Rick Sanchez: CNN And Other Networks Are Run By Jews

Apparently the stupidest man on TV gave a long and convoluted radio interview where Sanchez took a number of shots at John Stewart with whom he seems to have a running feud (mostly because Stewart makes fun of Sanchez, which probably amounts to just playing clips of the dumb crap Sanchez says).

He then capped it off with this.

When Pete suggested Jews (such as Stewart) have at least some sense of what itÂ’s like to be an oppressed minority, Sanchez seemed to make the claim that Jews run CNN and the news business in general and that Stewart thus did not in fact know what it was like to feel the sting of prejudice.
Â“Yeah,Â” Sanchez snickered sarcastically at the idea that Jews are as much minorities as Latinos in the US.
"Very powerless peopleÂ… [snickers] HeÂ’s such a minority, I mean, you know [sarcastically]Â… Please, what are you kidding? Â… IÂ’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they Â— the people in this country who are Jewish Â— are an oppressed minority? Yeah. [sarcastically]"

Yeah, there's no reason to think Sanchez is an idiot other than his ethnicity.

In Miami Sanchez was known as a joke, the municipal shame. I still have seared -- seared! -- in my memory the sight of him standing in a neighborhood of homes that had been destroyed by Hurricane Andrew crying faux tears on camera. He made it all about him, as usual.

151 Ok, I read the transcript. It's not clear to me that Sanchez was saying the Jews runs CNN. It sounded to me that he was saying rich, liberal establishment whites runs CNN. He was saying Stewart was a bigot and a dick to anybody who didn't share his background -- and he specifically described that background as upper-middle class liberal white.

Sanchez was saying Stewart was a rich liberal dick who had no empathy for anybody who really struggled in life. At which point the host said, hey Stewart's Jewish so he knows about prejudice and struggling. That's when the conversation turned to Jews. And Sanchez made it clear he didn't think wealthy American Jews of Stewart's generation and younger were discriminated against in America.

Sanchez seems like a moron to me, but it seems like he's getting the shaft here. I didn't see any anti-semitic animus. Personally I agree with his characterization of Stewart as a white upper-middle NPR-class establishment prick who, like that whole class, especially hates middle and lower class whites.

Having an on-air discussion about how much discrimination younger, upper-middle Jews really face in America probably was unwise, but didn't come off as a Mel Gibson rant. And again, it read to me that he was saying CNN was run by liberal establishment whites (ie like Stewart) and not going off on a Gibsonian Jews-control-the-media rant.
