other words, Obama's biggest problem is TV shows. That's because his expertise does not lie in anything presidential, but in ginning up a faux frankness for the consumption of the most gullible in the television viewing audience. I am so glad I unplugged my cable a couple years ago. I go to C-SPAN or to justin.tv if I want to see anything televised, which is pretty uncommon. I would venture to guess that most people who, like me have their cable TV turned off, are completely mystified as to what really attracts people about this unaccountable dude and his unaccountable wife who somehow made it to the Oval Office.

To the liberal mind, removing opposing viewpoints is just as valid a solution as out arguing them. Better actually, because from their viewpoint, the 'stupid, moronic conservatives' seem to always be able to get the 'stupid, moronic public' on their side whenever actual issues are being discussed.

Another great money quote from this liberal paper:

The $783 billion stimulus package of a year ago was used to further the re-election prospects of many congressmen, not to do good for the country. America's politics remain corrupt, populated by nonentities whose main concern once elected is to stay elected; it seems to be the same the whole world over. Even this self-interested use of the stimulus package appears to have failed, however. Every day, it seems, another Democrat congressman announces that he will not be fighting the mid-term elections scheduled for November 2.

Whitey has caused all the problems in the world, specifically white men, although we can push the envelope to include white women.

Democrats and Blacks SOLVE problems, they do not CAUSE them. And if there are problems plaguing Blacks, they are obviously not caused by their own actions. They are Perpetual Victims.

Just ask the people in Detroit. They'll let you know, they're minorities (even though 95% of Detroit is Black) and their leaders (who are all Black) have been getting the shaft from The Man for years.

Glorious.  The Libtards are always haranguing the rest of us about finding the "root causes" of problems, yet they refuse to do it themselves (just like every other time they get holier-than-thou).  Their failure to properly diagnose the cause of their problems means that they are doomed to fail in their efforts to fix those problems.  This is great in terms of the next election, but also probably means that those idiots will plow ahead with their commie BS and stuff it down our collective throat.  If they can, that is.  Let us hope there are enough decent Republicans and defecting Dems to stall these Bolsheviks until they can be voted out (assuming that we're allowed to have any more elections).

its message is of the construction of the socialist state, the hijacking of America by "progressives" who now dominate institutions, the indoctrination of children, the undermining of religion and the expropriation of public money for these nefarious projects. The public loves it, and it is manifestly stirring up political activism against Mr Obama, and also against those in the Republican Party who are not deemed conservatives.

WOW...and I thought they didn't get it. This is all true and the public loves it BECAUSE of its truth! Cannot they see that piece? The one about that the public really does want all of the liberal progressive crap to stop?

101 3 The wisdom of crowds...it's a lot stronger than the wisdom of liberals.

That notion is totally foreign to progressives.  In fact, it is a distinctly American notion (see, for example, the thread on AoS over the weekend about direct election of our leader vs. the European model).

It makes sense though, when you consider what type of people make up the Democratic party's base.  It's (a) people who think they are the smartest in the room, and (b) non-productive morons who pay no taxes.  The class 'a' group sees the "people" as comprised of class 'b' types... and nobody wants them near the levers of power.  The Tea Party attracts the vast middle of America that are neither (a) giant douches, or (b) freeloaders.

111 Their problem is their policies. Foxnews is a problem because they examine those policies and explain them, to some extent, through their comment shows. The problem Zero has is that he doesn't control the media completely. And he doesn't have the power to control it. So his lies get exposure, and he doesn't much like it. Fox is doing the job (though with less zeal than many here would like, including me) the other news outlets refuse to do, report what is actually happening in government. Fox News is not yet a tool of the left, and is therefore the enemy of the left. They cannot stand exposure, as it will be their undoing.

112 I love the causal analysis here. People watch Fox news, and Fox news is conservative => opposition to liberalism.

Apparently this individual member of the "educated class" missed his class on logic and causal analysis. Here let me mark up your answer by starting with the correct analysis.

America is principally conservative
=> opposition to liberalism (or progressiveness or whatever you want to call communism this week)

And

Fox news is a business and wants to make money
=>

Fox takes a conservative tack in reporting the news=>
More people watch Fox than liberal bias news=>
Fox makes more money.

you see, you failed to trace the reason why Fox is conservative back to market decisions and assumed it as given, also you identified Fox's popularity as a given and failed to trace back WHY it is so popular.

