— Ace Thank Goodness.
In the latest polling conducted on Monday night Sharron Angle and Harry Reid are now tied.Yesterday both Pennsylvania and Ohio races shifted from Toss-Up to Leans Republican.
And I didn't do this post, but Pennsylvania -- that's almost looking like a lay-up,* right?
* With apologies to the exquisite sensitivities of Ann Althouse, who finds a joke about an Ewok, this guy:

...expressing an interest in "nutting on" one of the women dressed as Lady Ewoks in that Emily List ad to be "despicable."
Whatever you do, don't show her this.
And definitely don't mention that Keith Olbermann piece to her, which was so offensive about the mentally handicapped even I was offended by what I was writing (and apologies to those offended: Sometimes offense is the joke, though).
Wicket the Ewok nutting on a Ewokette is "despicable" but a post dropping the r-bomb fifty times in a cruel way is a-ok by Ms Althouse's lights?
Ah well. We each have our own little fiefdom of offense which we patrol vigorously and aggressively.

1. Althouse had to look up "nutting on" in the urban dictionary to find out what it meant, but didn't realize who "Wicket" was.
2. She voted for Obama.
3. Commenter "Pastafarian" on her blog thread lays a couple of good ones on her near the bottom of the comments.

Anyhoo, I'll give her a pass on this sort of dumb move (assuming she doesn't continue it further). She's kind of out of it when it comes to pop culture etc. I think it comes from living in the cocoon of Madison. Pelosi clarifies call for look at funding of anti-mosque critics
It was a bit unclear what she was referring to, and now her office sends over a statement from her clarifying what she meant and sort of standing by what she said:
"The freedom of religion is a Constitutional right. Where a place of worship is located is a local decision.
"I support the statement made by the Interfaith Alliance that 'We agree with the ADL that there is a need for transparency about who is funding the effort to build this Islamic center. At the same time, we should also ask who is funding the attacks against the construction of the center.'
"For all of those expressing concern about the 9/11 families, we call upon them to join us in support of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act when Congress returns in September."

I don't know about picking a fight. Maybe. It did inspire some good comments in her comment section - like these:
by "ricpic"
"Wow, what strong proud women, every last one of them wedded to the state."
&
this post by "Jim"
"The WHOLE video is Ewoks attacking strawmen:
1) Palin has never opposed abortion except on a PURELY personal level. Her stated position is that she would leave it up to states to decide.
2) Palin's not opposed to "health care." She's opposed to "ObamaCare." Being opposed to big government solutions is NOT the same as being against doctors.
3) Palin has NEVER said she opposed unemployment benefits. For that matter NO Republican has as far as I know. They just asked THAT THEY BE PAID FOR. An alien concept to the Democrats in charge, I know.
4) Palin, AFAIK, has never opposed federal funding for schools. I do. I think it's purely a local matter to be controlled and PAID FOR by locals. But I don't think Palin has EVER come out against it.
5) Palin has NEVER said that people can't "hibernate" with whoever they choose. In fact, I believe she supports civil unions. You know, kind of like, THE PRESIDENT.
So they missed on EVERY SINGLE POINT."

As for the retarded jokes, I don't much like 'em as a rule (I'm borderline autistic), but they were funny this time so I pulled the stick partway out my butt for this occasion. Just don't do that shit every week.
I have to give it up for those posts on Nikki Haley and her stalker. I'll never forget "let me put my integrity in you". That ranks in the top ten Ace moments.

Real grass roots always wanes badly in the summer. Real people focus on their homes, their kids, their vacations, etc. They don't go out to rallies in the 110 degree heat. This leads to their impact on the rest... the independents, other voters, etc, to wane during the summer.
You will see huge Tea Party efforts in October. That's what Chris Matthews has that look on his face for. This is the high water mark for the democrats, barring something huge. They realize that a storm is coming that will make today's numbers look like a fairy tale.
If things are bad enough, Obama might not attempt some stunt, but I think this all points to a strike on Iran or something else like that, to change the subject in a massive way. The timing sucks, though, because the time to strike Iran is now, not October. Sadly, that's my guess as to what will happen. They will push the strike to a worse date to maximize the political gains.
Again, if things are bad enough, maybe they don't see the point in trying anything. But the Angle was always beating Reid. When her numbers were only a bit behind in the summer, that was actually great news for her. She was Tea Party, and of course was going to lose some ground in the summer. Her views aren't crazy, they are simply out of the beltway mainstream, and her supporters are not on talk shows, but rather with their families right now.
It's going to get ugly in California, too.

