(below the fold)
The Vortex Cannon:
We donÂ’t know what it is, but we wants it:
Oooh! And more breaking news! The soothing sounds of Ace. Live n' stuff!
Just got this from Little Miss Attila, a barbarian woman of true stature if there ever was one.
"For both of you who haven't heard, the RightNetwork site is now live. Participants include Victor Davis Hanson, Kelsey Grammer, Thomas Sowell, James Lileks, Robin of Berkeley, Iowahawk, Ace of Spades, Cynthia Yockey, Benjamin Franklin, Ed Snider, and Patrick Henry.""Oh, and Gerard Van der Leun as Editor-in-Chief, and one Joy McCann as Senior Editor."
The S.O.B. Responsible for Laugh Tracks:
I wonder if thereÂ’s a laugh track in Hell, where he now resides?
The Secrets Behind Your Favorite Toys
This is in response to MaetÂ’s Thursday night ONT where he waxed nostalgiac about old-timey toys, as if they were all innocent and stuff, rather than creepy and bizarre. Well, Maet can just go on living in Fluffyland (which I believe is a small, quaint and picturesque coastal village south of Big Sur which has a delightfully moderate climate perfectly suited for itÂ’s renowned Skittle vineyards.) Lucky bastard.
But IÂ’m here to tell you the cold hard drunken truth, as incoherent and belligerent as it is.
Now as promised: Your Dear Leader:

Added note/update: The pic was swiped from a very well-known site, but I'm gonna' let the Chipmunk-In-Chief decide how to attribute credit for it. Which I'm sure he'll do right after hosing out the woodchipper, cleaning my blood off his hands and having a well-deserved snifter of brandy. Meanwhile, you'll just have to guess where it's from.

This is a complete and utter disgrace. ItÂ’s not bad enough that Mayor Nutter is closing fire stations, extorting money from bloggers and towing away food vendors? Now they are going to fine a church $700 A DAY because a few morons are complaining about a bell?
As mentioned before, it's as ridiculous as city folk moving to the country and having farms and such shut down because of the smell.
Think this would be happening if the “offensive” party was a mosque?
Hell. No.

Philly is great. The police caught the Center City Rapist after finding a driver's license in the pants he left behind while escaping. Chief Wiggum is confiscating guns from visitors. It looks like the Housing Authority will stop making half-million-dollar payouts to settle sexual harassment suits, but the head honcho is still collecting salary while they decide if four strikes is enough. The Eagles haven't cut Vick yet (unless I missed a memo) so I'm losing hope. The Phils could well beat the Mets tonight. The hot weather has broken, so the fans and a/c are silenced and I'm sleeping contentedly. Still waking at dawn, but that's now a good thing.
My 11 housemates are smart and funny and good companions. The place runs like a machine (the whole system is based on principles from Heinlein) and the despots at the top of the chain are surprisingly benevolent.
I'm ahead of the game on my reading, and have not yet embarrassed myself in class. I was sad to learn that I will never use (or even think about) any of the upper-level math courses I took last year.
I got my voter registration notice today. Eagerly awaiting my first vote. (Arrived too late for PA's primary, back in April. Moved away before NY's primary, Tuesday.) The libs/Dems/radicals know they're toast, so they're curiously quiet. Even the loons are just going through the motions. Nobody is feigning excitement and joy. My congresscritter is Chakah Fattah, a D shoo-in. I will enjoy pulling the Senate lever for Toomey.
I signed up to poll watch an evening shift. I specifically requested 12th and Fairmount, which should be the safest and best-behaved polling place in the state this year. Unlike 2008.
It will be weird to NOT be in NYC tomorrow. My high school has an event every year. Considered going up, decided to let others keep the flame for a while. Since I plan to live forever, I realized there will come a year when I'll be the last witness. But not this year.
BTW: I have seen the lights go out on Broadway. Literally, back in 2003. But they did not sink Manhattan out at sea.

My brief review - it didn't suck as bad as Extinction, but it was just as bad as Apocalypse. And no, you don't see Milla nekkid. Which raised the value of the movie a little for me, but might decrease the value for some y'all.
/3D stands for "3 dollars" more (at least). 3D's just a gimmick to jack up ticket prices 50% and more.

You know the sad thing? As conservatives we can't fully trust any of the nominal front runners we have for president - like Romney. Bush, to put it nicely, failed to live up to his promise. McCain would have screwed us over repeatedly.
And yet every damn Democrat who has had a shot at being their nominee has been a hard core lefty for at least the last 30 years.
Seriously...what the hell?

You might be a moron if at the HS football game you're one of the first to stand and place your hand over your heart for the National Anthem. Because that's just the way it's done.
Also, applauds just as loud for an opposing team's injured player getting up and walking off the field as you do for your own players.

