I am an avowed pessimist in the short-to-middle term for America. The race issue isn't going away; if anything, it's getting worse. And it's not just the white and black folks; it's black folks and Asians, black folks and jews, Chinese against Koreans, Koreans against Japanese, and hispanics and blacks. The melting-pot didn't work, mostly because the Left told everyone back in the 1960's that they didn't have to melt; that it was better to remain unmelted and unique. They taught everyone that "assimilation" was just another word for white repression and injustice, while at the same time removing all the historical social supports minority communities depended on -- the primary casualty being the nuclear family. If a black baby beats the odds and actually makes it to term, his chances of having a married mother and father in the house are only about one in five. The chances of his sibling having the same father as he does is about the same.

This is what deifying the concept of "diversity" does to a political entity. It bears remembering that "diversity" in and of itself carries no moral weight. Diversity can be a very bad thing indeed, and I'm coming to think that it hinders rather than helps the cause of civilization. Not racial differences, I hasten to add (sad that I should have put in that codicil, really....), but cultural ones. I don't think a civilization can survive if most of the citizens do not share the same culture and social values. It goes to the root meaning of what it means to have a community and a robust civic life.

So my question is: So what?  It happens all the time.  We get our undies in a wad about this sort of thing, but, as the old saw goes, "Everyone's complaining about the weather, but no one is doing a damned thing about it."  I'm kind of at a cranky tipping point that I don't care about these kinds of stories because every time we see one, we flail away at it like the 98 pound weakling trying to defend the honor of his girlfriend.  We look ridiculous.

Until we conservatives make a real move at establishing control of a major media outlet and begin to offer alternatives to state-run higher education, this sort of grousing about unfairness is nothing more than an admission that we are weak.

We know that we will not get a fair shake in the current environment.  We only have two options, neither of which have prospects of immediate gratification: 1) We change the environment, or 2) We make it painful to those who are in control of the messaging. Does anyone see any realistic prospects of this happening? I don't.
