Reminder: Change Your Clocks Tonight
— Gabriel Malor

It's the twice-annual time change for everyone except you lucky dogs in Arizona. I'm always groggy for a week after one of these (groggier than usual, I mean).

It's "spring ahead", right? Which means we lose an hour? But that means I need to flick my clocks ahead an hour, right? How about somebody just call me and make sure i"m up before church tomorrow, okay?

Another UK tune I've been listening to lately under the fold:

I would done this other song, which makes me think that UK music videos are stuck back around 1985, but they disabled embedding.

Sleep tight!

I heard that story about hanging a dead crow from a tree, etc.

Tried it. It won't stop the bastards from crowing in the trees.  In fact it pisses them off.  It will stop them from landing in the tree with the dead one.

Problem?  The dead one starts to smell and attract flies, etc.

Not a solution for crowing crows.

108 Jane, this same friend told me that alligators also love anti freeze soaked fish.

Same results.

Posted by: Kemp at March 13, 2010 06:16 PM (2+9Yx)

109 Anti freeze has a sweet taste, that's the attraction but it's also a poison, don't be tasting it too much.

110 My son heard that they don't throw rice at weddings because it hurts the birds. He then proceeded to spread rice outside his window hoping the birds would eat it and die and not wake him up. Proud? I guess....

111 Kemp, I really am off to bed, but we love our alligators.  Really.  The yankees are terrified of them and want them all exterminated.  What's not to love?  Heh.

'Night, guys.

114 Usually you get lots of crows when you have lots of little dead animals, like squirrell, mice, rats, etc. Have a bunch of acorn bearing oaks and you end up with cawing crows. Nuts=squirrels=road kill=crows

Another question. I'm told that the U joints at both ends of the drive shaft need burned out and pressed back in. Is $150 for labor and parts reasonable?

116 115,

In fact that's a bargain Sir.

117 You don't need to change your clock tonight. Pelosi says there's an extra hour for all of us in the health bill. Oh wait. That's just for artists, writers and photographers. Lawyers are fucked.

120 Clocks???

Posted by: Charlie Gibson at March 13, 2010 06:46 PM (EVoH+)

121 U Joints? years ago we used to replace them at home with a piece of 2x4 and a socket that fits where the c-clip was. Hammer them on one side and then once you got the one bearing cap off the rest was easy. There is a trick to it which I have forgotten. Last one I did was 40 years ago.  Press the new one on with a vice and the socket. Things might be different now.. cv joints.

122 Note to self: travel back in time and brutally murder everyone responsible for this clock-changing bullcrap.

Just leave the damned clocks alone, for the love of God and all that is Holy, save a few billion in compliance costs, and stop screwing with the lives of people with sleep disorders.

Assholes. I'm going to have even MORE miserable mornings for weeks.

125 Since I have zero responsibilities these days I'm lucky I know what day of the week it is. Is it big paper day?

Fucking ridiculous time change.

Posted by: Barbarian at March 13, 2010 08:56 PM (EL+OC)

126 and we let the f'n 'tarded gubbmint tell us what time it is??!?!? and change it around twice a year?!? for whaaat? [ad there is exactly the same amount of daylight, plus a minute or two. srsly, people...]

127 I'd just like to say how wonderful it is to live in Arizona.

No time-warp clocks here.

Once upon a time it might have mattered whether it was still daylight outside.  Today not so much.  Electricity is spent on hot water heaters, ovens, refrigerators and air conditioning, all of which have nothing to do with daylight.  The use of incandescent bulbs, which daylight savings time was created to reduce, are a tiny portion of the total power bill.

128 We do not have daylight savings time here in Hawaii and for that I am grateful. However, I now have to contend with the difference in time when I call my kiddos in the mainland so as to not wake them since we're now 6 hours behind them on the east coast.

131 When I was 12, my father gave me his Remington 510 (.22 single shot) and turned me loose at my grandparent's house, I was allowed to shoot Starlings and House Sparrows.  I never missed.

132 My clocks (and my alarm clock) use the radio signals to reset their time.  Apparently I "lost" an hour last night... or whatever.  Like I care, it's not something I have to screw with anymore.

Thank goodness for technology; I used to miss resetting my clocks for DST all the damn time; now I can just ignore it.