So given that you did your analysis backwards, starting with logical conclusions and using them to reverse reason to logical given facts, I am going to have to remark that your backwards attempt at logical thinking was a 6th Trimester, strangle in the crib style, abortion. Your grade for this causal analysis exercise is

From the article: A thrashing of the Democrats in the mid-terms would not necessarily be the beginning of the end for Mr Obama: Bill Clinton was re-elected two years after the Republicans swept the House and the Senate in November 1994. But Mr Clinton was an operator in a way Mr Obama patently is not. His lack of experience, his dependence on rhetoric rather than action, his disconnection from the lives of many millions of Americans all handicap him heavily. It is not about whose advice he is taking: it is about him grasping what is wrong with America, and finding the will to put it right. That wasted first year, however, is another boulder hanging from his neck: what is wrong needs time to put right. The country's multi-trillion dollar debt is barely being addressed; and a country engaged in costly foreign wars has a President who seems obsessed with anything but foreign policy – as a disregarded Britain is beginning to realise.

There are lessons from the stumbling of Mr Obama for our own country as we approach a general election. Vacuous promises of change are hostages to fortune if they cannot be delivered upon to improve the living conditions of a people. The slickness of campaigning that comes from a combination of heavy funding and public relations expertise does not inevitably translate into an ability to govern. There is no point a nation's having the audacity of hope unless it also has the sophistication and the will to turn it into action. As things stand, Barack Obama and America under his leadership do not.

The root of the problem is that Obama was and is unqualified to be President.  But Obama did not go through the crucible of having his background and beliefs tested by a skeptical media.  Instead, the media treated Obama with love and adoration, and failed.

Now we are stuck with an arrogant ass who doesn't know squat but is so caught up in his own press that he believes he can do no wrong.

Q: Obama's "big problem"?
A: Fox News

Nothing a lobotomy wonÂ’t fix.  That is why everybody gets FREE healthcare, including mandatory ‘treatmentÂ’, as determined by gobbermin officials.  They are there only to help us.

170 "With little rest, it pours out rage 24 hours a day: its message is of the construction of the socialist state, the hijacking of America by "progressives" who now dominate institutions, the indoctrination of children, the undermining of religion and the expropriation of public money for these nefarious projects. The public loves it, and it is manifestly stirring up political activism against Mr Obama, and also against those in the Republican Party who are not deemed conservatives." And what is wrong with this?

Brilliant. No matter what the issue the Dims have one size fit all talking points. Bush and Fox News excuses are on their speed dial

175 Can someone translate the latinese for a brutha?

It is the famous saying of Cato the Elder.  It means "Carthage must be destroyed."  Cato would use it in all of his speeches even if the topic had nothing to do with the great rivalry between Rome and Carthage.

176 To his credit, the journo doesn't blame Fox itself -- the quote says that the Zero's problem is that "4X the number of people watch Fox as CNN." True, the "24-hour rage" thing is silly and uninformed (esp when compared to MSNBC), but people watch Fox, and Fox is generally more critical of Obama than the other networks which fight to smoke his Unprecedented Pole.

What the journo typically leaves unexplored is WHY Fox is so much more popular.  If he could grasp that a large segment of people watch Fox because they know that they are getting largely leftist propaganda on the other nets, his head would likely explode.

HEHEHE it funny & sad...CUZ ITS TRUE!!!

The message, that is- and the sentiment of the right people of this country. I do find it funny though that FOX is the culprit in stirring up the piched-forked masses against O-blame-a. Its not, FOX is simply the biggest boogy man in the room and they are jealous of all the hotties FOX has. The internets is where the good people are gathering, sharing ideas and organizing. Oh, and don't forget the other MSM news outlets SUCK...people have good B.S. monitors and don't suffer fools for long, its that simple.

178 It's a neck and neck tie between Bill O'Reilly and Barack Obama in the race for narcissist of the year.  I think Obama's got  him by a nose  but it's still a furlong to the finish line, and O'Reilly is closing fast.

179 Yes.  It's a HUGE problem when people get your news from the propaganda wing of a political party that may possibly have it's own violent, fascist, paramilitary force.

When I was a teen, some construction guy that was part of a crew building a senior housing tower down the street from where I lived had a Vega station wagon with wide meaty tires and a 327 under the hood. That thing was awesome.
