— Gabriel Malor My fears that people would reconcile themselves to the President's health care program have fortunately not come to pass. A strong majority of likely voters still oppose ObamaCare and want repeal.
Sixty-one percent (61%) of Likely U.S. Voters now at least somewhat favor repeal of the new national health care law, including 50% who Strongly Favor it. ThatÂ’s up eight points from a week ago and the highest level of opposition measured since late May.A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 33% of Likely Voters oppose repeal. Since the passage of the bill in late March, a majority of voters have consistently favored repeal of the new law, with support ranging from a low of 53% to a high of 63%.
Only 33% say the health care plan will be good for the country, the lowest level measured since late July. Fifty-six percent (56%) disagree and believe the new law will be bad for the United States.
Part of that, no doubt, is the realization that rising insurance rates are part of the ObamaCare mandates. As more folks and businesses notice the higher rates after October 1, more will come to oppose the Democrats' health care reform and the source.

The Dems are still in their bizarro world. Clinton claims to be mystified that the Pubs can be polling so well despite opposing the Obama agenda. He said that it's because it's "easier" to listen to Repubican rhetoric. And so it goes on...

"ItÂ’s not just the highly effective attack on it. ItÂ’s also because people didnÂ’t want a government takeover of health care in 2010 any more than they wanted it in 1993. ItÂ’s hard to understand why Democrats took Bill ClintonÂ’s advice seriously in the first place. After all, Clinton himself didnÂ’t take it at the time; he dropped HillaryCare and moved back to the center, and won his next election because of it."

Is Clinton (the Dress Stainer, not Hillary) starting to, ah, campaign for Hillary? It just seems that he's willing to lead the current White House staff into pile of c*ap after pile of c*ap - while she distances herself from the same. FWIW, the Clinton's aren't that smart - they're still working from the same "Look, We solved the Mideast Crisis Again" book long played out in the 90's...

The real agenda was that it would vastly increase the size, scope, and clout of the federal bureaucracy and the labor unions that run it. ObamaCare would be a giant irreversible step toward turning the United States into a corrupt one-party system like Detroit, Chicago, or New Orleans.
I do think he is stunned that the American people are fighting back.
And incidentally, that crap about him being 'the best politician of his generation' has always been politically illiterate nonsense.

(All while America sinks)
I think it's interesting that Bill Clinton and Barney Frank, as architects of the housing melt-down, get little blame for it. A free pass. It's just amazing to me how the democrats can actually ruin entire industries, entire cities and towns, and now the entire nation, and the R's get the blame. Those crazy R's!

No, in Clinton's mind, none of that was responsible for the prosperity in the 90's. What was, according to President Cumshot? His 1993 tax hike, because it "ended trickle-down economics," as if that was all the legislation that was passed in that decade, and the only thing that contributed to the 90's economy.
He can't give the GOP a sliver of credit. What a self-absorbed fuck!

Just wait until people start getting hurt by this legislation. It's going to be devastating. I predict it will kick us into a severe depression.
I choose to remain partially in denial about the whole thing. Skyrocketing health care premiums are going to destroy the middle class standard of living. Plus, people are going to start dying while waiting for health care that has suddenly become very scarce.
I know it's coming, but I try not to think about it too much.

If only they'd stick to just killing themselves off, rather than dragging the rest of us down with them. They should be forced to quarantine themselves into a few states set up as libtard containment zones. Then they could communize to their hearts content, and before long the famine and pestilence would rid us of them.

Yes, that is what I thought orginally as well, I voted for Bill Clinton both times. The thing is this whole obamacare legislation has made people realise that HillaryCare was just as bad, and Hillary would have enacted the same nonsense, at a slower pace, so no one would notice.
movements are useful to politicans when they can be controlled, when they are led by principles, they are uncontrollable. I voted for Hillary in the 2008 dem, I will not support her again.

1) If the shitheads from Comedy TeeVee even go through with their rally, they'll be lucky to get 1000. But, I read their talk as jest that is not intended to be taken serious. Think about it, they'd be the main draw and when's the last time you heard of a comedian selling out a large venue?
2) Right now, as it stands, you can add 5% to 7% to any Republican's poll numbers. That's the bump they will get between now and November 2 from Obamacare alone.
It' ain't a wave coming, it ain't even a tsunami--it's a fucking planet-destroying meteor. Not even the GOP has a clue just how pissed Americans are.

curious -- I get what you are saying. I don't ever remember being this mad at Bush, and I was one of those with the Bush Derangement Syndrome.
The thing is, this is not about just about 2010, because people aren't just going ot shut up and go away now. This is not about social issues, I am pro-choice, probably more liberal than most on this board, however I am a fiscal conservative a defense conservative, a constitutional conservative independent.
That is th driving force of the Tea Party and therefore includes so many indies and dems, the thrust of the movement is the economy and limited govt via the US Consitution.
I consider myself a JFK dem, that party is now gone.
And with the internet, people are finally getting information unfiltered, and are able to study and make up their own minds. Most people in this country are conservatives, or right of center, the LSM makes conservatives seem like all it is about is legislating social issues and uses this to drive away voters.
Now voters, independent minded voters are able to make that distinction. As you say, and I agree, its not good to be overconfident, but keep going and convince anybody and everyone who is open minded and independent minded to make up their own minds.
46 days until 2010 elections, and about 900 days until the 2012 elections.

we will never win a veto proof majority. Actually, it is a mathematical impossibility. I don't think there are 67 seats up for re-election in this campaign.