I was surprised. They actually "powered-down" Alice in this movie. Granted, she still kicked a lot of ass, but she wasn't neigh-invincible like she was in the past two RE movies.
It's a brainless action flick. A terrible one, but I enjoyed watching it anyway. You seldom can go wrong with a movie where a lot of shit gets destroyed and stereotypical evil characters get their comeuppance.

they tried that with my family's farm. townies complained about the manure smell, and the cows mooing. when they went to the town, a very rural town, the council basically laughed them out of the place.
so in retaliation for attempting to get our cows removed, we now have a very healthy flock of very loud chickens to keep them company.

I would love to bring forward people from early 2002 and tell them the big debate we are having in 2010 is just how much of a bigot you have to be to oppose a GZ Victory Mosque and how much effort the government should put forward and stopping a random guy from burning a Koran.

I think it started when Dubya couldn't (or wouldn't) back up his strong comments about bringing the 9/11 perps to justice with action. He did more damage with his ridiculous "religion of peace" shit.
But the real destruction began when the Mohammedan Mouthpiece was elected. As soon as I read his post-9/11 verbal diarrhea about "understanding" what motivated the evil pigs who attacked us, I knew he would steer the U.S.A. toward destruction. Every action he has taken furthers the aims of Muzzie terrorism.
I don't give a shit if burning korans upsets those fucksticks. I'd prefer to upset them by nuking Riyadh, Tehran and other shrines of terrorism toxic waste dumps.
And I pray for the day we again have an American president who will stand up for us and not sell us out to those who intend to destroy us.
Oh yes: fuck Mayor Bloomberg, Pat Buchanan and all other squishes who enable terrorism, too

I think we've taken our national security for granted. Everyone expected another attack, but we have been successful in thwarting them. Some incorrectly took that to mean that terrorism was no longer a threat. The media also encouraged/encourages that idea.

"National day of service," my ass.
It won't catch on and we only have two more years to hear this. Maybe not even that many, Zero may give up on it by 2012.
Regarding this and all the GZM and Koran-burning b.s. - it's all being blown up out of proportion by the media and the lefties. The tide IS turning in this country. It will take a stronger turn after Nov 2 and an even sharper one in 2012. This crap will not be given attention or support like it is now.
The libs were nuts to force through Obamacare and all of the other insanity of the last couple of years. Once they get their asses kicked in the elections, the lesson will be imprinted not to try those things again. They are already running scared and there are consequences to their actions that haven't come close to being played out yet, or even fathomed. The sleeping giant is waking up.

Gerry, before you go down to Ace's "vault" in the basement, there are some tips i should tell you about.
1. Before you enter his room you must knock and ask for permission to enter the lair of the 23rd level warlock.
2. You must take a couple of Mt. Dews and Hot Pockets to him.
3. Don't pick up any of his tube socks, let's just say that if Ace ever disappears, we know where the CSIs can find alot of his DNA.

Geraghty: “Any under-the-radar race you’re keeping your eye on? Any upset special?”
Rasmussen: “The race that I would potentially put in that category right now is the West Virginia Senate race. We have one poll out showing it a very competitive race. It’s clear that President Obama is not a welcome figure in West Virginia politics. But [Democratic nominee] Joe Manchin is so popular as governor that it was thought to be a safe seat. So that’s a potential upset special.”

The pool playin dog is pretty awesome for a chihuahua. I generally don't care for chihuahuas but that's probably more a reflection of the "parenting" qualities of the people who own them, rather than the dogs themselves.
Poodles, on the other hand, have no redeeming qualities.

No, I like it bc it's not as sweet as usual juice drinks. It tastes like you're drinking something healthy, but in a good way. But it does taste like actual juice.

navycopjoe. Being an Orioles fan originally and a Brewers fan most of my life, I have a respect for the CUBS and most of their fans.
As a little kid, I lived in Maryland and loved my Orioles.
Ironically, the Brewers beat the Orioles (Oct 4 1982 I think), last day of the season, IN Baltimore, to win the AL-EAST. Jim Palmer lost to Don Sutton.
Robin Young hit 2 homers. Brewers 10 Orioles 4.
I have an autographed GAMER by both Yount and Palmer on my den wall.
Now the Brewers are National League. So I have to hate the Cubs. Cubs games in Wrigleyville are a TRUE EXPERIENCE. I've seen many at Wriggley.
The Cubbie Bear, Murphys etc. Milwaukee to Wriggley is about 80 miles, and Chicago has GENO'S EAST.

529 I remember watching the documentary made by those French brothers who happen to be filming that day. One of the eeriest sounds was the thud of bodies hitting the ground. I didn't even realize what it was until someone told me.
That's the best 9/11 documentary in my opinion. It was so horribly graphic & heart-wrenching that I could only watch it once. God rest their souls.

