— Dave in Texas

For those of you not watching but tracking on the intertubes, DrewM tells me the nets are croaking at Brown HQ. Ace is posting via Blackberry right now.
Since the Globe's web servers are also dancing the watusi across the office, here's another results tracking link. 65% of precincts reporting, Brown 53%, Coakley 46%.
Me, I'm home, just grilled a steak, and I have my own celebration planned shortly. *looks longingly at that big bowl of guacamole dip*
Oh yeah.
UPDATE: AP calls it for Brown. Coakley makes the phone call. Pudding is room temperature.

From instapudit, "The Brown Revolution?"
“Around the world over the past decade, longstanding and stultifying power elites have been toppled by what came to be known as the ‘color revolutions’ — notably the Rose Revolution in Georgia, the Orange Revolution in Ukraine, and hopefully the Green Revolution in Iran. Now the political elites in Boston and Washington have been rocked by the Brown Revolution.”

Juan's right about The Precedent doubling down, but for the wrong reasons. The Precedent is going to double down because the more unpopular somethign is, the more The Precedent wants to force it on America. The Washington junta on Capitol Hill is going to be the target of threats by the White House, as The Precedent tries to force them to come with him on his suicide bombing mission. Most will go, kind of for the reason Juan stated - because they've already cast so many indefensible votes that nothing they do now can make them appear human or acceptable.
But we are dealing with total lunatics and political terrorists, here, so it's hard to know how crazy they're going to get. They have no limits to their insanity, really.

Next question?
No, I don't think it's historic. When President Obama--who won Massachusetts-- won in 2008, he was the first empty suit Afrikan American elected to the Presidency. I think in the books of history, that will always be the top "first."
Can we talk about how awesome President Obama is? Maybe a question aboot the impeccable creases in his pants? Perhaps a quarry about his ease at soaring oratory?

AMENDMENT XVII
...
"When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct."
In other words, Paul Kirk can move his sorry ass out of the Senate: the people have spoken.