Glenn Beck sometimes makes some crazy assertions when it comes to history.
The Nazi's didn't make their flag red because of socialism or communism. They did it because those were the traditional colors of the German flag.
Someone needs to tell glenn to look at the German Empire's flag prior to the nazis. Same colors. Red, White, and Black. More specifically, Prussia, Germany's largest state was Red Black and White.
Glenn takes some liberties a little too often for my liking.

O/T: the NBER has determined the recession ended in June 2009.
You can look at that two ways:
1) the NBER is full of you know what as anyone can tell we are still economically down
or
2) the recession ended only 4 months into Obama's presidency which means none of Obama's policies were responsible for ending the recession, on the contrary, they are hindering the recovery.

Actually, it is possible you are both right, you more than him, but the flag was designed to compete with the communist banners.
David Cohen, 12 May 1998:
According to John Toland's Adolf Hitler, the flag submitted by the "dentist from Starnberg" was "a swastika against a black-white-red background". He also writes that "Hitler insisted upon a party flag that could compete with the flaming red Communist banner". "We wanted something red enough to out-Herod Herod", recalled Drexler, something to outdo the Reds but "quite different." Anton Drexler was one of the founders and the original leader of the German Workers' Party, which became, after Hitler joined, the National Socialist German Workers' Party, or Nazi Party for short.

It really depends on how the funding is voted on. The R's will probably try to separate out the Obamacare appropriations and not move on them while the D's will try to bundle them into other appropriations bills so as to hold other programs (ie defense) hostage to funding Obamacare.
In any event expect the MFM to go all out in attempts to "Gingrich" John Boehner and make him into the shifty politician who wants to starve grandma and kill our troops- or maybe the other way around.
Posted by: Nighhawk at September 20, 2010 07:39 AM (OtQXp)
231 It is actually good politics to hamstring Obamacare; rather then out right repeal it. 1st the Pub send a repeal package to Senate (one version a month, make the Dims bottle everyone of them up.) 2nd use appropriation bills to gut Obamacare, in future elections the unrepealed Obamacare becomes a Damocles' sword hanging over the country to keep the Dems out of control.
Good idea. I agree.

I was thrown off the internet due to the tornado so if ace did say something I totally missed it. And have had friends staying with me cause a tree fell into their apartment.

Here's something interesting...
BOSTON (AP) _ Boston, the city that has banned smoking in bars and
trans-fats in restaurants, now wants to keep sugary drinks out of
city-owned buildings.
The city has convened health, education, and housing leaders to
develop a policy that aims to reduce consumption of sugar-sweetened
sodas and other beverages.
Panel member Bill Walczak, head of a community health center,
tells The Boston Globe that "somebody has to take a stand" to control
the consumption of sugar-laden drinks blamed in part for the nation's
obesity epidemic.
Barbara Ferrer, executive director of the Boston Public Health
Commission, expects resistance to an outright ban. She says people look
at sweetened beverages differently from tobacco.

This just in . . . my neighbor down the street lost her job as a health insurance broker and they told their nanny they had to let her go because of Obama.
I then explained to my middle school aged son that we in the United States live under a Constitutional Republic carried out through a representative democracy with the will of the people represented by public servants. I then told him the office of the presidency should always be repsected. But the occupant does not have to be if their policies contravene the Constitution.

Let Obama veto any repeal- it will be his death knell in 2012.

I was in home depot the other day. They had no cashiers, none. They had a person watching the 8 self checkout machines but no cashiers. some people are fine with checking themselves out and others need help. The girl was helping one woman and she shared with the woman that twenty cashiers had been fired. I was surprised to hear her answer "well maybe it's time to fire some of the people in our bloated government instead of people making ten bucks an hour". I have to say, we were all standing at the self check out machines and agreeing with her but feeling really bad that by us checking ourselves out twenty people could be fired
I love the self check out lines. I am so quick and efficient with them. I was pissed when my local walmart got rid of them because a lot of people were switching price tags and barcodes and stealing from the Walmart.

< Exactly! The officers and directors of both private and publicly traded companies have a fiduciary duty to those with 3rd party interests held in the company. Paying a fine versus affording health care cover is a decision that would positively affect the company's balance sheet and fulfill the fiduciary role of those in charge.

Question. Has there ever been a modern President that has acted so petulant and Unpresidential? Clinton, Nixon - the two that immediately come to mind as potentials, always seemed to speak the part and act the part publicly.
Obama has truly lowered the office by his unpresidential public presence.