ABC/Disney refused to release it. Good luck getting them to do it. John Ziegler tried leading that crusade and as far as I know he failed. Unless there's a massive sea change in the way the Left things, consider it gone. I think we recorded it on VHS when it came out on TV.
Our local 7-10 pm radio guy played the audio of Bush's speech on the rubble. I love that speech. I love that everyone's chanting USA. How the world has changed in 9 short years. I can't wait to read Bush's autobio coming out in November.

I was leaving the Y.M.C.A. a week or two ago. As I walked with my young nephew, back to my car, I passed by a rattle trap carp car with several bumper stickers on it. I thought. Kid-moron-Public School product.
I walked past not really paying attention, but then I did a double take.
I tried not to let my nephew notice what I was looking at. There was a rather large bumper sticker, shaped like an Octagon? Stop sign. Except BLUE.
It said. KEEP ABORTION LEGAL.
My first logical thought was. WHY WOULD ANYONE LIKE ABORTION SO MUCH THAT THEY WOULD PUT A BUMPER STICKER LIKE THAT ON THEIR CAR.
I immediately realized that the owner WAS A MORON, but a INDOCTRINATED MORON who has NO IDEA what ABORTION truly is or is about. But the moron loved the NOTION of PROTECTING the savage act and actually put a bumper sticker on his/her car in order to express solidarity with IMMORAL SAVAGERY.

Way too serious a post for that close to 666. But since we're reminiscing....
I was in Guam, in HC-5, a Navy Helicopter Combat Support Squadron. Flew late that day, got home around 7 or so. Just hanging out with the wife, surfing the net, watching TV. Flipped past CNN, saw something about "a small plane has crashed into a building in New York." The smoking hole didn't look like it was made by a small plane. Watched until 2 or 3 that morning. Packed a bag before I went to work the next day, turned out the whole squadron had done the same. It was the next spring before I deployed, but we were all volunteering that next morning.

I can't do it. I can't. When the transcripts were released our local morning guy played some of it on the radio. I couldn't see the road on my way to work because of the tears. The part in United 93 that utterly destroyed me was the woman who left a message on her answering machine because her husband was asleep. That she knew what was happening and was so utterly calm just ripped me up. Thinking about it now is making me teary.
In the beginning of Love Actually, the narrator says that all the of messages coming from the doomed on that day were all messages of love. It was an interesting and telling point.

684Ahem, and wasn't there supposed to be a prise involved here?
Congratulations Kratos! You are tonight's 666 comment winner!
And yeah, it's the return of your soul. For the moment. If you don't hit 666 on the next ONT it's forfeit to me once again. (Well, LauraW actually...she's the Keeper of Souls around here. I simply don't have space for storing them all, and because I'm such a light sleeper their cries of torment and anguish tend to keep me up at night. Laura claims that the forlorn screams actually have a soothing effect on her and are more effective than a warm cup of milk just before crypt-time. So it's win-win all around.)
Also you get a handsome certificate of achievement which will be mailed to you. Would look great on your mantle. Frame not included.

mpurin. God bless. I was holding a baby boy 6 months old. Exact same name as me. I was waiting for Grandma to come babysit, so I could go to work.
I heard about a "small aircraft" hitting one of the towers on the local CLASSIC ROCK station. My Grandfather worked in Manhattan. I had been there many times. I immediately realized that even a HANG GLIDER slamming into the WTC, would cause a certain amount of CARNAGE down below.
I turned on my little TV to see the 2nd plane. It looked like a 4th of July Fireworks.
I knew immediately what as up and my blood ran cold.
I called my older brother, one year older and very unhappy and VERY LIBERAL.
I told him that "maybe this will bring all of us Americans' together!!" I was very very distraught and emotional.
My liberal brother said. "I HOPE NOT"
That moment, I completely understood the liberal cause and liberal mind.
And it made me sick.

I quit the Police department and began driving a truck two years after I succeeded and failed at real estate. On the morning of Sept. 11th 2001, my partner was driving a semi-truck while I was sleeping and we stopped at the Flying J truck stop in Oklahoma City on I-35. He woke me up and I watched the news. Ten minutes later, I bought a small flag and flew it from our west coast mirrors and flew it to our next destination in Dallas. I think, that I may have been the first person in the country to fly the flag after 9-11. (okay, maybe wishful thinking, but highly possible.)

I never believed it, not once, not even before 9/11. I never really even thought about Islam until that day, but I never considered it a peaceful religion (hello, Barbary Pirates!). No religion is, especially not young ones (and Islam is still a very young religion).

