43 I don't care. I got my WA ballot in the mail today and already voted for Rossi. And for closing the sate-owned liquor stores.

And said NO on even thinking about creating an income tax. Yes, they tried it again like they do every 10 years or so. This time it's a "soak the rich" scheme (just like the first Fed income tax, hmmmm) of only taxing over $200,000 ($400,000 married). And they tried to sweeten it by removing other business related taxes. Well, it hasn't worked before and it won't work this time.

Reagan would crush Reid in this climate.  Angle isn't a stellar candidate.  She will win, but it will be closer than it should be.

Reid is a little troll.  He's been able to slink by, unnoticed for the most part for years, now. In a bad year for Dims, he's got a light shined on him.  He's a poor candidate.  Angle has as much money anyway.  No excuses.  She needs to close.

182 I tired, but I couldn't take the broken record talking points form both sides. Reid just outright ignores the questions and blathers on about whatever stream-of-senile-consciousness rant he feels like. Angle, as much as I hate to say it, almost sounds like Alvin Green-

Mod: "Mrs. Angle, what are your thoughts on immigration?"
Angle: "Harry Reid broke the economy and the solution come from the free market"
Mod: "Ummm... okay. So, Mrs. Angle, what would you propose to address health care costs?"
Angle: "No. Harry Reid broke the economy..."

It's like watching a cripple fight on South Park.

The tax rate is set in law. Bush cut the tax rate temporarily. When they expire they go back to the legal rate. So it was Bush tax cuts but not extending them is not a tax hike but a return to the legal tax rate. However, returning the country to the pre-Bush rate in this recession would be a disaster AND people expected them to be extended. It's worse because no one knows what's going to happen so they can't plan. It's the uncertainity. And the fear.

489 chemjeff, how long has it been leaking, and how long have they been trying to clean it up? -They've been talking about at least since the time that I moved away, which was about 22 years ago!

490 462What's the polling looking like in this race?   It's been all over the map recently. Some have Rossi up by 3 or 4, which is within the margin and others have Murray up by 7 or 8.   There's some serious anger up here in the most blue heart of darkness and there are a bunch of down-ticket races and initiative measures that favor the Right, even in the midst of Seattle itself.   I don't expect it to be '94 redux when we went from 8-1 Dem. House seats to 7-2 in favor of the GOP in that single election which included the cherry topping of knocking off then-current Speaker of the House Tom Foley.

First someone commented that all of nv should be nuked, then this yucca shit. Ya know, there are good conservatives here, and we have families, kids, churches etc. Get tired of this bs! I have voted in every election since Bush 1, and I get tired of the comments about how stupid nevadans are. Occasionally we put a good conservative in office, unlike the majority of the east coast.

Posted by: lou at October 14, 2010 11:25 PM (CtAJu)

If I offended you in any way, I apologize.  You know the east has republicans and conservatives too only they have to remain in the closet.  Truthfully it's easier to be gay than to be a republican and worse to be a conservative.  But I personally know three conservatives so they do exist on the east coast.

this business of how to mitigate all this waste is going to be a huge topic.  Another situation where the "unintended consequences" has hit the government right in the face.  I think they had no idea that eventually this stuff would eat through because, if they did then it's a disgrace that they went ahead and put it where they did.

Hadn't realized he was head of the State Ways & Means Committee... on one hand, that means he's well qualified to balance the budget. On the other hand, he kinda takes some blame for the current overspending.

Posted by: Enochf at October 14, 2010 10:15 PM (N9eP5)

His term in the state senate ended in 2003. He actually won the race for governor the first time he ran, but the election was stolen by the King County Democrats.

This is a frustrating place to live at times.

496 lou, really, look up hte stuff on Yucca Mt.  To safely store highly radioactive stuff [not the low-level stuff from hospitals and such, but waste from power plants, etc] it is best to have a dry, relatively earthquake free space.  Yucca is quite probably the best place for that.

Having said that, if you put all the high-level nuclear waste produced in the US since 1944, you'd make a pile about the size of a football field some 12 feet deep or so.  Also, given NV's already relatively high radiation [granite mountains = higher level radiation, as does higher altitudes], it won't really add to the ambient radiation at all.

I suggest no one try to sneak in and lick the waste, but otherwise, it's about as 'safe' as it's possible to be.

P.S. If you have a brick home, you get more radiation from the bricks than you would from leaning up against a nuclear waste containment vessel for the same amount of time.

Thanks, genghis.  The way things are going, then, she could easily lose, seems like.  The wave hasn't peaked, and I don't know if it will.  Obama continues to do stupid things, like publicly planning ahead for the GOP majority which, one would think, suppesses the Democrat vote.

Love to see them get rid of her.  About half her answers in the debate were about funding this and that program.  "I gave you this and that."  Spending other people's money.  Sickening mindset.

The "drawn and quartered" comment is charming. Expecting a visit from the FBI?

Anyway, Patty looks to be in good shape. She's ahead in every poll in October (http:// tinyurl.com/ 284lk82), and she knows how to close (three times successfully) while Dino apparently does not (twice unsuccessfully).

Bottom line: Patty's going back to the Senate, and Dino's going back to Sammamish.