Per Bill Clinton on Obamacare on Meet The Press: "First of all, the benefits of the bill are spread out of three or four years. It takes a long time to implement. And secondly, there has been an enormous and highly effective attack on it,”
< Um, the first four years of "implementation" are securing taxes, taxes, taxes to preload for 6 years of implementation. So the 4 years Tax, then 6 years "benefits" scheme accounted for a "revenue neutral" CBO score.
But now, the CBO ain't even claiming revenue neutral.

LOL, that made me think of a young female co-worker we had years ago. She was a mechanical engineer and a female which made hiring her a premium. After she had worked for a couple of years they sent her to SRO school for 2 years and she got her SRO license. Now she was a licensed ME female. Shortly after she got the SRO license she quit in order to go back to school to pursue a law degree. She was on the "fast track" path to management and quit.
Think of all the money the company wasted on sending her to SRO school for two years.

How many remember that Clinton and the idiot Gore wrecked the lumber industry in the Pacific Northwest in the early 90s? The economic disaster in timber-dependent communities was masked for a while by the dot-com boom in Seattle and Portland. But when that bubble burst, Oregon had the highest unemployment rate in the nation. However, the MFM never seemed to connect eco-lefty politics with the economic distress felt in the region. It had to have been caused by Booosh and his tax cuts for the rich. Different times, same old shit.

AT is quite good. You know, I'm surprised this blog didn't pimp the (I guess two-week-old) article by Dinesh D'Souza in Forbes: "How Obama thinks"
http://tinyurl.com/27yrzxn
As well as the AT article by Thomas Lifson: "The Grudge: Barry Soetoro's Indonesian Expatriate Hell"
http://tinyurl.com/3xrvasb
Lots of insight on the guy. I think the former was right on the money because Gibbsy attacked D'Souza over that article.
To expand on Lifson's point, Barry has always been around the very rich. He's always been surrounded by people who are far more wealthy and/or well-accomplished than he or his family. His running in those circles didn't make him appreciative but made him resentful. The Lifson article really puts his life in Indonesia into perspective.

There isn't any problem in this country that isn't caused by our law schools.
But think about this, we're saying that it's a better deal to become a lawyer (or to go to law school for other purposes) than to be a mechanical engineer. What is wrong with this picture? Lawyers do not grow economies, innovate or otherwise produce a good or a service people choose to purchase voluntarily.
If you thought that someone would leave your regular job once they got a job in the law would you hire them? That's what is going on.
Well, I've learned from M'chelle's hospital job and Obama's cabinet that a law degree prepares you for every single possible job under the sun. Either that or it's just the little badge to get you into the ruling class.
But we are still under the impression that the economy will get better quickly. Frankly, I'd take the bet that lawyerkid ain't goin' nowhere anytime soon.

You can't tax the rich or the middle class. You simply cannot pay what you owe. We will be damn lucky just to pay the interest.
Ergo the inescapable truth. Your country and it's leaders have sold you into debt slavery. No different than sharecropping blacks- the only difference is that you are free to travel about. Its purpose is to provide soundbytes for the evening news. So even if there were a similar GOP event, it would be ignored at best or cherry-picked at worst.
When it comes down to it, politics is about trust. Do you trust the president? Not do you like or approve, but do you trust. This is why we have a representative republic. If we didn't, each of us would have to be up on the details of every single issue. We can't possibly be experts in all fields, so we have to trust that someone is more educated on details.
In the case of the president, we trust that (a) he is honest with his vision and (b) has trustworthy experts who know arcane details and (c) that he is competent enough to decide based on this information.
Instead, people know that (a) he is not honest about what he wants and (b) he is surrounded by hyper-radical political hacks and (c) could not make a rational decision other than one motivated by radical politics.

As long as earmarks and handouts to privileged contributors/friends are allowed, we are doomed to have an overspending, irresponsible government, no matter which party's in charge.
We need to reverse the thought process that prevails on both sides of the aisle: begin with an absolute balanced-budget law (only wars and gross national disasters should be exempt) that compels government to operate with actual receipts. Hold members of Congress personally liable for overspending.
Then, look to the Constitution to see what responsibilities the feds have a right to take on. The Founders did not envision a welfare state; we must shut it down. Nor did they believe Washington has any right to take over businesses or regulate them into failure. The government's prime responsibility is to provide security, and they've screwed that up.
If the freekin' Russkies and Cubans can fire hundreds of thousand of government drones, we can too.
If the Repub "leaders" can't grasp these simple concepts, they will be little better than the treasonous libs.
Any Repub candidate should make these points the centerpiece of their campaign promises.

484 Interesting Rasmussen poll up at H/A. Palin is suppossedly polling 52/40 over Obama on: "Who voters feel closer too."
Let's see---
Person who talks too you like you're an equal.
Person who talks down to you like you're dryer lint (Granted, there are those who have a dryer lint fantasy who make that 40%)

That way if it doesn't pass the Senate, or if Asshole vetoes it, they can say pass it or get nothing. That department shuts down and it accomplishes the same objective.
