That's what she does! It's *all* she does!"
Guess it's not old. Despite what she said earlier, Pelosi will not be denied.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), the ranking member of the House Budget Committee, tells National Review Online that House Democrats are planning to use the budget-reconciliation process in order to pass Obamacare. “They’re meeting with each other this weekend to pursue it,” says Ryan. “I’ve spoken with many Democrats and the message is this: They’re not ready to give up. They’ve waited their entire adult lives for this moment and they aren’t ready to let 100,000 pesky votes in Massachusetts get in the way of fulfilling their destiny. They’ll look at every option and spend the next four or five days figuring it out.”If the Democrats pull this off and manage to shove this monstrosity through Congress, I'm sure Obama will be so offended that they didn't listen to him that he'll refuse to sign it out of principle. Right?
Right?

I still think the Senate is considering reconciliation. However, the House has to pass a new bill. Pelosi's statement today meant that she doesn't have the votes to re-pass the bill the House already passed.
I bet what they're considering is having the House pass a new, slightly different bill, and then having the Senate pass it through reconciliation, making Brown's 41st vote irrelevant.
I stick by it.

2. I'm almost to the point that I wish they would pass it. So, hypothetically, if they do something loco like this and B to the O reluctantly signs it. 2010 Rmageddon TM comes and R's take back both houses, but by thin margins. They immediately pass a repeal of said HC by the same reconciliation methods used to enact it. Does B to the O sign the repeal?

Second, the greatest thing about Pelosi and Pals taking the nuclear route is that they would have to start all over again. It's practically February and the Speaker wants to start the committee process all over again. That means months more of wrangling and hand-wringing over this most unpopular of measures.
Our ideal outcome is for them to get as close as they can, pissing off as many voters as possible in the process, only to fail at the last second. I thought we'd come about as close as possible to that ideal with Scott Brown's victory on Tuesday. Now it looks as if Pelosi is going to snatch disaster from the jaws of a setback.

Reconciliation is a budget procedure that only requires a simple majority. There is no filibustering it.
That said, the Republicans CAN object the bills that come in as exceeding the limits imposed by the Byrd Rule--which would cause the Democrats to have to strip non-budgetary parts of the bill out and limit what they can pass. But that's all they can do until they regain power and repeal the stuff through a reconciliation of their own.

That said, the Republicans CAN object the bills that come in as exceeding the limits imposed by the Byrd Rule
The bill is 2000 pages long. Each line can be challanged under the Bird Rule one at a time by individual Rep Senators, one at a time. They can this force a vote to overrule the chair on each ruling (takes 60 to overrule).
The Byrd Rule was designed by Byrd to prevent the first healthcare bill from being brought with reconcilliation.
It will not work. The republicans could tie the thing up until 2012 under reconcilliation. That is why they will not use it.

The Republican party is putting 0 effort into winning. So the only motivator for people other than their base to vote for Republicans is the Democrats radical agenda.
Plus, and here's the kicker, the Democrats can go into this campaign season claiming the Republicans 'killed' health care reform and play the class warfare game. They'll remind people the reason they're still paying very high premiums is because of the Republicans and the Republican's friends, the Big Insurance lobby. It will resonate with a lot of people.

This is a smokescreen to hide what they are actually going to try to do.
Unfortunately I think it's just a ruse so they won't lose their base. The Democrats are in quite the predicament: if they shelve, their base will sit home in November, if they ram it through, they lose in November.

Yes, the Republican party or some other "right wing" party will still exist, but it will move the center so far left, like Britain or Canada, that you could be forgiven for thinking the right wing party is essentially equivalent to today's Blue Dog Democrats.
At best.
So I wouldn't say, "Bring it!" so much as I'd work to defeat it. Don't rely on the mid-terms.

A new print ad -- sponsored by the conservative American Future Fund and running in the print editions of Politico and Roll Call -- is the first direct attempt we've seen by Republicans to directly leverage the Massachusetts special election against House and Senate Democrats contemplating retirement.
"1. Run. 2. Lose. 3. Get Trashed by the White House," reads the ad. "Are you willing to sacrifice your career for Obama?"

That's a good question about the speakership. I think the dems could take her position away whenever they want to, but they probably won't. I don't know what the rules are. I don't think they'll kneecap her now because it would send an even stronger message that they're panicking. Better to just wait until the asswhipping in November and then toss her to the curb.

"If they pass it in the Senate with 51, then we can kill it with 51. "
Not while Obama is in office we can't. He can veto any rollback that reaches his desk, and it takes 2/3 majorities in both chambers to override a veto.

"Are you willing to sacrifice your career for Obama?"
Well, let's see: I'm in my late 40s, so I can stretch my career as it is now for four more terms if I play my cards right. The only true promotion would be getting elected president -- but there are about sixty other senators and thirty governors with those aspirations, and I'd only have four or five shots at that prize, so I'm asking myself if I have the charisma, the stamina, the connections and the resources to compete against all of them and to see a campaign all the way through. In short, do I realistically have a shot at that? Probably not. I could accept a cabinet position, but that would definitely be temporary.
I'm eventually going back into the private sector some day. With that in mind, I'm looking around and seeing a president committed to and plausibly able to transform the most powerful elements of society according to his vision. And if I'm on board with that, if I help him out now, the rewards down the road could approach the infinite.
So you're asking me if I'm willing to sacrifice my career for Obama. My answer is that Obama is the right president at the right time for me, and this has actually been Plan A all along.