Jeez, I don't read Outhouse, and now I know why. Is she really a conservative? Her comment about the Wicket joke sounded like those uttered by every bitter, liberal bitch I've ever met. Maybe she would enjoy life more if she got the sand out of her vag.
And now that I know that she voted for Obama, my only remaining question is why she should have any credibility with any conservative? She's just another stupid, arrogant, "intellectual" who couldn't admit the emperor was nekkid.

That was some funny shit.
I still laugh over his Contessa Brewer rant. My favorite line was something along the lines that she would "lift her skirts for the loose change in your pocket." Makes me laugh everytime I think of it.

We got some good news last night with the win by Blakeslee to replace Maldonaldo in our Senate. A loss there would have given the Dems a supermajority.

I agree. And this needs to change. And you can start by getting off of your knees on that little piece of turf.
A normal person would have let it go.. But I'm a Moron. Do you think that I have a shot with Althouse?
Posted by: Blue Hen at August 18, 2010 10:23 AM (R2fpr)
Not surprising, coming from the person with the most overrated opiinions on the intertubes. WTF Insty sees in her glaringly obvious insights and inconsistent yet predictable positions I will never understand.
For years, I had kept following links ty Athouse, thinking "There must be something of value everyone else sees here that I do not get." I have finally realized that nope, there ain't. It's just longevity and herd behavior that keeps her getting traffic.
Posted by: West at August 18, 2010 10:25 AM (1Rgee)
I'm by no means a long-time reader of hers, nor a member of her herd, but in my case the reason I tend to check her blog every day has little to do with her opinions or alleged brain power (her posts are not that carefully thought out or composed compared to, for example, neoneocon's), it's simply that she puts up a nice mix of posts. Lots of pop culture, some politics, some other stuff. It gets wearing to read about the same 10 major news items each day. Althouse's blog provides some relief.
If she has a rep for being a brain, I can't imagine why - at least not based on the blog stuff. Her legal opinions don't even seem that good.
I stopped reading for a time when she was in full-bore Kool-Aid mode, but returned a while back when her sanity returned.

Ann screwed up on this one. Ace never mentioned himself. He was saying they weren't good enough for WICKETT to nutt on.
I am pretty sure Ace doesn't have equally high standards as Wickett...

My time for hitting on people is long past, alas. Just speaking as one logician to another...and incapable of resisting two puns in one sentence.

Not even if we made Wickett chug a gallon of Valu Rite?

C3PO prefers being nutted with a light jasmine scented WD-40 through a silver plated nozzle, so there.

She's kind of a fucking idiot who jumps to conclusions then strains to explain them after the fact.

That's what Instapundit is for. Without the banality.
IMO, of course.

"Jeez, I don't read Outhouse, and now I know why. Is she really a conservative?"
No, and in all fairness, she doesn't claim to be. She's center-left at best, downright liberal at worst.
It's worth noting that she regularly attracts a number of shrill, hysterical and stupid Moonbat commenters, each of whom acts like Althouse is some kind of extremist right winger. It's laughable. She's just not usually as nuts as they are, and that's all it takes for condemnation.
I think she rose to blog prominence mainly as a result of Instapundit's constant linkage of her, and I do think it's an interesting blog. It's just that every now and then she really goes off the rails.

Speaking of down big time Rand Paul is up by 9 over the Dem in KY.
So all the eeyores can shutup now?

Indeed. And it's interesting to watch someone who clearly was far more left leaning doing the slo-mo dope slap. For example here post on Death Panels...seems Mama Grizzly-in-Chief was right.

I think even W, with his apologies for Islam, wont fall for this. He doesn't speak about the prior administration and her "call" is just a reminder that W wouldn't have said one word about an issue like this.

7. If Sarah Palin's so dumb and silly, why is it you who are dressed up in the bear costumes?
Really, that was the one that got me; the rest of the list was just a reason to write that.
I knew Wicket (sad, but true) and "nutting" is kind of self-explanatory. The joke was workable, and not over the top for this site by any stretch of the imagination.
I'll admit I don't recall the meaning of "yiff/yiffing" specifically aside from somehow being furry-related... I think I once know what it meant and have since successfully forgotten; so I'm guessing I won't thank anyone for reminding me what it means.

Three things:
1. The Ewok crack was funny.
2. The ad was stupid and deserves all of its mockery.
3. I have no idea who Ann Althouse is, but after following the link I can understand why she freaks out over people making negative comments about ugly women. I mean, I can REALLY understand why it's her pet cause. Really.
(And lest another man be blamed for cracking on ugly women, I'm not a dude.)

I think it was an elitist thing. Some people refused to notice the danger. Remember, Obama did campaign to the right of Hillary.