The first tower fell as I was driving to school. I heard about United 93 crashing in PA when I got to school because a lot of the teachers had their radios on. The principal told all the teachers to turn off TV and radios (orders from LAUSD) but only a few of them actually did it.
I got home early (short school day and I only had 4 classes) and saw my dad was already home. He'd gotten to work and found the place had been shut down. The security guards were telling everyone to go home. I remember hearing on the news all the theme parks were shut down and it was the first time in so many years Disneyland closed. We were glued to the TV the rest of the day.

The Fallen Man. It didn't take the Israelites long to "forget" the 10 plagues, Passover, the protecting column of fire, the parting of the Red Sea, and in the desert turn away from God to golden idols. With 9/11, we watched as evil forces in this world took from us 3,000 men, women, and children in horrible ways over a few short moments. First hand proof that evil does exist. Right in front of them. Like a 2 X 4 across the forehead.
Now, some who were there and saw, and felt, and heard, and touched, and smelled the evil will rationalize away evil's existence. Will hope that it was all a bad dream, a mistake. Will want to understand the evil's motivation and sympathize with it. Will use 1984 style semantic games to welcome the evil, call it brother and partner. Coexist, even.
Will refuse to accept what is written plain as day in the Koran. Will refuse to accept what their eyes see, the sequence of unfolding events, the 1400 year history. Will ignore the brutal reality of present day Sharia Law. Will try to make equivalence points.
Yes, it's very upsetting to watch the movies and read the reports, even now. Takes one back to that moment. The fear, the anguish and sorrow, and later the righteous anger. Vengence belongs to the Lord. Evil exists and we can fight against it. Oppose its intrusion and expansion. Refuse to submit to it.
My kids, who were all very young that day and now learn about 9/11 as history, will not get a sugarcoated, G-rated, cartoonified interpretation. The camera does not lie and they will know the truth. For they will also have to fight and oppose evil. And that Satan's greatest lie was convincing man that he didn't exist.
/Rant off. Where's the Tylenol?

Well, we did have a couple of reasons. The Lebanese civil war and the Iran-Contra affair. Reagan let others fight his Islamic battles for him. In fact, his ignoring Hussein's idiocy made the first Bush fight him in 1990. Just saying. Reagan ended the Soviet empire, and was lured into thinking that the Iran/Iraq threat was a regional issue and not a threat to our interests. He was wrong. Just ask old man Bush, Clinton, and Bush's son.

I'll admit Reagan screwed the pooch in Beirut but I believe it is what steeled him to bomb Libya. Which did have a lasting effect. Bush senior should have marched straight to Bagdad and taken out the leadership. Put a General in charge and said don't make us come back. He then should have put our troops on the border with Iran for 6 months and dared them to come across.
Clinton bombing aspirin factories in response to attacks on our embassy, the USS Cole and the first attack on the World trade center, leaving our Rangers to fight to the death in Somalia, a betrayal of command to our fighting men this is what lead to 9-11. Reagan had learned his leasson. Unfortunately it cost the lives of many young Marines to learn it. I'd take 1 Reagan over a hundred Clintons and Obama's.

Who knows what might have transpired if we had done what you suggested? I'll hazard a bet and say that it would have been better than what did happen.

As a veteran, I believe that Schwarzkopf was the last real General we have really had. Ever since, we have had pussy bureaucratic wimps like Powell, Clark, Petraeus.........etc.

Good night all. But remember that when you wake up, it is still the anniversary of a murderous sneak attack against the uniquely American ideals of personal and religious freedom and self-determination.
Fuck all those who support the actions of those murderous few, may they burn in a bacon-enfused hellfire, the fkn bastards. (and that's not racist...when I die, a bacon-enfused bonfire is ok for me!!!)
And may all those who fell on this day nine years ago find peace and forgiveness instead of vengeance.
'Cause I'm still out there with many others looking for some vengeance...somewhere somehow within the law.

I hope that this night finds you at peace. I hope that our troops have a good day, and that they are safe.
I hope our enemies have a sleepless night, full of fear, and with a rather final bit of bad luck along the way.
And I hope that all the 'rons are refreshed and invigorated in the morning. Including me.

Righteous anger is justified in this case.
Indeed. By definition, this is Righteous Anger.

Now on Yahoo! news:
AP - Politics threatened to overshadow a day of mourning Saturday for nearly 3,000 Sept. 11 victims amid a polarizing national debate over a planned mosque blocks from the site where Islamic extremists attacked America.
I'm honestly surprised that they used the words "attacked" & "Islamic extremists". Rather strong language from them, though still a definite understatement. They can also shove it RE the part about the Ground Zero Mosque.

Also, applauds just as loud for an opposing team's injured player getting up and walking off the field as you do for your own players.
I prefer to see them dragged of the field by wild horses, kicking and screaming. Speeds the game up.

I propose giving them 12 hours to evacuate Mecca & Medina (as a courtesy). Then turn them both into a radioactive hole.