NRO -"Critical Condition"
Forget the 'Cornhusker Kickback': Senate Medicaid Deal a Recipe for Fraud
People
were rightly upset when they learned about the "Cornhusker Kickback,"
the deal whereby Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska sold his vote in favor of
the Senate's health bill in exchange for his state never having to pay
for any of the Medicaid expansion in the bill.
However, the
biggest problem with the Medicaid expansion in the Senate health bill
is not the “Cornhusker Kickback,” but that it leverages an already
flawed formula to determine federal payments to state Medicaid
programs. The Senate bill would motivate states to invest more
resources in recruiting higher income residents into Medicaid, rather
than traditionally eligible beneficiaries, including the blind and
disabled. The Senate bill also gives richer states a bigger Medicaid
bailout than lower income ones. New Hampshire,
Maryland, and Connecticut get the biggest handouts, while Mississippi,
West Virginia, and Arkansas are short-changed, according to my
just-published analysis.
Typical democrat pile.

Yeah, but they're at her waistline. Apparently the only plastic surgery she's interested in is above teh neck.
On the numerous clips FOX showed this evening, where she said she didn't have the votes, she looked all of her 100 years. Her eyes looked red too. I'd definitely say she had been crying. Schadenfreude, baby. If she has another go at this thing and it dies, I'll lay odds she'll self-destruct into a million tiny Botoxed parts.
Hmmm. Maybe they're doing this to have some earth-shattering annoucement (either way) at 5 p.m. tomorrow? Beck said he's been getting FBI-worthy threats and that "the gates of hell are going to open" with the showing of his "Live Free or Die" expose on Che, Mao, Stalin and Marx. Set your DVRs.

As views remain sharply divided about Congress, Americans say -- by a 47-43 percent margin -- they would vote for someone else rather than re-elect President Obama if the 2012 presidential elections were held today.
This was according to a new fox news poll. No named oppenent and he is down 4. That is horrible for him. Obama is lucky this is not 2012 with a few days before the election, Sarah would smoke him.

Peaches, unless you're running off a really good battery back up that conditions the line, you need to eject. And by 'really good' I mean one the size of a car battery with true UPS, not the little cracker-box ones or a power strip. It's hard to remember that Libs are amoral scum sometimes. It's because we are human, and suffer from the penchant for transference. We are honest, and can only stomach so much irrationality, so we assume the leftists are the same. They are not. They're totally different from us on a deep psychological level. They can justify anything to themselves so long as some part of it can be aligned with their perverse politics. That is why they can not be reasoned with. It is why they can NEVER, EVER be trusted. Not for a moment. Leftism is evil cloaked in annoying do-gooderism. It is right to find their mentality scary - because it's the mentality that led to over 100 million murders.

People continue to act on the assumption that the people at the top of the Democratic Party will suddenly see the light. They aren't. Particularly not Pelosi or Reid. They're on a mission from God to lead the peons to Nirvana. They could do it in small, itty bitty pieces, but they have distaste for even that. They want a massive, overwhelming victory to demonstrate and celebrate their righteousness.

I believe that the US has received yet another wake up call. I think the Dems are going to be slaughtered in the next two election cycles unless the Reps totally screw the pooch (a sad possibility). Given that, I wonder what the loons will do when they're out on their asses again? They got close to violence this last time - they certainly called for it openly enough. Hard left movements have always turned murderous. I wonder if they'll join the jihadists, or perhaps start their own Euro-style anarchist/terrorist orgs? Or will they all just wuss out like usual?

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty well convinced that politicians passing laws that the majority of Americans are firmly against qualifies as grounds for declaring that government illegitimate.

You mean like when he said MA was "too close to call" with Coakley the probable winner? Uh, no.
Silver likes to pick Dems. This made him look smart when the tides were going Democratic. Now? Not so much.

Bold and beautiful...all the profanity and name calling...WOW...now "Would you like to buy a Gucci?"
Health care WILL pass and the teabaggers can scream and yell and vote...just like they have always done and will always do....funny your afraid of the Dems that can't keep it together.....I guess we should go back to the policies of George W...he did a great job.....and you still blame his failed policies ...and there are MANY on the Dems and Bill Clinton.....Its quite obvious, if your not screaming about the constitution that GWB shredded, that we as a nation, need to go in a VERY different direction. And you will ......Sorry, stomp your feet and hold your breath and carry a gun and you will make fox news....or bill o'riley....oh and don't forget the comparisons to nazi germany and the holocost...(I wonder if you believe it ever happened)....Remember....YOU LOST THE ELECTION AND THE SUPREME COURT COULDN'T HELP YOU ON THIS ONE....IT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE.....But you still have the right to free speech so spew the lies ...fox loves the lies ......If you don't like it ....you may leave...and get health care at virtually everywhere else on the planet...sure it costs money...know anything that doesn't?...but you might know this....if you have a large group paying in the cost is much lower....Oh, and I love the scare tactics using the word Socialist.....Think real hard ....do we have that now....think now ...I knowww....itttsss Hard...........Medicare, Medicaid, Police , Park System, Schools....Fire Department......keep thinking....or maybe ...if you hate is so much ...this Socialist country.....you could move to ????????????? the north pole?????....Oh ...ya thats right ...you haven't been told what to think yet by Rush ditto head...or Blab Oreally.....I however will continue to fight FOR YOU ...and the rest of you teabaggers.....do you even know what that means in TODAYS slanguedge????? I'm sure not......Keep your head up your.....well.....if you are one ...you are one. You could probably have that large polyp removed.....but I'm sure there isn't a scope big enough.....probably don't even know what that is either.......well then at least keep buying guns...its good for the economy....
